Ok, i am partial. Been a member for 36 years since my father first brought me into the fold. The place is none too pretty, but it has it's own character and, as is the case anywhere you go, the people that call it their 'home' give it that character. I moved away ~ 6 years ago but i maintain my membership there. Branch 70 is very very community oriented and supportive of many groups within Iroquois Falls, a town that has suffered financial hardships the last decade or so. If you go a must visit is the Memorial across the street from the Legion. Spearheaded by long time president Joe Leblanc ( RIP Joe ) and another past president Bill McCarthy it was totally funded through donations from the entire North, and constructed by numerous local volunteers. Construction was completed in 2009. The monument contains the names of Iroquois Falls and area citizens, past and present, who served in our country's major conflicts. As much as anything it is also a monument to the people of Northern Ontario who honour, and refuse to forget, the brave people who fought to protect the freedoms we all now enjoy. So head down and twist your elbow over a pint or two. Lots of 'stuff' on the walls to keep you busy. Play a game of pool - nice table - listen to the local banter and live some history.
