REVIEWS OF York Factory National Historic Site IN York Factory

George Berlin

This was an amazing visit. I was aware of the history of the Hudson Bay company in the US but did not realize the extension north to Canada. This is so well preserved. You get a sense of the remoteness and the bravery or the necessity of bravery of our earliest settlers.

(Translated) Not far from York Factory, hard to locate on Maps, at Keewatin, 66.976635, -88.228876, very old impact crater extremely possible. So much history here! Guides running the site know their stuff, and are very friendly. It can be a bit challenging to get here, but I booked with Clint at Nelson River Adventures. Safe speedy travel there and back and lunch too. This place is slowly slipping into the Hayes River and may not be around forever. How great to see the coast, and travel out into the bay. Very neat place, hope I can go back someday.
