Excellent and friendly service and good food. The steaks are done very well and come with perfectly cooked seasonal vegetables. I recommend the Watermelon Blitz especially for a hot summer day. The patio is built very enclosed despite it being right beside a busy street with cars zipping by. Pleasant atmosphere, but the food could use slightly less salt overall.

We went here for our 5th wedding anniversary after hearing good things from a variety of people. We could not be happier with the experience. They have an online reservation system through OpenTable, which was a nice start. We were welcomed early for our reservation as well. Our server Kyle was the best server we’ve had in recent memory, and he made honest, helpful recommendations. He tended to the table the perfect amount. He made recommendations for cocktails, and the bartender creations were delicious! The food was delicious, and overall, with appetizer, alcohol, entries (one of which was steak), our bill was approximately $100 (before tip). For the quality of food and service, the price was excellent. We will definitely go back.

I highly recommend the pan seared duck breast and the best in the show for dessert and it was absolutely delicious. The duck breast was juicy and tender, the risotto was yummy and the dessert was heavenly, especially paired with my favourite wine, Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon Blanc. In addition our server (can’t remember the gentlemen’s name) made the experience even better! Can’t wait to be back and try new dishes!

Great hotel lobby bar and restaurant. I had two meals here in one day. 1) a salmon salad and 2) a schnitzel and great wine and cocktails. See the pics. Service was great and the crowd and atmosphere were energetic and fun. Only recommendation is that music needs to be improved...it was just an annoying Spotify playlist.

Priced far too highly for quality of food. Many things are served technically incorrect. Too much salt, or too much grease, or cold food. Rarely does it live up to its own expectations, let alone the customer's. It does receive it's 3 stars for great service and atmosphere, and it never has more than one technical mistake - meaning food is always edible and likely to not be sent back.

We sat outside, cause that's all we can do, now. Proof had a number of large umbrellas and a tent top. There were some tables more out into a garden, with less weather protection. It actually rained, people out in the garden had to move under the balconies of the hotel. We had an excellent table under the tent and were not affected by the rain. Fairly private too. The waitress was good. She took our orders promptly and came back often at the start of our visit. My partner was undecided on what she wanted to eat. Later,, I think the waitress came by little to much, and disturbed our conversation. That's personal for us, others might like the entertainment. Our drinks and appetizers arrived quickly, so did our mains! For a somewhat (as advertised) upscale restaurant the portions were generous. The appetizer, "Street Food" had lots of fries which I found a little dry. Some drizzle of sauce but not enough for me. I asked for a side of mayonnaise, the waitress brought some, a small portion. A little stingy in my estimation. Later I asked for mayonnaise for my burger platter. She brought more, two small portions, still not enough for my tastes. We were satisfied with our visit, we would go again!

I have heard very good things about proof so I decided to try it myself. Was instantly greeted upon walking in by the staff and seated promptly. The ambiance was very aesthetically pleasing and made for an excellent dinning experience. The service was wonderful and food was delicious. Food was great! Not very much selection, but delicious none the less. We went for breakfast at around 10am and we were the only people in the restaurant. The staff were friendly... but they were cleaning up around our table.. if we felt like we were in a barbershop/hair salon... getting swept close to our feet....tables being set... chairs being moved around..scraping against the hardware..overall not the best atmosphere but I imagine they do better when the restaurant is at full capacity. I also felt somewhat that the hostess looked at us with some prejudice... knowing the restaurant is on the pricey end, I don't think it's fair to do that...they are getting our business no matter what.. I just feel a little bit offended.

Our first time there and it was a pleasant experience. Nicely decorated, good service, and the food was excellent. Note that some of the bowls are served cold which was unexpected. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately and registering your car for parking is quick and simple. We did have to wait longer than expected to be seated (considering we had a reservation), but they seated us in the bar area with drinks as we waited which was just fine. Worth a try.

Long story short, it was unexceptional. Although practically empty on a Saturday night, it took forever for someone to finally show up to take our order. No cordiality at all, server delivered our drinks and then we didn't see him again until my wife went to look for him so we could get our tab and go to our room. We felt like the employees didn't want to be there, which made us not want to stay either.

We went to Proof for brunch recently, and my husband and I both said how it was the best brunch we've had in a long time. Our server was really friendly, the food was beautiful and tasted amazing, and the fact that we could show up without a reservation at peak brunch time on a Sunday and be seated immediately was a treat. Also, as a pregnant lady I really appreciated the amount of fun non-alcoholic drinks they had. I highly recommend the VirGin & Tonic and plan to go back to try many more.

Laura, went out of her way to exceed our expectations; she was responsive and helped us customize a dining experience that blew our guests away. We had custom cocktails created and a huge menu of food options. The food itself, as usual, did not disappoint. I came specifically for the caesars but also got a charcuterie board and nosh to share. The flavours of the board were banal and disappointing and the bread that they served it with was so thin that it fell apart when you tried to eat it. Very disappointing for the price they charge. The nosh comes with only a few pieces of naan bread, and a lot of hummus and ricotta dips. The proportions are off and they make you pay for extra naan. Wasn't impressed with this aspect also. Otherwise the presentation was lovely, the caesars were tasty and the service was top notch. Dissapointed with the experience overall.

Proof KItchen and Lounge at Delta Hotel: March 9th - Birthday dinner with my son, his was last week, and his Mother's is this week. The Poke Bowl of Tuna was really amazing.THe mushroom ravioli was beautiful and tasty. Try the schnitzel if you are really hungry ... great dinners and salads. Service was above what I expected for a hotel restaurant. yes it was a five star for all the above reasons. Price with wine was easy on the credit card :-) Ordered two birthday deserts when I made the reservation. This was the best Lava cake any of us have had, hands down. P.S. they gave me a Lava cake for my birthday in two weeks so that I wouldn't have to eat alone. W.H.

Service was exceptional, the server Lauren enhanced our dining experience. The pacing of the delivery of the food was excellent. The quality of the food was good and what you would expect in this price range. The negative. The choice and volume of the music ruined the dining experience. My wife and I came in for a 6:00 pm dinner and discovered that the restaurant was less than half full but still was quite noisy. The music choice; rap and dance music seemed to contradict the fine dining surroundings and seemed to intrude on the dining experience as a whole.

Group of 4 on the patio for my son’s 18th birthday. He started with beef carpaccio followed by the duck and throughly enjoyed both. The barley risotto was very good. I had fish tacos and the tenderloin and both were tasty. Steak was cooked perfectly and the scallop potatoes were a pleasant surprise. Our dates went with the tuna bowl and the chicken bowl and found them enjoyable. Almost $300 with a couple of cocktails and dessert but well worth it. Seated on time and the service was good. No complaints and I will be back.

We came here for late night drinks, not dinner, so can't comment on the quality of the food. The drinks were definitely on the pricey side. Service was also a tad bit slow, despite us being among a handful of patrons that night. This place is part of the Delta hotel, so feel free to use their hotel parking lot and the hostess will validate your parking for you.

This is one of the best patios in Waterloo, hands down. The food is excellent (I highly recommend the sliders.) They also have an amazing craft beer selection on tap. However, it's a bit of a splurge. The meals are fairly reasonable, but they get you on drink prices or desserts.

Spend a lot of time in Waterloo for work and stay at the Delta. Proof is a great option, especially when we want to stay close to the hotel. Great food and very good service overall. Jeneane, is the best of the best. One of my co-workers said it best, “Proof is a great restaurant and place to hangout for drinks. It is a fantastic place when Jeneane is taking care of us”. I couldn’t agree more.

Ambience is 5/5. Food is 4/5. Service is 10/5. Loved the dining but the cocktails menu seemed a bit less of variation. Otherwise it's best place for a date or a family dine in. Perfect for holiday evening special meal. Though I would suggest to go on random off day as it gets a bit loud and crowded because of its popularity.

Great place, but not great vegan food. It's a pretty nice place tbh, expensive but it fits the vibe. Vegan burger was terrible though, it's advertised as Impossible burger for $20, but it's just black beans "mixed with impossible burger". It tasted like beans, pretty bad, wouldn't get it again. They have a vegan cake that tasted like Reese, pretty good, and the waiters were very nice.

We ordered 1 Proof Signature Burger, 2 Rigatoni Trifectas, and 1 Proof Chicken Club. Although, their music playlist was pretty bad/all over the place, I usually don't notice music in restaurants but it was noticeable here.

I had their veggie burger with regular cheese instead of the vegan stuff. The burger was delicious, however their sides leave a little to be desired. I had the Caesar salad, and I don't know whether they make their own dressing or whether they buy it, but it was very heavy on the anchovy paste, and tasted very fishy. I then ordered a side of fries to at least have something edible with the burger, and the fries they brought me had soaked up a lot of the oil, and subsequently tasted very oily. I didn't have any of their desserts, but the people I was with tried their vegan dessert and said it was very enjoyable, despite being vegan.

My absolute favorite place to eat in Waterloo. Whenever I visit Waterloo I stay at the Delta and having such stellar cuisine in house is super convenient. Their menu is very modern, chalk full of healthy ingredients and very vegetarian friendly. The ambience is also modern and staff is bright and cheery. I love their mock tails too. Be sure to try the new veggie burger and the Mediterranean platter appetizer.

I would like to to express my gratitude to the wonderful host Abby who accomodated us wonderfully as well as made a point to stop by our table to check in with her bubbly personality! Amber was also a person who stood out as being incredible attentive and was successful at correcting a couple issues we experienced. She handled or concerns swiftly and with deep care. The food was great! It was quality and I feel resonable priced for the standard offered. We were there celebrating my daughters birthday, her meal was a tuna dish that had to be return due to the fact that the raw tuna did not smell or taste fresh. Also, three of us ordered the “special” lamb chops and they did not come as ordered, medium rare and turned out that we each paid over $50 for each “special”! The mashed potatoes were super salty too! The other dishes were okay but nothing to write home about! Disappointed overall experience!

This maybe the first place that I felt the need to leave a negative review. I am sorry, but the food doesn't live up to the expectation created by the ambiance and the menu. My main course was supposed to have bone broth in it, which would have been a warm welcome to very cold day and my irritated throat... But when the dish came, the broth was missing! I asked twice, but both the times I was told that it was reduced and was already on my plate. Well unfortunately I couldn't find it. (Picture attached). The manager did comp my dish and asked if they could get me something else, but they didn't have any chicken broth...:( Anyway, I feel bad that I left the plate more than 3/4th full.

There are private dining rooms for larger groups or events. There is also a patio area for those nicer summer days. The decor is modern and fresh, complimenting well with the hotel decor. My friend and I arrived toward the end of breakfast on a weekday, but was still able to order breakfast. She had the pancakes, I had the eggs benedict. Food came in reasonable time. The portions were huge. Both the pancakes and the benedict were delicious. I absolutely loved their potatoes. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive and let us know about the timing of our food arrival, and other disruptions in the restaurant. For example they were changing setup for lunch which involved moving some chairs, and she let us know there would be some noise. It is a bit pricey though, so definitely not very student friendly, but honestly I prefer it since it kept the ambience more classy and quiet. I would recommend it if you prefer a higher end dining experience, and definitely try it if you're staying at the hotel.

I was a little underwhelmed by our experience. It was early, 5pm on a Friday. The restaurant did not appear busy yet. We were a group of 9 and booked ahead. The restaurant is very stylish and would work for lots of different occasions; I felt quite positive when I arrived. Service was a bit lack luster though. The person waiting on our table had a tendency to get distracted. I had to remind them of people waiting to make a drink order more than once before he left the table. The food was only ok. I ordered the ruben, and by the time it got to me the top was nice and toasty, but the bottom slice of bread was soggy. My dessert was delicious (but admittedly so rich I had to take most of it home with me...I'm ok with that). It took a very long time for the bills to come at the end, and again, the server seemed distracted and/or confused (though very polite). Overall, the experience was only so-so. I would go again if that's what my group chose, but I would not seek it out myself based on this experience.

My husband and I visited Proof last evening for our anniversary dinner. When we arrived they quickly sat us in spite of being unable to find our reservations, which I realized was an error I had made booking on-line. Our server made a prompt appearance and after a long perusal of the menu we made our choices. We ordered Pickerel Fritters and a Harvest Plate for appetizers and Scallop Pappardelle and a 8oz Sirloin for the mains. The Pickerel Fritters were delicious, the Harvest Plate was so so although my husband and I both agreed the ciopellini onions on that plate were really good. With some nice spacing our mains arrived, my husband's steak was the best steak I've tasted in a very long time, he also ordered the mushroom ragout to accompany his steak, the ragout fell a little flat though. My pappardelle was mixed for me, although this was definitely more a matter of personal taste rather than an error on the restaurants part, the pasta was perfectly cooked and the scallops were yummy. I look forward to returning to try their buttercup ravioli.

I generally have a great experience at Proof, drinks and food are always good. Today’s experience was extremely off putting and disrespectful. I set a reservation for 5pm. I understand with COVID there are timelines but nothing was mentioned on the reservation made online. Two out of the three of us arrived at 5pm. The third member arrived 10 minutes later (5:10) and is told by the manager that we have one hour until our reservation is up. We were taken back but understood and confirmed that we could be there until 6:30. From 6pm onwards until 6:30 (when we left) we were stared at by staff, looking at their watches, servers were coming to our table clearing dishes and drinks before they were finished. It was not an environment that felt welcoming. The server was great and polite, but the manager was pushy and unfortunately ruined our drinks and dinner. This is not a dive and the service provided by the manager was not one of a place that charges $12 for drinks & $25 for a main. As mentioned before, I have always had great experiences with Proof. But this service was unacceptable, extremely off putting, and rude.

Super "meh". I've been here 3 times now trying to give them the benefit of the doubt as we live nearby and the decor looks cute, but it's sooo basic, with the service and food really lacking and leaves you feeling like you just wasted your money. If you're going out to have a special meal, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area. The waitress seemed like she constantly wanted to flee from our table even though there was only 1 other table, and we had waited by the front hostess area for 10 minutes before I went in to ask to be seated, only to be met with excuses and no apology. We just went for lunch, and their new menu seems like they're trying to do something Baja style or Mexican and it was poorly imitated andbland. The fish tacos literally have no sauce on them and the pork cracklings is just pork rinds out of a bag with some dip, shredded tasteless cheese, and massive branches of cilantro that I had to cut up. Terrible. If you're trying to be classy and swanky, it's not working Proof!

Service was excellent, but the food wasn't anything special. We split the pork belly and Caesar salad to start. Pork belly was a bit over seared in some spots, but still managed not to crisp up as much as it should have. The salad was disappointingly bland. Both were passable, just not up to what we were hoping for. Salmon and tuna poke mains were along a similar vein. At $110 plus tip for this and 2 drinks, the value isn't there to be worthy of a repeat visit for us.

Service was good. We did the 40 min lunch and were likely on that turnaround timeline. Server named Charlotte was great. No issues taking the salad back to the kitchen and offering to fix it.

I was underwhelmed by the experience to say the least. Granted we had maybe 45 in our party, so I expected the delivery of food to be slower than normal, but an hour for the appetizers was a little ridiculous. My colleague was vegetarian so she asked for the ceasar to be made without bacon but was still served hers with bacon, and then to top it off asked for her dinner to be made with tofu and instead received it with chicken. Yes, these mistakes were fixed, but shouldn't have been made to begin with. My steak was supposed to be blue and instead was somewhere between medium rare moving to rare...yes again not the worst mistake, but when you are paying premium prices. .. I expected better. On top of that, I asked for fries as opposed to veggies and they still brought the veggies...I just don't like steamed veggies...and then when they were asked to bring a side of fries for me they brought and handed then to someone else. ..and this was the same server. Again all issues that won't end the world, but I likely won't return. Other restaurants other better quality food and better prices. The waiters were certainly friendly and keeping in mind they were serving 45 people, they did a great job. One in particular stood out. ..and shame on me for not getting his name as he is certainly worth the praise.

The food is usually very good and it has a lively atmosphere. So, this is why we chose Proof for my birthday. The beef carpaccio was wonderful. Unfortunately, when my main came there was a long very curly hair in the salad and the server not only had to be flagged down to check to deal with it but drinks ran dry. He was very busy so we hoped it was all an oversight and tried to be polite but we did not feel like there was any celebration at hand. The salad ended up on our bill. No manager checked on us. We had to note that we were not paying for the “hair salad” in the end and I doubt we will be back. Too bad.

Was quite disappointed with our experience. I don't typically leave negative reviews, but also don't want others to have the same experience we did. The food isn't as great as I expected. Calamari was extra chewy, and not your typical calamari. Fries came out under cooked. Pickerel was delicious. Mediterranean chicken wasn't great. Steak bowl, was a plate with a small serving of steak, which tasted good, next to a salad which was mediocre, not what was expected. Chocolate ganache for dessert was described as having berries, came out as just a slice of ganache, not as described at all. Very underwhelmed.

My husband and I chose Proof as our non-traditional wedding venue and we couldn't have been happier with the way things turned out. We had a 100 person guest-list and did a cocktail-style reception in the front section of the venue. We were also supposed to have the patio, but unfortunately it rained that day so we weren't able to use that area, but there was still plenty of space! We received so many compliments on the food, drinks, and aesthetic of the venue - it truly is beautiful. Emma took care of us from start to finish. She was constantly communicating with us and took the time to explain everything in a great amount of detail. She met with us multiple times before the event and we were 100% comfortable on the day of the wedding that everything would be taken care of, and it absolutely was! We couldn't have done it without Emma. If you're looking at non-traditional wedding venues, Proof is an excellent choice. It's also amazing that the restaurant is located inside a beautiful hotel. We had a lot of out-of-town guests who didn't even have to go outside to go back to their room! It was absolutely perfect, we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Thank you so much Emma & Proof!!

While I wouldn't go there on my own for the food, I would definitely go here for the drinks! I got their mac and cheese and honestly this is what brought my review from 5/5 to 4/5. It didn't have too much flavour and I found that it was just a thin butter sauce with cheese curds mixed in. I would still go here, just not for this dish.

Went there for a lunch meeting. There's plenty of free parking, in two different lots nice and close to the restaurant. It was well decorated, clean and quiet. I came here for dinner and ordered the vegan pot pie. Let me preface by saying that I regularly eat vegan food. The crust was incredibly crispy and good, but it's downhill from there. I know the menu lays out that it includes vegetables and jackfruit (a common vegan protein substitute), but I'm surprised that there was no protein like lentils or barley to make the dish feel more substantial. I would've even appreciated potatoes in there. It just felt like boiled veggies with a pastry overtop. And the meal was way too salty. No real flavour to the dish and it was like the salt was trying to mask the lack of flavour. My partner also noted that the duck he had was also too salty. I think that the restaurant had potential, but with the heavy use of salt, it lacked the balance and flavour I was expecting.

Came here last night for my queen's birthday dinner. We enjoyed ourselves, despite the obvious restrictions, and lack of parking (had to park off property). The service was friendly and very accommodating, the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. The food was all tasty, with both of our steaks being done perfectly to both medium and medium-rare. We really enjoyed the salads, and the fries were well made, crispy on the outside and soft enough on the inside. Overall, we had a very enjoyable dinner, and we'll definitely return.

This is the type of restaurant you can dress up for or even come in a bit more casual clothing. It it much larger than it looks and in the summer there is a great patio.

To attract foodies there is room for improvement - Proof Kitchen is located on the ground floor of the Marriott hotel in Waterloo. We made reservations and while being escorted through the front bar area the environment was funky and possessed a lot of energy. Our table was located in an area of the restaurant that felt lifeless. We ordered The Award Winning Golden Tacos, Fried Chicken Bao, Crispy Pork Belly and Woolwich Salad. All food was good, fresh arrived quickly. I would not label the food “Award winning” and place this establishment on par with mainstream corporate joints like Kelsey and Montana’s. Service was slow and sometimes non-existent. If you are a real foodie like me, this restaurant is one you can avoid.

The Proof Kitchen has a really nice atmosphere to it. The patio is large and is a nice, relaxing place to eat. The food is good, but despite the prices, not great value, in my opinion. I wouldn't put it at the same level of taste and quality as other similar restaurants in the area, like the Keg or Charcoal. Drink prices are on the high side. You ARE eating and drinking in one of the only nice hotels in Waterloo, where they know a lot of their guests are paying with corporate cards.

Service: the server told us she would be back before the 9pm last call to take our final drink orders but never came. Not a big deal but a little annoying as we weren’t able to order any drinks at all Food: ENTREE: -The beef entree is excellent and probably the best thing on the menu. Pricey but worth it. Would recommend. -The calamari is pretty random in the sense that the sauce tastes really really weird with the calamari and the fried noodles don’t really go with it. The price was ok as the food seemed fresh. Wouldn’t recommend. MAINS: -Duck was very undercooked and cold in the middle. I know it’s common to eat duck on the rarer side but this was almost raw -Truffle burger was ok not bad for the price but not amazing - seafood pasta was beyond bad. The sauce was very very watery (unlike any lobster bisque I’ve ever had) and EXTREMELY salty. The pasta seemed comparable to the precooked tortellini you find at sobeys or zehrs. The shrimp was okay the scallops were rock hard. Overall, really really bad and definitely a bad choice on my part as it was very expensive for the quality. I went here on a Saturday evening with a girlfriend for drinks and apps. I wish I could remember our server. He was amazing! My friend spilled her glass of wine and he re-filled it no charge. He also recommend a very delicious wine for myself. You know they are good when you are about to ask for more water and you look over and it's already been re-filled without you realizing. It's a bit more expensive here but it's worth it!

Myself and a group of friends went to proof for my birthday dinner on a Friday Night. The food was amazing, but the service was terrible and confusing at times, which really put a damper on what should have been a great night. Firstly, our reservation was for 5 people and the table was only set for four. When we asked our waitress for another setting she was rude and didn't seem like she wanted to bring us another setting. This turned out to be a theme for the night as Natasha, our waitress, was inconsistent, not friendly at all, and seemed genuinely confused (or high) at several points throughout the night. When taking drink orders, she seemed annoyed that we needed an extra couple minutes to decide on drinks. Further, after taking our food orders, she repeated our orders to us and got them wrong. She forgot that I was vegan, so she brought me a birthday cake that wasn't vegan and then told me the vegan dessert on the menu wasn't vegan (it's labelled as vegan cake). She refused to ask the manager if this vegan cake from the menu could be the "free" cake for my birthday so we had to find a manager and ask for ourselves (who said the cake would be free). When we first started eating, Natasha checked in on us every 2 minutes (WAY too much). Conversely, after we ate, we waited a full 40 minutes for our bills and had to ask 4 DIFFERENT members of staff for the bills during this time. Natasha was somewhat apologetic when she finally brought our bills, but it seems like she didn't realize we had been waiting for so long or she didn't even care about this. Our reservation was at 5:45 pm and we didn't leave until after 8 pm. We were late to our next event for the night, which began at 8 pm. I am extremely disappointed with this night at proof and I definitely won't be coming back unless Natasha isn't working. The service was seriously so bad that it ruined the evening, even though the food was great. So, so, disappointed.

Proof is one of those restaurants that are able to provide top quality dishes. Every single time I’ve gone, the food never fails to impress me with how delicious it tastes. My personal favourite has to be the green dragon curry dish. The staff are always so friendly, and are more than willing to help you out with any recommendation on the menu. The premise is always impeccable, spotless. Tip: make sure to register your license plate at restaurant entrance, so you don’t have to pay for parking!

Absolutely rubbish customer service at this venue. My group of 3 arrived for a lunch reservation and were told rudely that we couldn't bring an 'external' coffee cup inside. We tried to explain to the waitress that my cousin was not feeling well and it was simply warm water mixed with some medicine that he was sipping on. She didn't even bother giving a response aside from indicating that we must leave the cup at the counter prior to entering. Further to this after we were shown our table we tried to request a warm water with lemon, which she ignored and walked away from until we called her back with a loud "excuse me." The food itself was great but the service was so atrocious that I would not recommend this to anyone else.

The dinning room was a bit chilly which was a little uncomfortable but more importantly our food went cold fast since the marble tables acted as a heat sink. I wasn't expecting much for a restaurant in a hotel lobby but was totally impressed. Service, atmosphere and food was great! The sirloin steak was the best steak I've had in a long time. It's even better than Alberta AAA which I've had a few times. I was able to cut through the medium rare stake with a butter knife. We will be coming back again! A bit weird though having CP24 playing on the screen...

What an amazing place! Proof is my go to recommendation and I’ve had so many great experiences here. However, I recently had a poor experience with a lamb chop that was much too fatty. But when I mentioned it to the waitress and manager they were incredibly accommodating and handled the issue with such care and understanding. I could say so much about the food, the perfunctory manner of the manager, the prices, etc., but it is not worth my time, nor effort. And, reviewers beware. If you post a negative review, you may possibly receive a threatening response to take it down, or, receive a personal threat with rude, guttural language. To the manager. Continue to treat your customers with patronising responses and condescension, and you soon may have no customers left. And, do not dare to send me a personal private message again.

We had a group reservation and got seated quickly at our table. There was a live DJ and we found the music a bit loud so we asked our server, Matthew, if it could be turned down. He went to ask and had the volume lowered a little. Our server really made the experience fantastic. He spoke to us in smaller groups about the specials since it was loud and dark in the restaurant and answered questions about the wine and menu with confidence. He also made conversation with us about celebrating graduation (our graduate was not there) and I mentioned I was graduating. Our meals came out within reasonable time and our server checked on us often. After our meal, he brought out two congratulatory cakes for me and my mom even though we weren't celebrating my graduation. It was very thoughtful of him. The restaurant let us stay as long as we liked and didn't rush us out. Overall it was a great experience.

We held our rehearsal dinner at Proof Kitchen and Lounge and we were beyond impressed! The private space was awesome, and they even added some candles which looked amazing. Matthew our server was fantastic- he was very attentive and had great suggestions for anyone who wasn't sure what to order. All the food and drinks were delicious. It's such a perfect event space that is private if you want it to be (doors close it off) but it can also be open to the rest of the restaurant. Thank you for helping to make our wedding weekend so wonderful!

I was really excited about the hot cocktail menu and it was the main reason we went! We reserved a table for 7:45pm. As soon as we arrived, the waitress told us "last call is at 9pm, do you know what you want?" and we felt really rushed. We were seated at a table RIGHT beside the front door (patio seating which we requested) even though there was a table under their tent, near a heater.. we requested to change tables which was accommodated, although it did seem extremely reluctant.. We placed our first order, two drinks from the hot menu, and an appetizer. We were brought one hot and one cold drink - i didn't notice the ice in the drink until after the server was gone (i was too busy marvelling at my partner's hot drink) so I didn't drink my icy drink and waited for the server to come back. After 10 minutes she hadn't, so I went inside to ask for my drink to be changed. A different server took my request but told me "well that drink is on both menus, so....but anyway, sure we'll swap it, no problem" I took that as her implying that I had made the mistake by not specifying I wanted a hot drink. How should I know it's on both menus? I think our server, who should know the menus, should have asked for clarification about whether I wanted a hot drink like my partner or not. When the server brought my new drink (another 10 minutes or so) she did not take the icy drink away, told us she "didn't even know there was a hot drinks menu" and again reminded us that the kitchen would close soon. We placed an order for 4 fish tacos to share. When our server brought our main, she still did not remove the icy drink, so my partner finally decided to drink it. We waited for over 20 minutes after finishing our main for our server to come back out, which is when we asked for the bill. It took another 10 minutes or so for her to bring that out. Whereupon we discovered that we were charged for the icy drink. The hot drinks were AMAZING, and the fish tacos were pretty good. The chiccarones and dip was ok, nothing special. We may visit again sometime in the winter, purely for the hot drinks/hot patio menu, but not anytime soon.

I booked this place for a large family gathering. The decor and inside the restaurant is beautiful and was the perfect size. However the food was not. No one enjoyed their meals, the server never came around to ask how everything was, only until it was time to pay. The restaurant was surprisingly empty. Came here for date night and the food was great! The only thing to why I didn’t go all the way give it 5 stars was the service, something which felt lacking that night. Overall, the place wasn’t too busy (covid restrictions), food came out in a timely manner and the drinks actually get you buzzin! The steak and tacos are definitely filling, don’t think I would order the appetizer (was good tho) again unless we were super duper hungry Hope they don’t get shut down from covid, it’s a great date night location located in the Delta hotel lobby :)

Baked brie with fruit compote, Chateaubriand, garlic shrimp, roast vegetables and potatoes, chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Where do I begin? 10/10 just doesn't do it justice. It was perfect! Meat was cooked perfectly. Potatoes, veggies, everything....perfect! Instructions were easy to follow and spot on accurate. Really looking forward to dining there in person. Great experience!

Me and my girlfriend now went there for one of our first dates if I knew how the server would treat us I would’ve never went. The server kept hinting at us if we were finished every so often. Ordered food and (drink) because after/during our meal she didn’t even offer us if we wanted to get more drinks? You could tell she didn’t want to be working and was annoyed that she had to serve us. We were clearly having a good time despite her service but when she handed us our bill without asking us we paid and ended up going to Duke instead. The food is good but I will never go back

Had a wonderful evening. There for a business meeting. Jeffery took exceptional care of us. Very attentive; very knowledgeable about the menu; each of us felt that he was our waiter even though he had several other tables. Kitchen exceeded expectations; food was hot, well presented, flavourful; wonderful variety of selections. Everything was well timed. Definitely recommend this place.

You must visit this place... Good food, comfortable seating and very good service. Was looking for a place on a lazy Sunday evening and this one turned out to be a total surprise. The food was superb, the drink was amazing and loved the service. We were seated outside but weather was perfect. Ordered for Mediterranean chicken and a red wine sangria. Flavors were so nice and natural that I loved every bite of it. Desserts menu could have been better but we still ended up ordering caramel custard.

One of my favourite places in all of Loo. High-class, polite waitstaff, well-delivered and delicious food, and a uniquely modern and interesting atmosphere. The decor feels math-related, true to the name, though the logic problems could definitely be more difficult. I'd recommend their cocktails and, if you can go on a Sunday, the Roast special. Their appetizers are also varied and unbelievably well executed!

This seems to be out of context from some of the other reviews , but our visit was not good. To start our waitress did not know how to open a bottle of wine, I had to do it for her, she says she worked there three months. The service was very poor, she messed up two drink orders in our party. We were there for over three hours. Our reservation was for 6:15, but we didnt get seated until about 6:40 The waitress idn't make us pay for desert, but it took so long to come we actually paid and left before they arrived I wouldn't recommend this place

Excellent staff and nice decor. I like to judge a restaurant by not having 'holes' in their menu: a large variance in the quality of dishes. That being said, their caesar salad with grilled chicken was by far one of the most bland variants of that dish I have ever had. Not only was the chicken dry, but the lettuce was limp and there was about 6 pieces of lettuce in total. Fortunately that's the only menu item thus far that I have found disappointing.

Great place to get brunch with friends and family! I love the bright interior decor, which made it a really nice place to eat and chat. Food was decent; I had the eggs benedict from the brunch menu and it was good, but the whole thing tasted basically like BBQ sauce. My dad had the turkey club which he loved. Overall, food is overpriced for what you get, but the servers were friendly and the restaurant has a great atmosphere!

I've tried their dinner menu many times from ordering room service during my stay at the Delta. There's something about their fries that I really like, although their fries aren't actually the best (I think I like the herbs/spices that are used). Today, 3 friends and I came here for their brunch and we actually sat down at the restaurant. Walking in, I really enjoyed the ambiance. We ordered: 1. Good Choices: two poached eggs, buttermilk corn waffle, dinosaur kale, sauté onions, applewood smoked bacon, breakfast link sausage, maple bourbon bbq sauce - 2 of us ordered this dish. The quality of the poached eggs was very inconsistent. My friend's egg yolks were still runny, whereas mine were over cooked. The kale + onions were mixed together and I found that part a bit too salty.. The sausage and waffles were average. Bacon normally isn't my favourite but I'd say it was what I liked the most out of everything. 2. Dreams of Montreal: Citrus tea cured Coho salmon, herring and caper potato salad, soft boiled egg, mini Montreal bagels 3. Breakfast Burger: Norwich County beef, smoked cheddar, peameal bacon, poached egg, Hollandaise, house baked milk bun, thrice cooked frites - Loaded burger.. will definitely fill your empty stomach. It came with a choice of salad or fries as the side. The burger (even the buns) looked a little greasy, but overall a good meal if you prefer something heavier. Almost forgot to mention that we were a bit disappointed with their service.. our server did not appear friendly or approachable at all. We often felt ignored when trying to ask for things. But I believe this is likely just a one-time exception, as the other servers seemed more welcoming to their customers.

This new restaurant is promising. The brunch menu was inventive, offering creative spins on poached eggs, waffles, fruit and granola. Service was prompt and courteous, food arrived quickly, and plating was aesthetically pleasing. However, I found the prices were somewhat high for the size and quality of the plates. Also, I feel the theme of the restaurant may be a little too on the nose; it is quite clear the clientele they wish to attract. On the whole, a very pleasant and tasty brunch at the Proof Kitchen.

Unfortunately brunch was not worth the money at all. The food was incredibly bland although being described as flavourful on the menu. The bomb dia was best described as soupy. Our caesars were undressed with no pickle/celery stick/garnish. We were charged for still water unknowingly, only being offered still or sparkling. The service was unreasonably slow although the waitstaff was obviously trying their best (even the manager was chipping in) they were obviously understaffed. Brunch was not worth over $50 plus tip.

Great food, had the salmon, but wait time was an issue. However, the manager came out and gave two options. Drinks on him, without dinner, or he expedites dinner and the drinks are still on him. They handled us delicately and made us feel welcome, important, even thought they had large parties that night (the reason for delayed service). Needles to say, the server received a handsome tip (he was pretty amazing after all). Go eat there, it is worth the wait!

As a Vegan, Proof has limited to NO OPTIONS for vegans and vegetarians. First of all, there is no indication of vegetarian or vegan dishes (no V at the side of titles). Without an indicator, the customer has to read the whole menu to try to find options available. To make it more difficult, a lot of the ingredients they use in the dishes are not included in the description, such as butter or milk. Even in ordering a salad from the waitress, was I then informed that the sauce has fish in it— not mentioned in the description. This should be stated in the description because Proof should not expect Vegan to have to publicly declare their diet or feel the need to constantly be checking with waiters, therefore having to rely on the dietary education of servers. It should be simple enough to order off of the menu and feel comfortable and confident eating. In addition, consider how this may affect someone with mild to severe allergies who choose, for personal reasons, to not explain their needs. I strongly encourage Proof to expand their menu to be more dietary inclusive and more transparent about ingredients and preparation. I do not feel comfortable in eating at Proof again until changes are made to fulfil my confidence in their kitchen. I would not recommend this place to vegans and vegetarians or those with dietary restrictions.

First of all, I'm not a big fan of pricey dinner unless they are really, by that, I mean, really good. Just my thoughts tho. Atmosphere is cosy and comfortable. I like brunch there over dinner. Dinner feels kinda generic and over-priced a little bit to me. Good for group of friends gathering around tho. I dined in there twice during busy hours. And it took a while to serve. I dont mind waiting but just for your info.

Beautiful atmosphere and decoration and very friendly staff. Menu offered quite a wide selection of dinner dishes and prices were reasonable for the quality of food. The food took quite a while to be served considering the restaurant was fairly empty, so I wouldn't recommend being in a rush and dining here. Ordered the roast beef, which was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes side was a bit too rich and took away from the taste of the roast beef. My portion size was very reasonable but another in my group ordered the raviolis which looked fairly small. Overall a very good experience and may return if I'm back in Waterloo again!

I was visiting Waterloo to visit some family members. Christmas Day there was not too much open so we decided on Proof. Upon entering we were greeted promptly and asked if we had reservations. I said no. It was not busy at all. 1 pm in the afternoon..more than half of the tables were empty. I was told they would check. Someone of authority came and we were seated in a booth. That was good. Yet it seemed that we were looked down upon. Two young men, daughter in law, baby in a stroller and myself. We wore simple casual clothes. Took forever to have our drink orders taken. When they were, it was the bartender serving us. Food was ordered. 3 turkey meals at $27. each and a vegan cauliflower steak...for $20. Plus drinks. The meals were very tasty and well prepared except the steak. The menu is misleading. We expected sides with the steak. It was just a slice of grilled cauliflower on a sauce with an arugula garnish. Hardly worth $20. Total bill came to $170. after drinks. Yet I felt we were vastly neglected the whole time. We constantly had to ask for coffee or cream. I don't know if it was because of our appearance or what but I felt the staff less than attentive. The bartender did his best as he was mixing for the whole establishment. Yet there were other staff including servers standing around doing nothing most of the time with hardly any tables or customers. I as well as my son have been in the service industry for years and have not experienced such poor attention to service. I certainly know I would not spend another penny at Proof. I feel we were badly prejudged. I guess my credit card didn't have the necessary pull. If this is their standard service then I fear for the future of this establishment.

Probably one of the worst service experience received from a restaurant in the region that seems to be claiming to be “upscale”. One requested the burger cut in half because of a disability and her response was “I’ll bring you a steak knife”. Masala street snack were a MASSIVE, cold and wet plate of vegetables(enough to feed 4). Waitress became absent after first round of drinks and we had to clear our table of our cocktail and beer glasses to the end of the table for when she brought the bottles of wine over. Food was “ok” but wouldn’t say much better than that. Significantly much better restaurant options available within 1km of this place

Sadly our experience here was disappointing! Two stars for two good things. Our sever Emily and the Lamb Tacos. Both were excellent. However, The Tuna Tartar was tasteless. The pork belly was as tough as the dried apple rings it was served with. Our guest’s meals were just ok. The steak and a burger. Pub quality at inflated prices. I can see why no reservation needed on a Saturday night now. Pull up your socks. The competition in the area is growing!
