Yikes. Terrible physical distancing and several people wearing masks under noses or not at all. Signs on floors but no one following them and no staff enforcing or encouraging proper spacing. Only in deli sit down area were things looking good. Really takes away from wanting to purchase any items.

I love the downtown Edmonton location much more! I think the prices are a bit much for some items at this location and wouldn't shop here again. If you want great service with a family feel take the trip to Edmonton and get your stuff there!

I usually shop at the original Italian Market in Edmonton but I was in St. Albert so went to this store. The produce section is sad. So small in the back corner with not much to offer. Nothing like the IM on 95st. Which has a glorious produce section.

My wife and I love this place! Being an Italian and having a heavy Italian culture, this place is as close as it gets! From the paninis to the desserts to the espresso and finally the groceries; it has a great Italian feel when you walk through the door. We live on the southeast side of Edmonton and we make sure we pay a visit once in a while to enjoy the great food, beverages and selection!

The more I go, the happier I am. Still not the same selection as the Italian Center, but lots of little hidden gems. LOVE LOVE they way they slice the meat and cheeses and wrap in butcher paper. Other local stores could learn a thing or two about it. The bakery has wonderful fresh breads that my family loves. My only issue is with how tightly packed everything is inside the store. I feel for the cashiers when it's really cold out. Overall, glad it's finally here.

Popped in today to see what all the Sr.Albert folks were freaking out about and have realized they must be pretty isolated to think this place is anything but an overpriced Italian convenience store. I will continue to make the drive into Edmonton to patronize the Italian Centre as I have for decades. We decided to have lunch which was very disappointing. Foccacia sandwich with the same ingredients you get on the sandwiches made at the Italian Centre but it was all bread and one piece of each meat. After being on the press, it was barely warm and had no toasting to it. The mushroom soup tasted ok but in addition to being too thick, the mushrooms were chewy. And when I asked for pepper, they said they didn't have any. I said that was surprising for a restaurant not to have any and was corrected by the snotty barista (male, the girls behind the counter were friendly) that it's a cafeteria, not a restaurant...still, have some salt and pepper for those that like additional seasoning. Mediocre experience, food and service.

I absolutely LOVE coming in on Monday nights to get a cappuccino! Usually the same rotation of staff are work those nights. The young Barista, Jenna in the cafe is GREAT at making coffees!! and the young brunette man in the bakery was pleasant to interact with. Other days of the week are alright, but if you're thinking of stopping by for a latte and a snack, Monday nights are where it's at!! The owners should be incredibly proud of their staff, these guys are awesome! Giving 5 Stars for the service that never fails to be any short of helpful and pleasant. Thank you Mercato!

The baking and deli make this place a must visit. Great place to go for dessert. The deli has a wide selection of meat, cheese, and olives. Go on Saturday for some samples. Grocery has a lot of hard to find spices, fresh pasta, and delicious frozen meals for the family. We will definitely go again.

The sandwiches at the cafe were a little underwhelming, very simple for the price... The groceries are also a tad on the pricey side but probably because they are mostly imported, nice variety. Enjoyed the donuts. Will probably go back to try more baked goods.

Been there on when they first opened. Huge bakery, everything else is quite small. Not a huge bread area nor is the deli. Very small isle's. 3 cashier's. It should of been strictly a bakery. Hopefully the pastries are fresh here.

Pretty small place, compared to an Italian Center shop. Their cafe seems nice, I ordered the cold brew coffee and it is very bitter. I had to add cream and sugar (but I have a bad sweet tooth). The fellow at the cafe bar was really nice and helpful. Cheers to him. The other staff were less than friendly, they all glared at me. I had to check in the mirror to see if I had something on my face or something. Not sure I'd go back since it is quite out of the way for me.

I'm a little confused on all the 5 star ratings. Don't get me wrong, I love having Mercato around. But it's a place designed to make nice looking food that is average underneath. Their pies look great, but made with store bought pie filling. Their doughnuts look great, but not really any better than tim hortons. Sandwiches are decent prices, but nothing you'll crave later.

Nice place to grab a soup and sandwich or a great latte. I enjoyed my visit to the shop but was somewhat disappointed with the grocery side (but keep in mind that I often shop at the Italian Centre - which is known to be world-class). Interesting items and great unique foods - they play gaves with prices: 100g chocolate bar is $2.49 - same brand and flavor 300 gr is $7.99 - do the math, they play off your instinct to grab a larger "bulk" item with your thinking that you are getting a deal. Some of the younger checkout girls are quite grumpy and not friendly at all - obviously not wanting to be there.

The selection of baked goods , European grocery items , great selection of specialty cuts of meat , cheese, and sandwiches at a great price is enticing . I came yesterday and thought it was chance that the bakery were rude, the deli people were awsome but the rest were terrible. I felt unwelcomed. I won't be back again.

I go this Italian Center maybe once every couple of months, and every time I end up with the Racist cashier. She doesn't say hello or even acknowledge my existence, except to ask me how I would like to pay for my stuff. However, she has no problem sharing pleasantries with the Caucasian customers. Sometimes engaging in friendly conversations with the people after me in line, while completely ignoring me the whole time I am standing in front of her. What horrible customer service. I will not go back there again. I would give this place zero stars but unfortunately Google wouldn't allow that. Learn to treat your customers better regardless of their skin type.

The bruschetta is yummy, there is an awesome selection of meats and cheeses that you typically don't find at your local grocery store, and the cheesecake is addictive. Amazing selection in the deli and market. Was happily surprised to discover almost the entire selection of Summerland Sweets syrups! These are my favorite fruit syrups for waffles and pancakes but usually I can only find blueberry and occasionaly raspberry in any other store. Was super impressed with the bakery, and cafe. Haven't been here in 2 months and there has been a big drop in standards. The staff were unfriendly, didn't know how to make a cappuccino (I was given a cross between cappuccino and a latte) and the tables were not being cleared from previous customers. Some training and better management badly needed.

It was a beautiful store. A little crowded in the aisles but lots of variety. No one offered to help us with our Cart and there is no sidewalk made for carts.we wound up lifting the cart over the cement partitions to our car. coffee bar needs tweaking.only one cash regster and none just for coffee. Nothing available for gluten free (e.g) a small cold plate. So lunch was not possible but coffee was delish.

That is the main reason why I and a lot of people loved shopping at Spinelli's downtown,unfortunatly parking is a problem,so I tried the two other Spinelli's,the atmosphere just is not there,might as well shop at safeway.Also music would up the sales,songs like tarantella napoletana,angelina,tu vo fa l'americano,che la luna mezzo marre,hey goombadi,who stole my provolone, buona sera segnorina, ect, ect. Just a thought,personally I like to think I am in italia when I shop there.You are open for 12hrs=720mins average song = 3mins you need 240 italian songs, easy peasy on a loop. We recently bought a frozen pasta here. Didn't realize until after we got home that there is 0 baking instructions. I would think this type of information should be standard on something that they make in house? Also we found that they did not have a great selection of food like the Italian Market in Edmonton. Same thing with the cheese selection. We will probably go back but will be asking questions on cooking things that have no instructions/labels on them!

Ordered a few sandwiches for me and the family today. One thin slice of roast beef, one slice of cheese, and some mustard on a thick baguette style bun. No lettuce, no tomato, nothing else. Almost $7 for each sandwich. Definitely won't be coming back. What a joke.

You know how you walk into a bakery and you just know the amount of care they put into the goods? That's what this place feels like. Even though it's a bigger shop, it has a homey feel to it as well. My only gripe, and this is my gripe with just about any bakery these days, when I ask for a dozen, I expect a bakery to give a baker's dozen. I don't even care, full price, half price, whatever. 12 is not a baker's dozen. Sorry.

My wedding was yesterday. I sent them a picture of what I wanted and was very specific about the colour, design, etc. I paid $140 for a two tier cake and 40 cupcakes. What I got was disgusting. One of the ugliest amateur cakes I have EVER seen! There was way to much custard filling, cake was dry and icing was bland, cake was also leaning because they didnt support it properly. The colors, design and everything about the cake was not even close to what I asked for! They completely ruined the cake portion of my wedding.

Produce was appetizing and very reasonably priced. I was pleased to find BC cherries and peaches without having to wait in a gigantic line at the farmers market. The store was clean and well staffed. Lines moved quickly for the bakery and cafe, which btw, 2 drinks for under $8?!? Will be returning. Soon. Often. May never go elsewhere.

I went hoping for a really great bakery. I got 2 multigrain baguettes which were good. Lots of nice looking treats on offer but I did not try any. Then I bought 4 loaves of whole wheat. They looked like commercial bread so I asked a staff member who told me they come from another location but were fresh every day. I took them home. The bread was stale by the time I got home. I left my daughter's sandwich out for a bit (10 min) waiting to see if she would eat more but it had turned into a crouton. It was terrible bread. I won't be going back for the bakery. I can get decent baguettes elsewhere! The rest of the shop looked nice. There was an interesting selection of imports but for me I'd rather shop at a regular grocery store and hit one of the other great bakeries in town for good bread.

I went to purchase cake from this store. There was a young girl her name was Jane was talking to a guy she ignored me for few minutes and when she came to help she asked the person who was beside me instead of me. I requested a cake she put it in the box and through it on me she even did not wait if I need something else. You guys need to train your employees to respect people and treat them fairly. I will not come again and will tell my friends and whoever I know to avoid this place due to this bad experience.

Ordered 3 platters, fruit, meat and cheese and antipasto for a function. Stood in line at deli for pickup while others jumped ahead and were served while we waited. When I ordered some party trays for a recent function I was told that the Antipasto tray would have a beautiful assortment of quality olives from their olive bar along with other items including asparagus. All in line with what I had enjoyed from Mercato at a previous function which was why I gave them my business. When I unwrapped the tray I was disappointed to find no asparagus and only a small handful of tiny pimento stuffed olives....not a quality olive in sight!! I couldn't return the tray at this point so contacted the Manager the following business day with my concern. He didn't seem interested in my complaint but took down my phone number and said he would "look into it" and call me back. I never received a call back which speaks volumes to me about their Customer Service!! Their party trays are NOT cheap so when a customer has a complaint they should see this as an opportunity to improve and build customer loyalty not as a nuisance!!

I come here fairly regularly, and I visited one evening a little over a week ago on September 30th. It wasn't busy, and the gal working at the bakery counter was sitting texting on her phone out in the open, not even discretely...it's not professional to keep customers waiting while you sit on your phone on the floor. Then she starred at me rudely and expectantly, like I was supposed to initiate the transaction. It wasn't a pleasant interchange. A decent store with a full range of products, the pies are reasonably priced, I just wished they added a little more butter to the pastry and up the price a little to compensate for it, although the texture was great it just needed a little more. Imo that is ????

This is one of the best bakery's I have been to. The store has a great selection of items to choose from. The baked goods were perfectly made, well priced, the staff were friendly and were willing to help me find everything that I was looking for.

We always love to grab a coffee and have a wonderful little treat from the Italian Bakery. It's a treat to do some shopping, their fresh cheeses, meats, olives and vegetables are always top notch. I can't wait till our next visit every time we leave. Also the other night we were in the store grabbed our treasures and a coffee and on the way out we had a little accident and spilt one of the coffees. I went back in and told them what had happened and the wonderful lady at the counter replaced it for us no charge. We will always be back, but it just anchored us there even more. Thank you so much for the amazing service, and friendly atmosphere. Cheers

Mercato I'd the most delicious place to get all your favorites. They have a wonderful bakery, specialty grocery items including cheese, deli, and in season fresh veggies. This place is a must see if you haven't in st Albert.

These look like these should be really good right? That’s what we thought! Until we got home and they were incredibly underwhelming!! They did not taste fresh AT ALL. The pastry was dry and we had a couple bites and didn’t even finish them, it was really disappointing. I will return to the store itself as we did not shop the rest of the store but as for the bakery, we were really disappointed.

Pricing for almond milk is abstract ans they charge you what they feel that day. $2.25 uplift for almond milk in a chai latte is extreme
