Motive refused to open an account for me because the "city" in my application did not match the "city" that was on my statements from other financial instutions. I live in the city of Vaughan and put that in my application. The other FIs had Woodbridge. This meant the Equifax could not find any information on me despite the postal code being the same regardless of the "city" used. Wow! I guess postal codes are not relevant. My other option would have been to amend my application and resubmit. I refused. Most businesses pay for and blindly follow Canada Post which does not display a "city" for a postal code but instead shows the name of the local Canada Post location supporting that postal code. Woodbridge was annexed into the town of Vaughan "recently" in 1971. It was all for the best however as I am getting a better savings rate at elsewhere with excellent service and who did not have an issue with my "city".

The UI/UX of the site and especially the mobile app could be (much) better but their rates are some of the best in the country and I've had no real issue with customer service which I've contacted a few times to resolve issues.

They dont seem to understand it. You are way behind time and your delivery is subpar. Your division turns blind eyes since the CDF change over. Nothing has improved basically beside some extra savings

Don C

Good rate, horribly slow customer service.

D. Atom

Unbeatable rate at 2.8%.

Have been with Motive for a very long while (even when it was 'Canadian Direct Financial') and have found them to be a solid organization that pays competitive HISA rates. And I've never experienced a problem with their service side whenever I've had cause to phone.

Abysmal and appalling service. You are basically scraping the bottom of the financial barrel when utilizing this bank. Customer service is non-existent. I emailed numerous times to confirm my withdrawal amounts and dates to use the interac transfer system. Katie B. was apparently to busy or rude to respond. Nevertheless, I am in he process of moving all my funds out. This disgraceful bank and its petty customer service reps place a 20K monthly cap on interac withdrawals, 10K weekly and 3K daily, making it difficult for clients to access or process transaction with OUR money. This bank like all these fiat crooks likes to think otherwise. Good riddance. Crypto could not be embraced quick enough to do away with these shylocks.

So this is a Canadian company that does not cater to those who are students and only have a P.O. box (when a large majority of Canadians live in rural areas that only have P.O. boxes) .This is extremely disappointing. Customer service is not great and takes a long time to answer.

The sign up process with this institution is absolutely brutal. Trying to currently open a savings account and it has been over a month. Credit checks followed by emails, followed by multiple forms you need to fill out and send back to them. Reminds me of opening a bank account 30 years ago. Currently use 2 other online only banking platforms that make opening accounts extremely easy. Will update this post when I actually am able to use this banks services. Update: I'd highly recommended staying away from this institution. Yes they offer 2.8% interest on their savings account however their banking platform as well as their mobile app are ridiculously behind the times. The frustration in dealing with this institution is not worth the extra 0.5%. There are better online banks offering interest over 2% that won't give you a headache.

I'd agree about the slow service, and I'm not yet even a customer!!. Been waiting 2 weeks just to open an account. Maybe my money's no good!?

Been with this bank for over a year with a savings account. Opened a chequing and they tell me they need to ship a new card since they can't reset the pin any other way. Takes two weeks to get the pin, and i try changing it at a National Bank ATM. Keeps telling me it's incorrect and locks me out. I call them to unlock it, and after being on hold for 20 minutes, i'm told they have to send me another since they can't unlock it. They refuse to ship it through priority mail, so i have to wait another two weeks to get the new one. What kind of a joke is this? Get your act together. This is pathetic for banking in 2020.

Canadian Direct Financial has been a headache since the beginning. We have had so much trouble with them for the past year. They changed their system a year ago and our money transfers were incorrect. We contacted them as they had given us too much money. They then took double the amount back and we called and sent emails. They tried to fix it and made things worse. Long story short, they did not fix things after hours of work on our end and have now emailed us to tell us that we owe them money, which we don't! We are so tired of this and we tried to resolve it a year ago and they couldn't figure it out!
