REVIEWS OF Doce Minho Pastry And Bakery IN York

Mimi W

Nice neighbourhood bakery with Portuguese classics and large selection of cake slices, though I think more attention should be taken so that the custard pastries don't come out black on top underneath all that shredded coconut. :/ -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

Ernest Lee

Great bakery with delicious sweets, great lunches, and homey atmosphere. Highly recommend any thing you see in there!

daniel lewis

Baked anything this place kills it I live 2 mins away and go often great coffee shop vibe. ????

Dave Brito

If you want a typical Portuguese bakery experience that doesn't sacrifice freshness and quality, you need to come here. Whether it's breakfast or dessert and coffee, this spot nails it. Food, service and ambience.. great across the board

Shō Ya Voorthuyzen

I regularly go for meia de leite and natas (pastel de nata), and it always perks up my mornings :)

Sérgio Munhoz

Great service and good Portuguese food. We visited the bakery in the evening, and we recommend this place.

Caroline Becker

Fresh bread and pastries! How can you go wrong ♥️

Giam Singh

One of the best bakeries around, special mention to the Portuguese custard tarts.

I found this place accidentally but I believe fate brought me here. The cakes and pastries we're so fresh and the staff we're so nice and kind. I'm going to be a regular at this place. So happy I found this little gem. Thank you so much. My gf loved her bday cake.

finspe

The baked goods are heavenly and if you haven’t tried the Custard Tart yet you are missing out!

Anthony Marino

Awesome tarts, especially the Nutella ones! The croissants Cappuccino milk is over frothed and a bit burnt. Overall I'd recommend this place

Dill Abdalla

Great place to stop by if you want some tasty baked goods, cheese and deli store!

K W

A nice bakery with a variety of Portuguese strike bread, cakes and pastries. Priced very well. This place isn't that big, but is a decent size for a couple of tables both in and out. Or if you want, take out and head over to the park across the street. Foods are not to sweet which is nice. Perfect to pair with coffee. Custard tarts are creamy and flaky. The pastry cake (no label/ tag) which has a custard inside was also very good. Definitely recommend trying this place out.

Lyly P

My mom likes their apple strudel type pastries and they are my go to for Portuguese custard tarts.

Gian Paolo Michelini

Best bread in Toronto, hands down.

40Roller

The Good: Food is very good, tasty, deserves praise... The Bad: Service is so-so. The young kid that took my order was okay but the old lady processing the payment needs to learn the value to good customer service skills. Fail -1... Overall, good but needs work to bring score up...

Vicky Moreira

I really liked the bread. Of all the baking companies I've ever had the chance to taste bread, this is the only one that has found truly Portuguese bread with the fresh, lofty Portuguese flavor. Good work!

I always get very good stuff there yummy ????

Nisprih Mohan-Ram

A welcomed treat for someone looking for authentic pastries! Not only were the Portugese tarts (pastel de nata) delicious and the best that some of my friends ever had, the rest of their pastries looked just as good. It was impossible to leave with just one item. But that wasn't a problem at all because it was so inexpensive! Definitely will be returning to try more.

Maria Pereira

This bakery has the best Portuguese custards, "natas" in the city.

Petre Ene

Very good quality product for a good price. You can go for bread or to have a nice meal inside. They have a good selection of pastry and breads but also other products. I pass by each time I go though that part of town

Alejandra Rodríguez

Their bread and pastries are incredible and the prices are great. The only problem is that nobody is wearing their masks and clearly when you go and buy stuff is impossible to keep 2 metres of distance. So please start wearing your masks, is not that hard....

Ileana Villanueva

There was some parchment paper mixed into the whipped topping and resulted in someone choking. Very unpleasant

Steve Nunez

This is the local bakery we always go to get fresh bread, thank you!

Parental Guidance

One of my favourite bakeries in the city. The tarts are insanely good here. My dad said he liked them better here than when he was in Portugal. Hands down the best I've ever had. Moving to this area was one of the best decisions I've made simply because of this shop!!!

Dana Blackburn

Well, its in a very cute location and the style of the café is very 'italian-esque' and cozy :) I mean if it weren't covid, it would be lovely place to chill. The espresso is delicious and the staff is very friendly. However, the dessert and bakery left something to be desired - tasted stale, cheap and 'box cake -ish" ....so wasn't a fan at all. Hit up "Mabel's' on Dundas west instead - wayyy better with finer quality and care ;)

NK A

Excellent service, good coffee and suberb Patisserie. The variety of deserts massive and delicious.Strongly recommended..

Jano Ebora

Good lord, those custard tarts are so good. Filling is on point, and that flaky/crispy outside is perfect. Service is also great.

Candice Redmon

I am giving 2 stars not because of the baked goods. They are 5 star worthy. The 3 stars is because of the service. Went in today at 12.55 pm and two girls were behind the counter. They were not helping anyone and I received no greetings on entering. I stood in front of the pastries and had to ask someone to help me. The girl took my pastries order and stood beck behind the cash register, when I had moved on to the Cold cuts to make another selection. I had to ask for help again from the cold cuts. I was there with my brother and we are both black in skin color. She took my order for the cold cuts and went back to the register. I was going to order bread but decided not to. She rang up my bill and I paid the $40. She then put the receipt down on the counter. No THANK YOU, NO Nothing, however she left quickly to go help the WHITE Portuguese man who stood in front of the same counter that I had stood in front of and I had to make eye contact to get help but He was helped right away. This is very racist in my opinion. I will post this review to my food blog and it's 5000 plus readers

Jane Banh

Fantastic Portuguese egg tart, not overly sweet and crispy layered base!

René Z.D.

Love it. Great Portuguese bread, must try.

shemar mitchell

Gone here to hang out and eat for about 10 years (since I was 10) and the food, pastries and service has always been exceptional. The ma and pas style with good customer service makes for a great experience. You don't get the side eye from …

muhamet nenada

This place is friendly and family oriented. Food and pastry are delicious. Espresso is fantastic.

Joao Ramalho

For a long time i wanted to go in this place but it's the first and the last time i'm going. The service was bad, always pushing me and my wife when we were trying to make our order, so they could serve the "habitué" costumers. If someone ask me about this place i will not recommend it!

Steven Carvalho

called the Bakery???? a person that worked there or whoever it was was so rude on the phone unhelpful definitely did not know how to talk to a customer

Vivien Del Mundo

Nice little Portuguese bakery with very friendly staff...great pasteis de camarro and bacalhau too

HonestTruth Reviews

Great Cafe, with some amazing coffee. they have a wide variety of pastries and dessert. the Portuguese custard tarts are very very good. everything is reasonably priced and they are so friendly. highly recommend this place!

Kharlo Nacional

Great pastries! Amazing bread!

D C

Doce Minho is one of the best if not the best Portuguese Bakery in the city. Their "broa" is definitely the most authentic Portuguese cornbread in the city. The service couldn't be any better, the espresso is good, and the ambiance is pleasant. Doce Minho's owners are very philanthropic people who generously support various organizations throughout the city, including the First Portuguese community centre.

Maria Luiza “Iza” Campos

Divine queijadinhas e fresh crispy bread selection. Personal and caring for the customers kind of service.

Shay Arsh

Lovely Portuguese bakery. Amazing pastries and tarts. The cheese is to die for.

Ashwin Arun

Good breads. Always ask for the fresh daily baked ones. Totally avoid the muffins, tarts, pastry cakes etc. it’s too dry ????

Carlos Barbosa

Good service. Good food. Fresh pastry treats and coffee. Try the soup just like mama made or the beef sandwich. You will enjoy.

Emanuel S.

Great place! Amazing food!

Adam M

Decent selection of Portuguese sweets and a big seating area. Very reasonably price.

MRS , T. ALLADIN

Just like every Portuguese business they only seem to see there own kind . This place not so bad to sit and have a coffee however just like my friends we would be waiting in line all they see and speak to is there kind they will even ignore you and serve there own kind and speak so loudly and push thru you to get served. Its not the way to do business people all race all customers keep your business open and should be treated the same this goes for all Portuguese business butcher shops coffee shops etc.

Roman Empire

Very good on small bakery such as sweets and the rest, a bit expensive. The reason why I rate 2 stars is for their highly overpriced small cheesecake, more than $45 for a miserable cake, and the taste is good, just good and not out of this world, for a price like that I would've expected to be blown away. Highly recommended for small errands but strongly discourage everyone from buying any sort of cake from here, unless if course you have money to throw away...

Arthur Rocha

The coffee was great, the pasteis de natas were great, and the price was even better. We walked off with everything in this photo for $25 tip included. Great spot for a coffee and a pastry.

Srishti Bhardwaj

Loved the almond cake.

Luis Freitas

Good portuguese bakery, slightly different from the other ones in Toronto.

Brian

Great bakery. Love coming here and getting all the different tarts

João Firmino

Very good, sweet tasty baking and great people.

Lilia Mass

Always a great option is you are looking for coffee time, pastry are delicious, I recommend try a "mexicano", and a latte. But, also you can find some Latin soda, and another products. And the girls are ready for you to order all the time.

Tony Espinola

I've been coming to this bakery for years and it never disappoints. Excellent place for coffee and desserts. Try the cream of heaven.

RICO

Really nice and cozy place, friendly staff and very polite. Cakes and pastries are delicious and their cold cuts are also good and their coffee great. Prices are very fair.

Dean Powers

Was my favorite Portuguese Bakery! Till I showed up during the pandemic, wanted use the washroom before my espresso. She lied to me! saying ,she lost the key. Most of the ladies are very nice, but the owner not so much.

Ana Magalhaes

Best pasteis de nata in the city, hands down. They aren't exactly like the ones in Belem (Belem, Portugal where they originated) but they are darn close and the best I've found in Toronto. Staff are really nice and friendly too (big big plus in my books).

Belas Aesthetics

The best bakery in Toronto always fresh great customer service free parking beautiful cakes

Bobby Bath

Nice quiet bakery, great food and very homely feeling. Must visit, to die for custard tarts, cakes and pastries, great deli sandwiches.

José Dores

Great corn bread - mix wheat/corn, super rissois de camarao / shrimp, superb pasteis de bacalhau. I go there for the food that they sell

Ayesha Adamjee

The best Portugese bakery in the city, if not the world. Couldn't even find natas this good in Portugal. Fresh bread every day for unbeatable prices and coffee to die for!

Piero Ponzo

Great little bakery, with one of the best natas (Portuguese custard tarts) in the city

Karena Mills

We went today for the first time. Great atmosphere, lovely food!

Carlos Barrientos

Fresh bread and tasty pastries!

Priscilla Rosa Paz

I bought a cake to celebrate my husband's birthday and I was completely disappointed when I served my guests. The cake looked like it was old, totally dry horrible. Could have bought a cheaper cake in supermarket and would be much nicer... I do not recommend this place !!

Christian Menkens

Amazing selection of sweats, bread and coffee. Definitely on world class Central European quality that I am used to from Germany and Italy. Great prices. We had Coffee, Tiramisu, Croissant, regular Rolls and a loaf of bread.

Esmay Morgan

Best fresh baked breads. Super well priced. Nice homey atmosphere.

Ramon Angelino

The best of the best, is very delicious every pastry.

B Espina

We came here because we really missed the pastel de nata we had when we were in Portugal. Although it's not exactly the same as the ones I've eaten in Portugal, it's very close. The atmosphere of the place is very Portuguese. You get the quintessential tiled artwork and the openness of the space. The lady at the cash register is very friendly. If I lived nearer, I can definitely see myself coming here every day just for an espresso and a pastel. On display are different types of pastries. Don't be afraid to try all of them. The worst and best thing that can happen is you end up liking them. This is one of those places that make you thankful that you live in Toronto because you can dine around the world in just one city.

Gabi

Best Portuguese custard tarts (pasteis de nata) in Toronto!

Audrey Santos

Authentic Portuguese desserts and bread! The Best of Toronto! P.s. custard tarts natas!

brad oulton

Reminded me of my trip to Lisboa last year mmmmm love Portugal

Luke Moynihan

Want a coffee to go? Sorry but that will be a huge problem. Terrible service to be expected here where everything is a hassle for the staff. Want to pay upfront? No can do, go sit and line up again to pay. Wont come back again.

Róbert Nagy

Good pastries but get real, even a 50cent transaction is one, you can now use debit for everywhere else but here.

Ricardo Sabino

After trying many different places this place probably has the best pasteis de nata in the city. Pastries are tasty in general. Birthday cakes are also tasty with nice designs but for elaborate designs I'd probably look somewhere else. Lines can be long during the holidays.

Iman Annab

Epic Pasteis de Nata (Custard tarts)! Best in the city. We always end up eating half in car before we even get home!

Jonathan L. (rtjaylinh)

One of the best spots for classic Portuguese Pastries in Toronto. A Must visit.

Marsbar Does stuff

Best bakery and pastries in town! 5 stars treatment. Loved the place!

Trucho125

I always feel like if your not portuguese they won't help you. They take long to help unless you start speaking in portuguese.

Mike Chan

Doce Minho is a Fairbank institution. They have been around for ages, and people from all over the city travel here for their baked goods.

Dr Vishesh Girdhar

The best Portuguese bakery you can get in town. The most amazing bakery stuff with polite staff. What else can you ask for? ????

Daniel Fernandez

Solid spot for fresh Portugese baked goods and bread. Cleaner, friendlier staff, and better goods than most other portugese bakeries I’ve been to.

Douglas Lee

Solid Natas...though most of ours were a bit burnt on the bottom. (I mean I still ate 3 of them in 2 days) ???? Also, great prices. Not quite as chewy as the ones I've had from Nova.

PP in Canada

I want some Portuguese egg tarts so I find this bakery on google. Fresh pastries and friendly people!

Ghaith aldebeyat

Amazing food and prices

Gabriel Brodsky-Weiszmann

Their selection of cakes and bread is impressive and delicious. Very friendly service too. Definitely recommend checking these guys out

Romar Rey Gacutan

This pastry shop is one of the must try spots here in the gta, they offer various array of pastries but their egg tart is definitely the best one that i would recommend! So if you are around the area and looking for a sweet sensation, stop by and be satisfied!

Ben Nazarro

Amazing pastries and an even better atmosphere. Definitely stop by.

N Z

This is truely a gem, highly suggest the egg tarts and fresh bread

John Rego

Awesome pastries great food ( sandwiches) and best expresso in town????

Maxim Ben-Yakov

Pastries are all wonderful and delish. Coffee leaves more to be desired.... Guess the old baker momma's aren't as good at cappuccino's

Nancy Macedo

Always great! Love the fresh breads and pastries. Coffee is excellent. Table service is always fast and delightful. I always get my cakes for special parties here. We will always return.

Roxanne Correia

Typical Portuguese bakery with delicious pastries and a nice seating areas. Very friendly service :)

Leo

Let down again by authentic Portuguese dessert. The tart is ok at best (not the stupid sweet type so it is ok) but other options are simply disgusting. If this is the best you've had, seriously go to Markham, Scarborough or Mississauga for some actual good stuff.

Nancy Araujo

Absolutely amazing. Fresh Pastries, amazing bread and excellent customer service. It's like coming home to family.

PAUL P

Excellent bakery...wonderful, bread, pastries. The only negative about this place is the distance one has to drive to enjoy their goods.

Jamie Furtado

The food and the service is great. However, they don't enforce mask wearing in the bakery. Generally I don't care, but today I was buying some bread and meats, and a man with no mask was standing over my uncovered bread and food, and he was drinking and talking to the employee that was bagging my things. I understand some people don't take the pandemic seriously, and that's fine. But I would appreciate not having a random stranger breathing and talking over my uncovered food, while not wearing a mask. I don't think that's an unreasonable request. Most people wouldn't want a stranger breathing on their food in general, and definitely not during a pandemic. It's a shame because I really like this bakery, but I probably won't be going back here until after the pandemic is over. Let me stress though, the ladies working there are great, and the food is fantastic.I have lung disease which puts me at higher risk of covid, so its just not worth the risk to me.

Leonardo Lourenço

I’m here every since day service is great and funny and mostly everything is nice and fresh.

Francisco Jacinta

Don't accept Credit only Cash. If you pay with credit they charge you $0.45 transaction fee and don't tell you about it.

Ryan Casselman

Stopped in for a sandwich and some treats. Everything tastes fresh and delicious, and even though it was VERY busy (looked like people were picking up desserts for Christmas dinner), the line was moving along and the counter staff were great.

Ruben L

Authentic Portuguese bakery, fresh bread, a wide variety of pastries, staff is friendly and hospitable.

Anthony Ramirez

I love this bakery, it is a bit weird that they don't open on Mondays but in general ITV's really really good

David DaRocha

Okay, I've been to quite a few Portuguese bakeries in the GTA. Without a doubt, I'm absolutely, positively certain that Doce Minho has the best tasting custard tarts (pastéis de nata) in the GTHA. They are consistently fresh and baked to perfection. The dough crispy and chewy in the right spots. The ratio to custard is also proper. Highly recommended. They know what they do well, and this places deserves its success!

David (David Soto)

Old school Portuguese bakery serving up classic parties and daily baked fresh bread. I went there to get a cake for my sons birthday. I haven’t been able to see him because his mom has tried to hide him from me. They had the cake ready in minutes with his name on it and I decided to stay for a yummy custard donut and a cappuccino. They also have a full service deli and sell hard to find Portuguese groceries. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Will be back for next years Birthday. Happy Birthday Luke!

Vik Panjwani

One of the best little cafés in the area. Pastries and sandwiches are always fresh and delicious. Light on the pocket too.

Michael Hale

No vegan options. Old fashioned bakery and nothing cool about this place either.

sam cohen

Great place for coffee Breads and pastry. The staff is friendly and cheerful.

CalxC

My partner and I were wanting some Natas and googled what was around and this place was the first thing that popped up, based on the reviews and pictures we decided to check it out. The place reminds me of some coffee shops in Portugal so that was nostalgic. It has seating and the baked goods looked delicious. We were greeted but we were looking for a menu and couldn't find one, we asked if they had one and they said no. We weren't sure what we could get. We asked what they had and I suppose if you're a local and have been going there for a while you can walk in and just order but for people that don't go often or haven't been before, I think is silly not to have a menu or something showing what you can order. Aside from not having a menu, there is no pricing available. Since when do you go to a place and just pay whatever because that's what it is? We ordered two sandwiches, two Natas and a eclair and it came to $18.30. I paid with a $20 and didn't get a dollar back. The food was Ok. We wouldn't return or recommend it.

Peter Martins

Best buns in the city! Esspresso is decent to! Highly recomend this place for a sit down coffe and some pastries......thats if u r not on a diet, then stay away.this place smells that good in side and everything just tastes awsome!

Taste and price are great. Service is horrible.

Ali Al-Sheikh

- A great go to bakery for coffee, great Portuguese egg tarts and ham sandwiches. - Love their breads! They've got a good variety delicious pastry. Not for the lactose intolerant/allergic though. - Very decent pricing! - Two nice indoor seating options.

Epic_gamer

Wow , happened to be in the neighbourhood when my kid wanted a Custard tart , must be the owner , I agree , no customer service , good thing I'm closer to other wonderful bakeries ,

Lauren MacCallum

The coffee and tarts are soooo good and surprisingly cheap!! Some of the pastries tasted like they may have been from the day before, but eaten with the coffee it was still delicious. Huge selection and lovely patio area.

Andrei

The owners of this place should seriously reconsider using cheap ingredients in pastries and cakes. It's quite apparent with a naked eye, let alone after you try the pastries that the quality is low. I don't know why the owners decided to use low-quality ingredients. Perhaps, it's to save on input costs, but I was so disappointed that I'm not coming back to Doce Minho ever again, even though the staff there were super nice and friendly. Low quality kills customer loyalty in the long run, so even though it's a profitable strategy in the short term, it's a losing strategy in the long run.

Dimitri J

Casual place to grab a coffee, watch a sports game, and even buy bread on your way out, would recommend.

Tania R

Great portuguese bakery with artisian bread! Staff are friendly and quick. It also has a nice indoor space to sit and drink your coffee and eat your delicious pastry.

Jacobo Moreno

Awesome quality at unbeatable prices. Highly recommended. Best of Portuguese pastries.

Jarrett Bobbett

Great sandwich my lunch was super tasty.

David Garland

Delicious treats and excellent Covid protocols make shopping here a definite pleasure.

Delbar Irani

I was looking for good Portuguese tarts and came across Doce Minho (with great reviews) on Google. I took a 35 minute drive to the bakery and wasn't disappointed at all. The tarts were exactly how i wanted them - the flaky, crispy crust was absolutely right and encased the very delicious custard. If you are looking for yummy Portuguese tarts then this is the place to go too. Great service and lots of parking in the lot beside the bakery.

Simone McIntosh

Guys, guys, guys. You have to go here. They have the best tiramisu ever in a chocolate bowl. Their bread is fantastic, and great staff. What's not to love?

Holy mother of pastry... you have to try this place! The custard tarts are divine, Make sure you buy at least a dozen when you go. They get eaten faster than you think!

Troy DeSouza

I have scoured Toronto‘s Portuguese custard tart scene and found the one. This is the way.

Matin Moghaddam

Pastries are sublime. Favourites are delícias, pastéis de nata, and palmiers recheados. Hands down one of the best places in the city for Portuguese pastries!!

Great great great Portuguese pastries ... And also some rare-to-find Brazilian/Portuguese delicious savory snacks are available, like 'risole', 'coxinha de galinha' e 'bolinho de bacalhau'.

Shalaleh Tarbiat

A very friendly Portogese bakery. Reasonable prices and very fresh. I visit this place almost every Sunday and enjoy their hot latte and codfishcake. Also their custard tarts are amazing.

Julia Striker

The only complaint I have is the long lineups. But I guess that means this place is that good.

Burak Ulu

Nothing is fresh here!

Andrew N

Great spot to have a coffee and a dessert or a sandwich. Awesome fresh bread (daily), especially if you like cornbread. The service can be a bit slow, so if you're in a rush or anxious... you might spazz out, but wait a minute or three and enjoy the delicious baked good while forgetting instantly that you waited.

Sam Cohen

This is almost an authentic Portuguese coffee Bakery and Deli shop. Always a great service with a smile.

Philip Dantas

Great place to stop for a coffee, pastry or just a sandwich. Friendly people and great food on the way to Yorkadale or just going North on Dufferin St before Eglinton Ave.

Mr.Anderson

Really good egg tart and coffee

Frank Agostino

Wonderful Bakery Making both Italian and Portuguese Breads and Pastries . Also sells some Frozen Fish , Cold Cuts and a few Staples like Milk .

AJ C

The worst customer service in the city, there are plenty of other bakeries in the area who have a similar product and have respect for their customers.

Jigger Pine

Yellow cornbread here is about as close as you can get to real Portuguese corn bread. Portuguese tarts are top notch too. But if you want the real thing you'll need to visit Portugal. Somehow the food in Europe just tastes better.

Just left this place and the service was unbelievably!!! I was in line with my 8 month pregnant partner to place an order and the person at the counter skip over us and started to take orders from a bunch of construction men. When we ask to have our order to be taken they ask some one else's to take the order we were told we should not be making any noise about it. Well this will be the last time we'll be going there. We decided to make are own bread. To bad the food was good there.

I really recommend this place if you can't afford to take a ticket to go to lisboa and have the same high quality of foos6

Love the egg tarts but not so much on staff's customer service(not welcoming and no smile) also I had to call the staff to get attention and charging extra on debit transaction.

They have good desserts and hot drinks. Their glasses however look dirty. I like the patio.
