My wife and I worked with The Mortgage Centre in August and while it wasn't perfect, I don't know if it can be when you're working with a quick close on a 2nd house while trying to remortgage the 1st house. There were some bumps along the way but they made it happen and they definitely care. Sandra was great every call, every e-mail. In the end, when it came to our experience, they took a look at what could have been better and vowed to use it going forward. Being in Business myself, I believe a great recovery can make up for a mistake here and there and The Mortgage Centre did this when some aspects of ours were out of their control. After reading through the 9 reviews on this company, including one from the company owner, I decided to share my experience. This was my first mortgage experience and it could not have been any rockier. There were many obstacles but a few that were noteworthy. 1) The sharing of information of someone else with the same first and last name as me was rather annoying as it demonstrated a lack of privacy and professionalism with the company as completing whatever credit check they completed they did not use my full legal name. 2) Instead of requesting all required information at once, we had to scramble to gather everything as what was previously sufficient suddenly became insufficient information causing us to almost miss our deadline. 3) After signing the mortgage insurance with our lawyer, Sandra and her assistant Louis called us constantly, to have us sign the same papers with them, stating that we would not qualify for the insurance if we did not, even though we had already received confirmation from our lender. When I did email Sandra to clear this up, I did not receive a response. 4) Property taxes and followups: Sandra promised to call us after 6 months to discuss our plan and follow up with any questions that we had. She did not call us, just sent in a generic email to contact her if we had questions. We did have questions: Our property taxes were to be included in our mortgage but we were still getting bills to pay it. Luckily our lawyer had told us that we would have to pay the first installment, but when the second installment bill came, I emailed Sandra again and as expected, I had no response. Bottom line: This is not an experience that I would choose to use.
