The filet steak special was $46, and both mine and my wife's came overcooked. Mine also had an unchewable hunk of fat and gristle, which should never be found in a tenderloin filet. The Brussels sprouts were crunchy, the parsnips were leathery and the service was lackadaisical. I ordered six oysters for my wife and two orders were delivered by another server. The server didn't check back after serving the steaks for at least 15 minutes, which is a huge mistake when the temperatures were wrong on both. I'm very disappointed with the experience, and do not recommend dining here.

FANTASTIC!! The staff was very friendly, and had no problem with us having our VERY TIRED 2 boys with us. Everyone was very happy with their meal!! Our family just arrived in Saint John and were very tired and hungry. Our 2 very picky boys (7/9) LOVED their ECB burgers, ate the entire thing! Quickly too! I was more than impressed with the Red Curry Seafood Sauté, and my wife loved her Linguini! French fries were amazing! My only regret is I couldn't eat everything on the menu, they were closing in an hour! Top Notch!!

Me and my wife tried out this trendy restaurants for the first time on one of our date nights. It's a small Restaurant so you may definitely want to make a reservation. At first glance it looks a bit bear due to the lack of proper decor, but the chairs are super comfy. The staff is friendly and engaging, and the service was prompt. The food is fantastic, we enjoyed both our courses and even had desert. Very professional and well presented. There's a wide selection of wines and cocktails, very nice cocktails. My only drawbacks were the decor and the cutlery, tiny forks. We loved it and will go again.

Went for dinner.. appetizer and drinks were great. Gnocchi prepared to perf. Wife had lentil & mushroom croquettes, and I told waiter to let chef decide. Choice was yellowfin tuna steaks. Cooked and prepared perfectly. By far the best meal we have had in Saint John. Flavours were outstanding.

Terrible experience. We were given a gift card for the restaurant, but it took almost 2 years for our first visit. When my wife and daughter tried to pay for lunch, the gift card was rejected... the server claimed the card was used months earlier on an evening when we were nowhere near the place, with items in the receipt that we'd never order Seems the restaurant or servers scans for old, unused gift cards and either fakes orders or treats friends. Not interested in eating food from a restaurant with such poor ethics.

My husband and I had dinner here last week and had a wonderful experience! The food was phenomenal! We had the house made barbecued brisket and the seared scallop dish and shared both. The food was cooked to perfection and the presentation was beautiful. Service was extremely efficient and our waitress, Emily, kept an eye on us and was there if we needed anything. I am giving this a 4 star review only because of the stemware available for a glass of wine consists of stemless glasses. These are too large for me to hold comfortably without dropping and my husband has nerve damage to his hand which makes it impossible to hold these types of glasses. Our server came to our rescue with glasses that we could hold (brandy snifters!) without spilling a drop :) We will be back!

The waitress was pleasant. I ordered a plain burger and fries, the fries tasted like dirt, like they weren't washed. The burger was so full of onion I couldn't taste the beef and it was so greasy the toasted bun was soggy. Will never sit that long and pay that much for another meal. Bad representation of East coast food. 20 min to order, 45min to food I couldn't eat.

Ask anyone in Saint John where to eat and the first place they come up with is East Coast Bistro. Chef/Owners Tim Muehlerbauer and Kim Steele have created a destination restaurant that every foodie in town eats at when they want a great meal. The menu is hyper local and seasonal, the staff are friendly and prompt, and best of all the food is superb. During my stay in Saint John my birthday came and went. Where did I book a reservation for dinner? East Coast Bistro of course, and I wasn’t disappointed. The meal started with a half dozen Oysters, then a Purple Cabbage and Peanut Salad, followed by my main course of Steak & Frites. Perfection. Dinner ended with a surprise Birthday cake made by the Chefs. It was mine, all mine!

I have only been to East Coast Bistro once, but my experience wasn't the greatest. Unfortunately, my wife and I ordered the same dish and both had the same sad outcome. We got thick and fatty beef brisket that was tough to eat. Served with brisket was a bland and overcooked corn bread. The service was fine; just the food ruined the night. I would consider trying it again.

Our dinner was a perfect gastronomic experience. The decor of this small, cozy restaurant was uncluttered modern. All five dishes we ordered were visually pleasing and a perfect blend of flavors and textures. Appetizer included mushroom toast and kale/pear salad, entrees were the halibut special and chicken fricassee, and we forced ourselves to make room for the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. This was definitely was a Michelin star-quality meal.

I ordered a tiramisu for my wife’s birthday because it is her favourite. The cake these folks made for us was not only beautiful and reasonably priced, it was delicious! This is coming from a guy who thinks tiramisu is a garbage cake. I even had a second slice! 10/10 would buy again!

My fiancé and I enjoyed a lovely east coast trip in the maritimes and our last stop on our way back home was St-Johns for a couple of nights. We were very excited to try local restaurants there as our trip had been nothing short of spectacular food wise so far. We opted for Italian By Night the first night, which was excellent, and East Coast Bistro on the second night. Based on our experience, I would recommend passing on East Coast Bistro. It was wildly overpriced and the service was very subpar for a 180$ meal (our wine glasses were not topped off even once and so was our waters, waitress felt annoyed, etc). We ordered gnocchis and oysters as appetizers - gnocchis came with a slice of mozzarella cheese on them making them rather tasteless, but oysters were okay (still the worst we had the entire trip though). Our entrees were the Seafood Linguine and the Brisket - The linguine was fine, but the brisket was dry as hell. Forget tenderness, I had to knife my way in there like an axe. I told our waitress at the end of the night and she pretty much brushed it off and never apologized! It is worth mentioning that it was their most expensive item on the menu that night. The dinner ended up costing more than our previous night at Italian By Night, and was a massive disappointment. The place was at reduced capacity because of covid restrictions and it was a slow Friday night… it felt very weird, and weird is not a feeling you want to feel walking out of a close to 200$ dinner on vacation.

We had a great meal with friends, having made a reservation in advance. This year I discovered a new cocktail - P.Y.T. which stands for "Pretty Young Thing" when I asked about it - using Elderflower liquor - loved it so much I had two. We shared the appetizer which consisted of roasted mushrooms, pickled rhubarb, onion, pate, toasties - the only comment I would have about the presentation is that perhaps the mushrooms could be served in a shallow dish instead of a jar, which made it abit difficult to extract. The entrees were very good as were the desserts. Friendly service, busy place. This restaurant has a back area where a large group could easily enjoy a nice meal. I was able to thank the chefs for a lovely meal since they look onto the restaurant. We have been here many times and will come back again and again and again.

Place was dead and we still got refused service and turned away. I can see if it was busy that they'd enforce the "reservation required" rule but it was empty. I can't see why there would even be such rule being a stop for tourists, like is it to do a background check on the customer to see if their "good enough" for their establishment ? Or maybe if we were dressed fancy instead of wearing our tourist clothes we would've gotten served.

me and my husband went to the East Coast Bistro for dinner a couple of days ago and it was delicious! I had the trout and he had the burger. Both dishes were very well constructed. We also started with the goat cheese and it was such a fun and tasty starter. For dessert, I had the bete noir, so delicious! I love everything is prepared there even the ice cream/sorbet which is delicious! We're already planning our next dinner there and hoping to go for lunch as well very soon.

Fabulous food with original ideas. Beautiful presentation, and staff were helpful. We were a big group of 16 in the private space at the back of the restaurant and service was a bit slow for the main course. I had the special pasta of the day, a ravioli stuffed with a cheese mixture and served in a saffron cream sauce with 2 jumbo prawns. It sounded wonderful by description (there were other flavours mentioned but I couldn't hear the server over the noise) and but it arrived lukewarm, was a very small portion compared to the other diners' meals (left me hungry) and rather bland and tasteless. Other diners' food came out steaming hot. Mains arrived slowly so food got even colder by the time we all had them. That's my only complaint; the rest of the dishes, appetizers (seared scallops) and desserts (vanilla brulee) were amazing.
