Beautiful church carefully and loving restored after a 2001 devastating fire. I don't know how they did it, but it looks so original complete with its wonderful stained glass windows.

Those volunteers(?) are very helpful to provide information. The church was rebuilt after a recent fire, not authentic. However , a good drop by in the south part of Nova Scotia crazy car trip.

The first memory I have is of this Church burning down. They did a very good job rebuilding it. The cross that is in it was made by my Dad.

St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg, which dates from 1754, is the second oldest protestant church in Canada. St. John’s has a rich history in the Anglican tradition. Disaster struck on the evening of October 31, 2001, when the Church was destroyed by a fire. With remarkable fortitude the Church congregation voted to restore St. John’s to its original condition prior to the fire, and reconstruction at the site began almost immediately. St. John’s has been fully restored and was re-opened in June of 2005. The Gothic architecture is amazing. Beautiful exterior and interior it is great for photographers. This lovely church is a must-see when in Lunenburg.

Closed by the time we passed by. But, the facade is impressive enough for me to write a five-star review. Surrounded by churches in the neighborhood, this Anglian house of prayer stands out with its stylish architecture.

Beautiful Church with ample space, glass work windows, white exterior and antique wood work.

This is one of the three most photographed churches in NS. A great spot to get a view of all three in one spot is across the bay from the churches. Just head back toward Halifax about 400m and turn right.
