Wonderful Hungarian Goulash soup. Fantastic bread; and the best biscottis I have ever tasted. The service is always friendly. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Go for lunch, coffee, snack, whatever and buy some bread while you're there. You will be hooked.

This is an old school kinda place with soup, salad and cookies. I like the cookies and soup and sandwich combo meal. Quantity is good but a bit expensive in my opinion if I consider the ambiance. Taste wise good and I will recommend this to everyone.

Very friendly staff who seemed knowledgeable and kind, especially during the pandemic. Well equipped for a "flow" of people to attempt to keep people social distancing. The bread was very good, and the croissant rolls were divine! Such good lamination in the croissants. The cookies and lemon square were slightly disappointing, not as sweet as I would have liked, but I am a sugar addict!

We moved here in Sept /16 and finally today stopped into this bakery ... the counter service was like a stone cold robot and the pastries were horrible , I bought a Copenhagen and a chocolate chip cookie , I had to throw the Copenhagen in the garbage and the cookie was just ok . We had a sausage roll which was also just ok . I will continue to go to Feildstone Bakery in Crescent Beach where the service is a 10 and the pastries and sausage rolls are a 20 out of 10 .

Went in looking for an ice latte on a hot day but they don’t have ice so thought I’d grab some goodies while I was there. Got a pain-au-chocolate and a double chocolate cookie. The PaC was a non-starter, dry bread with some chocolate chunks. The cookie was more like a thin dry cake than a cookie. Maybe they can take a trip to France and learn how to make croissant pastry.

I got a 1/2 turkey and cheese sandwich with a salad. The 1/2 sandwich was a great size and very delicious. The bread is fantastic. The place is very quiet and the staff friendly. Only 4 stars because there was no public restroom, wifi or outlets to charge a phone.

I've been buying bread products and eating lunch at Michael's for about 4 years. The bread products are all outstanding. I've never been disappointed. And just this week I tried the GF bread, and it's also amazing. The soups and sandwiches are great and good value. Once while standing in line I said to my husband, "I wish they had fried egg sandwiches on the menu". The owner heard me and made me a custom sandwich and visited our table part way through lunch to ask if I liked it!! Very considerate. Everyone who works here is friendly, it's clean, bright, and best of all - delicious!!!

Michael's has been at this location just across the bridge from the busy Grandview Corners shopping district and it's franchise eateries. This mom n pop operation turns out the most delicious homemade hot lunches, sandwiches and the tastiest of soups. Try their go to goulash. And of course don't forget to take home some cookies or a loaf of one of the many types of fresh baked bread!! A gem of an establishment!!

Put in a pre-order for some baked goods and a sour dough bread for Christmas eve. When we arrived to pick up our order they informed us that they had sold our sourdough to someone else by mistake. So we had to get a different bread, then she acted like she was doing us a favor by not charging us the extra 50 cents that was the difference between two breads.. poor customer service after they were the ones that made the mistake..baked goods are not bad, not great but not bad. If you read my reviews you will see that I dont go around giving bad reviews unless I really feel it is deserved

I went to this bakery to get their famous BLT on bacon sour bread, extra large chocolate chip cookie and I wanted to try the pumpkin seeds and mango bread. I had only a $20 bill with me and I was 40 cents short. The kind lady at the counter said that's ok and took 40 cents from their tip box and settled the balance of my bill. What a great service! ????

Bread is worth 5 stars...anything except the bread isn't worth it though... coffee isn't good, pastry just ok, muffins are horrible--when you buy a "blueberry muffin" and it's dry and tasteless batter with a few berries plopped on top. I could make better in my sleep! Staff ok but not friendly...really doesn't make you want to return... Go to Fieldstone bakery (on way to Crescent beach). Best bread + pastry in whole town. And coffee shop right next to them.

Extremely disappointed by customer service. I was at the bakery to order a cake for my mom's birthday but due to some reason I cancelled the order approx half-an-hour later. I was told to come by anytime for the reimbursement of the money. So, when I went the next day, the middle-aged lady who is to give back the money says I should have not paid for the cake if I was going to cancel the order. I had paid for the cake using my credit card but she returned the money in cash. All through the process she was rude and pushy. The cookies that I later ended up buying were delicious, however, I don't think I will return to this place again just because I was not dealt properly.

Serious European style breads using ingredients and techniques almost unseen and forgotten - they keep it simple - their ryes and sourdoughs cannot be beaten - and their lunches and sweets the perfect compliments... Regretfully due to baggage check-in fees when flying, I'm limited to returning home with only a few loaves ( yup, flying with bread in the baggage its that good) much to my regret.

I agree with Tabitha, their food is alright but the server didn't say a word to us and made us really uncomfortable. I almost felt like I was talking to a robot because he had no facial expression. Cafe decoration isn't that great either, I'd say Laura's coffee corner is a better option if you are in this area.

I was told this was a great place for lunch but nobody ever said it's also a fantastic bakery! I didn't see it on the menu so I asked if they could make me a clubhouse sandwich. Yes they can and along with it I had some baby size shortbread cookies and a cup of fresh full body coffee ☕️! As I went to pay I noticed allot more baked goods than I first noticed so I took home a mincemeat tart and a peanut butter cookie , to my delight they both brought me a sweetness and joy moment. Micheal's is now my newest go to lunch place and the bakery will also stay in my destination for goodies.

The server did not say a single word to me, and I felt like I was an inconvenience for him. It was a very uncomfortable experience...will be trying out a different bakery next time.

The customer service was awful here. I would save my time and not bother going here. Selection was mediocre, the items they did have was not labeled. The entitled blonde man behind the counter should probably be kept away from customers. He was rude, not attentive, he barely wanted to take our order or even listen to us. We left and went to the next bakery maybe 5 minutes down the road fieldstone bakery, where 3 of us bought our weekly bread aswell as bakery treats. Since michaels artisan bakery acted like they didn't want our money, they did not get it.

Unbelievable... literally Chander makes the best BLT sandwiches I have ever had. I can no longer make my own or buy other BLTs, they don’t compare. A dozen cookies and a loaf of bread came to 19.95. The guy told me that the bread was made the day before. Ya is was very dry and started to turn the next day. I'm pretty sure that is was more than a day old when I bought it. The cookies were all hard. I was hoping this bakery was going to be good, and when it cost me an arm and a leg for so little I didn't expect to be so disappointed. I will not be back and I suggest you save your money and find a different bakery.

A not-so-well kept secret in South Surrey. A tasty collection of artisan breads and desserts baked on premises by a dedicated friendly staff. However, whenever I am in South Surrey I stop by and pick up a made from scratch sandwich carefully prepared by the man himself. I choose the veggie sandwich which is rich in all things good but tastes absolutely delicious. A treat with a wellness twist. I occasionally get bread, usually sourdough, YUM! Pretzels are an impulse item which when seen I devour. All in all a genuine experience in an operating bakery environment.

We have come here many times over the years. Great bread with lots of variety. Many other baked items from cookies to cakes. They have a small lunch counter for soup and sandwiches. Their Hungarian Goulash is fabulous. I had their chicken vegetable soup. While the broth was good it had no chicken and barely any vegetables. A had a very few celery onions and even smaller amount of carrots. The vegetable sandwich was very good.

No longer a hidden gem, Michael's offers a limited but varied enough menu of soup and sandwiches for lunch. The bakery offers a number of treats to enjoy with coffee or herbal tea and there is a good choice of cold drinks as well to provide afternoon refreshment. Bakery items can be boxed up for home, of course, and the bread selection is unique in South Surrey. Many specialty breads are offered; gluten free, yeast free, ancient grains to name a few. Parking is limited, best accessed off 24th Ave.

Great food (the bread was great) but bad customer service experience. I came in and was not greeted by the blonde young guy at the counter. There was no other customers in the bakery as sometimes busyness can get to all of us. He looked at me like I was bothering him. I asked him for some bread and he continued cleaning the bread shelves for about 20 seconds. He didn’t drop what he was doing to assist me is the point. He then got my order, processed it, and if it wasn’t for me thanking him to try and initiate a pleasant conversation, I doubt any words would have been spoken. Strange and doesn’t seem like it’s a regular thing based on prior reviews but that was my first experience there. A thorough brush up on customer service for that young lad would be suggested as no doubt 100’s of people will now see my mixed review here. Thank you.
