I was in Safeway this afternoon and heard a man talking loudly and rudely. I was shocked when I realized he was an employee berating a cashier for being 'behind on breaks', or something. appalling!! a customer was shaking his head after he left her checkout. who's running the show here, and why is this man allowed to talk to people like that? I won't shop here again.

This Safeway is extremely busy and they rarely have more than 3 tills open in the afternoon. As such it makes customer flow quite stagnant and bunched up. They have self check outs but those have similarly long line ups. Average, expected, selection of goods. They do have Chuck beef hamburgers which are very hard to find so I appreciate that. Honestly though I try not to go here except out of necessity.

Gross Chinese food buffet. Came in to get supper at 5:30 pm and this was the state of the buffet counter. Sadly this is not the first time I've encountered this mess and dried up food. I watched the cook add freshly made dishes to the old dried up questionably edible pans rather than replace the new dishes in clean buffet pans. I tried to complain to the manager but after 3 pages for the on duty manager no one showed up. Even one star is generous!

Went in to buy about 120$ worth of groceries. Was going to buy some raison bran but the marked price was 8.99 for the 1.15 kg size. It is 6.75 at walmart and superstore. Upon going to the customer service booth and inquiring to have the price matched , the woman said safeways doesnt match prices, i told her its not so much a price match as an anti gouging price drop. Still no change so i left everything but my pre cut ham and decided to go elsewhere to do my shopping. Terrible experience, pathetic customer service and if this is in fact Safeway policy then this will Be my last ever shopping trip To safeways. Its sad to see how pathetically greedy a past canadian icon grocery store has gotten .

Florals: Safeway Inglewood St. Albert I was blown away with how my florals turned out for my wedding! I showed a picture to the ladies at St Albert Inglewood Safeway and they were able to mimic what I wanted with budget friendly options. I also bought their florals in stems to place in my vases myself and they turned out so well - I requested some greenery, white, and purple flowers and they explained that when they put in the order sometimes they can't choose the colours or florals delivered but there would be enough to do vases. I was okay with that,l as I am not picky with flowers, and they set aside a bunch of flowers for me and they were perfect to mix and match for the reception. I got my auntie to fix up the vases the day before and she did an incredible job! It was great to go in store and talk to Safeway Floral department about my budget and what they could do for me. They are a great budget friendly option. I ended up getting 1 bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaids bouquets, 6 boutonnieres, 5 wrist corsages, and enough flowers to fill about 20 vases for $700, but I could have spent less if I made my bouquet and the girls bouquets smaller and put less flowers in my vases. I donated my reception flowers to a senior's home afterwards and they kept really well for a week or two. Highly recommend 5/5 stars. Safeway Bakery - Went in to see the Safeway Inglewood St. Albert bakery about a week before and requested a bunch of cupcakes in a specific colour and for them to swap the icing out for buttercream, they tasted great, were budget friendly, and they were exactly what I wanted. We picked them up the day before and they were perfect. Ordered chocolate, red velvet, and vanilla cupcakes. 5/5 stars

We've shopped here since the store opened decades ago. They have a good selection at fair prices. Their "loss-leaders" are great, although they're not as good as before Sobey's purchased them. The staff at this store are consistently professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this grocery store.

I'm really enjoying the new plastic bag ban. Now when I buy berries in clear plastic boxes, meat in styrofoam trays, BBQ chickens in black plastic tubs, frozen vegetables in plastic bags,and baked goods in clear clamshell packages, I have to pay extra for extra heavy duty plastic bags, because they are reusable, if one should remember to bring them. Consider offering paper bags an work on your packaging pollution.

The overall experience isn’t terrible. The produce is mostly fresh and Jon in the meat department is always friendly. I am a bit dissatisfied however with the lack of cashiers on busy days and some of the younger kids on self checkout spend too much time talking And flirting with each other rather than helping the customers.

Generally the staff are friendly, but the florist always seems stressed out and inconvenienced to help. The cashiers are usually friendly and careful with the produce etc except one time recently on a Customer Appreciation Day (I go in the evening as it is not busy) when I brought in my reusable bags the cashier looked disgusted and flatly said "you need to bag yourself," and turned to start ringing in, which is fine, but I made a joke that I am not the best at packing quickly (which is why I don't shop at Superstore!).... Didn't even acknowledge I spoke......But as I was trying to quickly pack she just kept scanning and piling the food up (the packing area is very small so not much room to organize to put like items together and she was not keeping the order I had place them on the belt (e.g. frozen items, milk and meat products, produce, dry foods) I asked her to please wait a minute so I could get caught up and she gave me another annoyed look and kept scanning. She was piling everything haphazardly, e.g. frozen food on top of bread, and everything was getting squished (boxed items we actually getting dented as she shoved everything on. I asked her again to stop (this time I was clearly frustrated). So she did and just stood and stared at me while I feverishly packed and the second I finished the next bag she kept going again. The store wasn't that busy and midway through checkout one person came behind me and I apologized it I was being to slow (which honestly I don't think I was that bad!) and he was totally fine so I am not sure why she felt the need to rush me and damage the items?!! I was super annoyed and have since returned to Sobeys on Customer Appreciation Day.

Pros about this location: Bakery , & deli department above and beyond customer service. Especially when the bakery department was willing to go that extra mile to make a special bday cake for daughter. 40% of the staffs I encounter are friendly, specially the younger cashiers are more friendly. Cons: it’s always the older cashiers I encounter that lack customer service skills. My biggest concern is the meat/fish department. One time my go to place in north SA was out of wild salmon. Went to Safeway, asked the gentleman to cut me $40+ worth of salmon. He hesitated, asked “you sure you want to spend that much?” The only time I go to this Safeway is when I get airmiles bonus offers.

The bagging area is has so much junk on them including the brown bags. You would think they would have a place to put the bags by now Can’t imagine when the bagging areas were last cleaned. I've been going here for a long time, and all of the staff are quite friendly and helpful. Recently, though, there is a new cashier that was hired and I think she goes by the name Caterina. She doesn't say hello, ask you if you need bags, ask how you're paying, say hello or goodbye or initiate in any basic front end sales type interactions. Someone like this shouldn't be working the front end. Absolutely atrocious.

Jane and Kaitlyn ignored me at the self checkout stand this afternoon while they stood and talked. I ended up taking my groceries to till number 5 where I waited nearly 10 minutes in line to be served. The cashier who sever me was sympathetic but the time had been wasted. My ice cream had melted by the time I had gotten home and my bag was leaking. I will not be coming back to this location.

Although I find the other Safeway in St. Albert (Gateway Safeway) more "cozy" per se, this one is bigger and has a much better selection (not to mention closer to where I live haha). Its bakery is currently my favorite one from a St. Albert grocery store. Their Chinese food buffet is a really cool feature that isn't available at other St. Albert grocery stores. The produce is always really fresh, although I am frustrated that I never am able to find the Our Compliments vegetable medley's here anymore - gotta go to Sobey's to get that now haha. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the selection is good. Much like Sobey's though, prices are a bit high. Safeway is good for some things (it seems all the grocery stores have their own appeal), but many brand name products can be purchased for a cheaper price at Wal Mart or Superstore.

Friendly staff and usually easy to find what you need. The store itself is weirdly dark and claustrophobic feeling. It is awkward to queue at the self service checkouts without being in other shoppers way. Don't like it when there are people ambushing you asking for donations at the door as you enter the store and you are trying to get your bearings.

Sometimes the stock is a little on the iffy side for produce, but it's still miles better than Sobeys or Superstore. Reese is the best cashier, fast and efficient but takes the time to have a little chat and make you laugh while he's ringing you up.

the starbucks in this safeway has the nicest workers ever, i always come here and go to the starbucks inside and i’m never disappointed. especially today i came in around 5ish, and i just ran to write a review because she was the most friendly person she just made my day. she made my drink very quick and it was ammmazing! A+ to whoever that was working today, i didn’t catch her name but blond hair and it was in a curly pony tail. such a sweet girl.

I am a regular who has been shopping here for two years now and have noticed repeatedly that the staff - including floor managers - making disparaging comments or unflattering behavior towards people with disabilities. I have overheard managers including Ronaye and Shiela making negative comments towards customers who clearly need extra support or even their own staff. The younger cashiers spend way too much time goofing around such as Ellie or Jacob whom I have been denied device from while they leave their till to go talk to their coworkers leaving the hard working cashiers like Helen, Luke, Mikayla, and Daryl with long lines. I have found the behavior and mannerisms of the staff And management to be appallingly abysmal and recommend that anyone with a sense of decency shop somewhere else.

Luke the cashier treated me like I was garbage and an inconvenience to his day. He embarrassed me by abruptly accusing me of not following Covid-19 rules. I am a nurse, I am very aware of the potential risks associated with this virus. A polite “please do it this way instead” would have been sufficient.
