Stopped in quick to pick up a couple coffees to go...enjoyable americano. ???? It was incredibly hot water used which in this instance was great because I was heading to the other side of the city. Parking was tight but available...treats looked amazing, almost tempted into grabbing one of the Mexican hot chocolate cookies but resisted.

One of my absolute favorite coffee shops in the city! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and one of the only places in the city that uses carrageenan free, no sugar added almond milk (this is not easy to find now days it seems). And the absolute best gluten free scones!! Gluten free wraps are also to die for. This local gem offers more than just good coffee! We are lucky to have Citizen Cafe in Saskatoon.

The food is great, the drinks are great and the owners are lovely. That being said, unfortunately the staff are consistently unfriendly and sometimes even rude. There is never a smile, never any sort of effort to engage and no signs that they actually give a care about being there and providing the service. I work close by and have been there multiple times but today was my last visit. I hate to post a negative review but I waited for a nice experience that never came.

Sandwiches are very delicious but my experience wasn’t top notch.. there seems to be some sort of lack of organization between the staff and operation. As my friend and I were waiting for our food to be made, someone came in with a pickup order, which she had to wait another five minutes and had to remind the staff what she order and then had to remind them about the baked goods she wanted as well. Between that and the person sitting at the table nearest to us having her salad served without the dressing it just seemed off. Wouldn’t be my first choice to return again.

Staff is awesome! I was down cause my dog just passed away after getting hit by a drunk driver but once I walked into citizen I was greeted with a smile and hearty hello. I told them my story and they shared in kind. With my spirits lifted I went to the shelter and adopted a new dog, named him Citizen Cain. I had the organic fair trade coffee and the hunter sandwich. It was so delicious. I come every Tuesday now in remembrance of Tugger.

An amazing place for vegan lunches, desserts, and coffee! I’ve been coming here to have the Frida Kahlo latte for years and it is by far the best coffee I’ve ever had. They have really fast local delivery during COVID as well, so it’s easy to support a lovely local business.

Dissapointed.. just under $6 for a cup of soup, which tastes like water. I asked for crackers and they don't have them for their soup...? I was looking forward to my 1st experience here! As I always pick up soup/ sandwich for lunch from different places in the city.. Unfortunately this cafe is the last on my list now..

The food is bland and very much so tastes freezer burned and not homemade. Coffee is straight up bad, and lukewarm, and wait times, even when the cafe is empty, are way too long. I blame management/owners for having poor supplies. Staff are polite and friendly!

Pleasant assortment of food that includes gluten free and vegan. Wide range of tea selection as well which is hard to come by. The coffee is as you would expect with nice latte art. The soft music and darker lighting gives the place a chill vibe. Only downsides are that it's a tad far from city center and the parking lot is really small and hard to get in and out of. I've also had my order get forgotten once, however, I'm not exactly sure how often it happens. Overall a nice quiet place to sit down with a hot drink.

Citizen is a wonderful LOCAL café. It has been one of my favorites for many years (since they opened in fact!), I love that they offer Vegan goodies and food (get the poptart! YOU WONT REGRET IT). The Diego Rivera Latte made dairy free is a fave, and they have a brew coffee that will make your tastebuds dance with how much flavor it has. Everyone is friendly and the owner is a gem as well! Support LOCAL businesses like these, not only do you help your community, but you find GEMS like this café!

Reviews regarding friendly staff are absolutely correct. We ordered two of the vegetarian sandwiches which were of good quality however our vegan soup and salad which we did specifically order "make it vegan" came with feta cheese. We drove-in from out of town, went straight for pickup and then drove away. I called back once we noticed, staff did apologize however did not offer a replacement or refund. We were tired from traveling and not worth driving back to return the meal.

I am from out of town and travel all over for work. I have been to this awesome place twice in a week. The vibe is great and there is lots of space to work, chat and chill. The staff have always been very pleasant and the food/drinks are good quality and well priced. I took away two stars for an issue that is unfortunately still prevalent in certain cities. The POS is not TAP which is a Public Health issue. Virtually every person consumes something they purchased. Any place that serves food should have tap so everyone does not share their germs (think gas pump) handling a machine when tap is old technology. I brought this up and the employee said I could wash my hands before I eat my sandwich. This is true, but imagine everyone did this? The washrooms would be slammed and everyone would be forced to go into a washroom prior to eating. Also, this would consume tons of water! This place is great and I will keep going, but please for Hygienic purposes, get tap (especially with all fear of a Pandemic) and I will remove this and leave 5 stars. And all of my follow people, let's push for tap at all food service establishments to help stop the spread of...

Went to the cafe about a month ago and haven't gone back. Busy Sunday afternoon and witnessed an employee [ginger hair] berate another staff [black long hair/glasses]. Couldn't believe how inappropriate it was to treat someone like that in front of customers. I understand that busy rush hours can be stressful but did not see why being rude was an answer. The black haired young lady was very nice and apologetic when she brought my order, as it was a long waiting time. It being loud from the rush and wearing masks, I can understand that it was hard to hear. Have not seen her since. Food was okay. Can not believe this local business treats their own employees like that. I would pay not to go there.

I went to Citizen Cafe for the first time and I can't believe I haven't gone sooner! I ordered the Cubano latte and it's hands down the BEST latte I've ever had! I eat gluten free and I really love the food and coffee at Citizen even though it's a bit pricey. But the service is so bad that I've decided I won't be going any more. The girls never smile or make you feel welcome, they greet you with a rude blank stare. You feel like you're inconveniencing them by ordering their food. The staff needs a lesson is customer service. Too bad, it'd be a great place otherwise.

Sat in for some food and noticed that my metal straw for my iced latte had debris inside. I got food to go and watched staff make the food without gloves on. It was appalling. Food safety handling should be strongly considered, especially during these covid times. I ended up not eating it. I would be wary of the food you order from here - you don't know how they handle it properly behind the counter.

First visit in quite a while today, but just as amazing as any food i have previously tried. Had a sweet potato and apple soup, alongside whichever sandwich is similar to a beef dip (the name is escaping me at the moment). The soup was delicious, but the sandwich knocked it out of the park for me!! Brioche buns are always a win! Soft, fresh... awesome! Our food was served very quickly as well.

I used to really love this place but my last experience was very disappointing. So I visited a few days ago when the weather was in the single digits, perfect time for a latte right? Not so much. I opened the door with my girlfriend to go inside and we were immediately told to leave and use the walk-thru. I went to the window and they only had a very small menu to order from which and a majority of the lattes displayed had cayenne pepper in them. Sorry but that does not sound appealing at all to me. I know there is more to their menu but there was no way to look at it. The reason why i was so disappointed is because it's cold out and I would like to sit down in a warm building and drink my latte, not somewhere else or in my vehicle. That kind of really ruins the experience I thought this establishment would be trying to offer. The last disappointing thing was this was my girlfriends first experience here and needless to say she was beyond disappointed and was wondering why I talked so highly of the place. So when winter comes to do expect people to sit outside and order their coffee as well?

I love that they have an online ordering system and you can go pick up without having to go inside. And they text you when it's good for pickup. I think during these times, those options really do matter. A bit of higher price, they do offer GF and vegetarian items, which is nice considering there's only a handful of cafe that are GF-friendly. Delicious café and bakery! There are so many vegan options for desserts and they all taste fantastic--especially the poptart! They also serve savoury foods and meals. The coffee is phenominal and you can even get kombucha!

Citizen Cafe & Bakery has a very plain decor and challenging parking. However, it more than makes up for it with its interesting and delicious food, plus its amazing coffees. They offer several gluten free options and happily substitute ingredients in their coffees. One caveat, don’t let the simple decor fool you. It’s not cheap to eat there.
