I visited Norman Sue today for pine tarts that I had been craving for a long time. I haven’t been in years so decided to visit and purchase some items. When I asked the young man if they had fresh pine tarts, he replied yes, I was like great I would like 6. When he went to the back and came out with a prepackaged set of 6 pine tarts, I again asked, when did these came out of the oven, he said this morning. He lied, the pine tarts were old and stale and crumbled when I took a bite. I know times are hard with COVID however selling old food and passing it off as fresh is problematic and concerning. Will not return! Date of visit: February 17, 2021

such a diamond in the rough. A little unassuming place for n the back of a commercial plaza but the Guyanese treats and eats are far above and beyond typical food like this from other similar places. been around since '88. there's a reason this place is an institution in the Scarborough area gladly distribute all over the city to various vendors. walk in a try it! The tartlets patties chicken or beef are among my faves.

"duh nuh oil roti" all I can say.

Valerie Williamson

Great tasting patties and riti shells. Great value

Getting fresh bread right off the oven is amazing. Love this place. The young man cashing you out just count the prices off his head and charge you. Please be a bit more transparent on that. Other than that no complaints.

Victoria Genge

I got Chicken Pies, black pudding and Salt fish and bake. Chicken pies are great. Salt fish and bake is a real disappointment. Black pudding are the worst I've ever had.

I was recommended by a co-worker about this place. I've been coming for months now mainly for the bake and salt fish which is really good. Even though they recently raised the price I still came. Today I came in and also bought a package of the beef patties. I was so disappointed to find a long grey hair in it. I obviously got turned off and threw the whole case out. You would think during Covid there would be cleaner protocols for the preparation of food. I was so disappointed because the people are always very friendly there.

Cita Defreitas

Having not bought any products from this establishment for a many years, stopped in recently and was very disappointed with the baked products. It was quite a shock to discover that the current roll filling was mixed with raisins. The pine tarts were mainly a very thick tasteless pastry and little or no filling. The beef patties were bread crumbs mixed with the meat, which made it a 'paste'. I had to throw everything out, as I couldn't bear to share them with anyone. I will, therefore , continue to support Narine's Bakery, as the quality is far superior.

Lauretta Hermanstyne

Disgusting!!!! Today I went to Norman Sue Bakery, I can clearly see a group of women sitting around making a pastries or roti, one woman was eating cheese puffs and drinking Tim Hortons coffee while handing the dough. She would take a bite, handle the dough, take a bite again etc etc. This is terrible, her saliva can get into the food, this is a health issues, especially if she has COVID or some other disease. No gloves or mask. I told the cashier I don’t get how she can be eating and preparing the food at the same time - the cashier responded saying the worker is “multitasking”. The owner should take this seriously, workers should not be eating and preparing food!! I’m so disappointed because I really enjoy their products and thought they were a reputable company and I hope they clean up their act so I can go back there.

The employees here are very rude. Their prices aren’t posted anywhere, so you have no idea if you’re being jibbed after they silently add up your bill. They also tuck in a service charge for using Debit. They skip past the screen where the debit charge appears, and then they hand you the terminal. The charge just shows up on your debit receipt. If you pay cash they don’t even give you a receipt unless you ask, and it’s hand written with no details, just a total. (Hey CRA, this place seem to be collecting HST on cash sales of prepared foods. And I’m sure that every cent of HST us consumers are paying is going right to you guys!) If there was another Bakery in the area, I would go there instead.

Do not do business with these people. Uhaul had me return a truck to them and they claimed I returned it with low fuel and tried to scam me out of $90. Thankfully I documented the entire truck, including pics of the fuel guage when I returned it and they will not be getting away with it.
