I wish I could provide a more positive review for Leslie and Centum/Mavin Lending. After a positive experience with Leslie in 2011, I made the decision to reach out to her again in Jan of 2019 with respect to a new construction purchase.
We needed a letter to indicate that we would be approved when the property closed (12-24 months later). It's a funny requirement from the builders given that credit histories can change so much over those time periods but nevertheless, they do require it.
We trusted Leslie to help advise us, and manage our application accordingly. At that time, in January of 2019, she SUBMITTED the application for a property that wasn't scheduled to close until mid 2020 (which means the application would expire and it would be an unnecessary hit to our credit).
At that time, we made the decision to switch brokers, having learned that she submitted an application on our behalf. Our new broker was amazing and educated us on the process for new construction.
NOTE: NO APPLICATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION MORTGAGE LETTERS REQUIRED TO CLOSE THE DEAL WITH BUILDER!
Fast forward 16 months: We have occupied our new home in occupancy and still have not been required to secure the mortgage.
It's a real shame that Leslie made the poor decision to submit an application prematurely and now our credit reports are STILL showing a credit application from Jan 2019.
We wish we had trusted our gut and shopped around to find a broker more experienced in new construction.
