Thiefs, hands down the worst service I've ever had. It's no longer the HSBC it's the CCPB. They are souless beings. Horrible.
I just paid $25 to have a cheque certified and then they wouldn't give my bank a clearance until the following day and so it was held anyway, so why did I pay to certify the cheque?

Very bad experience, I have applied for mortgage and I got call saying this is the amount I am qualified for, I started looking for house around that time and later I got another call and he decreased $75000, I was so shocked, I told him to close my application right away, never dealing with this bank again ever !!!

There is absolutely no customer service in this branch if your are not their BIG premier customer, try out their online-banking or telephone banking, they are more helpful and efficient than this branch !
Oh dear... where do I even begin? We visited this branch to speak to a "mortgage adviser" that we had made an appointment with a few days prior. To start, the person was 10 minutes late. The next hour and half was truly one of the most excruciating and painful displays of incompetence that I have ever witnessed in the customer service world. This person was unable to answer even the most basic questions about mortgages, could not perform simple calculations and was clueless on regulations, rates and a great many other topics. One one occasion, we asked for some details on a bridging loan. Clearly unable to answer, he left the room, literally left us waiting for 20 minutes while he went to speak to a more knowledgeable colleague about the topic. On another occasion, we asked him to calculate a simple blended rate mortgage. He stepped out of the office again to "find a calculator". Again, we sat there waiting for 10 minutes while he searched for his calculator. It turns out he wasn't able to do the calculation, couldn't figure out how to use his Excel spreadsheet and didn't end up providing us with an answer. Lastly, he promised that once we left, he would look into our questions and get back to us in "10 minutes" along with sending us an e-mail with the documentation that we needed to provide him to begin the pre-approval process. One day later, no phone call and no e-mail, despite two voice-mails left on his direct line. This would have been comical had it not supposed to have been an important conversation for us. This branch is a farce. I fully intended to go back later this week to provide my feedback in person about this absolutely ridiculous experience. Don't waste your time here. We have an appointment at the Windermere branch tomorrow in the hopes that they might be a bit more competent.
No follow-up at all with a member of the branch since Jan. 4, 2022 (over two weeks). Phonelines don't let you speak to anyone either, even after waiting for an hour on hold.
Today I went again as I had an issue with the security device that I never got. I went to premiere service and met "Wissam" who really helped me and solved my problem in no time. Even though I was not his client, but he took the extra step to help me. Regardless of the fact that the phone banking is not efficient and they never solve your problem. But at the branch, Wissam was more than efficient and really solved my issue in no time.

Did you know HsBc is the only major bank that doesnt allow you to download your year’s credit card transactions in Excel? Yep, they want you to spend money blindly than to analyze your spending habits. HSBC - a bank that does not have your back.
The bank is NOT closed. I almost didnt try because of a old comment/photo here. (I think the lady went to the wrong place) The people there was friendly and help me with my problem.
My wife and I had an appointment on a Saturday afternoon. We went in and were received by the staff. We were there for roughly about an hour to open our checking and savings CAD, USD accounts. They were very helpful to provide all the details and within 10 days we were able to open an account in France online. Very good staff with a lot of vital information.

Best experience with this branch staff Ms Nina Chen. She spent a long time in helping me to deal with my HSBC UK account transaction, as I was told, by the HSBC bank in UK that I need to go into one of the branch in Canada to identify myself in person. Even though the branch in UK rejected to proceed with my request initially, she continued to help me to resolve the situation and got my transaction completed. Great thanks to Ms Nina Chen, she is an invaluable asset to HSBC.
spoke to one of the customer representative in Barrie Branch, she was extremely rude and when i told her that I could barely here you she gave me rude answer and hangup on me.
I asked to talk to a person in business services. A guy came to me talked to me standing up. Did not offer to go to his office and talk into details. Did not understand what I am asking for and then went to his premier manager to ask him about it. Then he gives me answer while I am standing outside the premier manager office. I ask to see the manager and he says the manager is busy while there was absolutely nobody at the whole branch. They did not want to serve at all. They just wanted to get rid of me. Very bad service. The worst service I've ever experienced in a bank in my entire life.

The worst HSBC branch and bank I've ever seen around the world. The call centres are managed by people who don't listen to your concerns. Staff inside the branch sent me an "official" email, full of spelling mistakes to present to a credit card company, the staff were unhelpful and have no idea how to conduct a 21st century banking. I've opened this branch as a newcomer, but ended up closing the account because I got fed up with the group of jokers running this so called bank!! Avoid at all costs!!

I had great service here when I needed them to verify some transactions, I went to the branch for three different inquiries on three different occasions and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They even let me know about free parking in the building. Then on another occasion offered to call me when they finished processing the information they needed so I wouldn't have to wait around, I left thinking it would take over an hour, they managed to get everything done and call me back within 10 minutes. Best service attitude of any bank I've dealt with in Montreal.

Worst customer service business in Canada
This bank is useless. ATM down town closed because of violence. Put a card lock on it; keep out the problem makers. No lock, all out instead unless bank is open. The branches have no phone numbers its all 1800 to a time wasting loop. Called yesterday to talk to someone waited 30 minutes and he could not get my CC onto the system so I could make a payment. Had to phone Scociabank to find out how to put my card on HSBCs system. If you have any choice in the matter at all stay away from this place. Some staff are simply nice ppl. But they work for a backwards hardass organization.
The cashiers at this bank are sooo rude. They get up set with you any time they have to do something other then sit at there desk.
I received excellent customer service from Josh Miller at this branch opening an account in Canada and simultaneously in France. It's very helpful to have a human face on a rather complicated transaction.
They have own me money since I closed my account 4 years ago.... they have not give me back money. The kept telling me we will send you the cheque.. I have called and even went to HSBC branch... They even hang up the phone some one called Jen on master card. Amanda tole me she sent me cheque and she lied too... If there is negative stars, I would really like to give them negative 5 starts.

I CAN NOT stress this enough: do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE bank with HSBC. I applied for a mortgage almost a year ago because they were offering the lowest rate on the market at the time. So I jumped through ALL of their hoops, filled out mounds of paperwork and was denied (I'll get to that). I was told during the application process that in order to apply for the mortgage that I would have to open a bank account with HSBC as a prerequisite. So the woman that I was dealing with opened a chequings account in my name and told me that I never had to actually use it or put money in it, and that there was no fee. So, after being denied the mortgage I assumed that the account would be closed as well. Well that didnt happen. I've gotten 4 phone calls today from collections demanding that I pay the outstanding balance for the account which was $25 a month, for the last 11 months, and then overdraft on top of that as there were no payments made. So after being on the cellphone for 2+ hours, they were gracious enough to offer to knock that balance down by half. How kind. I dont think so. How can I be charged for an account that has never seen a penny of my money? And when applying for the mortgage, I applied for a 275k loan (I make 6 figures and have minimal debt, small student loan, a car and a cellphone) and excellent credit. Well I somehow got denied without them even running my credit, so I'm not sure how that works?
We have been very impressed with excellent professional service provided by Premium Banker Joanna Chen to us on our visit at HSBC Bank Canada. She gave us the best customer service, was very friendly and very knowledgeable of her work. We truly appreciate and thanks a lot!

Poor client service. Agents are not proactive. I had an appointment and was there 20 mins before. I went to the counter agent and ask for the person who I had an appointment with. She got my info and ask me to wait. So, I wait again then finally a guy approach me and ask who am I waiting for. I told him who and he told me that the person called off for the day because he was sick. I would really appreciate it, if they told me ahead of time that he wasn't there...they could have called me on the phone to cancel so I wouldn't have wasted my time to go there for nothing.

No customer service at all. Dropped in 10 minutes before closure for some enquiries. All of the three staffs were so eager to get off and showed unwillingness to serve you verbally and physically. It seems that they were entitled for 10 minutes paid vacation as a benefit from HSBC even though the bank was still officially open. Cannot believe all of the three staffs flew out of the branch right at closure time. Hope next time when I was put on hold for "one minute" is really one minute.

Been waiting for a follow up from Navdeep Walia for 2 years now. Never heard anything back even after multiple calls to his direct line. Called the branch to try and voice my concerns, always fell on deaf ears. Do yourself a favor and bank anywhere else. Unless your depositing millions of dollars or plan on investing a small fortune with these people don't expect to being taken seriously or even have your calls returned.

Walked in to this branch as its open Sat since I work long hours during the week. I asked teller about opening an account as I wanted to take advantage of a savings account interest special. I was told I would have to open an account on line first, and than have an appointment to see someone. I said fine. I asked about an appointment Monday for which I was told oh no it's about 3 weeks to get an appointment. When I protested, as the special ends Dec 16 the teller asked what amount I wanted to deposit. When I replied , I was told just a min. He came back and said my colleague is with a client can you wait ? No problem I said . 10 min later a guy walks to the teller , teller comes back and tells me he has another appointment in 10 min. I got upset and and told him why than did you make me wait ? I would like to go in. It should not take more than 15 min to open an account. He than told me to open an account takes a minimum of 1 hour . At that point I had enough and told him ,since I walked in you made every effort to make sure that I don't become a client here. His efforts I must say were successful. If HSBC is the last bank I will keep my money under my mattress.
Worst HSBC I have ever been in the world. Worst bank... I came there a few years ago to close a savings account, the lady there refused. It was kind of outrageous, I went to the central bank to close it. Today, I had to go again... Special Canadian Customer service. There was 7 employees (2 security), 3 bank tellers, 2 bank advisors. I came there the first time, we were 3 customers (including myself), and there was a line up, only 2 bank tellers were working, the rest was procrastinating on their phone openly. I came back after 15 minutes, there were 3 customers, same amount of employees. I waited, until it was my turn, when my turn came, that 1 customer that was having issues attracted the whole bank attention. There were 2 banktellers at 1 computer and the manager. Followed there an epic 20 minutes of wait. I waited until the bank closed, and waited more. 3 bank staff on 1 computer solving 1 customer issue, 3 bank staff watching videos on their phones, 1 security guard doing the same at the entrance. I started playing a 3 minute tetris game on my phone, after 1 minute into the game, one of the girl at last, told me to come over, I told her to wait 2 minutes as there was 2 minutes left into my game. And tetris is for me, kind of sacred. They also looked for it, so I guessed they could wait 2 minutes after making me wait 20 minutes... They were getting impatient, I finished my game calmly and explained her life. You know, all the employees on their phone while I am waiting 20 minutes...To what started a small argument on how you know, a security guard has his job. Well, the other 3 bank tellers, 1 manager and 2 fianncial advisors cannot just help a customer to deposit a few bank notes ? The other customer told me to shut up coz he had some hard time to understand what the banktellers had to tell him, to which I replied calmly that he had the whole bank for himself. Maybe I should have asked him if he wanted a foot massage. Anyway, I won't go there anymore, will definitely file a complaint to the main office, and wait for this location to close down. Bank teller is anyway, a job that will soon disappear. HSBC is already closing all its locations in most European countries. They completely lost what made them one of the top tier bank (ie --> their staff quality).
Banking with HSBC is somewhat complicated: their app is old, ebanking freezes randomly. At least their good credit cards and sign up bonuses compensate for that. At this branch the managers are responsive but other staff are slow and inactive (thankfully the subordinates go on holidays which helped me get things done with their manager).
Shameful institution closing my account because they found it suspicious that I used my card to pay for goods that I purchased at the duty free store. The closing of the account and withdrawal of my funds took excessively long. Had an impression that they are actually trying to scramble all the money they had at the branch to pay me off the 3k I had in my bank account. After finally paying it to me, the system could not finalize it! Anything simply not to pay you. Moral of the story, don't open an bank account at banks with funny names and no retail presence.
