Best croissants anywhere...super yummy baked goods....steep prices but well worthit.
great service but the cake i bought wasn't the taste i was expecting
Amazing baked goods! One of the best croissant I've had in town, in love with their orange brioche. Re command to visit during the weekend, since they have special weekend-only items. Will come back to try the mousse cakes!
I visited this place with a few friends, where I got a Creme Carre danish, an almond croissant, and a ham & cheese croissant. The quality of the pastries were absolutely impeccable, while tasting fresh and delicious. My personal favourites were the ham & cheese croissant and the creme carre danish - I will definitely buy them again.
A la Parisien retreat in the heart of Toronto's Leaside area that was first settled in 1813 by the family that bears its name. The cafe service a genuine French pastry that is baked fresh on there premise each night. It you are not early you may miss out on your favourite delights
Dissapointed in the cake we bought, it was soggy and I don’t know who made the recipe but our cake looked like a mix of cheese and ham mashed into the shape of a cake. And also, if you were to package a cake, atleast be generous enough to give the cake it’s own proper box. You know, so that it doesn’t slide around the box?
Good location. But disappointed with the taste of the pastries. Really not what I was expecting
By a million miles, the best Croissants and French pastries in Toronto. What else can I say...
Very good customer service, clean and great food
Can't go wrong with Rahier. Great flaky buttery croissant, and the baguettes are fresh and chewy. Rahier is certainly a must for those who love croissant and a great baguette.
I love their pastries! They are delicious especially those almond croissant
I buy their croissants at Nicky's downtown. Amazing. Best croissants. Where else in the downtown are they sold?
Best croissants and tartes in town. the place is cute and the staff welcoming.
We’ve tried quite a few different patisseries around North York, and we keep coming back to Rahier for more. My kids refuse to eat croissants from anywhere else (yes we have a problem but let’s not debate our parenting skills here). I’m obsessed with their almond croissant, the Bichon pastry, the palmiers cookies and the Dumas cake. It’s a bit unfair (wish I could just take off a fraction of a star instead of a full one) but I’m not a big fan of their macarons. Edit (April 24, 2021): we picked up some macarons again - huge improvement from the last time we tried them! It’s more moist yet still fluffy. Seems less sweet too and allows the more of the delicate flavours to come through compared to the last time we tried! Here’s your 5th star!
Bought a couple of baguettes. Used to live in the area and always bought bread there. Today, my baguettes were essentially Italian bread. Light, dry, and none of the qualities of a true baguette. Very very disappointing.
Lovely set up, very artistic and nice looking pastries all around the store! A nice quiet meeting place to catch up with a friend. :)
First time here and loved it. Excellent variety if croissants and baked goods. Definitely will return.
Amazing pastries & desserts! The most beautiful & delicious items. And great & friendly staff! ☕Also.. the coffee is fantastic!✨
It’s been a long time since we visited Rahier, but we decided to stop by and purchase some treats for our anniversary. There were many pastries, cakes and cookies available, so it took a while to look at everything. We chose three croissants: raspberry, hazelnut/Nutella and almond; a pear tart; apple square; Dumas mini cake and Amelie Rose mini cake. The raspberry croissant was by far our favorite. It was flaky, with a chunky raspberry filling that was slightly tart. The almond croissant had very little almond paste and was disappointing. We were surprised the Nutella croissant lacked any flaky layers, tasted soft and bread-like, so it was our least favorite. Perhaps it was a bad batch or an off day. The apple square and pear tart were okay, but the custard Danish was quite good. The Dumas is a popular item, with dark chocolate mousse, combined with crispy nougatine and dacquoise. It was a decadent treat! While the Amelie Rose was beautiful decorated, it was in my opinion, average, and not worth the cost for just a few bites. It’s also unfortunate that we had to purchase six pastries, before they would provide a box. Otherwise, they use a paper bag. Note: street parking is available for a fee Almond Croissant - $3.45 Raspberry Croissant - $3.75 Nutella Croissant - $3.75 Apple Square- $3.25 Pear Tart - $6.25 Custard Danish - $3.25 Dumas Mini Cake - $7.50 Amelie Rose Mini Cake - $8.00
Our go to spot for pastries and birthday cakes. The Pear tart is very good. Their sandwiches for lunch are great too.
A small shop with 5-6 tables inside to eat, or you can eat outside if you choose to. Rahier serves high quality pastries, tarts and cakes. They also offer other items such as sandwiches, coffee and teas.
They have the best croissants, including their hazelnut variety, and I can’t get enough of their baguettes. We also bought one of their chocolate cakes for my birthday and it was divine!
The baked goods are truly five star! Lots of selection, lots available, have never been disappointed! Really great coffee too!
I really like the pastry here, and the cake is moist, flavour balanced, and really beautiful to look at.
Wonderful patisserie and I would highly recommend it. Staff are helpful & friendly and the pastries are delicious!
The cake was pretty good, creamy and light. It was a bit hard to find parking along the streets.
Personally I expect much better service in this neighborhood. Not even close to similar cafe' s in this area. It's normal here to order coffee for "here" and 4 cups of tea "to go" for later time when you gonna leave and all of a sudden receiving all together on your table! You either need to ignore your coffee and take the tea s' out or seat and enjoy your coffee in their ceramic mug and forget about 4 other fellaws who asked for tea!
Delicious! The place to go for patisseries in the city!
After I've been Rahier for a dozen of times, I went there today to try something new. You think a small business like Rahier will be warmly greeting the customer like many others. But that is not a case here today. While i was wearing a mask and standing over 8 feet apart from others to look up the display items. One of the lady cashier behind counter was talking loudly to me that I should stand back. I was trying to tell her that I was far away from others, but decided Not to waste my time and walked away. It is sad to see the owner is trying hard to build up the business, but their employees are hired to do the poor jobs.
Love this place !everything is very delicious !! My favorites at delicious coconut macaroons and quiche !! Amazing staff !! I work on that street and go there everyday to get my latte
My family ordered a sfoglia cake and it was one of the best that i've had in Toronto. Rahier's take on the cake was absolutely delicious and buttery! We even had Rahier pre-cut the slices (25 slice cake) which made life so much easier. Will definitely be ordering more treats from here in the future!
They might have the best pastries I've ever had. I also enjoy their cakes quite a bit.
The sandwich we had was yummy and the baguette was fresh and tasty. The quiche was also delicious, with flavorful veggies, creamy custard, crisp shell. The desserts were also wonderful, not too sweet nor heavy. Croissants clearly made with real ingredients. Despite being busy, the cafe sitting area was kept clean and tidy.
I had Rahier on my list to visit for some time and had the opportunity recently. I have mixed feelings on the visit. The items were good. The madeleine and cappuccino that I had were tasty but not the premium quality I expected given the reviews on G Maps. The pastry items (as agreed on by my friend) were good. However, the drinks are massively overrated. I would recommend passing on the cappuccino as it tastes flat and less quality than say a Sbucks cappuccino, which are standard comparison points. For a coconut filled pastry and my small cappuccino (small cup half full) I paid 7.56, for comparison. It's competitive for the area but the taste is only okay. I would recommend a visit if in the area but it is not a top selection for either french pastries or coffee drinks.
Very fresh and tasty products. But if you are looking for good coffee it's not a good choice
+ Delicious desserts, not too sweet, cute serving, nice little patio - need to come early because desserts are selling out quickly ( no selection after one pm)
One of the best bread and dessert shop in Toronto. Not heavy sweets and well-baked stuffs. So many choices.
I tried mr. bunny. Best cheesecake ever! ????
Incredibly overpriced. It's fine. But unremarkable. If you were buying it instead of Dufflet in a grocery store it would be an improvement, but it's not so much better that it's among the great pastry shops in the city. Especially at this pricepoint.
this is NOT a real French bakery, the recipes are not proper, also they serve baked goods that are not fresh! Do not take baguettes- you would be better of to pick up ACE bakery ???? One more thing: I had hair in my desert... Conclusion: there are better French bakeries in Toronto!
I find their pastries are good for people that prefer a lighter, crispy texture. There is another place just north that has a heavier, rich flavour.
Fantastic, top 5 bakery in the city grate staff ( delicious) ????????????
This is one of my favorite places for coffee and dessert. Their lattes to the point and desserts are made with love. I have enjoyed their opera cake, tart and millefeuille, but did not like their macaroons. I may go someday to give their savory pastries a try as well.
One of the top authentically French patisseries in Toronto. Their bread, pastries, and cakes are top-notch.
Excellent selection of french pastries and baked goods- baguettes and croissants are of note. Can also stop for a coffee here
I knew this place since last July. I tried several different tarts, cakes, cookies and desserts and all were really really great!!! All the girls there are very helpful and nice. It has been one of the very few bright spots during pandemic ????
Delicious pastries and decadent desserts! Good coffee
Not kid and mommy friendly place! My daughter and I were sitting to have some quality time with a friend and her daughter! They were both sitting and talking peacefully! Store manager came directly look into her eyes and asked my daughter if she knows her inner voice !?? And told her to be quite! My daughter was shocked with tears and I was shaking! Who are you to lecture my 3 years old!? We left the place and told her I will follow up with the owner! She didn’t even come after us to say sorry! The owner followed up with my husband but honestly not properly. I told the store manager I will make sure to tell everyone and that they lost one of their loyal clients. They didn’t seem to care. A very dry apology after multiple calls from me and my husband... My child keeps asking me about the incident and can’t stop thinking about it...
I just had your pastry for the first time and it was so delicious. It was amazing. great.
Best croissants in the city!
I placed a custom order for a dozen tarts and an individual cake for a birthday event. This place was a bit out of the way for me, but I decided to order anyway since it was for my friend’s birthday and it was her favourite dessert. As soon as I walked into the shop, one of the cashiers just looked at me without greeting me. Poor customer service already. I picked up my order and when I got home, the tarts were all flipped over and the icing was everywhere because they weren’t well-packed at all. You would think that a bakery would have tart separators in the boxes. On top of this, the individual cake I ordered wasn’t even in the box. I called the shop and they said they would refund my credit card after taking my information. But the person on the phone mentioned that if my refund doesn’t appear, I could “come into the shop to get the cash refund.” That was such an inconvenient solution. Thankfully, my credit card got refunded, but I will never return to this place.
Cute and cozy! Their pastries are always fresh and made with quality ingredients. The staff are always very nice too :)
Cake as good as usual. Love this place !! Double espresso are in a huge bowl... so cute !
I return here to grab macarons, they’re the best I’ve found in the city. So yummy. My favourite flavours are vanilla and pistachio. Only thing is I wish they were closer or in another neighbourhood, but watcha gonna do about that
Superb fruit tarte. Innovative chocolate
It certainly is a cute coffee shop. I've just been disappointed by a few things over my last visits. The little tags with the name of the pastries had spelling mistakes on them. I went back yesterday and there's no tag at all now. It's kind of frustrating not to know the price of what you are getting. Some imported things are good, but some others are overpriced. They have some Leader Price products, which is the lowest quality stuff in Europe, that they sell for an arm and a leg here. The waitresses always look annoyed to help you, especially when you ask for different things. Maybe you should put up prices and names on your products and it would make your job easier? And finally, no one is ever able to help you in French, which is really too bad for a place that is supposed to be French..
Excellent local pastry shop. It's a toss up between Dumas and Voltaire!
I decided to go here because I couldn’t go downtown for dessert with covid. This is my second time in years and it’s a 30 min walk. The young girl was super duper nice, friendly and helpful! She gave me suggestions and her customer service skills were impeccable! I got the raspberry chocolate mousse cake. It was tasty and nicely decorated presentation. My eyesight is poor and sometimes I’m oblivious to signage even if it’s in front of me so I didn’t see their signs or arrows hiding around their products until after I paid and I realized that’s why people keep asking if they can pickup and going around. ????
I visit this place often for their multigrain bread. Affordable and tastier than the grocery store. Be aware that you will be tempted to buy a pastry because everything look so good.
I ordered a cake today and the tased is amazing. The cake itself is just so pretty and inside you can taste so many different layers of flavors
Amazing patisserie in midtown toronto! Great cakes and pastries. Details of everything were so amazing! Loved the mille feuille as the cream and pastry were amazingly fresh and light! Nice cozy feel to the place and everything tasted awesome! Fresh and tart stendhal to that slightly sweet fig tart! Felt attended to at all times and not rushed as I took many looks over at the pastries, including a few looks at the walls of cookies! felt so comfortable in here! Great job! Keep up the awesome vibe! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for more amazing pics and content!
The pastries , each and every one of them are exquisite. Miraculously, they taste as good as they look.
Impressive display of modern pastries but wasn't happy with the service. Ordered a gâteau basque which was hollow inside. Very dissapointing. Asked for 2 iced coffees: 1 with sugar and 1 without. The server gave us both with sugar. The almond croissants could have been better. Would have loved if they had an option to warm it up but the servers didnt seem to care much so didnt want to bother them. Also bought the Feuille d'Automne which was a pleasant surprise after a series of dissapointment.
I had the chocolate mousse I believe you call it "Degas" Very smooth and good quality chocolate BUT too sweet. The sugar is too predominant.
The food is amazing and the staff is so.pleasant. it is a lovely place to sit down with a pastry and a coffee or tomtake.home.a delicious quiche and desserts that are out of this world
Yummy Rum and almond croissants. Good service . Lovely ambiance. Friendly people. Almost everything is sold out by 11am so if you really want something call ahead and place an order.
I have a question... Has Rahier changed owners? I have lived 20 years close by and I think the taste of things has changed (not for the better). Does anyone know?
Just ordered 4 dozen assorted mini pastries. They are delicious and beautiful. Their macarons are outstanding. Staff is friendly and efficient.
The pastries and cakes at Rahier are amazing. They figured out the perfect balance of richness and sweet. Not too sweet which is perfect. Highly recommended.
Mother's Day Cake was absurdly good. Macarons were amazing and the pastries were perfection. Really really good first impressions!
My favourite place for cakes and pastries in Toronto! Prices are very reasonable. Their cakes are absolutely delicious.
I have been getting their pastries for many years now. The quality has never changed and the options are great. The Dumas cake is wonderful.
This bakery is just wonderful.
Wow. I walked in on Christmas morning to pick up a cake for my family dinner and was severely disappointed. This was clearly old stock from like a week ago..... Absolutely horrible that they would sell dried old cakes. POMPADOUR CAKE - As you can see in the photo, the "Pompadour" cake is suuuuper dry and to top it off it has an off-putting "fridge" taste. The description states it's supposed to taste like pistachio and hazelnut but they clearly cheaped out on ingredients as it only tastes like sugary buttercream. This was absolutely disappointing as I've had their Dumas cake and loved it, but this fell so, so short. SANTA HAT - This cake was not what I expected and flavors fell short. It looks super cute and festive but again all sugar and no chocolate taste. The cake crumble inside was also dry. Extremely disappointing. Overall: Paid $43 for dry, flavorless, overly sweet cakes. Beyond disappointed that they'd try to scam customers this way by selling them old stock..
Actually not bad at all. I tried their Dumas cake, which was a little too sweet but had texture and a good chocolate and hazelnut taste (almost 7$). Compared to Jules Café and Thobors (Mount Pleasant street), I find Rahier closer to what we can actually find in France. It is quite expensive though. I did not really enjoyed the white glossy counter look (like David's tea style), this makes it too shallow but I am guessing it attracts this kind of people, you know the ones who think it is fancy to eat French style pastry. Anyway... I recommend this place.
Croissants are always so fresh and tasty. Love love love this place
Very high end French patisserie. ????
The frozen bake at home croissants are fantastic for weekend brunch at home. I also used their all butter frozen puff pastry for some Christmas baking and jt was excellent as well. The bread was good but a small loaf for the price!
Fantastic cake and service. Very friendly, relaxed environment. 5 stars
Croissants (plain and almond) are really good but in NO WAY worth 3 of Timmy's croissants. Not even close. 3 bucks is a little high. If Timmy's were to get a c+, this place would be a b+, maybe a- for the almond one. Don't worry about coming in so f'n early just for these. Also, they could've served it with some fresh cream (a la Inglorious Basterds) but the female worker looked at me like I was asking her for moon rocks. The French macarons are AMAZING. These are the real jewels in this place. If I gave Fortino's d+ for their macaron, this place would get an a++. I was just telling my gf that these would be amazing at a dessert table for a wedding. Your guests would be WOWED. Pay by weight but they work out to about 1.50 each so actually cheaper than some of the other places in town. Seriously, the macarons are THAT good. Now I'm thinking about eating one. Damn it! Going south-bound on Bayview, it'll be on your right hand side.
