I have been a personal member of Alterna Savings Credit Union since it was called Metro Credit Union and I have always found the staff friendly and very helpful. You won't get this kind of service with a bank!

This credit union discriminates against people based on race. I opened a bank account with Maryiam Ahmad and left without online access and she did not give me my direct deposit details. When I called in to her office she said "I did not request it" and stated that is the reason why she did not provide it.

Extremely poor & unprofessional service. One specific teller is consistently rude for no reason, does not explain policies that are completely different at this branch vs other Alterna branches. Nearly refused to let me access my savings after I hadn't used it for a couple years... Even had the gall to ask if I "really wanted the money"!

This credit union discriminates against people with disabilities. I had applied for a line of credit and was told I had an excellent credit rating and FICO score, that there would be no problems in obtaining the line of credit. I was open and honest about everything during the application process, only to be told directly that I had been denied because of my disability. They wanted to know very personal information that I did not see necessary, for securing the line of credit. I believe that this bank should have just looked at my past credit and payments history to make their decision rather then try to dig into personal medical information about people. I believe its discrimination and people should be aware of their practices at this credit Union!

These bank cards do not work . My first card didnt work and I went to them and got a new 2nd card that did not work either . I closed my account and I had to ask for the 15$ member fee back from them if I didnt ask maybe they would of kept it . These people are Unprofessional and a waste of time . Open a tangerine account or with another bank dont waste your time with these people

Ade is a star! Rushed our mortgage application and managed to get it in on the last day of a promotion Alterna was offering. My wife and I are now enjoying a 2-year 2.19% fixed, thanks to her incredible hustle that afternoon! Thanks Ade!

There is constantly a 20 minute wait at this bank. With only one teller, expect to spend half an hour just to make a business deposit.

I am from the UK and was the Banks Street Branch to deal with my deceased Dad's affairs. Extremely unhelpful and unprofessional member of staff. Using a tone of voice as if I don't understand and almost felt like she was questioning my intelligence. I had the authority to deal with my Dad's affairs and I live in the western world and am fully aware of what Banks should be able to provide. Thank God my Dad's account had been closed.

Alterna Savings Credit Union is very supportive of student groups. It was easy to create an account and we'd rather be banking with a credit union than a bank! For those that don't know credit unions are owned by us as members rather than rich people.
