I would recommend "BestCakes" by Igor for custom order cakes for any occasion. Igor was welcoming and talked us through on how he would get our custom order done with the sample picture we provided for the Birthday Cake. We were provided with a sample right then and there for the cupcakes. Quality products were used which did taste superior to others we have tried. Final products were lovely and not to mention, very delicious. Igor made it just as we requested to match Birthday theme. Our guests talked highly of the Birthday cake and the cupcakes. It was noticeable that it wasn't too sugary but was sweet for the right amount, even for the frosting which made the experience greatly delightful. I would definitely order from BestCakes by Igor again in the future and highly recommend that you pay him a visit; you won't be disappointed.

Placed an online order for a simple whoopee cushion cake. Paid $105 in advance and called the next day to confirm they received the request as they did not send confirmation. The owner said he received it but that he needed more money ($57 more actually) as the cake I wanted was more expensive than what their website indicated. That’s fine and I sent the money right away even though $162 for a simple 8 inch cake is a lot of money, ($25 for a delivery fee and $137 for the cake) I had requested marble cake which they were out of, so we agreed to take Black Forest, which was the only flavor they had. I sent a picture of the cake I wanted and assumed that I would receive that cake. When the cake arrived I was surprised to see it was not the cake I had ordered. Instead of making the traditional pink whoopee cushion with the black lettering as pictured, he made a dark brown cake that in my opinion does not resemble what it is supposed to. When I messaged the owner about this he replied by stating that he didn’t know it was supposed to be pink and told me he made it exactly like the picture. I didn’t realize I had to specify it should be pink when it is clearly supposed to be a whoopee cushion and I sent a picture ahead of time. When a customer pays you $162 to make a product then you make the product how the customer wants, and if you fail to provide what was paid for then you rectify it by offering a partial refund or credit on a future order. You don’t argue with the customer and defend a product that clearly wasn’t as it should have been. Had the owner not tried to justify this poorly made cake then I would have never posted a negative review and probably would give them another chance for future orders, but because of the lack of acknowledgement that he messed up the order I definitely won’t be back. Gave 2 stars because the taste was fine even though chunks of the filling was frozen. Edit: reply to the owner. You can’t honestly tell me that the cake you provided me comes close to that picture. I have posted both photos and you can clearly see it is not the same cake. You not only failed on the color but also the overall design. Your cake is crimped along the bottom whereas the other is crimped in the middle like it should be. Have you never seen a whoopee cushion before? How can you defend such a poor design?

We ordered a cake and cupcakes. It was severely disappointing. I would definitely trust all the reviews saying the cakes are stale. It was very expensive for someone else to make a box cake recipe, freeze the cake/cupcakes, and use cool whip as a base to the icing.

Terrible. Our cake fell apart and collapsed in on itself. Decorations peeled off and cake looked terrible. When we called to ask for our money back or at least a discount we were told they could replace it with a frozen basic chocolate cake and would not be refunding us anything. Paid full price for a custom professional cake and got a sad looking, dry bland tasting, expensive mess.

very nice place to get customized cakes. we are from vancouver, but we were in saskatoon for my nephew's birth. we ordered and finalized the cake to welcome the new born baby, over the call on 25th october and got it delivered too within couple of hours.To our surprise, cake was so good, delicious and not to forget amazing in looks. My whole family just loved it. This guy is so friendly and takes care of everything you need with cake and in the cake..Best regards :)

we palced order almost one month ahead and No idea why we paid 110$ for this cake which was very dry and also the decorations not even close to the one we needed. the color theme were off the mark. happy birthday written in dark green behind dark blue background which no one can see. the age no 1 is so small and didnt even look like one. the fondont was was having cracks and it was so thick couldnt cut through the cake. over all it looks like some kid put this cake together and definitely not worth the money. I regret placing an order here.

We placed order almost one month ahead and we paid 340+ dollars for the cake and cupcakes which was very dry and during the event something wet in the cake and the design on there cupcakes are falling also the decorations not even close to the one we needed. my son name written in dark behind the checkered background which no one can see. the age no 1 is so small and instead banner they put on the cake for design they only put ribbon and the fondant was falling and having cracks looks like they bake it rush. definitely not worth the money. I regret placing an order here. They ruin my son 1st birthday cake!!!

Igor made it easy for me to order the cake, design it the way I wanted it done, including making the custom jersey with the name and number, the flavour of cake, and everything including allowing him to pick it up from the store. They gave our cake to someone else after giving them a full two days to prepare it. They then delivered a frozen solid cake that we could not eat for over an hour. No offer of any money back nor our tip we stupidly gave before we got the service. Would not recommend.

Absolutely loved the cupcakes. We moved to Saskatoon about 14months ago from New Zealand and found out that the cakes and cupcakes here are overpriced and not really worth the money charged for. Found out about Bestcakes via Google and though the recent reviews were not very great I just felt like giving it a try for my Husband's birthday. So I ordered customized Raspberry cupcakes and decided to have it delivered at my hubby's workplace as a surprise. Igor did an amazing job with the cupcakes. Hubby and his co-workers loved the presentation and cupcakes were fresh and so very delicious. Everyone loved them so much so that it was all gone within 30secs and am not exaggerating ☺️ Overall great experience ordering from Igor, good quality, great taste and timely delivery. Just felt that $25 for delivery within Saskatoon was a bit too much but eventually it was all worth it. Thank you Igor we are definitely coming back for more ????

To start with you do not get what you paid for, was discussed would have edible roses and donuts but was not added. Instead had Rock hard freezer burn macaroons that crumbled and bubble gum balls. And the inside of the cake was frozen fruit and tasted like jar jam filling instead of fresh fruit. Paied 100% in advance instead the stated 50% was a bit turn off. Overall I was very disappointed and felt very ripped off for the price I paied.

The owner is nice enough and the taste of the cake was okay. However, he did not follow direction as to what I asked for. For the cake, he was supposed to incorporate 70th Birthday and I asked for NO fondant. The cake didn’t display anything about a 70th birthday or a birthday in general. It also came covered in fondant. Everyone at the party was very disappointed and didn’t enjoy it. I also asked for 6 cupcakes that was for a 2yr old male bday and to make it fun. There were no fun colours and the topper was a sesame seed wafer that the smaller kids couldn’t even eat. We were all very let down since we were expecting a beautiful 70th bday cake and 2nd bday cupcakes. Will not come here again.

Ordered a carrot cake with minimal decorating requested. The cake was so dry it crumbled when cut. The icing was horrible tasting. Who makes carrot cake without cream cheese frosting ???? For the cost of this cake, a Safeway purchased carrot cake would have tasted 10 times better at a fraction of the cost. Not recommended !!

I called on a STAT holiday hoping they would be open and willing to deliver some treats as a birthday gift to two relatives. Igor was extremely accommodating, helped me make sure the gift was going to beautifully packaged and offered to include a note for me, and I was able to pay over the phone. The delivery was very prompt, exactly when he said it would be. I don't live locally, so I really appreciated Igor taking the time to help me make some COVID birthdays more special. I can't speak to the quality of the product, but the reviews for macrons were positive so I felt confident ordering. Thank you, Igor!

Ordered a palm tree cake for my wife’s birthday, came out to over $150. Needless to say I was severely underwhelmed by the appearance of the cake. A small round cake with wavy blue icing on one side and sand coloured sprinkling on the other. Does not appear professional, I do not even feel the presentation of the cake is anything beyond what I would be able to make. Happy birthday isn’t hand piped with icing, printed off. This cake is $120 too expensive by my estimate. I believe the high reviews for this place are friends/family/paid reviews. Save your money and go to Safeway....

We had a Ukrainian theme cake made for a 95th birthday celebration. The cake was incredible with amazing attention to detail. We were reluctant to cut into it as it was like a work of art. Very disappointed with my macaroons. I ordered 16 macaroon (8 salted caramel and 8 crème brûlée) for my 21st birthday cake. I picked those with the colors and flavors in mind to match my cake. To my disappoint, they looked nothing like the pictures on their website to advertise them…

I wish I could post the picture of the cake we received. No way shape or form should this place (out of his basement) have a 5 star review! We made arrangements for a birthday cake for a 32 year old and got a cake that looks like a child made it. The picture that was place on the round cake was cut crookedly and looks like trash to be honest. All the colours are don’t make sense at all. We have a red velvet cake with purple icing, white banner with red writing and some random zebra print triangle things. Very disappointed in this $100 cake.. I understand why he makes you pay in full ahead of time. I would of never bought. 0 Star in my books!! Sept 2018

First of all... I will not go back. I've ordered a cake from them and it looked amazing but the taste was dry and plain!! I thought oh well maybe it was just a bad day for the baker. My friend went ahead and ordered one. This time it looked ugly and tasted dry. It looked like a child decorated it. Must've been another person who made the cake. When I came to pick up my cake, the boss Igor was screaming out of his lungs arguing with the baker I believe. I stuck around in the store downstairs until it cooled off. It was scary actually and I've heard from friends that they heard arguments when they visited the store downstairs in the past and how rude Igor is at times! Everything in that place is over priced for the quality they sell. Check out other bake shops in the city instead because this ISN'T the best cake in Saskatoon!!!

The cupcakes were super dry and the icing was overwhelmingly buttery. The macarons that were on top of some of the cupcakes were actually good. But a sesame cracker on top of a cupcake seems like an odd choice.
