I go to this theatre quite often. Seats are comfortable. Lots of screens so lots of variety in what's playing. Food is good if a bit pricey. Not a problem of this theatre specifically, just all of them are expensive. But I've never been told they aren't making something or don't have any of something left, which is something that's happened at all other local theaters.

It was pretty messy. We got to our movie 30 minutes early and there was just popcorn and trash everywhere. Also there we're a lot of people being disruptive and distracting during the movie. Line ups to get your concessions were long but moving smoothly, just very crowded and claustrophobic.

Our go-to theatre next to home that covers most the movie-going needs for the Halifax area. Huge theatre, movies tend to stay there a pleasantly long time so you don't need to rush out in the first couple weeks in fear of stuff leaving. I used to come here as a kid and as I still go now am happy to see they keep putting money into updating the place. There's a large amount of theatres, self-serve ticket kiosks, a greatly expanded and updated arcade area, as well as an impressive amount of public washroom availability. This location also occasionally does viewings of Family Favorites as weekend matinees and brings back older movies to replay for cheap. Other random events too at times. Reservations for some of the larger movies can be done online where you can select your own specific seats and not have to stress about showing up crazy early. If you DO show up early though, you can always have fun and play along to the pre-show games on the Timeplay app. Don't forget to go for Tuesday cheap nights! Also half the ticket cost.

A very nice theatre, very clean and spacious. Comfortable seats with lots of room for cozy viewing, and regularly cleaned washrooms. We've never had a bad bag of popcorn there, and a fun arcade. However, staff do not check in during shows to monitor the audience for talking, texting, and other electronics usage. The experiences we've had at our last four movies have been significantly deminished because of flickering screens. We've noticed no changes in this since we've made multiple complaints to management. So overall, a lovely place to go to a movie. Just expect to be distracted by people who can't go two hours without posting a status update, and people who need to talk about the differences between the book and the movie...during the movie.

Staff never smile..and make you feel welcome. Very poor customer service.. reprehensible! Don't understand why they keep staff who possess zero service skills or anything. Management never deals with these issues unfortunately even when brought to their attention. Jackie is a nasty, obnoxious person for the tickets. Haven't seen her working there in a long time. Thank goodness.

The best movie theatre in town in my opinion, tons of movie options as well as having a huge arcade section. Theatres always are clean and they have regular, IMAX, or dbox options. Super fun.

This was my first time to the theatre in 20 months. I was anxious about it but we went for an advance screening and the excitement out weighed the anxiety. We were waiting for the movie to start and we were told that there was a short delay due to a technical difficulty. Minutes later we were told that there was a server issue and the movie didn't transfer over. We were provided with a voucher but that doesn't quite make up for the time lost and the opportunity blown. I will rewrite my review if we decide to go back.

Dune was awesome but the screen of the Imax theatre looked like a drink had been thrown at it and when there was a bright scene in the movie (which is most of Dune) , you could see the faded stain. Honestly, if you want me and my family back, please tell me this is fixed properly. I don't want to see this stain for upcoming Spiderman, Matrix, The Batman etc...also, if it's not a full theatre, you should really close off more seats so that we're not all sitting together.

Pros : Lots of great movie options. Nice theater food. Comfortable seating. Cons: when I went the other night the bathroom was atrocious. It was after one of the last shows for the evening, so I am not sure if someone hadn't checked them yet but, just gross. Stuff floating in toilets. Water all over the floor. A broken toilet seat. I went through 5-6 stalls before I found one I could use.

the seating is comfy and the staff are clean cut and to the point, like no small talk, I just want to go and see a movie with popcorn. however, I've found that the popcorn has been burned, and sometimes even stale. the drinks are more I've then pop but it's what I expect with any restaurant style concession. the amount of ads before shows though tend to take it 20 or 30 minutes past the online start time and the entrance feels congested with all the gimmicks. all in all it was way better before cineplex bought it but some things have also improved.

Although I love this place, and it has been my favourite theatre in Halifax, one of my top reasons for coming here has been drastically damaged. I would have said that one of the main benefits of choosing this theatre over the others in Halifax is that they run the Time Play games before the movie, where you can answer a series of trivia questions, and win points toward future movie purchases. They used to give a top prize of 100 points to the winner, and 50 points to the top five or ten people. Now they have changed it so the top winner only get 25 points and the next two people only get 5 points. It's not even worth playing, and I won't be wasting my time. Plus, I don't want to sit through watching the game for no reason, so I won't be showing up as early for my movies and wasting all that time. And I will probably more often go to the other cinemas in town because their showing times are much better for regular working people. Lately I've been noticing that this location offers movies at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, while other cinemas still offer 6:15-7:00 shows. It's way too late for me to go to an 8:00 pm movie, and 5:00 pm is too early to get any friends to come with you, so Bayers Lake is getting less appealing.

Fun but costly. We always enjoy going to the movies but after the cost of tickets taking a family to the movies becomes incredibly more expensive than it should be if you want to include drinks,popcorn,treats ect... Happy with the food selection, it's just too expensive. The theatre itself was comfortable and clean.

Not a bad place after all. Even after reading lots of thumbing down reviews . I guess it has to do with the time and date to watch the movie. Non holiday week days were the best time to go. Only if you don't hate to miss the large crowd. At noon time the theater was clean and the line was short. Very good surround sound, comfortable seats, friendly service and lots of parking spaces.

Theatre is okay. Older style seating here; no motorized recliners, no service at your seat, no beer or spirits, but a nice, clean theatre. The older style seats were comfortable enough. There is plenty of parking, a good sized games room out front and decent choice of concessions. I have been spoiled by the newer, upgraded theatres, so I can only give this one 3 stars.

The movie selection here is wonderful, and big movies stay awhile so you can watch your favourites again. The new arcade is mesmerizing. The staff are really nice, although some are very quiet for the noise level of the place which can sometimes make it hard to understand them. The concessions options are vast which is good if you only feel like sweets or only feel like salt. I often purchase soft pretzels, which aren't always fresh, but can be replaced if you just ask. We go to this theater frequently because it's convenient, and we've never had a bad experience.

First movie out since the pandemic began, generally wasn't impressive. Bathrooms were absolutely nasty, lineup for concessions was WILDY slow, popcorn tasted like it was made hours ago and place in general just looked kind of run down. I know rona has been tough on the industry, but I was expecting a best foot forward kind of effort. I will say staff were lovely, especial kudos extended to a stellar member in a wheelchair who chatted with me about the movie I was planning to see and made an effort to say goodbye and thank you personally.

Very good experience. They have pre-allocated seats for each auditorium. There were only 31 seats available in the auditorium we were in. So plenty of space for social distancing. The movie was amazing as well. Maudie from 2016, but so good to see.

First movie since Feb 2020. Not busy at all. Social distancing and masks are required until you are in your seats, then the masks come off. Nobody is sitting anywhere near you. My wife and I felt very safe.

Went to see Dune. I think there were 6 ofv us in the theatre. We were cold for the 3 hours we were in the theatre. The floor was sticky like walking on fly paper. The movie was good but I can't see going back any time soon.

I enjoy it here. A few things could probably be better, though. This theatre is super busy, it should have more lanes available to buy your tickets, popcorn and other snacks. Definitely give yourself more than enough time to buy whatever you're getting so you don't miss any parts of the movie! The arcade has a good selection of games in my opinion, however there isn't much room to navigate through people when it's busy, and a handful of games are usually out of order. The butter machines for the popcorn seem to be out of order quite frequently. A staff member who works at the arcade points stand (I don't know how else to word it lol), is completely oblivious to what people are saying. He has a hard time understanding anything and it causes long waits and frustrated people. However.. Even when its swamped with people, the workers always seem quite friendly! The bathrooms seem pretty clean for how many there are and how much they're used. With how many people are getting popcorn and eating it in the hallway on the way to the auditoriums, popcorn falls on the floor of course. However, their has been somebody there sweeping it up every time I've been there so far!

I had a good experience with sound and especially the IMAX screen. The one thing that I hate most about cineplex here in NovaScotia is Seating. Seats are not comfortable so how you guys can expect public to watch movie? Which requires nearly 3 hours of seating? Just an honest opinion - change it or upgrade it. Thanks

Not a good theatre any more! Time Play doesn't work, and ice cream machine is usually broken. I went there three times after reopening after COVID-19, and my experience was the same in the three times. Movie was schedule to start at 7:30, and the screen turned on at 7:31. No time play, which was disappointing

Good bus service. Full IMAX including 3D. Excellent for the new blockbusters, but will have special showings and some indie movies like Maudie or some art-house/festival favorite. Good for Indian/Chinese/foreign showings. Can be a little dirty later in the day, but usually clean in the seats. Good location for shopping before or after.

It's a good place for movies and the arcade however, the theatres and space can be filthy with wrappers, spilt pop and popcorn all over. Like most theatres the food is way overpriced. In general it's not bad and a great place to hang out with friends and family.

Pretty busy, IMAX is awesome. They just added a lot to their arcade. *Edit* Changed to 1 star from 4. They now REQUIRE both proof of vac + photo ID. While this isn't a problem, what is, is that while purchasing through the mobile app it tells you none of this. My partner didn't bring her ID because why would she, it's a movie theater, not a bar. After all of that, they have the nerve to play the Cineplex vaccine propaganda, while waiting in the theater full of people who should already be double vaxxed. On the subject of ads, why are there so many of them with a fully white background in the dark theater? And frankly, they should really turn the volume down. I'm not trying to worsen my hearing just to learn about the kids Cineplex Halloween show (twice). That goes for the movie itself too. Remember, more loud ≠ better sound quality like Cineplex would like you to believe. A few complaints after the movie: - sticky floors - people on cell phones - bumping seats - giant stain/scuff/imperfection on the IMAX "screen". All of those adequate to a very distracted moving experience that shouldn't cost $20 a person. While trying not to be the most dramatic, I would have preferred purchasing the 4k blueray and watching at home instead. IMAX just is not worth it anymore.

Glad to have it back post CoVid. Games and fun centre is good to entertain the smaller folks. They also allow you to order Uber Eats / Door Dash etc directly to the concession counter and bring it into the theatres with you during the show now!! #GameChanger

It seems everything is sticky in the theatres themselves. The bathrooms, however, are clean and well-stocked, as well as being huge so if a bunch of films get out at once (or you're just shy) there's plenty of space. The staff is amazing 90% of the time, but they're never terrible. The popcorn is great because it's always cycling, but if you want other foods (like the pretzels) then usually they get stale before you get them. Churros are amazing, they just take a few minutes. The Scene program is a nice bonus, but they need to stop showing exclusively 3D movies. I don't want to pay a $3 premium for a migraine. I have missed several movies for this reason. Pretty expensive, expect a two person movie date with snacks to be around $50, but it's not a bad time.

The food is expensive like any other theater but it's always fresh here! The new arcade is really great for both kids and adults! No complaints here! Will return often

Theater seating and viewing are very nice but the concession and prices are out of this world. Empire theaters was a dream compared to this company and they know it. I've heard how they treat their employees, no longer providing free movies or discounted concessions as empire did. However the experience is still good and the integration with the scene app game before movies can be slightly entertaining.

My go to theatre, clean, efficient, friendly and the seating is great. However I have found that recently the volumes have been excessivly loud. My boyfriend has (mild) tinnitus which has been irritated by the volumes. Even I have experienced ringing of the ears. Edit: they changed the arcade... It is every child dream. The amazing arcade takes up most of the lobby now. However I was extremely disappointed about how expensive the games were. Typically going to the theatre I'm more than happy to drop 5 or 10 bucks on tokens for a half hour of fun and air hockey, but now the games cost between 2 and 5 dollars EACH. Not worth it, total rip off. This signifies the death of the arcade.

My local theater is a small, the games they have are very old & 90% of the time are broken. Compared to this, Scotiabank is amazing. Are there wait lines, yes. My little home theater has these too. When we start to complain, we need to take a step back. As an adult, I bring my children to theater as a special treat. There eyes go wide, the games, the movie chooses, the food chooses. It's not a movie, it's an afternoon adventure, through the eyes of a child. Sure you can make it mundane, or you can indulge and take part. A trip to the park, doesn't have to be just a trip to the park, just ask Mary Poppins. So while going to our local theater is smaller adventure, Scotiabank is a giant adventure, one that can both my autistic child, and I (who suffer from daily severe migraines) can enjoy when they do their special movie viewing with sensory adapted lights and sound.

Great newer theater! They have games available in the lobby before your movie which are a nice distraction from the wait. Also make sure you check around the corner where a few more are hiding from the crowds- there are some classics! The lobby is large enough for a lot of moviegoers to be waiting but it is never all that full. Tables and chairs are a nice addition to relax at before you go in. There is a great menu available of 'real food' along with yogurt and fancy popcorn. I did not try the food yet but it sure smelled and looked good. They also have your standard candy/popcorn/soda at the standard theater prices. Never had any issues with the popcorn or pop or candy (I will usually get a combo of some sort) The theaters are clean and newer, making them very enjoyable. They also have an IMAX screen with selectable seats and this is definitely something to experience! 3D films are also available with complimentary glasses. Parking is super easy here as there is a massive parking lot just in front of the doors. Also there are lots of restaurants around if you want to do a dinner and movie date night. If you have Scene cards then you can even use them at some nearby restaurants as well as the movie. Overall a very good theater that is clean and modern.

Seeing a movie after the new COVID policies were in place was great! I felt totally safe. Staff did a great job dealing with a group of 7 customers who all sat together because they felt they didn't need to abide by the physical distancing / assigned seats policy in place. All staff members were friendly and cheerful. It was a pleasure to be back to the movies!!

Clean and variety choices of arcades to kill time. Screen is big enough for movies with excellent sound quality. Chairs were comfortable but I wish there was more leg room or provide premium seats. I would pay up to double for more leg space, head rest and more efficient reclining chair.

Good selection of movies and food. Concessions are expensive but that's expected. Loads of parking and the staff are usually polite. My only issue is the lack of staff that come in the theatre during the film. A lot of loud talkers and bright cell phones can really ruin the ambiance.

Covid protocol in place with someone at the doors checking your ID and vaccination status. Once in, you can buy your popcorn and snacks and then another check of the tickets before the individual theatre doors. Best to come early before the movie as it can get busy right at the door at times due to all the protocols that have to be initiated. Plenty of stalls for the washrooms so there is never a wait, especially for the ladies. There is also an arcade area with several games stations. Overall a good experience. The only downside is that the trash can be overflowing after a particularly busy movie screening time in the evenings.

I went on a Tuesday, which is the cheap day, and there was only me and 3 at the movie I went to see. I bought my ticket online which was so easy. Going in you show your vaccine record and a piece of government ID and you're all set. The seats are comfy, the place is clean and someone came and sanitized all the railings before the movie started. Definitely a 5 star experience.

Sunday was my second time going to the IMAX theatre since moving here during the pandemic. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The theater and washrooms were both clean and well maintained. Couldn't ask for more for our movie experience.

My preferred theatre. It is large with a ton of different showings. It seems to always have the movie I want to see playing at reasonable times. If you get there early the arcade has lots of fun games to play on until your movie starts. The food is typical movie food, though it's expensive, it's never badly made. The only annoyance is sometimes they don't have certain foods avaliable like pizzas, otherwise great.

I never thought you could get lost in a theater before IMAX. This place is huge. Other then that this location also has the seats that movie with the movie. If you haven't tried them yet it's a perfect opportunity to spend some points. The food options are also crazy here, so many options. So other then all those pros, it's pretty much like a standard Cineplex location.

Movie, popcorn and pop way to expensive for and afternoon out. And I can't imagine families going very expensive!!! Plus it was kind of loud. Will consider buying costco card for 2 before hand better deal with popcorn and drink. Or just wait for cheap night or until the movie comes out.
