Kids loved it
This was a great day for our 7.5, 5, and 2.5 year olds. Our 2.5 year old was over 36" so we ended up having to pay for him but it was totally worth it because he got to do so much more. We had purchased our tickets online and just added his on after he was measured. I would recommend doing the same if you aren't sure about whether they are under 36" (free) or above 36". If you purchase a ticket and they end up being below 36" I'm not sure that you would get a refund. The little kid area (under 10 I would say, and only if there's a little sibling) was great! Also, the rides my 2.5 year old couldn't go on were always right near rides or activities that he could do, which was convenient and helpful! Cons: Lunch took FOREVER (hot dog, fries, nuggets) - over 30 min - even though it isn't a sit-down restaurant. Our two older kids could have gone on the bigger waterslides but there was a line just to get a tube, let alone for the slide itself.
Great bang for your buck lots for the kids to do and fun for parents as well.
Its so fun there...
Waterslides are OK , nice place for younger families if your children will go on the slides. I'd say kids a bit older say past 11 will probably be bored pretty quickly of anything save the waterslides. I think you get my point , on a cold wet day probably not worth it. However on a warm wet day , you could enjoy the slides and have no line ups.
Great park, tho I hate that parents that are not going on rides, just taking in kids still have to pay full price. Should be the same set up as sandspit!
Had a 4 year old euth us and he was able to enjoy everything's but one side .. Was wonderful
Great! Lots of fun but water slide line-ups are too long!!!!
Great place. Kids had a blast.
Something for every kid age range.
It was great! Kids had a ball.
Even with covid-19 this place was still a blast. The lines are a little shorter. You need masks for the rides. But you can bring food in. There are in and out privileges. And the pool is very refreshing. FYI: of you're swimming you can't have a swim mask, only goggles.
Fun but park is getting old and a little expensive
Lots to do for kids of all ages. Great place to spend the entire day clots of picnic areas. Both wet and dry activities for the whole family.
Great park for younger children. Park would be a bit small for teenagers.
Great place for kids and grown up kids also
Nice family place for family fun
The park is good for little kids or big kids on the water slides. They need more rides and a good cleaning on some of the older attractions (they are getting very run down). One of their newest rides only worked once of the 5 days we were there. It is only worth going if part of the ride and slide package.
Great water slides here and the roller coaster is fun
Jen and the gang here
It be awesome if there was carts so ppl that have a hard time walking can experience on how fun it can be
Great place for younger kids, wish more attractions had of been open, very clean, and we'll kept.
Good for young kids and family. Friendly staff, a lot of ride/activity options. Free parking.
Something to do if you need it. Seemed a little steep in pricing for what they have. Water park?... I've been to hotels with more slides.... the kids enjoyed it.
Just came back from a great day at Shining Waters. Took 4 kids from 12-4:30. Lines ups were reasonable, new roller coaster was awesome! Clean facilities, polite staff. Just great!
Staff at Shining waters was absolutely fantastic. They were very gracious and deserved every star! The man at the pumpkin patch and carousel was especially kind, and was amazing with the kids.
Enjoyed the day with our three year old. The few things I thought needed attention were, some adult staff to light a fire under the student staff. The work ethic was weak. The other thing that would be nice is, a few more water attractions for the under 42" height group. Overall, we would go back, just wouldn't be a day trip to PEI. It would have to a longer stay .
Great fun for the family. Lots of water based fun plus other rides. Plan on staying a full day. Arriving at opening is recommended. Do the water slides right away to avoid the long lines that form later in the day. Food is adequate and a bit overpriced, but not as bad as it could be. If you have a family and are in the Cavendish area, you should really spend a day here.
It's a great place, something for all ages! My 2 year old and 7 month old love the kiddie pool area!!
Had a great time - rollercoaster was the hit of the day for my son, wife and myself
A fun family tourist destination with lots to do and a wonderful waterpark with a small zoo. The place could use an update.
Lots to do fun for all ages ,petting zoo swimming for young and old rides and trail through the woods
Fun place with lots of different attractions from water slides to a roller coaster, paddle boats and some mysterious illusion rooms. Fun place for kids of all ages!
Good fun, but the pigeon poo really dampens the mood when you're getting splashed waiting for the slide
We spent the entire day here with 8 kids and had a blast. It may be due to the fact that we went early in the season, but we had no issues with wait times. Our kids ranged from 2-9 and they all loved the whole park which took about 5 hours to complete. We started with the paddle boat rides, then went into the woods where there was a tree house, a rollercoaster, a tipsy house, and a spook trail rocket ship. Then we took the suspension bridge back to the main section and checked out the story time woods on the opposite side of the property. When we were leaving the woods a magic was just beginning. This gave us enough time to get the picnic lunch ready while the kids enjoyed the show and had balloon animals given to them. After lunch the kids checked out the mirror house and the haunted swamp and then we let them loose at the water park; the small kids in the wading section and the big kids on the slides. This took a good hour and everyone really enjoyed it. After the water park, we moved on to some ice cream followed by a trip to the barn and rides consisting of spinning pumpkins, cork gun shooting range and a merry go round followed up with a hay ride(this was kind of slow, but the littlest ones enjoyed it). We finished the day with a trip to the pirate ships and paddle boats on the other side of the property. See you next year!
Was very fun, are little guy was aloud to go on most of the ride and activities! The price is a bit pricy, and it was really hot even at 10am. Over all experience very good.
The family had a blast
The lockers are a 1 time use and there is nothing on them to attach to your swimsuit. Bring a large safety pin. There's 7 slides, 3 are for little kids. The body slides aren't very fast, the 2 tube slides are a blast. The cannon-bowl tube slide made up for a lot. We went on a cloudy day with a small amount of people. The price is more expensive than magic mountain and its less fun. The changing rooms aren't the cleanest and i saw a lot of bandaids at the park.
Too busy. Should be able to rent your own tube for the day. Line ups were awful
Bigger than it seems, look out for the alien crash landing.
Bought a weeklong pass (in PEI for three days) for two kids to both shining waters and sand spit in cavendish for $170 thinking we could probably make it work as we would be at both places several times over next few days. Arrived at shining waters only to be told that we (the adults) had to pay an additional $55 so we could accompany the kids to the water slides and wait while they enjoyed the morning. I explained that we aren’t doing any rides only watching and letting girls do the slides — told that was the policy. We were a little surprised to say the least. To expect us to pay an additional $55/day after buying passes isn’t cool. Definitely could have explained that when we bought two passes for 8 year olds. So......end of review.... Going to the beach ....
Good mix of a small water and fun Park.
Great fun. Closes early
Run down and expensive. Toddler pool has broken railing with rusty nails, holes in the floor of the pool, and not all equipment in the pool is functioning. The chairs in the canteen are weak and sun baked. My 70 year old mother sat in one of the chairs and it broke and she fell to the floor. The fun house is missing its top sign. The story book village has a house for the children to play in but there are several rusty nails sticking out. Several attractions need a paint job.
Horrible time at this park. Their staff (who is made up of all teenagers) need to be more diligent when it comes to height restrictions. I took my son up to the yellow and blue body slides and was told he couldn't go down because of the color of his bracelet. There was a boy the exact same height next to us that was able to go down the slide while I had to turn around and walk a crying boy down the stairs through the crowd!! I was furious!! Then again, 4 kids in a row even shorter than my son were able to go down. I was so mad I walked to the gate and they couldn't do anything for me. The park is also quite run down and delapitated for the price they make you pay. Rotten wood and faded attractions, as well as overpriced, deep fried grocery store chicken nuggets and fries. We paid for a week pass and it's definitely not worth it
Great place for the kids. They have a waterpark, pool, animals, rides for the kids, rollercoaster and different little other adventures. If you only have 1 day at cavendish I would recommand coming here over sandspit.
Great waterslides! Long lineups for tubes
Not Autism friendly!! If you have autistic children. Go elsewhere... or even if you support autism community... go elsewhere.
Excellent place, fun for the whole family!
The kids were very disappointed this year to find they had cut the roller coaster ride in half. Last year it went around twice. This year only once. It lasted about 10 seconds. I bought a week pass and couldn't talk the kids into going into going back.
Lots of fun for the family. Would give 5 stars, but some parts of the park are in serious need of maintenance. It was the same when we were there 2 years ago pre-covid. They have had a year with fewer visitors and could have taken the time to replace rotten deck boards and to make sure all nails are hammered in. Some of the issues should make them fail a basic safety inspection.
Kids loved it
Kids loved it!
Such an amazing experience. Super affordable too!!
Had an amazing day with our 5 month old there was so much even for him to do
So much fun. A place to go and have fun all day for the whole family. Lots of waterpark fun and also other rides. Bring lots of sunscreen for everyone you will be in the sun all day having a blast!
Excellent fun place for kids and kids at heart.
Nice place. Water slides were great. My husband and daughter loved the tube slides.
Great place to take young children, but has things for the whole family to enjoy including waterslides. Recommend buying tickets online for a discount!
My 3 year old had a great time here. However one of the rides was out of service at the time. The paddle boats rudders didn't work. When at the pool, staff told us we weren't allowed to use the puddle jumper on our son, had to use their life jacket or nothing. Unfortunately, their life jacket caused my son to tilt forward unsafely whereas the puddle jumper keeps him upright. We left the pool because of this and went back to the toddler area.
Great park.... Best splash pad for little kids in the maritimes.... Our kids loved it
Good place for family
Lines ups are sometimes longer than normal but all in all a great spot to kill a day.
Nice place, really, but a bit sparse and the weather wasn't great. I don't hold that against them... Just... a nice place.
I expected there to be more water slides. But it was still a good time
It's so much fun for the kids. It's definitely a full day a great entertainment. It's a must while visiting the Island.
It is an awesome place and i might be working there this summer ????
I went there two times loved it and going again this summer really fun things to do great family place to if you don't want to go on water slides there's other fun stuff there to.
Amazing and fun but had to wait an hour to get in
Excellent for families with younger children 4 to 10 years old
I visitted this park on an overcast, humid day with kids ranging from 1 year to 9 years old! There was truly something for everyone. We all had a blast. Great picnic spots and shaded areas, lots of washrooms, fun rides and waterslides. Live music interaction was a real treat!
Fun water park with something for all ages
It was fun but people were not respecting social distancing and staff were not enforcing it my childs personal space was violated by a local resident that refused to respect his personal space
lots of fun to be had, its a little cold but that never killed anyone.
Great family friendly park amusement park with water slides, kids pool, family pool, amusement rides, live entertainment and food. Roller coaster and water slides are all relatively new and well kept, park is very clean and well maintained.
A great park, definitely worth the entrance fee. My 6 and 8 year old kids had a blast. The weather was a big factor too, hot and sunny.
The best place to have a great time in PEI!
The lineups for the water slides can be long, but there's lots of other things to do, especially for kids aged 2-6. The kids loved it.
Nice Park. Kids had a blast
Great for kids!
Love going here, go every year!
Always worth the trip
Its SUPER FUN !! had a great time !
This is a yearly experience for my family. Always a great time.
Fun for the family, but showing some age with some run down pieces. Fun spooky houses, water slides, even a small rollercoaster.
Amazing amazing amazing. When ever i am in the area i always bring my family
Loved it. 2018 staff was nicer than 2019 staff though.
A great place to spend the day with your family. Lots of fun things to do. The restaurant there is nothing much, better off packing a lunch.
The waterslides are fun and the woods have many different things to do
Lots of fun for the whole family ! Wheel chair accessible for those who need it. Nice for those with small kids if you need to bring stroller too. There's food on site if one prefers to stay there to eat a meal with family and friends.
Fun place but gets overcrowded guick
4 water slides (2 slides with tubes) splash pad and pool. A lot of time is needed to get tube and then again to stay in the line with the tube to slide. Children should be very patient. Other facilities are included to the price: rides, little pet zoo, little trail. Big territory, more can be added to the park.
Long wait times but still fun.
An absolute must do. Love this place.
Family fun day worth stopping in to cool Down!!!
If you like water parks with 4 slides and a roller coaster, this is one.
Excellent theme park... Perfect for kids and parents's friendly
Always very clean. The rides are spaced out nicely so that you have a little bit of walking, but very little waiting. My daughter doesn't like water slides yet, so I can't comment on those.
Clean. Safe. Tons of stuff to do.
We spent a whole day here last week. We did the rides in the morning and then the water park in the afternoon. Two of the major rides were down for maintenance (The surfs up and the roller coaster) which was disappointing for the $90 plus dollars we spent to get in. The place definitely needs some updates. It looks kind of neglected, it has a lot of wasted space which you spend walking from ride to ride. It has a lot of potential to be better if they invested in it! The nice thing tho was there was barely any line ups which was great for my impatient 7 year old. The water park is small but has everything you need for an afternoon of fun. I do agree with another review that the bathrooms near the water park were not cleaned once the 4 hours we were there. They were filthy with toilet paper every where. I really try and be positive but this place was kind of disappointing but has so much potential
A great, well run familyoriented spot with excellent staff and it's a great value for the price. Lots to do for toddlers up to adults. We go here e ery year - it's a family favourite.
Wonderful! Fantastic! Clean! Perfect place to take the kids! Would definitely go back!
Love this spot. Have been going at least once a year for the last 6 years. Went today as a treat for my youngest's fifth birthday. Still enjoy the slides very much, and my oldest was finally brave enough to tackle "The Bowl" - she is now 8 ????. We hang out on the deck near the kiddie slides, bring our own snacks and lunch, and stay the whole day. Great family day. I must however mention that it is probably time to update some of the equipment: the chairs - now quite scarce - are either rusted or the seat is shredding, or both... This makes them unsafe and uncomfortable. The tubes are also becoming insufficient, even on a slow day like today, and most of them are leaking and so are under-inflated. Hope the administration will step up and give the place the amenities that were there a few years ago. But, overall, we all had a great time.
It is beautiful.
Great way to spend an afternoon...not too much else there than the water slides.
The water slides and kids splash and slide zone were really great. The pirate area with little roller coaster and paddle boats were the perfect level of intensity for my 5 and 9 year old kids. Parts of the place are a bit old and sketchy and in need of some tlc, but charming and silly and we had tons of fun.
Sall good only teo water slides that are reall good but overall like thats okay me and the boys just sent her on the bumber boats
Maybe due to covid but several attractions were out of service but price was still the same. Patking lot maybe had 100 cars at most and there were still lineups fir rhe big slides. Cant imagine what it would be like if it was busy. Kids will love it. Some slides and kiddie rides sums it up.But grandparents who arent going on any attractions still pay $27 to walk around.
While the kids had fun, it was understaffed and not all rides/slides were open. Supervision on the toddler slides was nonexistent, on toddler was consistently running in front of others. And sliding into people. Staff at the beeavertails place tried to shortchange 2/3 of the beavertails then acted like it was a burden to make them make the ordered amount. This will definitely be a place we come once a year when family comes to visit instead of a fun family day multiple times over.
Clean lots of fun for kids
Good to cool down, but don't expect to stay or pay for all day. Best suited for young chidren. Liked that they had a large covered kennel in a shaded area for dogs. Bring a cooler on wheels, snacks, stroller, lots of water. Restaurant wasn't great; expensive and the smallest amont of fries I have seen anywhere. Good hot dogs and chicken strips.
Reall great fun day with the family only thing I wish there was more of was garbage cans
Water slides are great but I do worry someone is going to seriously get hurt in the line up. There is no order to the line ups for slides, you have a lot of excited kids waiting on stairs that are very high up and they are all carrying innertubes and those plastic dingys. Last time we went i cringed and was so nervous waiting to see a child fall to the concrete below. Older kids were pushing on the stairs and each time they moved they couldn't see the smaller kids around them because of the innertubes they were carrying. There is not a lot for older kids except the water slides and nothing for toddlers either. Ages 8, 9 and 10 would enjoy the place though.
It is great place to visit with family. Different spots for different age groups.
So much fun and so much to do. Definitely need the entire day to enjoy all of the park
Nice clean place, cute cottages. Friendly host
Great for family's with kids.
Great place to spend the day with your children
Great little water park, it sounds cheesy but it's really fun for all ages. Not a bad way to spend the day.
Great
Had a great time with the kids. My boy just turned 3 and can now go on almost everything. They had a blast.
Great place to cool off I would suggest going to sand spit in the morning and then hitting up shinning waters in the afternoon to get cooled off but that's just my opinion
Great family place friendly attentive staff
It's a really nice place, but the rides seemed like kiddie rides, even the roller coaster. So if you're not a fan of water slides it might be boring.
Was always fun as a kid but driving past it now I can see it’s sorting to get outdated and sort of dilapidated. Could use a few new attractions and some tlc. Still worth a visit though
Really awesome and fun place large variety of stuff to do and enjoy family fun entertainment
Great for older kids not much for the toddlers. Nice and clean. Lots of walking around.
Need more shaded areas but overall a ton of fun for kids ages 5-15
Lots of fun for the kids and family. Lots to do, plan for the whole day there. Extremely long waits for the tube rides took away from the experience. Also, rule is you can't go down the medium size waterslides with your child, so that dissapointed our 7 & 5 year olds that wouldn't go on their own but were getting bored in the kiddie pool. We'll be back again, good value for the price.
I love this place
A lot of fun for the family, I was so impressed to see favourite features of the former rainbow valley had been retained for the new park!
Definitely a must for anyone one with children vacationing on the island. Prices are a little high but the kids will have a great time either way.
Needs more water slides or water based activities. A lot of walking for few rides
Love it can’t wait to go hopefully this week love the rides and the food also the games
Nice place to take the kids
Great fun! Good covid measures in place as well. Spend the whole day to get your money's worth.
It was alot of fun
Well everything is new with covid, and weird but that's our new way of living. There isn't much things for kids 4 and under, and the only thing they can't really do unassisted is the splash pad and the water is freezing! The younger workers I found were mute. They didn't speak to us AT ALL, getting lifejackets for pedal boats and stuff and even with the kids saying "thank you" after we'd get not a single response. Now there's an older guy who runs the merry go round and that man is the sweetest person at the park- he interacts with the kids, talks and makes you feel welcomed.
Shining waters is a new start to an old park. The entrance is right next to the exit, which is easy to miss. You drive down a lane beside some cottages to reach the parking lot. The parking lot is spacious and nicely layed out. There is a lot of Green space right after the entrance where it would be nice and quiet for a picnic. The park is sectioned off into a few different themes. The water slides are definitely the main attraction, but there is more to this park. The storybook land is a cute walk in the forest that has some characters and different items to see. I recommend this area for littles. Bandits barnyard is a barn and pen with live animals and a little interactive area. Again, cute but recommended for littles. There are amusement park rides scattered here and there like a carousel, little cars and boats, spinning pumpkins, a couple rollercoasters, walk-through fun houses, and a submarine that goes around in a virtical circle. Discovery woods is another walking area in the woods with places to walk through and places to see. Definitely recommended for young teens and older kids. Buccaneer bay is awesome, a fast rollercoaster that doesn't seem like much at first. 2 walk through pirate ships, for little kids. And paddle pirate ships that were great for the family. Lighthouse on the warf is just plain paddle boats but it looks like there is more coming. Our 4yr and 18mth liked the park alot and I know us adults also had good fun. I recommend this park for everyone depending on what you are into. Just be wary the price for adults is high for the amount of activities there are and I can see this park adding more items in the future.
Good fun. Not too expensive to get in. Get there before lunch if you want to avoid line-up's at the waterslide. Great for little kids
This place is awesome and very family friendly!! We had a great time and my kids ended up tired, but very happy. They want to go back every year when we visit PEI again. The only criticism I would have is that the place was extremely crowded and the lines to go in the main attractions or into their big swimming pool were just too long or the pool was extremely crowded. But staff was friendly, and the park's layout was great. Pretty cool place. We liked it very much
I want aware of this being a children focused park so it was a bit disappointing in that respect. However it still looked like fun for younger children
Excellent place to bring the whole family, lots of fun for all ages
Rides and the waterpark are fun. Some other sections of the park such as the "Great Adventure" attraction have fallen into disrepair and are in dire need of maintenance. Worst part about the park has to be the mixing of water slides and a petting zoo. Animals carry parasites, and children don't wash their hands, which leads to an unfortunate few contracting said parasites after the children go from the petting zoo to the water slides. Was bedridden for a week. Until the petting zoo is removed... would return for the rides, not for the slides.
It’s a really nice place but lacking on the side of maintenance. Paddle boats couldn’t be used because the rudders and paddles were choked up with weeds. Surf board ride was not operational. Bumper cars were not operational. Greatest adventure stations did not work properly. Rocket ship illusion drum was not operational. Bathrooms were very poorly maintained (dirty and plugged toilets) The main pool was murky and you could not see the bottom yet it is only 3.5 feet deep. Many of the lounge chairs had broken struts for holding the backs upright. Water is not heated in the pool or slides. Kids all commented that the ocean water was warmer ???? Canteen lines were so disorganized and slow, as are the water slide lines. Waited in line for 1 hour to order a beaver tail. Waited 45 minutes to get a hotdog and fries. Waited 45 minutes to get a water slide tube and then another 15 minutes to actually use the slide. And the lines were not very long....just slow. Honestly, we tried to make the best of it but no matter where we turned it seemed like something was either broken, dirty or disorganized and poorly managed. I feel bad leaving this review but the owners need to know how patrons are feeling. I encountered many frustrated parents throughout the property, some of whom felt they were bamboozled for their money. Better management and better maintenance = 5 stars.
Absolutely great place to bring your family, it is a very clean and fun park with tons of rides and other small activities the whole family can enjoy!
Grat family spot but there a complete waste of space at the start just hills but in all a great time also could use more shade and tables
You Can go to Shining Water Family Fun Park and I use to love Family Water fun Park the Best once I Were a Giant Man (7 years old Humen) Until Prospect take over But wont You move to and check out Prospect You will love it there the best ever in The World You now know that for now and on
Decent place, worth going once
Kids had a great time here.
We really enjoyed this place. The water slides were a blast!
Beautifully laid out. The staff seemed engaged with the visitors. Not overly crowded. Kids loved the slides and pool. One of the better attractions in the area.
Great place for kids and adults to spend some time. The splash pad is great for younger children and the large waterslides entertain everyone else. The food is a bit pricy but find me a place that isn't like that.
Great slides and other rides too
Awesome fun place!!! Will definately go back...too!!
It's an amusement park. The line for the biggest ride was slow. But frankly the rest are fine. Lunch is $11 per person snacks are available but expensive. $2.50 for a bottle of water. But at least if you're trying everything only a few rides had any wait.
This park is well suited to younger children. I took a 3 and 4 year old here and they really enjoyed themselves and went on many different rides, including the roller coaster! (the roller coaster previously belonged to Crystal Palace). The reason I'm giving the park four stars instead of five is because things in the park are VERY spaced out. Too much, in my opinion. The rides are oriented towards young children who are not capable of walking the distances between the rides multiple times. Trying to get a 3 and 4 year old up to the picnic area felt like pure torture because its SOOOOO far away from the rides. The best ride, the roller coaster, is at the furthest end of the park's main entrance. I don't think this is something that can be changed now, but feels like something the park designers should have been more mindful of.
Very dated. Really needs work.
Lots of fun for the kids. Social distancing and masks were worn by all staff. Lines were not too long but wait times could be up to 45 minutes for the tube rides. Only place to eat was Beaver Tails and the line there for lunch was long and menu limited. They are doing well with what they have during these Covid Days.
Awesome time
Great value compared with a lot of other amusement parks in the region. Very clean and the addition of the roller coaster was a great change. I'll keep a couple stars until the mirror maze is pulled from service. Its an old, outdated and unsafe ride. The moving parts would pose a hazard if a young one fell and jammed a finger into the steel plates.
A full afternoon of rides, roller coasters, animals and fun. A pleasant day.
Kids enjoyed it, but I found the value wasn't there. If you are on an Island with beautiful beaches, why do you need a waterpark?
Great place for family fun. Amusement rides. Animals. Waterslides and pool Great place to spend a day in pei at a very reasonable price
Grate place for all family. Amazing water slides.
Cheap, and clean. Lots of family fun.
Food was chesp but u could tell it was cheap the attraction itself i was expecting more than just the 4 waterslides they were so busy and took time
The kids loved it. It's small but still entertaining.
Great time with friends.
Good place, great for families and a week pass will save you a heap of cash
I’d give this place a 3 star but I’m considering the fact that it’s on the island. Kept calling it PEI’s wonderland while we were there cos the scale to Canada’s wonderland is probably about the same as the scale of Pei to Ontario. It’s small, but it did the job I guess.
Sprawling waterpark with some land based rides. Not much for lunch food options. Oddly you cannot wear diving goggles there that cover your nose,a first for any pool our family has been to. Seems to mostly be ran by kids and teenagers.
Some rides and slides not running, despite them running last year when we went so not sure what the reasoning is there. But besides that there is still plenty to do, it kept us and our 3 year old daughter going for 3 hours straight! She had a blast.
Fun time. But will be our last visit. Time for MFG to add some new slides and attractions. Place has loads of potential but management is not seizing it.
We have fun there, every year. The new surf ride was fun! Also adding beavertails was a nice touch!
Fun for all ages... slides are fun Fun, fun, 10 to 15 min wait for tube and a slide... Not bad. I had a blast and the kids did too of course. My only compaints is seating is very limited, you have to get there super early to get a decent spot or even a spot to sit. Plus the cut back hours by 1 or two hours but still same price. Tisk, tisk. We will be back again for sure.????
This place looked so promising from the outside, but unfortunately the experience of my family and I was far from ideal. My family entered in two groups.. the first group went in around 3pm and paid almost $90 for 4 people (basically the same price as someone who came in the morning and stayed all day). What made the price harder to swallow was 1. they were never advised that they offer a CAA discount which would have saved some money and 2. The bathrooms were disgusting. If you're going to be paying that much money to get in when the park is 3 hours away from closing, you expect the place to be kept in the same shape as at opening. My $90 at 3pm is worth just as much as the person who pays it when the park first opens in the morning with clean bathrooms, and so I feel that I should be provided the same service/cleanliness. To shrug and say the bathroom is filthy because it is near the end of the day just doesn't cut it. There was also a dirty unshaven man stumbling around ogling children and disappearing into the bushes when someone points a camera in his direction. Suuuper super sketchy if you ask me. Whatever you do, keep a firm grip on your children and keep your eyes open. I went into the park at 4pm when there is a slightly reduced rate. It's a good time to go because the lines for the slides and rides are quite a bit shorter. It didn't hurt that some rain showers had just moved through and people were leaving. The bathrooms were still gross though. My 7 year old nieces went to go ride the roller coaster and it wasn't until other family members checked that we realized the locking mechanism on their seat restraint bar was NOT working. The attendant (barely old enough to be able to ride herself) did not check it, and when she was called over she just shrugged and said "well I guess that ones broken then"... um ok... major safety issue.. luckily they switched cars and no one needed to be scraped off the surrounding tarmac (that day at least, I worry for the future). The lawns on the property are poorly maintained, the ponds stink and are choked with algae and muck and one just generally gets the feeling that the ownership here is trying to cut corners and isn't particularly concerned with the well being of either the property or guests. They manage to be finicky about tiny inconsequential rules but completely neglect the major ones. There were more issues, but at this point I don't think any more needs to be said. Will not go back
good for kids of all ages, with short lines and reasonably priced
Great family activity
A fun trip to take with the kids (it seems most appropriate for kids about 3-12). The water slides were the best, although the lines are long. The gift shop wasn't anything special. We got some Beaver Tails for a treat and those took longer than the waterslides. We waited over an hour and they were very expensive, but they were tasty. A fun day out all in all.
Lovely place. Lots of fun for everyone
Friendly staff. Exciting water slides. Fun amusement rides. Loved the roller coaster!
Horrible experience. This is the only waterpark I've been to where you are not allowed to wear prescription glasses on the slides. We waited in line to get tubes for the slides, THEN I was told I had to sign a waiver to wear them, after I got the tube. Okay, no problem. Waited 15 minutes (because no one was manning the first aid booth...), then finally got someone to get me a waiver. THEN they told me that the waiver is for the non-tube rides only, AFTER I signed the waiver. 4 park staff couldn't agree on the rules. This policy isn't posted on the website OR at the front gate. The front gate staff didn't say anything about the policy. No actual adults around- all staff under 20. Total waste of $54. If I'd known I wouldn't have taken my son.
Great place for kids to do dry & wet activities. Roller coaster was the only disappointment, kids could only do one run. When it was at Crystal Palace they did three runs bc it's a short coaster.
Great! Line ups for the slides weren't long! Was a great day.
What a rip off!! Costs way to much to get in for what they have to offer!! Slides are dry...got stuck on one of them. 1 adult ride which is the rollar coaster but yet adults have to pay the full rate when entering even tho they are not going to use any of the attractions!! Everyone pays the $27 fee. There is not much there for entertainment at all. Major rip off...go to sandspit
Great place for kids and adults. Go on the rides, then cool off at the waterpark
Don't listen to all the naysayers in these reviews. This place is great. Yes some rides are closed, we are in the middle of a pandemic, if they even do have replacements on order they would be backed up. This was well worth the money. Kids present for the day with our group were 13, 12, 7, and 5. The 13 and 12 year old kept busy and happy for 5 hours, the younger ones open to close. The staff were so friendly and POLITE. The park grounds are kept really clean, as I saw staff walking from ride to ride changing posts they were picking up any trash they saw. We will be back for sure.
Good variety of attractions for the size. Good multiple site pass options for those staying in the area for several days with a family.
Bit pricey for what's there but it was fun!
this place is the best waterpark i have ever been to. I highly recommend it. Why are you not at the FUN PARK!!?? never been
Lots of fun for the family!
The kids like it, that's all that matters to me.
I have 3 star because smoking control.
Love coming here with the family, my daughter enjoys everything, make sure you have a full day to enjoy everything
Love the new rollercoaster, even if it IS young kid friendly.
The kids loved it
Water slides are awesome! New roller coaster!
Awesome place for kids but honestly, there is nothing for adults. At least build a new pool please! It's not a big deal in terms of investment, but definitely will make me come again...
We have a great time with family and friends every year at Shining Waters. It's a highlight of summer for our kids on PEI. We pack a picnic lunch and stay for the day.
WAAAAAAAYYYY overpriced...and why such a long walk from the parking to the slides? There is potential for so much more with all the wasted space on the arduous, long walk to get to the main attraction...who cares about a pond and large amounts of lawn no one uses? a better variety if slides, etc, could utilize the space well, but for some reason there are only 4-5 crammed into one area. Magic Mountain in Moncton is a better deal and there is something enjoyable for everyone.
Lots of things to do. We spent most of the day here. The kids loved the rides and the water slides.
Alot of attractions were under development or very old. Seemed grimy like it was cleaned once this year. Employees are a bunch of kids that barely do anything they have 4 water slides everyone mostly use the funnel one. OK for young children under 10
We have visited a couple times a year for many years. Love the park, the rides and the water slides. However, this visit it was a busy day and the bathrooms were very dirty, especially in the main changing area. We had a good time, but this definitely diminished it.
What an absolute blast! Incredible experience for my first trip there! Will be back, 100% and highly recommended ???? ????
Fun waterslides, rides and a surprisingly exciting roller coaster for the small kids! So much for kids 12 and under and the teens had fun, too.
Was a great time for the money it cost. We had are our grandkids there and had a great time
Staff and people are awesome. My rating isn't about the people who works there at all. Everyone was smiling and helpfull. But for the price and the park itself, I do not recommend. There was only 4 slides for water attraction?and yes a rollercoaster and some rides but for a water park, it wasn't much of one. We were there 4 hours and had the chance to go on a double tube slide 3 times( which are 2 of the 4 slides). The the cost is similar to magic mountain which has a wave pool , lazy rivers and more than 7 slides I think. But nonetheless, we spend the remaining of the day at the pool at our motel after 4 hours at shinning water because the girls wanted to leave. The walk from the parking to the water park is so long , it makes you wonder why all that property is wasted with dirty ponds? They have the place to build more slides and water attraction and be a potential real water park?!. We will go again to PEI for sure, we did still have a great time:). Enjoy your vacation all!
Lots closed due to covid but still a ton of fun
Great for young kids. A little basic, but the waterslides are perfect for 2-12yo kids. Bring your sunscreen.
Was there Aug 7th 2021, was very impressed with the staff, young people taking safety seriously! Safety checks done everytime before starting the rides...on a hot day, they didn't slack! Life guards ensuring children are safe around the water. Well done!
Lots of all day fun for the whole family. Just a bit pricey. But something for everybody to enjoy
Went here with my 14 and 10 year old. A lot of the rides and attractions were not really for my kids...more suited to smaller kids. They used the waterslides for an hour or so and then we left. They have a canteen and Beavertails store. Grounds are clean
It's a water park.
Very fun place to kill a few hours with kids. If your child is under 42” tall, they are limited to the toddler area and pool which is a little boring. The 2 body water slides were a little lame. They weren’t very fast and I seemed to stick to the slide which slowed me down too much. The 2 tube slides were short, but fun.
A great way to spend a day or more. We bought the bracelet and came and went as we pleased. Alternated between the rides and the waterpark features over the times we went.
Great place to cool off. 4 large waterslides is perfect for the summer. Lots of great dry rides and attractions also.
Friendly staff, should be some raises in order for having to run around the park to cater to my every wish(1 staff for 3 or more rides)
I wasn't impressed because i thought there would be a few more attractions, especially for older kids, than there was...
We have taken the kids a few times and always enjoyed it. Line ups and wait times can get long on very nice days. Took us 30 or so minutes to get a tube and get down the slide. Great spot for kids, my 15 year old son was almost at the point of being bored. Roller coaster is a nice addition, should go around a couple of loops instead of just one!
Have a great afternoon with the kids staff was very polite and courteous
We had a great time.
I had so much fun can’t wait to go again.
My kids are 8 and under. They all enjoyed it!
its a great place for family and kids but does tend to get crowded after about 1:00 pm my advice it to go early in the morning for the best waterslide experience.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! There is something for everyone. My only complaint would be they need more food options when there.
Fun place for young kids. There is a shallow splash-pad kind of place for little kids where the depth is 12" or less. The lineups for slides are long, but the slides are super fun when you get to them. I would pack a lunch next time unless you like $8 hotdogs and Beavertails. We spent 6 hours there and got our money's worth for sure. Lots to see and do.
Didnt like having to purchase in advance with no possibility of regund as only had one very cold day. Food ecpensive but overall well worth yhe money. great pool stsff
Great fun filled day. Money well spent.
Nice. Well maintained. Not very robust. Lots of open spaces.
The kids loved it!!! A whole day of fun for the whole family
Come here multiple times, great place for kids 3 - 14 years old. Anyone older than that will probably not be very satisfied with the ride selection. I must say however that the two largest slides are quite good for all ages, but on a busy Saturday, expect a 50minute wait. The line ups are pretty crazy during peak time so I'd recommend coming on a weekday at lunch or super. Also most rides are quite run down and in need of a good scrub down... decently priced though.
It's a mixture of dry rides, or experiences. But also water slides and a pool. Just be prepared to pay for entry even if you're NOT taking part in anything
Really great family park for PEI.
Lots of fun for the family
My son was quite disappointed with their new policy against wearing a go pro camera on the water slides. They had previously allowed it if we signed a waiver.
Not many rides stairs to the waterslides were disgusting all you could smell was urine ... the petting zoo thing was pathetic none of the rides had any music just wasnt worth the money or the time
Great fun for the family. ????
Starting to get run down
Not recommended. Under staffed over prices
Great for young kids, had a blast with my son this year. Prices are fair but the pool could use an update. Needs to be larger to accommodate the amount of people.
Theres not many rides especially for small children only place to eat was beaver tails staff didn't care if people were social distancing long lineups for tubes freezing water Do Not Recommend
Lineups were ridiculously long for the water slides. 15 minutes of standing for a 30 second slide. I suppose its expected. The other rides were good though. It was my first time going there, so it was fun.
It was good
So fun for ages 3 up to 7 I'd say. We could easily spend another day there!
Great place to cool down on a hot day
Great place for young kids, not too many rides or slides, but fun. The swamp shack needs repairs. Only got pics of the rides, forgot the slides.
We had a great time @ Shining Waters. We will definitely be back.
Place needs updating and way more regular maintenance
So much fun.
Great park. Long lines for the waterslides though. Something for everyone.
Had such a fun time here! Excellent value for your money and plenty to keep kids (and adults) of all ages busy and happy! Pro tip - arrive before noon to avoid line ups for the water attractions!
It is a beautiful place and will go again.
Had an awesome time as usual. We go back every year.
We had a great time!
$25 a person , this place hasn't been updated since I don't know when, some rides were shut down or closed the kids rides had one person working two rides, the restaurant was closed, pop machines turned off...save your money folks and keep the nostalgia in your head this place is not worth your hard earned money.
Great place for the kids
Very fun for young and old.
Great for family fun good for all ages
Great water park but rides are lacking
My 4 year old did laps on the splash pad waterslides for hours!
This place is OK, me and my family went here one summer and it's quite interesting.
We got here early and spent the lion's share of the day here, split between exploring the park and rides/attractions and the water park. We loved the body slides and tube slides - highly recommended
My two year old loved it here! It is a great place for families with lots of stuff to do that can take up the whole day!
Was closed but looked fun
Great place for kids, we love the water slides and rollercoaster but I think the crooked house is our favorite.
I have been coming to PEI since I was a child. Shining waters has been in our adventures the last few years.. I never see them upgrade their equipment and keep things painted looking half decent. With all the money they make in the run of a year you would think they would use all that land they have when you enter into the park and make more rides for toddlers. My 2.5 was too short to ride on anything including the smallest roller coaser ever made . They have the submarine and the little cars that go around ( both lines are always full ) because its the only rides toddlers can go on. It was not a great day weather wise so we didnt attend the waterpark. Anyone entering has to pay 25$ even if you are not going on anything. Waste of money and wont be going back for a good long time. Start updating your park !!! Every year we go thw crowd gets slower and slower and now i see why. Same thing every year. If they didnt get crystal palace equipment it would have never had anything new.
Great place to cool off
I good place for kids
This place would be good for small kids. But definitely not for preteens, teens or adults.
Great little family fun park. Spent most of the day at the waterslides. Long lines through the day 15-20 minutes to get a tube and get down a slide. From 5:30-close 7pm, the lines were much shorter and kids could easily go up and down multiple times.
My kids loved it we went on a day where i still had to pay full price and only be there an hour which seemed unreasonable to me but its really great place for children!
A great little attraction lots to do for all ages. The tandem tube waterslide is the best way to go. There is a beavertails cafe on site and a coffee shop as well as a shaved ice cafe and a candy store near the entrance.
Very clean park, but don't expect much
Was a great day, no shortage of fun things to do!!
Cost is high for getting in. Especially if you don't plan or do not want to do the water entertainment. I suggest only going when the suns out and hardly any wind or you might find in cold. Also the place shuts down a hour or two too soon. So you only got between 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to do want you want. The place is still fun though.
We're locals and Took Our 3 year old Grandson. We all absolutely had a blast. From the Crazy Submarine ride My husband and Grandson rode 8 times. To our water fun in the Pool together and also Turtle Cove with age appropriate slides. We also found Adventure in Buccaneer Bay with again age appropriate things to do. So much fun also in Bandits Barn Yard. Thanks Shinning Waters Family Fun Park for the Memories. We the McKenna Three will be back!!!!
not worth what we paid to get in.rides were very disappointing. this was our 3rd year going with our children and we will not go again. We will go to Sandspit next year.
My 7 year old and 2 year old loved this place. Always a must visit on our summer trip to pei
It was small my children are use to Canada’s Wonderland. The two can not be compared with each other. It's works for a small town
Great place
It's a Great place to visit and have a Full Day of Fun.
Unfortunately a lot of attractions werent open. Mirror maze, rope bridge, car ride, storybook castle all closed. The pool is ankle deep so not really a pool more like a splash pad. The name is a misnomer there is no lake or pool to swim in. No rocket or anything in that neck of the woods that os OPEN. We traveled two provinces over to come here and it's not worth the money. Why charge $23 for a 5 year old and a 6 year old when they cant even go on all the rides and a fourth of the atgractions are closed? Very disappointed.
Had a great time!
it was awesome you should all go there :)
My first waterslide experiance was so fun
Good with children
Fun place to be in Cavendish.
The staff is great the park is awesome the food absolutely sucks IIT was awful
Great place for the family.
A good place to go with your family and spend the day ❗
Expensive, but what isn't today. It's a great family park, tons of stuff to do. If you go for the day pack food because they really don't have many options in place for take away. Kids had a blast, we had a blast with our kids! Grwat memories!
The kids enjoyed it to a point. We got there as soon as soon as it opened so the waiting times weren't that long and you could actually swim in the pool. But once it got really crowded, wait times for the slides was a bit ridiculous, that even the kids gave up waiting. They still had a blast though!
Lots of fun for all ages
Outstanding! A ton of fun!
Lots to offer. Cool activities along the path to the next ride. Pretty expensive though.
It's a great place to go with your family and enjoy there especially with kids, there are many things to do there variety of water slides, pool, rollercoaster, maze, scary room , small kids show cinemas and so on. I'm pretty sure when you go there you and your kids will be happy. I recommend this place to go and spend all the over there because you won't be able to try all of them in few ours. The best plan is to rent a cottage there by the beach and stay for few days which gives you enough time try everything there and enjoy your vacation. Their price is kinda expensive but after 5 pm it will flat rate. All you need is to go there in a hot day, from the morning until 5 or 6 pm, which means at least 7 hours there in order to fully enjoy. There are fast-food restaurant there but if you bring your desired food with you would be better. Now you guys read all my feedback so please press thumb up (like) if you agree with me and see it's useful to you.
I took my 4-year-old this week and she had a blast (the adults did too!). It's not a major theme park by any stretch of the imagination, but for smaller kids it's a lot of fun. The staff are really nice and helpful, and the COVID-19 measures seem well thought out. Now is definitely the time to go too. I feel bad for the operators, but as a guest it's great; the restrictions on numbers means no waiting in lines.
Kids love this place. Bracelet gets you access to everything in the park for the entire day.
