In regards to the opt plus card service they offer ..Horrible and despicable... this institution will bounce back revenue Canada deposits every time there is no convienve in this service as well after checking there website I learned they do not have deposits insurance which is fishy by itself user beware of anyone who uses opt plus however cash money by itself is awesome

I would not recommend this credit union to anyone looking to deal with a professional advisor who knows what they are talking about. We had no choice but to use Meridian for a construction mortgage, and in the last year we have been passed around to three different advisors. It has been difficult to get answers, and most recently have been given false information with regards to our appraisal. I understand that these credit unions deal with large accounts, and sums of money all the time, but does that mean customer service on an individual level can be so poor? We were recently told by our latest advisor that it would cost us $33,000 to break our mortgage early. As that seems like an exuberant amount I requested a break down, or simply the equation on how she came up with that, and in response I was told that they could not break it down for us, and until another mortgage company requested it we would not know for sure how much exactly it would cost. Hence even though we are very unhappy with Meridian, we are stuck with them. Handcuffed, because of the enormous fee it would cost us to get out. This does not seem right. However we will continue to do our research and as soon as we are able to break away from Meridian we will.

I bank with credit union and went to withdraw money from the atm. I realized I needed a 20 dollar bill broken down so I went inside and ask. The lady at the counter said she doesn’t break down 20s. I had to go to TD down the street and they happily did it for me.

Avoid this branch for your small Business Banking needs!!!! So much incompetence from their small business advisor Amy. Called many times for a variety of issues to be resolved, things are never done right the first time around. Many times I have called in the past where i have left messages and call back numbers either on their Voicemail or with one of the clerks there, just to be ignored and dismissed. People running small businesses don't have time to waste with incompetence and this kind of negligence. I recommend going to other banks like RBC, BMO or TD for your business banking needs. Its an unfortunate thing since I have been with Meridian for over 12 years now.

We have mortgaged our homes with them, borrowed car loans from them, financed education finances for our children with them, and invested savings with them. I've been a (Niagara) Meridian CU member over 30 years. I've always had 5 star service at each branch. This has been my home branch for 8 years and most of the staff know me by first name when I walk in the door. That's exceptional considering that I do 95% of my financial online and only visit about once/mo.

I have been going to this bank location for a very long time but now iam not too happy being ripped off by a bank teller I had 130 on me I knew I needed 140 for a bill so I replaced the 10 with a 20 that would make it 140 then the bank teller dose not count it before putting it in the money counter then manger come said we did it 6 different ways to count the money well then if that the case how dose 20 go missing maybe should check your camera's which you do not do

Why do you even open on Saturdays? Last week it was closed at 12 due to construction but you didn't post it anywhere so people would know to make other arrangements & today your closed at 1:00. Why open for 4 hours? Welland is bigger then fonthill & their branch is open until 3:00

Best branch around hands down! Love Meridian and I'm from St. Catharines actually so when I came to the Falls couldn't find a good branch. This is the one! Their hidden gem in my opinion. The staff are super SUPER SUPER friendly, and they really take care of you. I operate a small dealership and each and every person really go above and beyond! I always get an amazing hello from Lisa, the sweetest, then Jess over at the bizz desk always goes above and beyond for me, taking care of things super quick and offering advice etc. Awesome. Now Christine really takes the cake! She goes above and beyond, and I mean really, she'll really put the elbow grease in to help you out and think creatively! She's super smart! (trust me it's not easy to impress me because I do my research!) I was on the verge of ending my relationship with Meridian before I met all the amazing staff at this branch and now, I'm a member for life! So if your in need of some awesome staff and a team that will really take care of you, check out this branch! ps there's so very many others I'm missing here from other teams members, managers etc so I apologize for not mentioning them but it's an amazing team here, very unique and hard to find in a branch!

This credit union lost $15k usd of mine and can't seem to find it for 6 weeks. It's not even the first significant wire transfer they got wrong (For anyone counting, it's the third). I was with them since 2003, and up until a year ago I would have recommended them in a heart beat. But the experience of late has completely ruined my satisfaction and good opinion of this institution. If I can't trust them with routine wire transfers, how can I trust them with anything else?

Just went to the branch to provide to inquire about my approval on the new credit card, the staff were completely ignorant and were not helpful regarding my situation, I have to leave the branch and call the call centre regarding my situation, and at this point the call centre personnel inform me to back in the branch while she stay on the phone, knowing that I’m on the phone with partner support team, they seem to help me right away at this point. At this point I asked to speak to the manager and staff member told she is on vacation. Would not recommend this branch, not professional and have any etiquette in terms of providing customer service, this is the first time I have visited this bank, a horrible first impression.

These folks provide the absolute best customer service that we have ever had at a financial institution. All of the tellers and the greeters are incredibly friendly and service oriented. Tommy and Gemma are the most recent people that have served my wife and I and they absolutely provide the best customer service and he sets the bar really high and the other folks meet that standard. Went to the ATM at the Lake St branch. ATM told me my bank request was declined. Went inside the bank and spoke to the teller who informed me it must have been the machine. I trusted her and tonight I went to the ATM and it was declined AGAIN. Waited 10 min for a contact person to tell me it was a faulty card. So frustrated!.

Watch out when you use the drive-thru ATM. When you withdrawl cash out, it is taken out twice from your account. This has happened to me twice in the last few months when I only go there maybe once a week. I was refunded the money both times, but it makes me wonder how many people don't notice this. I won't use the machine here ever again. The first time I took out $100, and 2 $100 transactions were on my statement. This time it was $20, and 2 transactions of $20 were on my statement. Not happy with this branch at all!!

Banked for many years, have numerous business accounts. When Peggy Foley was Manager, this institution was run top notch! Unfortunately, shes been away for a few years now and it is definitely not run the same. It was always very professionally run, excellent service and very responsive personal. It was a very personal service, Members were treated very good here and now its just like the rest of the banks. Everyone is too busy and full of excuses. Definitely I no longer will reccomend this Credit Union.

Got my first mortgage with Meridian, and specially this branch. On the day the deal was supposed to close, we had a major issue with the funding that wasn’t related with Meridian. We could have lost the house, or find ourselves in breach of contract. The bank manager, Shawn, went above and beyond what his responsibilities were to make sure we could close the deal. I knew nothing of these guys, and I personally stopped using a « brick and mortar » financial institution for years but they got themselves 2 new fans. Thanks guys, I’ll be spreading the word!
