Bad Customer Service! The coloured lady in short hair is so rude! She did not listen to my case. Her response was unappropriate with rude attitude and NOT friendly. After this “good service”, I and family decided to cancel with CIBC. We don’t need that kind of service anymore. Is that the way CIBC treats customer?

Worst branch I have ever visited so far. First of all, the guy dealing with me can't speak or understand English properly. Secondly, he came up with a rude reply when requested to waive off the fee of CAD7.5 for the bank draft of CAD5000, he said he is the incharge and he doesn't want any approval from anyone. I went to another CIBC branch which was about a km away and I was treated so nicely, the Spanish lady was so kind and respectful. CIBC need to do something with the staff of this branch as so many negative feedbacks can't be a lie.

The worst bank I have ever been to. Had a fraud problem the Branch manager did not take seriously or even return my calls. The police finally took care of it but no help from Branch manager. Plus does anyone else hate how when they go in no one seems happy to help you. Switching banks ASAP.

I was happy with CIBC Bank until I faced an issue with asking for a mask as I requested, but they refused to give me one. Anyway I had to get back to my car and grab the mask. When I came back to the bank, Neal Baldoz as the “Manager” showed up in front of me and aggressively insisting on talking to me, but as I had another bad experience with him, I just didn’t want to talk to him but he disrespectfully continued to argue with me. However I appreciate those employees who were so friendly and patient but they were not “Manager” I changed my bank because of this poor management.

I take Skytrain to go to this branch and wasted lots of time. And the worker inside even tell me it maybe happen in the future and hard to find accurate information too. Place is renovated lately and looks very nice. Just make sure when you ask something, you ask it accurately, otherwise your credit card might get stuck in the branch for 3 months and nobody bothers to inform you. Putting that aside customer service is satisfactory, could be way better though.

The lawyer also posted an example of what kind of service I wanted. The counter said that I did not have to pay for the order. I asked other advisors for help before I got it. The counter said no, no refund, saying that the money had been deducted and there was nothing to do. Because the bank was about to close, I was thinking about calling the customer service the next day and they said that they could refund as long as the money has not been deducted from the bank. The result of checking online banking showed that it was refunded the next morning, which means that when they went to the bank to cancel the order, they were not deducted by the bank at all. I believe that cibc did not check when the counter said it had been deducted. As a result, treat customers like this? ? When I asked, I didn’t even ask for a bank card number. I said that the money had been deducted. This is the time I was most disappointed with cibc. Cibc can’t recruit people, right? What's wrong with this group of irresponsible people as the counter? ? I'm so angry. I'm so angry after taking it. My experience with in-store service has been good to date. However, today I connected with staff via telephone banking across the country to resolve an issue and I was redirected to other staff after some time by conference call. The total call time was about 45 minutes, 30 minutes of which I was put on hold (and told it would be significantly less time) and then eventually they hung up without resolving my issue. Not very happy with that service. - loyal customer of 14 years

TL;DR: NOPE. Nope nope nope. Don't go here. If you need the ATM, fine. If you need financial advice, go post a question on reddit. If you need CIBC-related questions answered, wait on the CIBC phone lines but DON'T GO HERE and talk to people. We showed up 20 min early to our appointment, we just had questions about our mortgage. We were helped right away. The person who talked to us (I don't know if they're an advisor or something else) knew NOTHING. We had to awkwardly sit there while the financial person we were talking to waited for 30 minutes ON THE PHONE to a mortgage "specialty team" at a call centre. In the duration of those 30 min this person tried to sell us a more expensive chequing account, a credit card, as well as a $15,000 personal line of credit. WTF? We just had questions about paying off the principle quicker. We had to show this advisor the CIBC mortgage webpage on our phone so they can poorly relay our questions to the other person on the phone, and relay their answer back to us. When we specified we want to pay as little interest on our mortgage as possible, this person tried to convince us to LET THEM INVEST OUR MONEY OR HOLD ON TO IT FOR "LIQUID CASH FLOW" . That is horrible financial advice for our portfolio, and I would not hand this person the change I find on the street let alone let them invest our savings. Overall CIBC has decent rates and I like banking with them, but their constant upselling is really grating on my nerves.

Used the ATM but there must have been a skimmer on it because $400 was stolen on my card the next day and another $300 the week after. Not long after that another $500 was gone. At that point I contacted the bank and they were helpful in getting it all sorted out. They insist there was no skimmer but I'm not so sure.

Went in with rolled change for my grandmother that hasn’t been able to get out of her apartment due to covid-19, when i go up to the counter this one women teller is serving me, and she was just very unpleasant and rude. First, she asked me if I was lying to her about all the rolls being correct...I understand you need to clarify that they are correct, but to straight up ask a client if they are lying is super unprofessional. I got attitude and death glare from her the entire time. I felt like I was inconveniencing her, AT HER JOB, with things she is supposed to be doing. Customer service is definitely not the career for her, or it’s just time for her to retire.

Awful experience trying to pay my loan. I do banking with another bank but I'm grateful CIBC gave me a loan for my car. I had a cheque bounce and needed up come to the branch and pay in person. The teller clearly hates her job because she was so frustrated with me. I'm not a master at banking so I couldn't be very efficient for her. You'd think the person dealing with customers everyday would be nicer but I guess she was just having a bad day. I ended up clearing everything up I hope. It was a very simple procedure but she made it seem like it would be impossible. This is just my experience but I'll stay on top of my loan so I never have to come back here. Hope your day's better Marie but you definitely didn't make mine better.

Most of the ladies at the counter are lovely, personable and professional, however there is no business only line, so the lines are ridiculous sometimes, and management does not pay attention. These poor girls are run thin some days, while other staff who could help with non cash or business transactions, stand around chatting...currently in my 12th min in line, with 4 more people still ahead of me. I find this branch to always be busy with too few tellers. I have stopped going to the branch due to such long line ups and long wait times. I now have to drive 20 minutes to get to another CIBC. The major problem with the way the tellers are set up now are that they do EVERYTHING and that takes a long, long time for some customers. Tellers should be there for deposits and withdrawals not to negotiate new accounts or whatever they do that takes one customer 20-30 minutes with a teller. You should at least have one teller who just takes deposits!

They changed my account type without notifying me then proceeded to charge me $60 a month in service fees and when i booked an appointment to change my accounts the representative didnt even show up. I suffered the consequences of the workers at this branch, they did not take accountability and were arrogant about their mistake until it was shoved into their face. This branch has seriously gone downhill! Under the direction of Nelly Teofilo, Manager Financial Advice RRC, Karen Radyk and Titi Dexter took over 6 MONTHS to get me a SECURED line of credit!!!! I am a full-time Masters student, and organizing a black tie charity Gala in Ottawa where 100% of the proceeds will go to the Ottawa Food Bank. When I asked them if they would be willing to make it up to me in the form of sponsoring the event (even a sum of $500.00 would go a long way) they took OVER A MONTH to even give me a 'yes' or 'no' answer. I STILL have not received an answer!!! If you like WAITING and getting NOTHING done/ being LEFT IN THE DARK, this sure is the bak for you!

I went to this branch only twice and both the time my experience is worse. At first they messed up with appointment time. There reminder says its at 1:30 pm and the advisor called me at 1 pm that why I am not there. And finish the meeting in 30 minutes and during the meeting she is going here and there. All the 3 representatives I meet there are so arrogant and least to no helpful. Teller was good and helpful. The staff should learn some politeness.

July 10th, 2019 - I had my partner deposit a cheque for me as I'm no longer in the country. It was about 10-15 mins from close of business day, she was told an outright "no" from the teller and that I needed to deposit the cheque in person. I still have an active bank account as well as a credit card with CIBC. My partner goes back into the branch within 5 mins, goes to a different teller (next to the previous teller who refused to help) and gave them my account details. Deposit was done, but it was done so with complete attitude. My partner said the lady teller THREW the piece of paper the cheque came with at her. Wow. Absolutely disgusting. These "customer service" workers really need to get their act together!

In general, CIBC is a decent bank. This branch however is one of the worst CIBC branches I unfortunately need to frequent. The younger staff are courteous and respectful. The older staff shows distaste, disdain, and disinterest in dealing with students. The customer service with these older staff is so horrid you reminds you of cafeteria staff at first year dorms (Vanier, Totem). Their attitude is bad. I wouldn't be surprised if they rolled their eyes at customers. They don't respect you or your time if you're a student (ie. low net worth). The wait time is incredibly long. Avoid this branch if you can. Try TD for better and respectful customer service.

For the huge profits that CIBC makes I would expect a reasonable amount of customer service, but usually do not receive it. Have gone in during lunch hour and only one teller window available and the business banking window closed as well, so you wait in line. The plan is for you do do your banking via ATM unless you want to borrow money. I prefer to do banking with a person instead of with a machine. The huge profits are partly a result of hiring the minimal amount of staff.

I chose CIBC when I moved to Canada because it's what most of my friends had, but it been nothing but headaches. The staff was nice enough when I first opened my account, but CIBC has ridiculous policies about holding cheques for a week at a time, or not letting me have access to my own money when I've validated my identity multiple times. Staff are nice but the service is painfully slow. I've tried all different times of day to do my business banking and it doesn't make a difference. First thing in the morning there are fewer customers but there is still a line because only one teller is on. I was helped by an older women to certify a cheque. They made multiple mistakes throughout the process, and what should have been a quick 5-minute transaction, took multiple days and I ended up foregoing service at this branch. I am not a customer of CIBC, so I understand there are processes that go into certifying negotiables, but I have never been given this much trouble or turmoil when trying to execute such a simple request.

I was in the drive through ATM and the machine ate my card for no reason I tried to take money out and I didn’t give me money or my card back. I then had to park and go in with my two year old to ask For my card back. I simply ask the front desk for someone to get my card back but they said they couldn’t help me and it’s best to just go ahead and order a new one. I needed my card right away as I needed money to go grocery shopping to get food for my son. They told me to take a seat because they needed a manager to open the machine. The manager was to busy to help me and everyone I spoke to told me it’s just best to leave and order a new one and there wasn’t anything they can do for me because the manager was on the phone. I am 9 months pregnant with my two year old son in the bank. I told them over and over again I have no money and I needed my card back and I had no other way of getting food for my son or even myself to eat. They basically turned me away and the manager closed her door. I am disgusted that four people wouldn’t help me a single mother of a two year old and about to give birth during this difficult time. They have put a lot of stress on me and my baby. I wouldn’t never do that to someone who is so helpless. Disgusted that a manger would discuss a business deal then to take a minute to help Me as this was basically now a emergency to get food for my kids. I really hope they feel terrible what they have done.

Here it is the week of Christmas and they have 2 tellers working and this morning only 1. How is it every other bank on the strip have all their teller booths maned but CIBC cant? They have closed their Galt and Preston branches and never have more then two tellers working. All you get is excuses when you bring it up to management. The poor tellers who are working are doing a great job and its to bad they have to bare the brunt of complaints but come on CIBC stop with the lip service and get some more tellers. I suggest you visit some of your competitors and maybe you can figure out how to properly staff your branch

Disappointed on how they are dealing with the current situation. I was asked to step outside as there was only to be five in the building. This was fine but the gentleman behind did not hear or did not want to comply and stayed in line while I was waiting outside. Again, fare enough, I assume the gentleman did not hear. This bank will take your check and then not release money for EIGHT WEEKS! My son had to borrow money to get a cab to the airport to fly home for Christmas when they cashed my check and it cleared the bank months earlier. Now my son is missing out on a lot of activities, school books for class and food because they are once again holding money and not letting him spend it. They’ve had my money for weeks but won’t let him access it for another four to five weeks. Worse, uncaring bank ever. Avoid this branch! In the most recent interaction, I was given false banking information on transfer fees after they put me on hold for 10 minutes to find the information. The person sounded unsure on the phone so I called CIBC Customer Service to double check, and they were able to provide me with accurate information immediately. With all the past interactions, I was given sub par advice with poor customer service. There were two times where the tellers were running late (10 mins +) for a scheduled meeting. Punctuality is the bare minimum of business meetings.

I don't know why they mind having a branch here if they are going to refer you to the ATM anyways. Came here to deposit a check and wanted to do it on the counter so the funds can arrive quicker, but they insisted on depositing in the ATM and insisted it would take the same amount of time. Well they are wrong. Last time I deposited in on the counter it took a day for all the funds to be released, and now, it has been a week and the money is still on hold. I told them it was urgent but they were completely indifferent and did it for me on the ATM anyways although they had capacity and staff just standing there not doing anything at the counter. Went there to inquire how to close an account. The nice bank teller that assisted me told me she can find a person to help me with my request because she can't do that. She sent me to a room with a bank rep? then this guy asked for my bank card and my ID then while doing my request to his computer his making this audible sound while sucking on his candy (which is very annoying and very unprofessional). The guy told me he can't proceed with my request because he can't figure out the system because it's new and his scheduled client is already there, and told me to call their callcenter to continue with my request. I called the center and I told them what happen, the call center rep is well versed with their system and she told me someone will call me from the kingsway branch and help me with the process. The following day, someone from the kingsway bank called and did told me that for them to be able to assist me I should go there in the afternoon, told him i can't because im working, and he sugested another day , also working. I asked if i can just drop there when i have free time to do the transaction and he told me no, it's better to phone ahead to make sure that someone can assist me. Told him okay, ill check my schedule then ill call. To save time lining up there and be cut off and sent home. . .DONT GO THERE WITH NO APPOINTMENT. specially if you dont have large sum of money to transact with. Maybe if i have large chunk of money in my account there i'll be treated diffrently. I normally never write reviews, but I highly do not recommend this CIBC Branch. Their customer service is definitely a heavy weakness and is made worse with their long busy lines. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment because I do not like wasting people's time. I was asked to be seated since I was "too early," which is completely fine. When it was time for my appointment, I went up to inquire about it and waited in a line until to be asked to be seated again. It turns out when I went up to ask for my appointment again, my representative took in another client because they had the same first name as me. Thus, I had to wait another thirty minutes. It's honestly disrespectful to waste someone's time because that's life that they're never going to get back. I'm completely fine with waiting since I'm patient, but the problem is that they didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. I work in customer service too and honestly, their customer service is close to non-existent. CIBC has definitely lost a consumer to profit off their finances.

I wanted to speak to the branch manager, but he wasn't there at that time. I have decided to bank with some other bank which believe in good customer service. CIBC has lost my business!!!

We have been dealing with CIBC for over 50 years. Today was the worst experience I have ever had with this bank. As per usual there was a line up. A bank employee was managing it. No problem with this until I heard a disturbance outside. A customer was yelling at the bank employee. Her response was to have someone else handle the line while she OPENED UP A NEW TILL, WALKED THE CUSTOMER TO THIS NEW TILL PAST EVERYONE WHO HAD QUIETLY WAITED PATIENTLY IN LINE AND SERVED HER BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE. when I asked my teller about it she suggested that maybe the customer was a senior citizen. Only one ATM, not enough parking, on a very busy street...The service is good once you get to the counter and the product is as expected...Clearly, the tendency to encourage users to go online is greatly encouraged. Being the only branch left around Three-Rivers, this is concerning.

Been with company for 5 years. It has gotten bad. My fees are so high to use my card in any form. I get my account held depositing any amount of money. The customer service is great. The bank needs to be run more efficiently. Only ever one teller ever who is horribly over worked. At least I got use to the hour long waits

The bank employees have no experience. I visited them to convert from Canadian dollars to US dollars. They gave me a very low rate and unfair rate, at least to be the same as the market rate or exchange companies, also I spoke with the main bank office and they told me to go to your branch and discuss with them to get a good rate, but no one knows, not even a manager. Unfortunately

I had a meeting over the phone with an agent from this branch. He was supposed to change my status to student and also apply to raise my credit card limit. I was told I would hear from him the next day. After a week of no contact I left a message at the branch and never received a call back. My credit card limit did not change. And today I learned that I wasn't actually switched to a student account.

This is not a branch issue but I feel all customers of CIBC should object to the fact it costs over $63 for a new order of 100 cheques or 60 cents for a 6 inch x 2 inch piece of paper. The cost of producing these is probably a tenth of this price and takes fee for service to an absurd level!

No envelope deposits is literally the worst possible system in banking. It constantly doesn't recognize cash and cheques. Get a better system CIBC........ round 2! This system is still a steaming pile. Doing business deposits is so frustrating. It won’t recognize perfectly fine bills, then it messes up and says deposit not available! Why can’t I leave 0 stars? Round 3! Unrecognized item. Wonder what it could be? It surely can’t be these 2 absoletely flawless crisp 50$ bills I put in. It must be some old napkins I’m trying to deposit. Ooo, nope, it’s the 50s. Round 4. Should be easy enough to deposit cash right? Stack of crisp 20s here for this devilish no envelop atm. Whats that? Unrecognized item? Dam napkins again I bet. Noooppeee a fresh 20$. Ok calm your nerves, it’ll spit it out. And it did....directly out of the machine, and into the snow covered slush parking lot, blowing across the asphalt As I chase it though the lot. So CIBC if your wondering why the inside of your machine is covered in salt and snow, it’s your own fault. Round 5. Time to deposit about 6 cheques and some cash. Hopefully the ATM is friendly today. No envelope needed, and you don't even have to enter the amount you deposit....well isn't that convenient! Machine sucks in my 6 cheques and money, 1 minute later...ERROR. Machine doesn't know how much I deposited, and wont give it back. I have to manually enter in the amount I deposited. Welllll I don't know exactly what it was CAUSE IT DOESN'T LET YOU ENTER THE AMOUNT IN THE MACHINE. Sooo enter and random number and hope that someone from CIBC contacts me to settle the deposit amount. I feel like I'm on an episodes of Punk'd every time I go to CIBC. But Dax sheppard isn't jumping out infront of me with his piece out, so it must be real life. CIBC either fix these atm's for your clients, or get Aston Kutcher down here.

The Branch at Aspen Landing entered the bank draft details incorrect. Money was lost and now No one seems to be able to rectify the situation. Use Western Union to transfer money internationally. The money gets to your destination reliably and fast without any hassle. With CIBC, the process was lengthy with no promises on when the money would arrive. In my case, the money got lost in transit and it remains somewhere in cyberspace. CIBC claims that once it leaves their bank, its out of their hands.

Terrible first impression of cibc personel. The receptionist there pushed the handicapped door openning button with her FOOT. She could have used her elbow if she was so afraid of germs. Now an elderly or handicapped person will use their hands on the same dirty button.

Experienced fraud with my account and went into the branch to sort it out. I dealt with Sue and Zishan who were amazingly helpful, friendly and patient. Zishan went above and beyond to make sure everything was getting sorted out.

Service was very bad ! Hired new teller without training to service customers, just process basic bill payment can make unsuccessful and called me three days later left message to me and ask me to go back bank to process again! Without apologizing for her mistake, and message not left her call back extension and I had spend an hour to their branch to staff and manager, still no one can help or solve with me!!! Why we paid high service fee for these unhelpful employees!!!!

As a CIBC customer for over 25 years, this has to be the worst CIBC branch! First, they hand out "fake" money, not once, not twice, but three times already. I would ask for change for my parking and I would get coins from outside of North America, especially Indian rupees! When I say I want to take out cash for parking, it's obvious that I shouldn't have to worry that money isn't Canadian, but at this location, you have to worry! Out of 30 quarters, you might get 1 foreign currency and I'm not talking about American coins! Absolutely unacceptable, it's getting to be so bad that I would avoid going to this location for change, period! Second, the bank tellers act like they hate their jobs. They're rarely cheerful, don't smile, and don't say thank you... have a nice day, etc. I usually like to go to a teller to have my statement updated, and they're like you can do it with the machine yourself in a rude voice. Now, that doesn't happen to other CIBC branches, but just this branch! It seems like most of the staff at this location care about making money more than anything else, and it's not customers first, but last. What a shame!

Today may 29,2019 around 3:45 pm went inside CI BC bank to take 60 dollars from my cost capital savings account , I need go pee I asked worker where is the washroom she said no washroom to customers!!! My questions are to all who come little store has to have washroom for customers but no any bank has no washroom for customers why? This big financial institution earns thousands dollars a day but not providing washroom for people bring there money to them I cannot understand that!!! after 36 years i have decided to terminate my relationship with CIBC. They decided they wanted to hold all my deposits and freeze my bank balances and after my request to elevate my concern to a supervisor, they still refused. I have 50,000 in unused credit card limits and that still didnt seem to alter their decision to not allow me access to 100.00 of my 7500 deposit I made. ( One which was a lawyers trust account for 1000) . The billion dollar profit they just announced is too great to put up with such a small client like me. Koodos to the teller that closed all my accounts ( bailey) who was very kind and disappointed that i wasnt treated well

If I could give this branch a negative 5 stars I would. I was waiting in line to see a teller. As a person with a disability i needed to sit down and after a few minutes i came to the next available teller Shivali. She told me she could not answer my question about replacing a debit card demanding I see another teller. I asked if I could see a manager or a supervisor and she said "no". She then told me to go to the other teller and wait for her. I told her I can't because of lack of social distancing. I told her I have a disability and today it's very painful if she could get someone. Again she said no and continued doing her paperwork. At this point I contacted the branch and unfortunately only got a voicemail where I left my message. I then proceeded to call the main head office at which time she was saying to me but I was unable to hear due to recorded message and plexiglass. After leaving a call back number I asked what she was saying at which time she said my card cannot be replaced. What kind of customer service is this? When I asked her she had the audacity to lie to my face saying she was looking for the information. I told her, what kind of customer service is this, lying to the customer when it is clear she ordered me to wait for another teller and was doing her paperwork. I did not even mention her eyeing and smiling to a male customer. He was next in line and the question is, is that why she was so dismissive? Female customers are also important - dating is not the object of her job.

They are simply incompetent! I went in to open an account and first, they opened the WRONG account and when I told them it was wrong they insisted that they heard me say otherwise... That itself took an hour or so, they had to reschedule me to come back ANOTHER day to sign the forms and then this time they said the only way to move funds into the account is to EMPTY my other account from another institution which is just plain ridiculous. I ENDED UP JUST DOING THEIR WORK FOR THEM by looking up the proper form to fill out on the CIBC website and told them the exact form number to pull up and fill out! Their only saving grace they have is that at least their attitude is decent.

This is complain about MJ Jin at CIBC metrotown Vancouver .I was some questions about bank account service.we meet on Dec 3/2020.MJ Jin was very rude .she didn't care about customer service.I think she didn't like and serious her job.before I was happy with CIBC.but now I should think about choose another bank .also I said she didn't care.she didn't care customer.anyway this is very bad experience .

My Dad and I had the WORST experience ever in a bank. We waited over 1 hour to get some money out. We went in shortly after 1 pm and had to wait to get into the bank, into the line up for the teller and then to get cash. Friday afternoon and the bank had 1 teller on. (the other was out for lunch) When the second teller finally came back (40 min. later) the other teller left. There was never more than 1 teller dispensing cash. We needed more than what the teller was allowed to give out, so then she wanted us to wait again in the line up, to use the ATM machine. WHY would you only have 1 teller on? Why would you not have coverage for lunches? WHY on a Friday afternoon, would you not prepare for a few more people? Every Friday is busy ... no matter what! So frustrated and upset about the whole banking experience.
