The worst banking experience a person could possibly endure. 45 minutes to get a cheque certified. Poorly trained and unfriendly staff. Zero stars. Will NEVER return.
No issues. Recognized me as a Premier Customer and gave me a hand on a non standard transaction. Thanks to Barb
Terrible bank! I have been to every possible bank in GTA and I feel HSBC has been the worst experience. There are no friendly staff, we went in to get information for a travel credit card and there was only one person in the front and she had no clue about any special offers or details about the credit cards they have and they only have like 5 credit cards in total. Also, she said we would have to book an appointment to apply for the credit card and once we got the appointment Booked with an advisors, the advisor called us back and said sorry we will have to cancel the appointment because the person in the front didn’t know I am busy for rest of the day. Right after that mess we went to CIBC and received great customer service and finished my credit card applications in less than an hour. HSBC clearly has lots to learn.
Went to the bank to get some USD and GBP and check my accounts. The staff is very friendly. Will recommend this branch to my friends
Comparing to the HSBC branch in Crystal Mall, this branch has much less people as always, so the wait time is much shorter.
Got what I wanted, didn't run into much bumps. Staff members were friendly, helpful, and tried to make things happen for me. Line-ups could take times from time to time given COVID.
I use to be clients with a fiew different bank around the world and I actually can tell you that this one is the worse. Very poor customer service, one day we book an appointment and our banking consultant run half an hour late because she was on her lunch and didn’t even apologise. We never received our credit card even after ask them a million time, apparently they were lost but they charge use for rush. Was a bonus if you open a banking account and we actually never received it (what a surprise) Very unprofessional, but I’m sure that is not the reflect of the entire branch, just the one in 8ave .
Okay staff but a bit slow
something is wrong, this branch opens 9:00am
Hsbc Burlington branch is very good support to their client. The branch manager mr. Danny is very professional and do his best to support his client. Currently I am renewing my mortgage and he guide me in very professional way. So thanks lot to him and all his staff
Terrible service
Very detailed service! I had oversea account in Hong Kong and forgot the password, I ask if they could help me. HSBC on Kingsway was kind enough to call Hong Kong head office for me and authenticate and got my user ID and password for me. I didn't even have an account with them yet. That is outstanding service! I open an account with them afterward!
Wanted to charge for an account statement. Went to another HSBC branch, free.
My fiance and I tried to open a joint bank account to deposit a cheque of significant value at this HSBC location. The bank teller was speaking to us in a rude and condescending manner when explaining what identification was needed. We decided to take our business to RBC. We received much better service.

I don't usually post reviews, but this is the second time in the last year that I've been into this branch to ask for information that wasn't available online about international banking (I have an HSBC account in the UK), and received only extremely snippy responses. Very embarrassing. I am not a difficult person to deal with and I work in customer service myself, I understand sometimes you're just having an off day. But this was completely out of left field and has happened twice now.
I have mixed experience with HSBC and this branch specifically. Some of it is good, especially for simple things. Some of it is really painful. The reality is though that simple things these days are done over the Internet (which still has some to be desired in case of HSBC). More complicated things, in my experience, get entangled in additional unnecessary complexities, mistakes, frustration, and lack of knowledge or training.
Best dressed male tellers of downtown. Also decently fast wait times.
Wish service could be faster
My personal banking manager is based in this branch. I only deal with her and am very happy with the level of service I've received so far. No complaint.
HSBC BANK
Excellent premier service from Wale + Morris
I have lived in Germany, the USA, the UK, and Canada and have had accounts with multiple banks. Never have I had anywhere near as much frustration with a bank as with HSBC. They seem to be marginally better here in Canada than what I experienced in the UK, but the issue goes far deeper than just a branch here or there. I'm convinced that this whole company is rotten to the core. Run! Run far away!
It was my bad going there during holiday season with an urgent appointment, but I just didn’t want to miss the high sign up bonus. The guy was quite nice and friendly but I bet he forgot to order my cheques as promised since I haven’t received it after two months. And HSBC online System SUCKS! They don’t have online void cheques, so without either the digital or physical cheques, I was unable to fund the account or use it for payroll. When I realized that they would not mail me the cheques, there was no time left for me to meet the requirements for bonus.
Got an email confirmation for appt about mortgage with Carter Yu who didnt show up at all. Got a lady instead that did not seem to be competent. Any questions I asked she was EEEERRRRRAAARRR. I had to ask for a pen and write down numbers on my own.
They cancelled my appointment internally and didn't warn us. I am down my parking fee, time, and vacation I have to take off work. Leave Canada. You're no use to any Canadian around here.
4 juumon points ~ Didn’t have any problems and it isn’t too busy at this branch ????????????
All the staff are friendly and helpful!!
Since I don't like spending any more time with this horribly rude and condescending bank, I am copying and pasting an email sent to my Social Worker regarding my experience with this bank I had today at around 1015 Hrs on the 28th of March 2019. Hello (Don't want to use her name), Thank you for the reply. I hope the holidays was a welcome relief from the mundane and tedious nature of our society. Yes, I have had some difficulties this past month. And today I closed my bank account at HSBC, due to the rude staff I had to endure every time I went in. I had a bad experience on the 8th of March 2019 with one of the staff members. When I went in today, that prompted me to record(no video) the conversation with another teller. The manager didn't like that very much, most likely because she doesn't want incriminating evidence about their rude, condescending staff. People seem to behave themselves much better when they're aware they're being recorded. The majority of people don't seem to have any integrity unless they know they're being watched. She said she was going to report me to their Head Office, which makes no difference to me. That prompted me to close and terminate the account with HSBC, as I do not like being threatened by an institution whose very existence is based around the biggest evil in this world, MONEY. As I'm sure you're aware of, money is a weapon and tool used to control and oppress people. The less you have, the more difficult it becomes to navigate the world in it's current state. I digress. So, at the moment I don't have a Bank Account. I will hopefully be opening an account shortly, but I will have to make an appointment with another, perhaps less evil Banking Institution. If you like to know more about me, I implore you to Google: Luke Materi CTV or Luke Materi CBC. Thank you for the threat and lovely experience HSBC. ;)
Don't trust the bank anymore. I opened an advance checking account and deposited 10K for 4 months. Got nothing on welcome bonus. The branch never really tried to help you. my worst experience with banks.
Quiet location. Staff seems friendly.
Everything that people say about this branch is true: staff poorly trained and rude. Call center people can't reach them. Don't do business here and maybe not with HSBC
Leave my information and phone number since the morning. No one call me back and the whole day is gone.
Poorly trained and incompetent staff. Submitted everything online, wanting to transfer over my accounts. I was told to come in, made to wait for eternity and then signed "all" of the agreements. Moving into busy season I told them I cannot come in again for the next few weeks. Next day I get a call from HSBC saying that I need to come in again to sign agreements to verify my identity. Well what did I do the 1st time?
Opened a Premier Account recently and moved our RSP's to HSBC. We were in need of a bank with a Global presence. Laura has been extremely helpful and supportive as I maneuvered my way through moving arrangements and changing banks. I dropped the ball on something I needed to do and Laura jumped right in and made sure we were looked after, even tho it was my fault. The tellers were always polite and pleasant when making our deposits. We are very happy.
They have some weird policies that you will never see at any bank in world. Ended up switching to RBC much better service.
Spent over 25 minutes waiting on the line, only to get hung up on with no call back.
The customer service here is terrible! I have left 4 voice mail messages to staff over 4 days and no one calls me back. And I have an account there!!!
Good bank and great rates
The branch manager Danny Andic is so helpful! I would recommend 100% for getting a mortgage with HSBC.
Garbage tellers. Annoying manager.
Worst bank experience I do not know why a bank manage says that the people using ATM are not their customers after i got ticket, and when i want to open an account, he said why, and ask the reasons to stop me from doing that indirectly. when i wanna get a account, every other banks show their enthusiasm, HSBC real shows their special. will never have business with it, and will share the experience with my friends.
Staff here is helpful
Customer service is awful!!! I am on hold still trying to book an appointment with them because they can't do same day bookings on their website (lame!). I have been on hold for 2 hours 52 minutes and 3 seconds and counting. At this point, I feel like I can't hang up. Nothing like chasing losses with more losses!
The worst customer experience ever. No one ever answers the phone, does what they say. Even the people in their own contact centres can't reach anyone in this branch. They don't even deserve one star.
This Branch is the worst. They wont even answer the phone. Terrible Bank.
2 really horrible experiences in a row saved by one knowledgeable employee. From our experience it seemed like some staff members are untrained or just don't care about the clients. FIrst time we went in with a USD bank draft only to find out they made the deposit in CAD!!!!. After being told that our new card was ordered to deliver by mail. We went in to check a week later as to reason of delay, only to find out that staff never placed an order for the card to arrive.
Terrible hours closed on Saturday. Ridiculous
Absolutely no help. Trying to make an appointment. The staff is picking up the phone and throwing it down. Really frustrating
Terrible service. They make it extremely difficult to take your money out.
Not really a problem with this particular branch. But I was never able to reach the branch over the phone. Ended up talking to HSBC call centre. They said they were to forward message to the branch for appointment setup. Waited for a week and nobody called. Emailed my Relationship Manager and the email got bounced back. HSBC has some sort of stupid policy that blocks email from clients. The whole HSBC system is simply ridicules, making things very inconvenient for clients!!!
Went to bank open an chq account ..staff is not very friendly and rude ... seems branch manager is sleeping..
