Golestan bakery is the best in town . we ordered a cake for our wedding anniversary Mr.Jalal gave us very good recommendation on how to serve the cake and i can say that for their quality , their price is really really good

We paid almost $1000 for our wedding cake, and we came here because of a referral however it was the worst decision of our wedding. He promised us that it would be "an amazing cake" and that it would be at the hall by 5 pm because he needed a lot of time to set up, so we made arrangements for someone to be there 2 hours before the wedding at 7. Guess when he showed up.. 9pm! Right in the middle of the speeches the owner Jay shows up. Such an embarrassing moment, he put some plain cake on the table, spent 2 minutes "decorating" it with some tacky whipped cream and ran off. I guess our fault for giving him the whole amount before hand. My advice? DON'T TRUST THEM. SLIMIEST PEOPLE EVER. JAY if you read this you almost ruined my wedding with your slimeball tactics and bad business practice. We didn't even get an apology let alone a refund. I will make sure to let everyone know how much of a cheat you are. That money you stole from us will not benefit you and I hope you get what you deserve

The Persian pastries here are fresh and tasty. I usually buy some to surprise my friends with delicious traditional Persian pastries taste. They have cosy tables to sit down have a coffee and fresh baked donuts too. I have tried the Persian traditional ice cream and it is very good. The staff are very friendly . If you live in the area or pass nearby, I highly recommend to visit and enjoy what this place offer.

Persian and middle east bakery but there's Chocolate Eclair (french specialities), Tiramisu, all their products are awesome, the hot chocolate was perfect as well !!! Don't go to Starbucks or Earls ! Quite honestly, would not go here again. The service was great, but they spelled birthday wrong, the birthday person’s name wrong, the cake was not very good with a pre-made frozen filling, and they did not have a box big enough for the cake so we had to carry it out with an open box. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, was disappointed.

I buy birthday cakes from Golestan Bakery for friends on a regular basis. I've never had to pre-order any because they usually have an excellent selection - and they're very reasonably priced. The coffee cakes are our favourite. They add the Happy Birthday message on the spot and are eager to please. I'm so glad they're located in my neighbourhood!

Went in a little later in the afternoon, bough a variety of small cakes and roulades, but they easily fell apart while eating, and the jelly did not look like it was made today at all. I would expect more from the prices they charge, however what we got was day old pastries, definitely not a good impression on the guests we had who ate it as well.

I had little time to organize my moms birthday party and Jay came out to present me with the most beautiful cake I had ever seen. My moms birthday was a hit and it was delicious too! I found this bakery online when looking for a custom bday cake for a friends 50th. I had photos and notes of the cake I wanted . I spent considerable time in a consultation where I was told the cake would be "no problem" . The day of the bday I went to pick up the cake. The cake was so ugly and poorly done even the lady at the front counter was embarrased . I was told to take the cake and they would refund me the money as they required prepayment. When I brought the cake to the party ( multiple spelling mistakes) everyone had a big laugh and was shocked at the amount this bakery charged. Very embarrassing situation. I have called and still no refund. Take this as a warning, do not get your cakes for any event made here. They didn't have the decency to make it right. I wish I could post photos. Crooked lettering, spelling mistakes, missing items.

Ordered a last-minute birthday cake for a friend with a 2 hour turn-around. Not only were they extremely helpful and kind on the phone, the price was reasonable and the person who delivered it to our party was very kind and left a great impression on the guests. A super cute authentic and quaint local Persian bakery in the heart of West Van and super close to the ocean is where this little gem resides. The staff here are awesome people, extremely friendly, approachable and very talented at making delicious treats! They offer a great extensive range of sweet based snacks, baklava and cookies as well as some on the more savory side at only $13 per lbs pix and mix style. I highly recommend giving this place a shot and indulging in some delicious Persian culture! My favorite by far is the Shekar Pareh or the Chickpea Cookie which are both a deadly tasty combo with a coffee and sat on the beach watching the waves. Love this joint and will definitely visit again! They also do some very impressive looking cakes for birthdays and special occasions as well as ice creams and sorbets. Support local!

Visited Vancouver for first time from Seattle. The bakery reminded me all beautiful memories of Iran! I admit that I ate the most delicious and freshly made “shirinijat” here at Golestan Bakery. Moreover, the cashiers/sellers (two ladies) were so friendly, polite, and helpful. Loved this place and will definitely visit this location again.

We received 2 different quotes for a 8" cake, as sky rocketting the quote were for such a small cake: 1 240$ from Golestan in North Van and $200 from Golestan in West Van! Dont know what makes this $40 difference but we went with the West Van one. The results were dissapointing, the cake looks done by an amateur.. the icing was super thick and uneven and the cake inside was overcooked on some areas ( I had bought at least 10 cakes from this bakery in the past and had noticed the bottom of their cakes overcooked at times but didnt thought they are that recless to use an overcooked cake on a customize order...)...overall I can say they lost a customer who used to shop at least once a week from their store...

I ordered a cake for my daughter due to the previous good reviews and paid 2x the regular amount for it. Only because I can’t bake due to having a newborn. I sent Jay a picture of the cake that I want and discussed the things from top to bottom. He even complimented me how knowledgeable I am with the cake. I told him I bake cakes too and the reason why I can’t bake right now is I have a fussy newborn. So, Baker to baker (and from the photo) we understand each other. Came to pick up the cake and lo and behold. The size of my cake was half of what I ordered. Cake was supposed to be 5 inches tall and it’s not even 2 1/2. Cake doesn’t even have a cake board underneath. (There’s a dummy cake as a first layer.) Cake was supposed to be deep red and it’s just red. (One of the reasons why he was charging extra because it’s hard to get that deep red colour. Which is true if you do not use gel colour or cheap water-based food colours.) Cake was supposed to to have gold embellishments and my daughters name in gold as well and it was just sad yellow fondant. (I was charged extra for this because as Jay said, GOLD is expensive.) The fondant cutting and arrangement wasn’t even clean. They don’t even have the proper box for the cake. I ordered a 2 tiered cake. It was just a plain box that you are not supposed to close because common sense will tell you that it is not possible to close the box. It was raining and imagine towing an open cake going back to the car. The lady that I talked to when I picked up the cake barely speaks English and she called Jay to talk to me. And guess what, $10 discount? I am so insulted. I didn’t want $10. I wanted an apology for not meeting the expectations we have both talked about. Please be wise and find another baker. Jay is a total rip off and I would never, ever order from here again. He will tell you all sorts of lies for you to think that you are paying for a worthy cake and to keep on charging for an extra. Honestly, I should have just baked my daughters cake.

We stopped by last night because I had a craving for the persian delights! I love the fresh chickpea cookies, not too sweet and melts in your mouth, walnut cookies are light and chewy, merigue-like. The pistachio decorated sugar cookies with jam are also my among favourites, perfect with tea or coffee ;) The owner is lovely and always makes us feel welcome!

I was looking for a bakery to make my parents 50th wedding anniversary cake with an idea from Pinterest. Jay (the cake master and owner) was kind, patient, and informative. He was very accommodating and was able to create a cake with my ideas and pictures and exceed my expectations. The cake was received with great delight from my parents and their guests. Comments included how light and flavourful and not too sweet the vanilla cake was and the fresh cream icing was perfect and fresh. I also purchased a selection of cookies that were very well received. It is now my go to place for a special occasion cake and desserts.

I ordered a rectangle-shaped birthday cake. When I picked up the cake the day of my daughter's birthday I discovered that Golestan had made a round cake. At the party, the children all passed on the cake. Why? The mousse had green mould in it. I paid $35 for this. It looked to me like Golelstan had simply taken an old cake (wrong shape too!) and dressed it up. Hard to believe a bakery business could be this shoddy!

The menu said 2 frozen yogurts for $6.00. The cashier charged me $7.00 and gave me $2.50 change. So she charged me $1 more than the advertised menu price and then gave me $.50 less change than I should have got for the marked up $7 price. The cashier incredibly decided to rip me off 2x in one transaction. Watch the menu price and count your change, because I'm sure I'm not the only one they do this to. If you expect to get good reviews, you should charge the menu price and give correct change to everyone. No, I'm not interested in coming into your bakery ever again for any reason. You had one chance to make me a repeat customer and instead decided to rip me off on my first and last visit there. You get 1 star and I would give you 0 if I could. I highly recommend not going to this bakery. Sorry I'm not Persian.

I ordered my wedding cake from Golestan Bakery. It was nothing like they promised. The cake was soo basic, just stack of cakes... Also he charged us for delivery, and did not show up on time. He was supposed to show up at 5pm before our guests and set up everything, but came close to 9pm, interrupted my father-in-laws speech and started stacking the cake in front of 450 guests we had. Then he took his whipping cream bag and started decorating it. On top of that he was chewing gum and talking through his Bluetooth in his ear. It was extremely rude, and we were embarrassed. The sad part is that it costed up over $900, and some of our guests told us that some part of cake was frozen. When I told him about his service, he did not even apologize. Their pastries in the store is good though.

First the customer service is top notch. Jay/Jalal is really accommodatin and friendly. Got cake for any occasion, I had the experience of dealing with Jay in two different events. My own engagement and my sister in law wedding. The best tasting cake ever!!! Just the right amount of cream and cake. Highly recommended.

We bought a saffron ice cream and one faloodeh, the saffron ice cream tastes like anything except for saffron. It was definitely the worst saffron ice cream I have ever tried. And faloodeh was 90% ice and 10% faloodeh. I feel like I have been tricked with my purchase. Will never return here.

Agha Jalal makes the most amazing cakes ever ... He made my sisters engagement cake and the taste and design was exquisite .... He also made my dirty 30 th birthday cake two levels and was nothing left my guests were licking their forks and plates cuz it was sooooo tasty .....
