Worst bank I've ever deal with. They close at 6pm on Fridays and kick everyone in line out (what business does this, never mind bank?), doesn't have a manger on Mondays (seriously, what bank operates like this?), has no air conditioning and dim lighting (personal issue, okay), and has no staff capable or willing to fix problems. Place is just a complete joke. Two times in a row I was forced to go to TD down the street to take care of my transactions, and third time I told them I'd be closing my account and they didn't even care.

Worst customer service I have ever seen, the employees are far to busy socializing with we eachother, Not one person has the slightest clue about anything they should and it seems that there are alwAys 12 employees but only 2 ever work!!!!! I was looking to set up a certain account but was informed by a worker that they didn't have what I was looking for , I knew they did as it said so online. I had to go to Sydney to sign up, later I was told in Glace Bay that they do offer the product and have for a little bit

Ok so I'm only writing this because the bank has such a low rating and reputation. Obviously, everyone will have their own opinion but this bank is pretty decent considering its location. My experience.Called three times..no response -1star, couldn't get ahold of Oliver either so w/e. Decided to investigate in person. Greeted with 3 plus security guard doing rounds. Ok so this place probably sucks for having angry people, its downtown. Confirmed, signage at every teller saying we won't deal with verbal abuse. So their defenses are up, I get it. I'm polite, ask the security where I can open an account. He asks if I have ids. I do. Talk to the teller for 5 min. Get a walk in appointment, wait about 15 min (I'm lucky). Painless and quick, not what I expected... Staff was very nice once they could see I wasn't an a$$hol. Bottom line. Great service but busy as #!@%... its downtown

Every time we go to the 2990 Bloor St W Branch, customer care is AWFUL. Nearly all cashier employees are not customer oriented. Moreover, they do not seem to be interested in helping or solving simple issues. Most are very much slow, delaying simple transactions. They do not appear to be happy. Not sure if this is a combination of individual personalities, the leadership of the branch manager, etc. We have tried other branches (1 Queen St, Downtown Toronto; etc) which usually offer better services. Suggestion: The manager and employees at 2990 Bloor St W deserve to know the degree of unhappiness of customers (see other reviews), formal training in customer care. If they are NOT interested in improving, they should be welcome to look for another job. We, customers, deserve a better service.

This location has went downhill over the years with high staff turnovers and slipshod financial advice. Cyrus and Shirley both left the branch, leaving my accounts in a bit of a mess. Thankfully Jenna has been clearing most of issues and I'm very grateful she's still around. I'm hoping things will improve again; if not, I rather do my major transactions back at Mayfair branch or look into other options elsewhere.

Amazing service always! The team at this branch is one of the best in the city. I have been banking here for more than 3 decades. I visit them daily to perform complicated transactions. Every task is completed perfectly and competently. I have never waited more than a free short minutes in the line. They are friendly, courteous and professional. I bank with many institutions and this one if is by far my favourite. I have gotten to know many of the Client Ambassadors there, and I genuinely appreciate their efforts and attention to detail.

Never open when people are getting off work, 5pm never works for anyone in the oil & gas industry. Basically one has to take time off just to go into the bank. This is an industry town there should be banks open late at least until 6pm or 7pm.

Nobody at this branch has the fainest clue what they are doing. I have a cheque from my insurance company to pay off an auto loan through CIBC. A teller named Jeff had no idea what to do with it. I got sent to the sales department and told I have to open an account and deposit the cheque into the ATM. I was there for an hour and a half. The money was removed from my account with no explanation. I went in again to figure out what happened. Once again the teller had no idea what to do. I am told the cheque is gone and I need to get a new one from my insurance. The manager did not even have the decency to get out of his chair to come talk to me. Avoid this branch and CIBC in general. I never had any problems with TD bank.

I have been involved with CIBC Hillside in dealing with my mother's banking, and subsequently, her Estate. While staff does come and go, I am very satisfied with the assistance I have been given. Emails have been replied to promptly, and the advice has been sound. It is a busy branch, and probably needs more staff, but I have no complaints at this time.

The best CIBC branch I know. They were very helpful with the inquiries that my wife and I had. They gave us individual attention and took care of our business with a high degree of detail and prudence. This is a building review. The building is on the City of Edmonton historic resources. Built in 1929 it is a prime example of late renaissance revival commercial building. It has been renovated a few times over the years, but in 1999 it was restored by CIBC. It’s a great looking building inside and out.

I had an appointment with Chris Tang the Senior Financial Services rep and I am beyond impressed. I went in looking for information to build my credit up. Unfortunately what I was looking for was not offered by CIBC. He then looked into other options for me to start saving. Chris was professional, friendly, and very informative. If I could give 0 stars I would, do not bank here. Go ANYWHERE else. Over the past 2 years, this bank has given us nothing but headaches. 1. When the house was initially mortgaged, there was an agreement to have the installation of a new septic system added to the mortgage balance. Well a year later when we actually go through with the work, we get a check that doesn't even cover the amount they confirmed we would be getting since there were fees that had never been mentioned. Okay, not the end of the world but I'm not impressed. That's money that should have been payed off over the next 25 years, not in an immediate payment. 2. Following a separation, the mortgage was taken over in full. It took the bank over a YEAR to finalize the paperwork for the transfer or ownership, and this has resulted in a second payment of "welcome taxes" for our property which we cannot avoid paying due to the banks lack of timeliness. 3. I addition to this, we have been waiting for a call regarding arrangements that could be made for the bank to correct its mistakes. We have left soooo many messages with the person who is supposedly handling our case. We've called client care since we never get a call back. The best they have been able to do was forward an email with their manager in CC, which hasn't changed anything. 3 weeks and many more messages later, still no call back. Honestly just terrible service and they have no consideration for their customers. Our mortgage is locked in for 5 years and they obviously know we can't really go anywhere else until then.

Worst customer service I have ever recieved anywhere, disgusting service fees from cibc and very poor staff at this location, closing my account tomorrow, would not recommend Cibc to anyone planning on keeping their money, when asked to reverse some of the $70 of service charges I was charged because of them not switching my account over and they made me wait 2 hours for an apointment just to switch the account and not reimburse me anything, searches on the internet reveal CIBC is easily the worst bank in Canada, do not start an account here or at any CIBC location.

Some of the worst service I've ever had. Teller could not help me even after going back for the same issue three times in a week. Easily the worst branch in Edmonton. Despite almost one year of consistent reviews and in-person requests for more tellers, nothing has been done. Extremely poorly managed. This branch and it's manager have single-handedly moved my Edmonton spending account and my business account to TD. The only account I had left at a bank other than Canada Trust. Unfortunate.

Terrible and the worst service. I just wanted my chequing account closed. First they told me they do not have $3,500 cash for my account balance, but will give me a money order instead. They told me the money order fee is waived. I agreed with it. Then three people was standing in front of the computer and discussed how to close a chequing account. :( Finally, they charged me $7.5 fee for the money order. They could not close my account, because their computer was dead. I did close chequing account at TD before. TD staff are knowing what they are doing and what a bank should do.

You have the right to cash your Government of Canada cheque at any bank for free, even if you’re not a customer. Refused to cash check cause they couldn't make money. I’m angry every time I leave this branch. It’s so bad I’ve considered closing all my accounts and changing banks. There are always five or six staff on hand yet only one or a maximum two of them can actually perform retail banking duties. You know, the things 90% or your customers are coming into a bank brach to do. The only competent person in the place is Catherine. Other tellers are absolutely ridiculous. I’ve lost my mind multiple times dealing with Moira. Shameful service.

Since: Jody And Ctrus at the branch have been really diligent and pleasant and worked hard to assist with my financial needs. I so a appreciate that and thankyou for all of your help! All is well . Ling - the branch manager was not only ineffective but rude.She barked orders at me, told me she opened my account so she knows me - which she did not do - I have been a customer there for fourteen years and she has been employed there for one.She then , after making several false assumptions, went on to recite ineffectual company policy to the end that I left the bank, solved the problem myself with outsode personnel and directed the personnel to HER to explain. I am now leaving the bank as I cannot give my money or my time to people who are not only ineffectual but incredibly rude. NOT that it will matter at all to CIBC - as customer relations are not what they care much about. If you want good tellers, try Henry, Lucy or Liam. If they can stand the management LING long enough to stay at the branch. Unbelievable!

Very bad service felt like I was getting interrogated with the same question I kept giving the same answers to. All I was trying to do was recover my lost card and they just kept refusing to give me it knowing I was the right full owner of the card. This never happend once it was twice they told me to call a number to get my card and ended up answering the same questions when I was talking to the teller while on the phone at the same time. still dont have a card and they still want to charge my card leaving it in overdraft.

Probably the most incompetent bank I’ve ever been to. The tellers are completely lost and their manager (Asian guy who sits behind them) is completely disinterested and provides zero guidance or service... are you even awake? What a nightmare of a branch this is.

I dropped by its ATM yesterday and it had no envelope for deposit. I understand since it was a Sunday. I went again around 20:30 and the door was locked. Isn't ATM supposed to be 24/7? Inconvinency might be your trademark.

Like RBC and probably all of the major banks, CIBC gets suckier every year in terms of customer service. Long wait times on the phone. The usual crappy interest rates on savings. Financial "specialists" who steer you into mutual funds with outrageous management fees. Don't even think of converting currency here. Knightsbridge will give you a much better deal.

Absolute worst banking experience I have had. I have been trying to withdraw my money for over a year now. They don't pick up their phone even on business hours. Literally all of their employees are sick all the time apparently and can't come to the phone. They transfer me to telephone banking otherwise who for some reason can't do anything. They make me feel like my money isn't even my money and as soon as I get it I'm leaving this bank. Absolutely atrocious, I'm furious with these people. DONT EVER TAKE YOUR MONEY HERE

Would rather go to Servus or even RBC... when calling the number listed they have no voice mail set up, the 1800 number is always a longer wait than usual to talk to someone... opened an account here to cash cheques but they take so long to clear...
