Great pastry and consistent freshness every time. All-time favourite custard tarts are super fresh and delicious. Recently I also tried their canolis - they were surprisingly good as well! It's not easy to find a good canoli in the city. A lot of the time they look good on display, but do not live up to taste as good. Here it was not the case at all! Sometimes you have to be prepared to spend extra 5 -10 mins in line.

I ordered chicken Sandwich and was told to wait until the sandwich was ready, which is fine. The thing that was awful was that the lady who was preparing the sandwich was talking adjusting her mask NON STOP to the next customer (who ordered also chicken sandwich). It was not hygienic and she not focusing on her job. After what looked like an eternity wait( because she couldn't stop talking with the next customer), I asked if the sandwich was ready. She gave the finished sandwich FIRST to the next customer who ordered after me...which was shocking. I told the lady I came first and should have been served first. The lady was dismissive and didn't say anything to explain herself. I was upset by the overall experience. I am not coming back to this place again. Hope they learn to treat their customers better.

This establishment did not provide me with a positive experience. It was my first visit, and I was fascinated with the pastries. I took my time looking at them since I wanted to be sure I knew what I wanted before going to the cashier to place my order. No one approached me or inquired if I needed anything. When I determined what I wanted, a queue formed in front of me, with two people in front and behind me. The cashier then proceeds to service the two people in front of me. When it was time for me to place my order, she turned her focus to the people in the rear of the room near the pastry display. And retrieved their pastry order before me and cashed them out. I opted to leave without ordering anything. I figured it was because of my race. Not a pleasant experience; the cafe appeared to be a nice quaint shop, but I would rather spend my money somewhere with better service. 01/01/22

Great place to have breakfast or lunch any day of the week. The service is awesome and the food is great. The only downside I can point out is the place is so popular it can often be full to capacity making you change your plans from dining in to taking out but if you're not in a hurry this place is definitely worth the wait. Their steak & cheese melt is to die for!

Not today.. I asked for a medium coffee, and was charged for a large. Unfortunately I only had $1.95 and asked about the price hoping she would ring it in again... she said its 2 bucks... as I am embarrassed at this point and ask her if she can charge me $1.95 instead... she said it's already rung through and I left with no coffee... ive been going there almost everyday but it only takes 1 employee to make a place non existent...

Very disappointed as a regular customer. Order Pasteis de Nata was not expecting to get the most unpleasant Natas I've ever seen not only did they not look like Natas but they were the driest things ever you could tell they were not fresh at all. I will certainly think twice before going g there again. Had to give it one star otherwise I would not be able to post this but it actually deserves ZERO

Wonderful place. Right opposite my office so it's very convenient and yummy. The pastries especially Portuguese custard pie is something else, as for the food and coffee this is probably the only place in the area that I would keep coming back everyday to eat at. Sadly enough I didn't take photos but I'll make sure I post some from tomorrow's lunch!

Horrible costumer service. We waited for ten minutes to be served even tho we only had three costumers in front of us. The girls kept trying to look busy but seemed to just be walking in and out of the kitchen carrying nothing. Afterwards, one came to us and began to speak Portuguese. When I told her I didn't speak Portuguese she turned around and walked away. I was left speechless. We ended up walking out since after this, no other girl could take our order apparently. How a business with these work policies and employees managed to stay afloat is beyond me. Also, if you don't enjoy speaking English, perhaps you should stay in your country.

I have received the worst and rudest customer service here this morning. I walked in and asked two questions about their bread(which they had a very small selection of even at 7am). I then settled for some buns and I asked for a little bit of cheese. At this point the woman behind the counter let out the biggest, loudest sigh and (literally) threw the cheese into the cutting machine. The whole time she made sure to make it very obvious how much of an inconvenience it was for her to do her job. She also only used one glove to handle the cheese and was touching it with the other hand which she used for handling cash and register ( not very good health practice especially during a pendemic) There is never any place for rude service or unsanitary practices but it is even more puzzling when it takes place at times when so many businesses are going under and people are losing their jobs. The bread here can be good and coffee is great but for reasons mentioned above I do not recommend this place.

The food & pastries they sell are good. The staff is hit and miss at their locations. Some are rude. Some serve you and make you feel welcome and greet you. Others look down at some customers and treat them horribly. The management should pay attention as to how their staff treat customers. There are some locations I will not return to and there are other locations I will only go to when I only have to pick up some treats for Seniors as they can't go there themselves.

Great Portuguese pastries and food in GTA as far as being like back home. Service of staff leaves much to be desired (they are attitudie except for a select few). I believe actually most Caldense bakerys need a much needed face lift they look worn out and tired and dirty (you can see the dust). Like an all white space with there signature punch blue, yellow and orange colour would be more contemporary inviting and new to customers. This location did limited and low budget repairs, but it looks worse as an entire space. I still go for the food and personal family time with my family.

Dont know why there are whiners leaving poor reviews here... the girls behind the counter are amazing and they always do their best, instead of sitting and waiting for service (unless you're elderly) get up and go to the front and order... its a busy place, do your part!!! Steak and egg with lett, tom cheese and hot peppers... try it, it's mint!!

This is the worst bakery I've been to. The girls walk away in the middle of your orders, they have no manners, don't know how to greet u when you approach the counter, just horrible costumer service. The majority of their customers are Portuguese and the men are always cussing while parents try to eat with their kids and it seems to be ok with the waitresses. It's just not a good environment to have breakfast or snack with your kids. Never again.

Lazy service. Ordered to be finished by 5:30 pm to be sure that they would be done by 6 PM. Over the phone, we were assured that it would be done on time. When we arrived, they were not in the fryer or even preparing them. It was finished almost an hour and a half late

THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! I went to get a cake, and the girl standing behind the register says to me "I'm busy" No "hello" or "one moment please" just "I'm busy". Also, went there when I was 8 months pregnant and was treated the same. Poor customer service, but great food. The staff attitudes make you not want to stay, especially wait to be served. Disappointing. Go somewhere else.

Went to this bakery today to have something for lunch and sat outside where I have been served before in the patio area. Been here for over 20 mins now just to see how long it would take for someone to come out and serve us. Sitting right near the back window the whole cash register can see us and there are 6 people working. Absolutely ridiculous. Also their tosta mista is very small for the price

Every time I come here I feel invisible. I come every time I get my tires changed at the Canadian Tire nearby to grab a latte. But always I'm routinely ignored by the counter staff as they attend to other customers who have arrived after me until finally I speak up. When I finally get their attention they act annoyed and surprised. Quality of food is only reason I come back.

Really good food, I have tried the omelets, sandwiches, custard tarts. I have not been disappointed yet! Be prepared to wait (prices make up for it) approx 20$ for two people to have a breakfast with coffee.

I was hired by one of the managers at Weston and 401 and told to get trained at the location on Eglinton and the first thing I was asked was do I speak fluent Portuguese which I do but I'm not full Portuguese. Besides the point the next question I got asked was What is my background ? Why would that matter if I speak Portuguese. I answered really uncomfortably and said no I am also half Spanish and the manager said she could tell which is great I think everyone can. Because I have strong features. Then I got asked my age which started to feel really weird but I just thought okay maybe they just want to get to know me so I continued with my day and started learning all the pastries and buttons on the till. As someone working on their first day your not going to know it all let's just be realistic. So my manager told me to start asking questions if I wasn't sure of something which I did and everytime I did she would say things like " I already explained it once why don't you get it still." Mind you I'm not uneducated either. I've graduated college with an ECE diploma and worked in a hospital. So I allowed her to talk to me that day because it was my first day and I was trying to make good impressions and use the skills that I have in the best of my ability for the first day. I was told I was going to work 8am to 2pm and she told me to go home at 12pm . She told me that I wasn't understanding and she didn't have the time to teach me so the job wasn't for me and to go home. I gave her my hat and apron and left. I had left a pearl bracelet in one of the pockets that also went missing . I had tried to reach out to another manager at Symington location to see if maybe I could do my training elsewhere and that manager told me she was going to get back to me and never did. I had called back several times to try to figure out what I was going to do in terms of payment and employment and I never got a call and then after so long I got a hold of someone who told me to go in to pick up my cheque for the Eglinton location. So I did today roughly around 230pm this afternoon and I wanted to speak with the original manager and she ran out the store and told me to speak with another manager which was probably the afternoon one and she gave me the cheque and I got $22.00 for the 8am to 12pm shift I had done. I called to confirm with another manager and she told me she has no time to talk about it and she has too many things to do and Hung up on me

Worst customer service and laziest early morning staff. Expect to wait if you don't speak the same language. My pastry was tossed at me by a rude short young girl who got caught goofing off. Then found out it tasted of garlic. Been there a few times when I worked in the area. I'm not going back.

New Cook Today who needs training. I ordered eggs over medium bacon well done with buttered toast. I should of taken a pic of what I got. I got Eggs over Hard and Slightly Burnt Bacon and Toast were burnt and barely buttered. Lots of new staff not sure why!!

Slow service! Offering a variety of traditional Portuguese baked goods to eat in or take away. Breads are fresh and tasty. Cafe style seated service is available but you will need to join the lineup of people buying pastries and bread in order to pay your bill before you leave.

They have huge cockroaches there. Me and my brothers ordered sandwich meat and cheese, and while she was slicing them for us, we seen the cockroach run over the bread and up and down the glass screen of where they keep the meet and cheese. I will never eat there again. So disappointed.

This place has one thing going for it, the appealing display of delectable sweets. Its major downfall is how the staff always look so bitter. I've walked into this place almost 6 times looking for something to satiate my sweet tooth, only to leave empty handed and unfulfilled. You walk in and the staff barely acknowledge you. I walked in today, made eye contact with one of the employees, and she barely made an effort to smile. I stood looking at the displays window for a good 10 minutes without anyone inquiring as to what it is that I may I interested in. I took a gander for a sandwich menu to see what choices they had, with no avail. I left without a single interaction between myself and a staff member. Couldn't even rate the food at this point, but service is far below par.

I actually go to this bakery often. We love the Pados and Papo Secos. They also have a great Steak Melt and cheesecake; mmmm. The service can vary from pleasant and friendly to annoyed and disinterested; which is a shame because other locations that I have been to aren’t like that. If you want great freshly baked goods, from breads to cakes, I would give it a try.

Place is empty so finding a seat should not be a problem and good thing too because you'll be sitting in it for a while. Service is slow, food is good, but this place is really understaffed and for an empty place should not be taking this long. Personally don't think it' worth the wait. Also, you WILL get the bill BEFORE getting your food.

This is where I would come for all my pregnancy cravings! I was here at least 2x a week, it's hit or miss at this Caldense. You either have amazing service or horrible service. The staff in general are kind, but some days they are bombarded or just not at their best. Their pão de chouriço is amazing and their coffees as well. I recommend asking when the sweets were made before purchasing, or eating. I've purchased their cheesecake a couple times to only find it sour or be very hard.
