I find that they have very convenient hours, available for pick-up of pastries for morning meetings. I enjoy their danishes and chocolate croissants. Worth noting that the croissants generally are heavy and less flakey but have a great flavour that goes nicely with a good jam. Recently discovered that they have Jamaican patties too, which are always a nice snack.

This place is such a hidden gem. I go for a weekly challah loaf and they have a fun selection of sweets. It's a simple little shop! They only take cash or debit though.

One of the best eclairs I've ever had. It took me back to when I was a kid. It's really hard to find good eclairs and this place definitely has some of the best ones. The Spinach and Feta Croissant was also pretty amazing. I'll be definitely coming back here.

We finally stopped in with my husband while on our walk, luckily my husband had taken some money with him. The service was friendly & social distance was observed. We purchased chocolate croissants absolutely the best I have had out side Paris France. Light buttery with just the right amount of chocolate not to sweet. I also got an eclair was filled with pastry cream, it was wonderful too. I love french pastries having grown up in Montreal & find it hard to find a shop that uses great ingredients & has the skill. While this was my 1st time it will not be my last worth the walk. A local gem ????

I went there two days ago, and prior to that I went 1 year ago. Both times the same rude lady was there, I believe she was the owner. On the first visit, she basically started screaming at me because I asked her for the receipt. Her husband had to come out and calm her down and apologize to me. The second time, she literally walked away while I was still talking. I was asking her if the bread was baked in the morning. She took that personally and then literally threw the receipt on the counter while running to the back. I understand people are stressed out because of Covid, but this is very unprofessional behavior.

Horrible attitude. I asked about the ingredients of veg roti and the owner lady said it is a secret recipe! I said I dont care about the recipe but want to know what spices are in it but she implied that I was trying to snoop!!! ROTI was stale but she blamed me for having a mindset and said not to come back to the store. Her daughter was even more "helpful" by asking if she can help by throwing it in the garbage.!! $3 for waste of time and energy. That lady should not even be allowed to conduct business.

When they asked me what I wanted I said something delicious. What was suggested to me was perhaps the most delicious dessert ever created on this planet. If there is a nobel prize for baking they must have it already. It was a warm cheese danish fresh out of the oven. Perfectly savory and sprinkled sweet. I may not have to eat again. I can still feel the warm dough and delicate cheese and sweet highlights. If there was a baking shop in heaven it would have this danish on the top shelf. The only thing I would do differently next time is buy all of them and change people's dietary lives as I met them.

This is a regular stop on my way to/ from work! Their croissants and pastries are to die for, and their egg bread is top notch! If you like spicy Asian food, try the Sri Lankan rotis they keep behind the counter. Always friendly staff!

THE GOODS: The baked goods here are divine! The veggie roti is quite delicious as well. It's usually on the back counter, so you have to ask for it. Almost everything is freshly baked, daily. Very large variety of baked goods; from breads to pies to meringues to cookies. The prices are very reasonable for what you're getting! THE LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY: Contrary to the name, this place is not a cafe. It's a walk-in bakery. It's very narrow and unassuming. If you're not paying attention, you will miss it, walking by (I know I have, the first few times I walked past)! The interior can really only accommodate one person in width, so patience is required. It is not wheelchair accessible. The debit/ credit machine is located behind the displays, so you'll have to let the sales person know so they can prep the machine for your use. Generally, it's not very busy, no matter what time of day you go in. The store is close to the bus route, as well, should you not be a local. THE STAFF: This place is family owned; friendly. One associate is a little shy (I presume she's the child of the owners). The proprietors are people of few words but are very nice, considerate and patient (especially if you have a hard time choosing between delicious treats!)

This is an amazing little bakery. Every time I take a bite of their croissants it takes me back to France. Everything they have in there is great. I recently moved to Cabbagetown and this is the best thing I discovered so far. It’s a family business where the owner has had baking experience in France and Montreal. Would highly recommend! I usually bring the baked goods home and pop them in the oven for a few minutes before enjoying ????

I literally dream about their cinnamon croissants they are that good! Also the prices are insanely reasonable. Absolute bakery is truly a hidden gem! One of the best bakeries in the city; the quality of their desserts are exceptional. I have no clue what their secret is but it is working! They have everything: pies, cakes, cookies, bread, pretzels, strudels all the way to Sri Lankan rolls. The owner is very nice and prices are reasonable too. Give them a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.

to the person who reported "The staff is absolutely unfriendly" when you asked for cupcakes, do ya think, given this family is I believe Sri Lankan, there might have been a language barrier or cultural difference at play? I agree that the staff here is not terribly chatty. But then I don't go there for conversation. I go for a vast variety of well prepared baked goods at prices a fraction of the swankier patisserie in town. We usually grab their day old bargain bags (usually 3-4 pastries for about $2.50 a bag.) which once reheated are 95% revived. They used to be way cheaper and so if there is an item you especially want (my partner wants the cinnamon units which rately fall into the bargain bags) you might want to just buy the fresh stock. They are still cheap.

I always wanted to try their almond twist and finally got some pastries from this amazing bakery!!!!! I got almost twist, chicken roti, cream cheese, and poppy seed. Chicken roti was okay, but other sweet pastries were really really good!!! I’ll come back to try new sweet pastries for sure. Tried new thing* Omg. Everyone has to try this eclair….it was heavy with so much cream inside and the cream had just right sweetness…

Such delicious cinnamon buns and overall pastries. But the reason I keep coming back is the roti. They have chicken and vegetable and they're less then 4 bucks each. Potentially the best thing to eat for under 5 dollars. It's also always quick service and a super clean area.

I came in once to order a strudel of some kind, and the proprietor assertively told me that it was actually not what I wanted, and that I should buy a different type. Frankly, I admire that kind of take-charge attitude. The customer isn't always right. The poppyseed pastries he foisted on me were delicious, and I'm glad I was forced to buy them. Came here today as I had never stopped by before but I had heard great things. Got a chicken roti wrap for about $4 taxes included. It was still warm when I got home and had my first bite. The curry filling had so much delicious flavour and was perfectly spiced. Amazing value, and I’ll be coming back for that and to try the croissants and other delicious looking pastries and danishes.

Consistently fresh, always delicious, such a beautiful selection and the staff are always so friendly. Cute place to go for a treat for your partner, or a great way to celebrate your fellow employees. Most importantly, Treat yourself! honestly super disappointed because i was dying to try this place after seeing all the reviews and treats in the windows.. i bought one pastry and it was burnt to a crisp. i’m currently attempting to eat it as i write and it tastes like a medley of berries and tar

I had the spinach and feta opened face pastry , it is very very good . A traditional spinach and feta pastry usually comes off as a bit flat tasting to me. This pastry has amazing flavor, I think this version has a tiny bit of dill in it . This adds a whole other flavor dimension, really very very good.

Although I love their productions very much, I don't like to go there any more because most of the times she is angry with the customers...Last month I only asked if the Danish are fresh, she shouted me to get lost from the bakery and never go there again....

A friend went to buy some bread and bought a loaf of day old for a homeless person sitting outside. After he gave it, they realized it had mould on in. He tried to return it but couldnt and the person at the bakery was very rude and yelled to speak to him outside. Will not be going there!

2nd Edit: Had to edit my review, again, as we've gone back a few times since my last review and have been disappointed. The Palmier cookie was over-baked and over-carmelized, on 3 separate occasions. My husband said the chocolate croissant was not fresh and tasted "day old" as did the almond croissant. Edited: Needed bread and bought the multi grain loaf. It was amazing. Flavourful and just perfect. What a great little bakery! I went in with low hopes of the bakery having anything for me to eat, as I follow a whole food plant based diet. I was pleasantly surprised to find onion and potato Roti squares; the squares were stuffed with a very flavorful mashed potato mixed with caramelized onions, and fennel seed filling; they were tasty! What I was impressed with was the Roti, although, not a Roti skin I've ever had, you could tell it was homemade and it was tasty and had a great texture. They, also, had the most delicious palm cookie I have ever had and it was huge! It was thick and flaky and perfectly sugared and buttery, although, vegan! In addition to the Roti and palmier cookie, they also sell apple turnovers that are also, vegan...they looked delicious and they were, also, huge! My husband had a cheddar cheese croissant that he said was fresh and warm, buttery and flaky and filled with the perfect amount of cheddar cheese. We, also, purchased a couple of loaves of French bread...WOW, they are beautiful! They smell great, they are super crusty and light as a feather; the sign of really well made bread. If it is crusty, light and sounds hollow when you knock on the bottom of it, you know it's going to be good! Their products are delicious and of high quality as was the customer service; the ladies were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable of the product. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

I am bit upset on the quality of the "Black Forest" cake which I purchased on Friday,27-Aug evening. The day I purchased the taste was bit different than usual as we are a regular customer to this bakery. Today, after 2 days, Monday morning, when we took the cake from the refrigerator to have a bit, I see there is a Fungus mold built in it. We are bit worried that we've provided this cake to my 2.5 years old toddler & my infant yesterday and day before yesterday. Sorry guys, you've to make sure that quality and expiry date has to be maintained on this bakery items as I don't see it on it.

We were looking for a good bakery to buy some fresh croissants from, and this place had great reviews so we went there and ordered a variety of baked goods. The croissants did not disappoint; they tasted fantastic, with crispy shells and buttery and soft inside. The butterfly cookies were crunchy and had just the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate croissant was good as well, though the tiny amount of chocolate filling inside it was disappointing. The quiche was bland and it had too much spinach; I wish it had other, sweeter vegetables such as onion and garlic to offset the richness from the cream added to the quiche. It could have also used some black pepper and more salt. The poppyseed danish was not good at all, and this was the danish that one of the employees recommended when we asked; the savouriness of the poppyseed did not go well at all with the excessive sweetness, as there was nothing that bridged the two totally different flavors. I am not sure why the employee there recommended this; after being disappointed with the poppyseed danish, I read some of the reviews and it looks like the more popular recommendation would have been the cheese Danish. If they want repeat visits from their new customers, they should not be recommending their less popular products. With that said, I would go back to Absolute Bakery as the croissants and the butterfly cookies were excellent. The prices of the pastries there are also great, it is definitely one of the more affordable bakeries I've been to.

Absolute Bakery makes terrific challah. And the croissants are great; I usually get an assortment of plain, chocolate, and almond to satisfy everyone. For the non-croissant eater, I get a chocolate danish, yum. I've been going there for years and am never disappointed. Service is always freindly. We're lucky to have such a nice bakery in the neighbourhood.

Wow! We live at regent park and have been going to Le Beau but this is my new spot for croissant and bakeries! Super low key from the outside but smells amazing once you walk in. Everything looks super tasty and people are so nice! The owner saw that it’s our first time, he gave us a cheese danish for free with our purchase and it was so good! Cant wait to try all the other items. They only take visa and debit card, not MasterCard or Amex, so plan accordingly.

Exceptional quality and variety: pies, giant merengues, danish, croissants, brownies, giant rum balls, bread, savouries... I chose an almond jam twist since I'd never had one before. It still tasted amazing the next day (it was so good I made myself enjoy it over 2 days). The croissant was the best I can remember having. The peach custard pie is presented beautifully in a tart rather than pastry shell and was purchased as a gift. Large quantities and varieties mean I'll go back and not worry about leaving empty handed. Extremely pleasant baker and assistant. I'll return here and instead of Pussateris (where the desserts taste just OK).

"Nostalgia to go." Being from France and having tasted quality patisseries from Lille to Lyon to Montpellier, I immediately smelled and saw the authentic and genuine products in Absolute Café. The palmiers in the window caught my attention as they are caramelised to perfection. I have never tasted a better chocolate croissant, it moved me. Great little bakery, the croissants are to die for. Very light and fluffy. Nice and buttery. When I'm in the area, I like to a buy a few for the week and heat them in a frying pan on low heat. Makes it oven fresh. No butter needed to reheat. Pricing is fair. True gem. I think this bakery is superior for the area. This place would definitely be killer around bay st, queen st , yorkville or the church strip. Hoping they open more locations in the future.

I was considering not writing a review in case the line ups started getting too long. The croissants explode in a shower of flakes. The apple turnover, although it's made with apples in a pail is sweet and crunchy at the edges and well, you get the idea. Loaf breads a bit conventional but the pies and cakes look fabulous. Haven't tried those yet.

First and last time here Horrible service, we walked in and the girl behind the counter wouldn’t even tell us the price for anything. There were flies on the food and when I asked her to separate the payment methods she ignored me. The male owner then started screaming at another customer and we decided we had enough and we needed to leave. The owners then proceeded called us sick in the head and told me to never return and even cursed at me!!! Why is this place open?!??

Bought 2 croissants today. I asked to the lady if they have fresh one, she said; they have fresh ones that just came out from oven and still hot. It was hot but was not the newly made fresh. It was old one, they just put it in the oven to make it refresh (re heated). As it was morning 10:30 am I was expecting, it would be newly made fresh and warm but it was re heated to make it fresh, which is basically old as it was very crunchy; dry and they just wanted to make people confuse. The newly made croissants are never crunchy; dry, they are always soft. Honesty is the best policy for sustainability . I still want to give 3 stars as I know; this is their family business but i certainly give them 5 stars in future, if they will not repeat, what they did today.

I have been to this bakery more than five times. And I loved their beef patties, brownies and their danish custard. But this time, I was very very disappointed, the outer crust was very hard and chewy. I got white chocolate chip cookies which was extremely hard and smelled very badly. But when I told about the cookies they said I can get some other thing instead which was good. And later when I had the danish custard it had the same problem too. Very disappointed. :(

Got a loaf of bread. It was dense, chewy and delicious. Also picked up rhubarb crumble pie (sold by the slice) Could taste the ingredients and the crust was not too dense but also delicious. Quality ingredients used.
