REVIEWS OF The Donut Mill IN Red Deer

Charmaine Sanderson

Donuts are amazing and large, prices reflect this. Sandwiches are freshly made and come with a donut when you meal it. Prices are responsible and you can sit down to eat in a large area or get it to go.

Choastothend

The donuts itself are fine nothing too special, but the food Is horrible and the type of food you'll make for lunch if your late for work. It was lazy and over priced

April Klippenstein

Best donuts ever! Never disappointed!

Mirza Cynara

It was a nice place to go, especially if its on the way you can just drop by. But there washroom were quite dirty

Exploring the World05

Huge varieties of donut. Got recommendations from a friend and we don't regret it. Fresh crispy donuts with perfect filling. Highly recommendable.

April Lawrence

Not just fresh donuts but quality donuts. And a nice big variety.

Grace MacNeil

A relaxed stop off gasoline alley. This is a self-serve style place. I had soup and salad. Nothing fancy but hit the spot. We shared an old fashioned coconut donut. Lovely -- generous coating and good cake flavour (light). I would stop here again

Sarah

Went here today to treat my daughter on her birthday. It was so worth the drive and so glad I heard about this place. The staff are so friendly and nice. They made my daughters day! And not to mention the donuts are incredible. Definitely will make the drive to come back

Melissa Cockle

A must stop location any time we are in the area even just passing through! Donuts here are always fresh and so AMAZING!

Megan Vignal

Excellent variety of donuts; both the classics, and specialty options that aren't available at chain restaurants. There's a wide variety of savory food options as well. The prices are comparable, if not better than a chain restaurant's, but with a more personal feel. Even on a busy day, the staff were able to accommodate the high volume of customers without a significant wait.

Sarah Campbell

There are so many different flavors to try at the Donut Mill. Not the absolute best donuts I've ever had, but definitely a great place to stop for a tasty treat when you're driving by Gasoline Alley.

Jenna

The Donut Mill is an Albertan institution! If you are driving through or to Red Deer, you MUST stop here. Their donuts are delicious and everything is made in store. I love their whipped cream since they use real whipping cream to make their donut fillings. I recommend the Orange Creamsicle donut... it changed my life!

Tracy&Elizabeth Lodge

I really dont understand the hype about this place. It's expensive and the doughnuts arnt that great! They may be "fresh"made in house but the dozen we got just about 1pm were so stale I needed a coffee to be able to eat them. Wasn't overly impressed with the custard filling. Flavors ARE VERY muted.

Ryan Davis

Very good selection and decent price.

Alexander Dowsey

An amazing array of donuts for a very reaaonable price! a must-stop on any road trip.

Ashley

Bought 6 donuts. Weren’t anything special, and none of the staff were wearing masks. Won’t be back until they are or the covid threat is over.

Kelly

We always stop here on our way between Edmonton and Calgary. Huge selection of donuts, soup and sandwiches. Only reason for a 4 star was the small dates washrooms. The drive through is also convenient

Karen Mork

I got the maple donut and chocolat oreo. Pretty good considering I'm not a big donut person!

Yvonne Labrecque

The donuts are so tasty! There is plenty variety, so you are sure to find something you like. I asked for 2 boxes for the dozen donuts so they weren't stacked together; the staff was very nice! Definitely worth the trip from Calgary.

R Qua

Really not worth the stop. Seems lime a great, niche spot that would presumably have a great variety of donuts. NOT THE CASE. my donuts were dry, not very fresh and rather bland. Save your time....this is just a dated, on its way out highway donut shop.

Jenny Nguyen

After hearing about donut mill, I had to stop by when I was in red deer. They had a lot of flavours and varieties to choose from. They were all light and airy and packed with delicious filling. My only regret was not buying a dozen. Made it in the nick of time before they closed and the cashier was really helpful with her recommendations. Must definitely come back to try their other items!

Laurence

Was fresh homemade soup and sandwiches with chilli fries and so much more! Donuts galore, and coffee that's tasty not sour.

Heidi Halwa

Must stop anytime i am passing through the area. The donuts here are delicious and so many flavors to choose from!!

Rose Curtis

First time, I'll definitely be back ???? the Oreo and the vanilla lemon donuts were amazing

Arti Sankhe

Love the donuts @the Donut Mill. There is a good variety to choose from. Super soft and delicious donuts. The best part is there are many more options other than the yummy chocolate ones. Orange, Vanilla lemon, Maple, Apple etc. Enjoyed every variety of it. Totally worth the drive here.

Sean Curran

Great donuts, and at decent prices. Staff are always helpful. They serve non-donut items as well, including breakfast sandwiches, which are pretty tasty. The coffee is okay, but nothing special. The place is generally clean, though it's showing it's age (watch your step as you go through the door). Plenty of parking, though access is typical Red Deer tricky, and on a busy day, getting back on the highway will take some time.

Chris4622

Very good doughnuts but be careful they're addictive.

Jason Scorah

Best quality food. The donuts are fantastic soup and sandwiches are homemade.

Ken Devoe

Absolutely the best donuts in Central Alberta. Fresh made daily and so many choices. Lunch and supper dishes are great too. If you want a great donut skip the processed ones the chain serves and come here. The cookie flavored creams are my favorites followed by the fritters. Their chili and soups are great too.

Pilipinas TV (PTV)

Best donut place in Alberta Canada

Jill Buehler

The real cream fillings are incredible! We often find ourselves getting Donut Mill when we are in the area. #worththedrive

Jot Gill

The donuts were so fresh and soft & the taste was mind blowing. My friend asked me to try it out and let me tell you it was worth every praise I had heard and much more . I definitely recommend it everyone passing through red deer to make a stop at their location and try for yourself and I assure you won’t regret !

Mary Anne Edwards

I've bought donuts here 2x, and I have not enjoyed them. The chocolate glaze tastes old to me, and they don't seem to be fresh. The texture is not soft and squishy like a fresh yeast donut would be, they are somewhere between the texture of a cake and yeast donut. I would rather eat the donuts from Safeway or Tim Hortons. I know a lot of people flock here and make it a stop when going through Red Deer, so maybe you will like the donuts.

Ch1cken Phat

We drive up often just for the donuts. Very yummy!

Rhonda Bakke

Best doughnuts ???? in town. Love their chili in a bread bowl too.

Travis

This place is always delicious; we called our order in ahead of time and so we were able to go right in and pick it up and pay. They have a description of their donuts online; but that doesn't make it easier to choose between the great flavours. They were cooking donuts even though it was 6pm; good to know they are always keeping it fresh. Bathrooms were clean too, which is nice when your stopping between Calgary and Edmonton.

Dave Howey

Friendly atmosphere and clean and open establishment. The Young staff were happy to serve and make the customers experience pleasant. Stand and order menu was lacking in description and really a hot mess. Soup selections were boring (chicken noodle, minestrone, Campbells chilli) appeared to be from a mix or "canned". Sandwich had amazing sourdough bread (so soft it stuck to your teeth), but the rest of the sandwich left much to desire. The turkey sandwich consisted of 2 slices of cold cut deli style turkey, choice of mustard and mayo and assorted precut veggies...lackluster'. As for the Boston cream and Apple pie doughnuts, they most certainly were not as fresh as I thought they would be at lunch time. Flavour and texture wasn't much compared to a familiar chain of doughnut serving restaurants. I think this restaurant would be far better, if they made more home made soups, and had more imaginative sandwich recipes.

Alex Edmont

Great products, and clean place. The service is ok and the parking is good.

S

Never forgettable texture! Enjoy with coffee????

Fiona Bramhoff

They have markers on the floor for physical distancing and they are well staffed and organized. It wasn't a busy time when we were there. Donuts with real cream and good fillings

Elizabeth Bosch

Was "ok". I couldn't eat my sandwich as it was drenched in mayo and mustard. That's all I tasted so I tossed it. They offered me a new one but was done after that. Kids had okay food. Definitely bland. Donuts were delicious. I think we will stick to the sweets here and not so much anything else.

Ashley Nashman

Mediocre compared to the last time I was there. Especially their 'boston cream'... it was more like whipped cream inside which was super disappointing.

Lynn K

Best boston cream donuts for miles around. Their cinnamon sugar mill bites are pretty good too.

Wes Walker

Amazing donuts. Fast friendly service.

Haley Elizabeth

Always a stop on our way from Edmonton to Calgary. Best donuts and it's always speedy service which is great when you are travelling!

David White

Delishious donuts I feel like there not as good as thy were feels like the changed there recipe or something idk and of course the price is getting a little rediculious lol

Keith Karanjia

The Donut Mill is a staple for anyone passing Red Deer. Not only are the donuts amazing the sandwiches and soups/chilies are also just as good. If you do get a donut make sure to try the Boston Cream which is filed with real whipped cream instead of custard.

Shyanne Ewaskow

This place is a MUST stop! These are some of the most delectable donuts to munch on well sitting in your car. The sandwich was 100 times better than anything I could ever make. This place has a kind of nostalgia I love. Thanks so much xoox!

amber macneill

When you pull up, it has such a cute windmill. Inside you will find amazing donuts all freshly made in store. They have so many varieties.they also have soups and sandwiches, hot and cold drinks. They have a drive-thru also. The staff is so nice and helpful. They have hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE and a very good system for social distancing which I was very happy to see. Love coming here whenever we get the chance to go through Red Deer.

Summer Scott

One of my all time favorite places. Their donuts always are fresh and unique They have tons of flavours and they are just good quality. Their sandwiches are also very good. They use fresh breads and fresh ingredients. It's always a healthy choice to pick their sandwiches over the near by fast food.

Jeffrey Murphy

Cool little stop near the highway through Red Deer. The doughnuts taste freshly made unlike those of made by our friend Timmy. Their Oreo Doughnut is my personal recommendation.

A D

I tell everyone about their donuts, best tasting ever! Their food in general is great too, service always friendly, but seriously...the donuts!????????

Frank Janer

Always a nice pit stop on QE2. The donuts are delicious.

Ali Salman

Always we stop here and it never disappoints. Amazing place for donuts, home made food like sandwiches and soups.

Waleed Ahmad

They had the besssst doughnuts in whole Alberta or I would say one of the best in Canada. Their coconut roll doughnuts and oreo fillings and all others were delicious. If you are in traveling back to or from banff , it is a best spot for a tea break.

John m

Donuts are good, but not the Best in Alberta. For the price and quality try the DONUT MAN in Crossfields, AB No comparison....

Ed E.

Great Doughnuts! A lot fresher than the competition; Tims serving reconstituted frozen varieties. But Ask for a Apple Fritter, Apple Pie, PieBeef Stew, Chocolate Venetian, Venetian Cream Filled, Deli Sandwiches, Maple, PumpkiN, Rolo, Pie, Skor, Tuna Sandwich, veggie, and more. Request a receipt to confirm your order. Busy place, many customers, easily mixed up. Swiss beef sandwich, doughnuts and coffee would be my order of the day. Spouse recounts getting fresh doughnuts at closing. Just amazing. Manager Kat very nice as all of the staff. Really give up the fries and eat doughnuts. It is a Western thing. Get a box so you can brag about how Good the doughnuts are.

Brandi Edwards

A great place to stop in quickly on your way through, everything tastes great sometimes service leaves a little to be desired but who cares you just want to get in and out anyways and it is delicious here. The plain old glazed is my favourite!

Angel Victoria

Every time we head for a road trip, my family drops by this place almost every single time. Their donuts are affordable and delicious + you get a whole lot of different options to choose from. Although, nothing ever beats the old fashioned donuts ;))

Ryan DC

Our go to bakery and donut place in Red Deer for our commute between Calgary and our home town Edmonton. A must as a stop over in Gasoline Alley.

Marjan Mehillaj

I can easily eat a dozen if they were a healthy option! The staff was very friendly and lots of different options to chose from...almost too many. I'd definitely go back again and would recommend people check it out.

Christie Strong

Disappointed! I swear the donuts were day olds and the lemon blueberry scone? So disappointed! I broke a piece off to eat and the whole thing crumbled practically to dust! It made it impossible to eat!

Nicole Bunny

Absolutely delicious. Unique donuts that are unlike any others you’ve tasted. OverFilled with cream or pudding or fruit or chocolate etc. Soups and sandwiches that will make your mouth water. Eat in or drive thru.

nomad_paul

Took me long enough to try these delicious donuts I keep on hearing about from my friends. It’s really that good!! Chewy soft bites with just the right amount of filling, and almost 20+ flavours to choose from, which is a perfect reason to get 2 Dozens of donuts! I also tried their mini donut bites and it’s way better than timbits, and cheaper too! (20pcs for just $5). The staff were cheerful and always happy to serve. They also have eclairs, soups, sandwiches, coffee and more. I tried to arrive around 8-9am and there weren’t lines at all. They kept the indoor restaurant neat and clean at all times. I wish they open a second location in Calgary. Wishful thinking! :) Definitely coming back!

Sean Walters

The Sandwiches ???? they offer and great. Their donuts ???? are really good. But I've had better artisan donuts at other locations. The abundance they supply and flavors they sell though make this place a must stop if you're traveling from Calgary to Edmonton. A soup, a sandwich and a donut is a great little meal to refuel you for the trip. They offer six packs, dozens and singles. Over Tim Hortons their donuts are uncomparable. Mouth watering.

TispenserPooter

This place has some of the best and most delicious donuts I've ever had; I'd highly recommend visiting!

Brady Grumpelt

This is a great blend of fancyass donuts and old-school favorites. More expensive than the hockey player chains? Yes. Worth it? HELL YES. More of a crispness, a freshness, more love going into these than store bought or generic chains have to offer. Any time I'm passing through red deer, people will ask me to pick up donut mill donuts. I've dropped off donuts on visits in Edmonton and Calgary from the DM and they're always received with enthusiasm.

Rob Crane

They have the best staff and amazing products. They do custom orders. I would highly suggest stopping here not just for their amazing donuts but they have some really yummy food

Aaron Kuny

This was always my favourite place to stop for donuts. We stopped there 2 days ago and not only did they charge us almost $3 for a donut but it was dry and tasted old. Definitely not what I expected that's for sure. Such a dissapointment.

Angus Jenkins

You just can’t beat the donut mill in gasoline alley. I drove by this establishment for years, never knowing what I was missing. Well one day I went in and it changed my life. DO NOT drive by the donut mill! Sandwiches, soups, chilli and of course homemade donuts! The best around! Update: Jan 8, 2019. Just hit the donut mill again. 4th time in 5 days. Had the stew. Wonderful. Signed my friend Kris up for a Ducks Unlimited silent auction print. Big money. Boy will he be surprised!!

Mikayla Richards

Great for a bite for lunch, everything is always top notch!

Lisa Gina Cole

These are the BEST donuts around! So fresh and tasty. Friendly, quick service makes for a all around great experience. Tip: when you buy a dozen ask for 2 boxes so the donuts aren't stacked.

Leonard M Lagman

One of the best place to stop and get donuts. Friendly staff too! ???????????? We'll come back soon!

Maria Leonardo (Maffy)

Friendly staff and yummy donuts - no too sweet.

Jim Labonog

Not only the food was great but the service was amazing as well! I ordered 1 dozen of donuts after i picked it up and went back to the car, I noticed that we only got 9 instead of 12. I went back in to let them know. They apologized and gave me the missing donuts and they even give me 2 extra ones as well. Might be a little thing to others but this happened during my birthday so it made it more special. Definitely going back again soon!

Genegie B

A well maintained establishment that emits the fresh and amazing donut smell. We only tried some donuts and all of them were excellent. The sweetness of the doughnut was just right, soft and consistent in texture. The service was fast and friendly and I would go back for more. We tried Raspberry Bismark, Chocolate coconut, Old fashion plain & sugar, Cinnamon sugar and apple pie.

Scotto Gee

It is not a proper road trip between Edmonton and Calgary without a box of donuts for the leg back home. There are always donuts to select from.

Trinh Phan

Hello from Edmonton! It was worth it to swing by on our way to Calgary! So many varieties to choose from and donuts are fluffy and very well filled! Our favourites were orange creamsicle, Venetian Cream, and Apple Pie. Their eclairs are also glorious with fresh whipping cream. Highly check them out on your next pit stop in Gasoline Alley.

BettyAnn Buchanan

The Donut Mill is always a great place to stop by whenever we're in that area. Always friendly staff and a great variety of donuts and muffins and their meals are super tasty as well!

Brandon Ramberack

Had to stop in here on my road trip over to Calgary from Edmonton with my business partners earlier yesterday. Only had the chance to try the doughnuts and was expecting a lot more for all the buzz I was hearing before coming into the place. The doughnuts were decent at best in my professional eating option, but the whole atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant seems very cozy and had that classic old school dinner feel. Will come back to try the chilli which looked amazing! Only reason I am giving three stars is because the doughnuts, even though they had a lot of flavours and variety they didn’t really stand out to me in terms of flavour profile and the ones I had in the 6 pack I got all tasted generic even though it was all different flavours.

C Roaquin

A must stop when driving between Edmonton and Calgary! Clean washrooms and a yummy treat!

Tricia Leger

Such great service and amazing ????, I feel happy when I see the big donut. They have such amazing varieties and they all taste delicious.

Laufey Nal

Great donuts, but the bathroom here is just awful.

Stacey O'Sullivan

I’m disappointed with the food and mostly the donuts served here. Although the signs say homemade soup, the staff confirmed that they are premade. Which might be ok if they were quality products but they are not. I had the chilli #2 special and the chilli was flavourless. But the thing I’m most disappointed with were the donuts. For a place with donuts in it name, I had the apple pie, it was dried out and the dough was stiff and stale. I was going to pick up a box to take to friend and decided to skip it. There is nothing better than a homemade donut, but this is not the place to get it. I truly hope you guys take this to heart and do better as I love supporting local business.

Denys Tsybka

Large choice of donuts. They bake themselves. You cannot miss the spot because of huge windmill. Coffee is good, but there is nothing special about it. Spacious place, clean and very affordable.

nur rashidi

Best Donuts if ever had. Must try if you are in the area. Excellent roadtrip stop with clean washrooms.

Erick Mickelson

Red Deer delight... I was gladly surprised to be there. On our way to Edmonton, we decided to stop at this place.. It sounded a bit easier that it actually is. So ensure you take the proper exit and streets so you dont get lost and missed the restaurant. Once you found it, you are set as parking is available. Inside.. It takes you back in time ad the decor reminds you of the 80s or 90s. I am not a fan of donuts but let me tell you.. They are good. I tried the Boston cream and I was very impressed. The filling is sweet but not overpowering, the tertire is soft and it combines well with the filling. I have tried TH's donuts and that was my reference so I am happy to realize that it does get better. I also order coffee and it was not memorable so stick to the donuts as they are their specialty. I did note that sandwiches and other food was offered but I didn't tried them so can't say very much on them. The area is clean, simple. And the service is very simple. I think if I go down to Calgary, it is worth to stop by for a donut break.

stefanie charrouf

Overall impression? The place is dirty, the garbage bins full, the washroom, don't even ask. The soup seems to come from can, the donuts taste like sweet row bread. This is my first visit to The donut mill and if I can help it, it will be my last.

Christopher Stewart

Great donuts! Friendly staff! Try one of their sandwich's, you'll love it!

Barry Devlin

Anytime we took a road trip south of Edmonton, to Calgary, Banff or BC we made a point of stopping here for a donut fix. These donuts are the best donuts you will ever have and I've tried a lot of donuts in my time. Also it's always busy but they are always so efficient and friendly.

Brian Pellett

The service was quick, but the donuts were nothing too amazing. The flavor selection was wide, but a lot of the flavours were just mixing other do it flavours. The location is cute and old fashioned. My first visit was underwhelming, based on the hype.

Arif K (Arif)

My kids loved the donuts. Nice and clean. Very friendly staffs. Great place for stopover. Recommended

Derek Jackson

Pretty nice little variety of ????. I enjoy the little out stop for a quick fix of sweetness. Serve soups n sandwiches n coffee as well.

Dawn

Went because it was recommended but felt like it was overpriced and average. The oreo donut - my child ate until he got to the filling and then said it tasted weird. The inside tasted like plastic and whipping cream. The apple pie donut had good flavor but the pastry was hard and stale. I won't be returning.

Alfred Yung

Absolutely love coming here any time I'm passing by. The donut variety is awesome and it is always great. It can get quite busy but the staff are nice. Great place to treat yourself to fresh baked donuts! Yum! ????

Jasmine Johns

The apply fritter donut is my personal favorite, it's nice and light with out being overly sugary or greasy. This is a must stop place any time I or any one in my family has to drive through Red Deer, we always bring back a box or two of donuts. So when I come through the door from a road trip they are like "So where are my donuts?"

Elly G

Fresh and yum! A must go place whenever we drive by. Staffs are friendly. My favourite is the orange cream.

freda so

Nice selection of donuts. Generously filled. Fresh. Friendly service

Elizabeth Wang

Great food, nice atmosphere and excellent staff, what’s not to love?

Davie Pack

Great coffee and even better doughnuts! Cozy atmosphere and a great selection of soups and sandwiches!

Wade Manuel

I read a review that said closest thing to Krispy Kreme lol! We stopped in around 4pm not sure if they were baked in the morning, but honestly prefer my apple fritter from Tim's. Dont understand the hype. Better than Krispy Kreme LOL!!!

Oodles Poodles

Awful, I’m sorry but the stew I ordered off skip the dishes looks like dog food. The bun that comes with it it’s like they forgot an ingredient salt for sure it’s just a mess the sandwich was nice and fresh but even my donuts tasted off I just expected so much better when I spent 44.00 on lunch for one.

Ryan

I actually do not understand the hype of this place. The staff were nice and they have cool donut selections but I'll be honest. The donuts I got from there were dry and bland. I'm not sure if they had an off day or what but they simply did not deliver this time.

Alexandra Dayrit

Love the old look of this place and the donut case is pretty to stare at. The apple pie donut is super messy but super tasty!

Nicholas Cameron

I'm still amazed by the offering of the variety of donuts and flavors to be had. My personal favorite is the Chocolate Oreo donuts. So good! I will admit that the place is in need of a serious renovation project from floor to ceiling. Not only is it old fashioned in appearance but the place is really showing its age. My wife and I both noticed that the soap dispenser in the washrooms are held up by duck tape.

Beyond Bliss

How are they still in business? After hearing raving reviews we stopped last night while travelling through and bought 2 dozen assorted donuts. They are horrible! They are so dry they are hard to swallow. Honestly I'd rather eat 2day old tim hortons donuts than the ones we bought. What a waste of almost $40.

Hanan

Was recommended this place by a few people. The donuts are amazing and the establishment was busy every time I drove thru. The staff was super pleasant. The only thing is the bathroom is quite small for how busy it is. Otherwise it's really good. Forgot to take pics as they disappeared almost as quickly as I got them home.

Lubna U

This place was recommended to us by family. This shop is locally owned, one of a kind. They really pride themselves on their product. They are located 1.5 hours south of Edmonton, in Red Deer, Alberta. This place has a flavour of the month. While they were still serving June's flavour, in July, I'm curious to know what the new flavour will be--they encourage people to share their ideas. 1 dz of donuts is just over $15.00--normal for a premium donut. This place also serves coffee, sandwiches, soup, breakfast sandwiches, etc. You'll want to stop by--it is conveniently located off of the highway, so it is easy to make it apart of your trip. The Boston Cream is yum! I'm sure the rest are too...I'll have to update when I get home and eat them! They also have mill bites--like robins eggs or Tim bits...yum!

Doug Miller

Donuts here are fantastic. Best anywhere. Also had soup, it is homemade but really needs some spice. But the donuts... Come here for the donuts.

Payton Fry

the employee who was working the cash register started being very snarky and made rude comments about me behind my back whenever she thought I couldn't see or hear her. I never got her name because I just wanted out of there but it was still very unprofessional and mean. very unfortunate too because most of the time I have a very pleasant experience at the Donut Mill

Madison Olson

Always our favourite place to stop by on our way home from Banff!

Ted Haney

The Donut Mill is a mainstay of Red Deer's Gasoline Alley. The donuts and muffins are fresh, tasty, and fluffly. Doesn't matter if you arrive first thing in the morning and minutes before closing time, the quality does not drop. Highly recommended!

Jodi Meguinis

Great homestyle food. Such selection on the donut list as well. Yum! Definitely worth a stop.

Mitch Waters

Honestly they are on par with large chains. Doughnuts are nothing to write home about, The coffee is horrendous and the lines are out the door. I personally don’t see the attraction. I will say that the staff are really nice and understanding (it’s really loud in there) and everything is nice and clean, they also have a huge selection of food and treats. I just don’t think the wait is worth it.

Mai-Thy Le

All the donuts you could possibly dream of! Took a pit stop on the way back to Edmonton after Canada day and it was well worth it! The donuts here were very good and prices were very reasonable! I got a half a dozen of the cinnamon sugar covered donuts and some jelly filled ones! They were delicious and super soft!

Sculpted by Brandt - Chad & Kat

The August donut special (lemonade) was sooooo good! The light and fluffy filling is my favorite!

Marta Anne

Donuts are not as good as they used to be. We stopped there around 11 am on Tuesday morning, and got 6 donuts. I must say that they did not taste as fresh as before. They appeared to be day old, but we were charge the full price. The quality of the donuts certainly went down. Not sure if I want to buy more donuts from them

Stephanie Somerville

Coming here, you remember what donuts are supposed to taste like. Fresh dough and cream. Nice crust on the outside, soft melt in your mouth insides. I think the low volume of bad ingredients only means that these donuts will go stale quickly. You pretty much need to eat them the day of, alternatively put them in an airless bag or something. I keep coming back every time I drive through Red Deer, worth a stop for the donuts but cannot speak to the food or drink here.

Adrian Dayrit

A nice place to stop on the way to Edmonton. It's a good excuse to stop, have a snack and continue to Edmonton. I kind of like that the decor hasn't really changed in forever. Keeps a nostalgic feel to the place. The donuts are delicious, and the staff is quick and friendly.

Graham Poirier

With an establishment that is so well recognized throughout Alberta, I was greatly disappointed with the product that we received. We ordered 6 doughnuts and 2 drip coffees. The coffee was extremely weak and the doughnuts lacked in terms of topping’s quality. On the positive note the doughnuts were fresh and the bathrooms were clean.

Mitchell Aitken

Super great place to stop to get donuts or donut holes. Affordable and super delicious. In addition, theres tons of flavours for endless trips. If you're just driving through Red Deer or you live there it's a great place to try!

daryl douglas

Great selection of donuts and tasty too. Sandwiches are decent.

Chris Brown

Wow. Fresh donuts and very tasty! Other popular coffee companies can't hold a candle to these. Worth the drive out for them!

Anaya Sinclaire

Happy my favorite pit stop between Calgary and Edmonton is open. Busy as usual. Not a donut person but they offer tasty gluten free blueberry muffins like mom makes. Coffee always on and hot. Fresh made salads and sandwiches. A little bit of Covid Style seatng available. Fast service despite line up out the door. One picnic table outside.

Jaimelynn Perez

Nice selection, donuts were good but I found it to be a bit overpriced.

Harrison Sheremeta

I always make a point to stop at the Donut Mill when driving along the QE2. The donuts are very good, albeit a little pricey considering they are not any bigger than typical donuts. The Donut Mill Special is my favorite, though their feature is usually almost as good! If you are here on a weekend, be prepared for crowds.

Kelsie Auger

It was awesome got the chicken noodles soup and an apple juice super happy about the variety of options there I loved it

Sarah Conduct

This little gem is always busy, likely because they sell the best donuts around! Their lunch items are pretty good too, good value for money! The donut of the month was root beer float, my kids loved it! The donuts are never greasy and always fresh with so many different flavors to choose from!

Mitchellfw

Great Donuts, love seeing the classics available. My spouse and I always make sure to stop by when driving between Edmonton and Calgary.

Sameer Bhatt

Always have freshly bake donuts to eat

Cory Martel

Awesome selection and great donuts

Myk Hoang

Great donuts! If you are driving through. Pick some up.

Romell

Loved these hexagon donuts. Soft and generous fillings. The mushroom soup was delicious too. The long line moved quick as the efficient staff kept fulfilling orders. Going back there again tomorrow.

Carol McConnell

This place is popular and was very busy. Pros: lots of donuts Many flavors Cons: didn't taste amazing, not fresh tasting, overly sweet and cream fillings were the fake processed fillings. If you like interesting flavors and variety, you may love. If you want a fresh donut, pass.

Christopher Nixon

I was quite sad when Tim Horton's switched to frozen donuts and discontinued the Boston Cream Supreme. I always stop here to get 6 donuts with whipped cream filling and then eat them all really fast and hate myself for the rest of the drive. But totally worth it. The best donuts I have tried in Alberta, make sure you swing by on your way to Edmonton!

Denise Norman

Heaven. Just heaven. I had the lemon vanilla and an eclair. They were just perfect. And the service was super good and friendly

gordon jones

Such delicious donuts. Awesome old school offerings including whipped cream in the filled ones. Delicious. We always stop there. So great!

Mickiee S

Donuts were super yummy, the young lady at the cash was very nice and helpful. The women's bathroom was closed because it was being 'cleaned' when we first got there, so when I finally got a chance to use it before we left I was kind of surprised to find paper on the floor and the counters a bit ick. Otherwise, to run in and grab some fresh donuts that are different from Timmy's it seems like a good place.

Diane P

Heard so much about this place. Donuts were very good. The deli was not great.

Jacinta Smith

I don't think the pandemic serviced them well -- staff doesn't seem happy and everyone looks like they wanna die.. small selection of donuts - good selection of drinks. I'd probably go to Tim Hortons for a donut next time - & I'm not even a Tim Hortons fan

Bethany Meyer

I don't know if I can ever eat tims again, the donuts here are soooooo amazing. Plenty of variety and interesting flavours, but I would recommend the old fashioned glazed. A classic that can't be beat. They have great variety for delicious sandwiches too. I got the crab salad, which was great, but I'd recommend not putting Dijon Mustard on it, makes the flavour just slightly strange. The service is also friendly and fast. I can see why it's a red deer classic!

Mark St James

Delicious donuts and friendly staff. I never knew this place existed but omg I'm sad I know now. Gonna be heading to Red Deer a LOT more now. There goes the diet! And it's cheaper to buy 6... Of course it is... Thanks guys now I have to burn off that many more calories in the gym. But their unique take on fillings for classics like the Boston cream is mind blowing and definitely cardio worthy. By the way, I'm not even a donut guy... that tells you how good they are.

maria isabel Khater

Love this place. Everytime we go to red deer or edmonton we always make sure that we stop buy and buy donuts here in Donut Mill. So delicious and not too sweet. My kids love it!

Garth

Now I am writing this review purely from the perspective of their donuts. The atmosphere of the business is fantastic and the service is top notch but their donuts are nothing to be star struck about. Having tried a boston cream and a honey dip they are marginally better than Tim Horton's donuts. They are still good donuts but they don't warant the name.

Corin Hoskins

Red deer has one of the greatest sandwich shops you'll ever see, the famous donut mill has unbelievable donuts, sandwiches on fresh baked bread or buns and features the worlds most patient staff, this can be a quick stop and go place but the best experience is to sit down with the kids, have a bite and relax.

Laura Manchola

Donuts are good and not to sweet, so you can have more than one and don't feel sick! Good variety of flavours and the staff is very friendly.

Amber St.Jacques

The quality of the sandwiches has gone downhill! I was very disappointed with the taste of mine compared to previous visits.

Kim K

My first negative review. - This was our first visit to the Donut Mill and excited to stop for a sweet treat. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The donuts were stale and dry. And the server got three of our dozen donuts wrong, which we didn't discover until we were 15 minutes on the road. Too far to go back. We won't be returning.

Jason Dunn

Decent donuts, broad selection, fast service. Unfortunately when you buy a dozen they don't lay them flat in the box, they lean them up against each other. That means every donut with frosting on top melts onto the next donut. They need to get bigger boxes to accommodate keeping the donuts flat. The donuts are also fairly pricy; $14.99 for a dozen is expensive in my view. The donuts taste pretty average and for that price I'd expect better. Overall this place is worth stopping at if you're passing through Red Deer and want a donut, but keep your expectations in check.

Mike Newton

So many donuts! The cake and old fashioned are my favorites

Phi Phan

Always a hit with the kids, but depending on who you get at the front counter, you could have a dozen nicely stacked donuts, with two layers separated with a wax paper barrier. You may also receive a dozen slant-stacked, requiring you …

Madi Wright

I have been to a lot of donut places but this one is by far one of the better locations to get a delicious coffee side. 1) Price: Price is very reasonable, not too cheap like Tims but defijitely not too expensive like a designer donut shop. It is just right. 2) Location: Perfect. Gasoline Alley needs a nice little pick-me-up type place that doesn't just sell burgers and fries. Right on one of the main exits so it is hard to miss 3) Ambiance and Atmosphere: Like a 80's diner but nice and clean...not like your usual fast food place with junk on the ground. No drive through but Covid friendly procedures have been put in place. 4) Taste: Delicious! Got a 6 pack of donuts and most of them were even still warm (despite the rain storm outside). I got a coconut donut and it was my favourite by far. Any of the donuts with whipping cream are delicious as well. 5) Service: Fast food style restaurant so not sit down. Order at the counter and the staff there were fast and pleasant. Overall, 5 stars. Great atmosphere, great price, and great donuts!

Andrew Fleming

Just the best donut place. Old school and delicious. A must stop on the way through Red Deer

Jewell Cleo Gapasin

This is a must stop by on the way down to Calgary or up to Edmonton since I frequent both cities. It’s always busy but the staff is always so friendly and helpful. I’m told there’s better donut places in Edmonton and Calgary but this is one of my favourites to visit. It’s a must go to tourist spot for sure!

Kayden Riggs

One of the best places to get donuts. I always go here when I'm travelling from Edmonton to Calgary. This is a classic for literally anyone in Alberta!

Arjun Mahendra

Maybe got there too late, the donuts didn't taste fresh as last time.

Rob Ewanuk

Great donuts! I lived in Red Deer a number of years ago and when I drive though today we stopped in gasoline alley and the donuts are still amazing! A great variety and they are often restocked. I bought a dozen and brought it my friends in Calgary. The only issue is that most of the donuts did not make the trip...

Saeid Z

I tried coffee and donut. Both were good and the place is welcoming

Darrell Winwood

We always try to stop here on a road trip, the doughnuts are great. I've never had anything else but I'm sure it's great.

Fred Waters

Lots of flavors but they were a bit dry. We'll be back.

Denver Suttie

Always delicious donuts, but they have a great lunch/supper menu as well. Their soup is very well done.

Shania Podperyhora

The donuts were amazing, the food was okay. I wouldn't recommend the Dijon mustard. It was very overpowering and tasted like Wasabi. The most disappointing thing though was watching the girl make our food, she had gloves and a mask on and while handling our food she moved her mask under her chin to talk to her coworker and then proceeded to put her mask back on when she was done with the conversation. Did not change her gloves once, immediately went from touching her mask to handling our food. I did also notice some other staff members wearing their mask below their nose

Oluwatobi Erinle

Great place to stop over, especially if you are traveling from Calgary to Edmonton. Recommended for all lovers of doughnuts.

Chris Gavigan (Sweet Basil Catering)

The donut mill has been apart of road trips for me and my family since I was a teenager. Donuts are great, but the real secret is the amazing sandwiches. Simply the best!!!!?

JR

Again no apple pie donuts. It was 4 pm I was told 5 mins until they will be ready. Waited 15 mins went back into the line then I was told no apple pie donuts will be made until tomorrow. They were still open for another 5 hours. Stocking the most popular donuts are an issue.

Stephen Hubbard

Visited the Donut Mill for the first time in ages. Donuts are awesome! The coffee was typical diner coffee which meant it was pretty bitter and strong. Would love to see them add a espresso machine to make Lattes and other milk/espresso beverages. Would definitely give them a lead over the McDonalds and Tim Hortons nearby.

logamoor

They are the closest thing to crispy creme doughnuts one can find in Alberta. Absolutely delectable from start to finish. The filling is a fluffy airy whip, the selection is awesome, their display shelf is on point. On top of all that their staff were lovely. Prices were also reasonable. If you're passing through and need a snack, you know where to go.

Sam Mockford

Our plain glazed donuts were stale. I would have expected there to be fresh donuts available all day long, especially on Saturday of September Long-Weekend. My daughter enjoyed her sprinkle donut. Also please upgrade your washroom facilities.

Carly Sivasankar

Love this place! Great selection, very fresh product, and friendly staff, I always make sure to stop on my way up to Edmonton. :)

Connie Thomson

Very popular place! Amazing donuts!

Jackie Morrison

The donuts were pretty tasty. The overall service was unorganized and chaotic. Lots of staff were working but everyone scrambling over themselves and not being efficient. The ordering process was not smooth and when we ordered garden salads, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get them as there aren't any prepped beforehand. The cashier had to chop the veggies and make each individual salad! Service also wasn't friendly and when asked about the gluten free options we were told "there is a muffin" just like that. Not the best experience . would go back for donuts if I really needed them, but otherwise won't be back.

Shehzana Bawa

After all the hype for donut mill I decided to pick some on my way from Edmonton to Calgary. I wanted to try the best they have on the menu so asked for the most famous assorted donuts box of 6. Raspberry Cheesecake was the best amongst all. The donuts were soft and well balanced with sweetness. Good place for a great variety of fresh donuts.

Sarah Davies

The donuts are amazing! And still a large selection 15 minutes before closing! Thanks Donut Mill!

Thanh Huynh

WOW, didn't know this place existed. Old fashion donut with a modern twist. Love their wall display full of donut flavors. The best of the orange creamsicle!!

Beverley Nafe

I have now visited a few times. The coffee is good. The bathrooms are clean. Great selection of lunch and light dinner options, which is the best reason to stop here, because I don't think their donuts are anything to write home about. I can make more scrumptious donuts myself. But, once again, the coffee is great. The service is exceptionally good.

William Halabi

This place is such a favourite. Great staff good food

Taisa Anderson

The donuts were delicious! My one tip is to go early in the day if you want to be able to try all of them - we visited late and didn't have the selection we would have had if we had visited earlier. Very, very good old fashioned donuts with a bit of crispness to them and all of the cream filled donuts we tried were amazing as well.

Kimmers

Affordable yet delicious donuts! Highly recommend getting a dozen and sharing them! They provide a QR code while waiting in line to see all the flavours. I highly recommend making a list on your phone picking your flavours so the process is faster!

Torinda

Been coming here for DECADES! This is the place to stop on your way south! Donuts are so amazing here and for the prices very wicked! Even on days that they may be busy it is worth every single bit of wait. The only downside that I may have is the fact that their washrooms only have two stalls but hey that's a minor minor issue considering the age of the building, and how cool it looks from the outside.

Pete M

Sorry....i don't know what all the fuss is about ?... donuts are average at best - and that's being generous.... especially at $ 10.75 half dozen...geez doesn't anyone make fresh yeast raised donuts any more... disappointed.

Curtis Farley

Amazing place to stop in between Edmonton and Calgary. The donuts are made fresh in house and they are delicious! The place is clean and even though it's usually busy it is well run and you don't usually have too long to wait. The food there is simple and good, much better that grabbing a greasy burger at one of the fast food chains near by.

Judy Lefebvre

I didn't go in as I'm celiac and they can't cater to a celiac. Just used the location to meet up with friends.

Amber Brown

They have the best donuts. My whole family always stops on our way to Calgary..... and back. Sometimes in mid day they don’t have basic kind of donuts which sucks and anything that isn’t a donut is overpriced but I’m still giving 4 starts strictly because the donuts are delicious!!

Karina Scheers (TheFitNinjas)

Busy, busy, busy is all I can say. The donut mill has become such a hotspot. Very tasty donuts but high volume of traffic. This establishment needs to focus on being more clean. The bathrooms are filthy. Old building needs renovation and attention to detail with cleanliness. That or don't offer the bathrooms to the public.

Jayden Zhu

The prices are good and have almost all the donuts you would want. I like this place a lot and I highly recommend it.

Lahaina Barranda

Large Delicious assortment of donuts. Apple Pie Donut mmm mmm. Clean. Good, friendly customer service.

Carina Kwok

I love the unique donuts: mostly filled with fresh, flavored cream or jellies; with tasty icings on top. The donuts are tender and chewy and so yummy. Staff are efficient. They are so good at filling a box full of different donuts just through pointing and nodding. Bathrooms are always clean, yay! The eating area is currently closed but is normally very busy yet tidy.

Donovan Jang

A staple of the QE2 commute! Great quality donuts and plenty of variety. They know how to deal with the crowds and churn out your order. Gotta hit it if you haven't yet!

Mario Ivanov

We sometimes stop here when travelling between Calgary and Edmonton. The donuts are okay, but personally I think all the donuts that have the whipped cream filling are waaaay too sweet. The rest of the donuts are alright.

James Mcclocklin

They have the best donut choices, and they are so fresh. I love it. Should open one, her in Sylvan Lake, we only have 1 Tim Hortons here, on the east side, and difficult to get to without a.car, you have to walk along a busy highway. The town is growing rapidly on the west side, so one is really needed there, plus it's a pain having to drive to your Red Deer one.

Becky S.

Always love the Donut Mill! Fresh, in house made donuts, lots of choices, friendly and fast staff. We stop every time we go through Red Deer.

K M

They had fresh donuts and the chicken strips and fries we had were yummy. Not salted fries but really good nice and crispy outside and soft inside. Donuts were yummy. Its decent here and the staff are friendly but it's kind of a zoo on both sides of the counter because it's such a pretty popular place.

Paul Jereniuk

Our place to stop for the BEST donuts!

Erin H

Decent selection for old fashioned donut flavour types. Nothing modern or exciting. Decent for something simple. Price is just okay.

Chrissy Pon

Really disappointed last time we stopped... Donuts were stale. So sad, was always a go to for our pot stops in gasoline alley.

Dion Mak

Whenever we are driving down through Red deer, we always come to The Donut Mill. If you enjoy donuts and sandwiches, this is a great place to stop by. Great service and friendly staff, donuts are always a hit with the family so we always bring some home on our way back. Recommend stopping here if you do stop anywhere in Red Deer/passing by.

Austin

Girlfriend and I went to check this place out on our way to Calgary. I just got one donut and it wasn't the best I've ever tasted but still worth trying.

Brisan G

The place is well kept up, wish there was paper towel in the washroom. The staff are very friendly, they need to have someone shovel the snow near the front door and the sidewalk near the building. The donuts are good but could be a little …

JAR2nd

We purchased an Oreo, an apple pie and a honey glazed donut. The apple pie and honey glazed were average in my opinion, but the Oreo donut was lights out! We went through the drive-through, so can't comment on the on restaurant experience.

Chris Thompson

How could you not love this place? The donuts here are amaz-balls!! Fresh sandwiches and homemade soups too!! The drawback is everyone knows this place is awesome, so it's usually pretty busy. Good thing is, the staff also knows this place is the best, so they are quick and efficient. Stop here for munchies on the way through to watch the Oilers work the Flames!! ????

Kim Johnston

A Central Alberta legend. For as long as I remember, the Donut Mill has made delicious donuts, but it’s more than that, it’s an experience. Tasty, made fresh donuts, plus sandwiches, other desserts and coffee. The Donut Mill is all the things that Tim Hortons wishes it could still be.

Elysha Schlichter

I like this location for a treat they always have a great selection of donuts compared to Tim Hortons. Not always fresh but I guess that depends on when you go. I haven't tried their drinks or lunch sandwich type options just donuts. And that's good for me

Lauren Gould

Honestly , the best So homey feeling and the donuts last one the drive home. Went today after road trips to grab some tasty treats and we live in edmonton. It lasted the drive home. I am impressed.

A. Spencer (With some Sparkle)

Fresh , Friendly and tons too choose from . The staff was so helpful and sweet.

Alyssa P

I am giving 5 stars and will update this review if after we eat them anything taste less than 5 stars. That being said based off how busy it was and the amount of selection, staff etc I have very high hopes for our first dozen donuts we've gotten in Canada in years!

CY Siu

Its all about the cozy and comfort meals you get here. Nearby it is all fast food chains and this is one unique place that offers something different. Ample amount seating and overall clean. Costs are 1.79 donut, 8.99 half dozen, 14.99 dozen with other options avail as well. The meal are ranges from 6.89 sandwiches to 10.79 subs. Everything is deliciously made in house and is simple - dont expect extravagant. Soups are mainly campbells but the stew is the only thing that they make (and gets sold out often). Donuts are dependent on your taste buds but they do have very unique ones you cant find anywhere else. Highly recommend apple pie donut or the maple rolo. The donuts dont feel unhealthy as they are not greasy or oily. They are definitely filling.

JV S.

A little far for a drive but worth it, I live on the other end of Calgary. This place is better than Tim's, if your going to compare donuts to donuts, With their friendly staff and a clean place plus fast service, I will definitely come back. I wish they would open new locations close by to where I am at and not just in red deer.

Karla McNally

Worth a stop on the way to Edmonton. We tried the Donut Mill Special, Boston Cream and the Oreo Cream all three were delicious.

Reyhan Habib

This is a great place to stop, during a long ride from Edmonton to Calgary or vise versa. It is one of the best "family owned" restaurants I have ever been to. Donuts were very tasty, and there were many types to chose from. To make things even, better the employees liked what they do. Congrats to the owners, for their hard work and dedication in order to make the "customer's experience" more enjoyable!

De66ee Gerrard

We were so looking forward to stopping here after many years to buy some of their donuts only to be totally disappointed. We bought two different kinds and both were not fresh and almost hard. Of course we were kms down the highway before we decided to try them out or we would have returned them. It was early morning so I am guessing they should have been fresh so we were very discouraged.

A Hesitant Traveler

Very overrated in my opinion. The donuts and baked goods might be homemade but horribly overpriced. There is almost always a huge lineup but the place is clean and the staff is friendly.

Adam Carriere

How good is the Donut Mill? Good enough to induce tears or at best forlorn disappointment from my daughter's if we skip the stop along the Calgary Edmonton corridor. They were out of old fashioned donuts this last visit. I elected to wait while a fresh batch was being produced. The fresh warm donut was amazing.

Juanes Marin Rodriguez

Always delicious! It’s a crime not to stop here on your way between Edmonton and Calgary

Joanne White

My husband and I really enjoy the food, prices, service and selection of tasty food and donuts(these are fresh made donuts on site. There are so many different flavors, it'll take a bit to decide. You could always buy one of each, that might make your next visit a little e faster????????‍♀️????????‍????????‍????????????)at the Donut Mill. Our favorite is either the Beef Stew or Chili in the sourdough bowl! There food is made on site daily so it's fresh, you can tell by the taste, smell and appearance that you're getting fresh prepared food.

Zishan Zubair

Probably the BEST donuts I've had. No complaints with this place except that it's an hour and a half from Calgary ;(. I guess that's a good thing or else I'll be here too often. From the moment you enter, the smell of fresh donuts hypnotizes you. They have amazing flavours (oreo, boston cream, pumpkin special, apple pie, etc) and the prices are not bad at all. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Mohit Dasaur

One of the Best Donuts I have ever had. Very soft and not super sweet. Just perfect taste. We always stop here whenever we are passing Red Deer :) They do have lovely drive Through option as well. Highly recommended.

Monika Burns

A must try stop when traveling between Edmonton and Calgary, friendly staff and delicious pastries. Coffee is good too and I've been told from reliable sources that the sandwiches are also nice.

Jackson Le

Fresh donut bake daily. Super good. You can smell fresh baked donut. A must stop when driving by gasoline ally. They have good selection on doughnuts a lot of feelings and good old fashioned cinnamon and sugar doughnuts. The Apple fitters is pretty good but I preferred the old fashioned cinnamon and sugar donut and has a good chew to the donut.

Judinelly W Nimer

Love stopping here every time we go for a road trip! love trying new different donuts.. my favorite is the oreo and rolo one! The service is always great and also fast. I never have trouble whenever i order here. love love love donuts!

Michael Brinkman

Phenomenally good donuts. We stopped by here on the way to Edmonton. We got a half dozen assorted donuts of our choosing. They were very tasty. They were soft. The flavoring was good and not too overpowering. We will definitely stop back in when we are in town. A lot of donut places struggle with that line of using too much sugar on a donut. This place was just right.

Rene Geeregat

This place is great! The selection of donut flavours are unique! My daughter asks to stop here now everytime we're I'm Red Deer.

Alberta Guys

This place is a must see for anyone in the or visiting or passing through the Red Deer/Gasoline ally area. The iconic widmill on the west side of QE2 is impossible to miss. Visit them because the donut selection and freshness is best in class bar none. I can and have ate a 6 pack to myself.

Brad Willis

So wished this place met expectations. Great aroma stepping inside with a wall of tasty donuts that delights the eyes. We exited with two boxes and bit into our first choices out of a box only to say Wow, kinda lacking in freshness. Maybe a bad week to visit. Will try again next time we pass through town.

Nate Powell

Donuts and sandwiches. top shelf.

Ali Latorre

Large selection of in-house made donuts for very reasonable prices. We stopped here to take a break from our drive to Calgary. I had the orange cream donut and it was great! It immediately became one of my favorite donut flavors. I then realized why my buddy's friends keep asking him to buy a dozen donuts every time he makes the trip to Calgary from Edmonton. The Donut Mill should definitely be one of your must-visit places during your drive from Edmonton to Calgary and/or vice versa.

Lenneal

Some of the best donuts I've ever had!

Erin Swanson Reinhardt

One of the few places where we can get a top-notch baked good that my daughter can eat (she has a peanut allergy). They use real whipped cream and have awesome flavour like creamsicle and Rollo, though my current fave is their Oreo. Always feels like a small town, family place. We go every chance we get!

Danielle West

If you are driving through Red Deer and you don't stop here, you're missing out! Donuts are amazing, staff is great.

Mikko Fin

Driven by here for years but never stopped. Decided to try it one day. I see why people rave about the donuts... plus the huge variety available was great. If you go during regular business hours they also have soup and sandwiches. A nice change if you have some time to sit in and dine. The inside is dated but clean. Would stop again.

Jonathan Pineo

I was told by a friend to visit this place because of the great donuts... and I was not disappointed at all. The donuts were fantastic plus they also have really good lunch items like stew in a bread bowl. I will definitely be going back here again.

Brian McBride

It's the donut mill and it is awesome, is there anything else that needs to be said?

Krystal Cooper

Donuts are delicious (as always!) and the staff are amazing! Always have to stop by during a trip!

Alister Zuluaga

The windmill facade on this shop can be seen northbound and southbound. It definitely jumps out to anyone driving by. Lots of donut choices. The ones I had probably tasted better fresh as I went by later in the day. They were still tasty though.

Kelly Bray

The best donuts and eclairs I have ever had.

Lisa Jane de Gara

One of our favourite places to stop on our trips from Edmonton to the Rockies. Sandwiches are made of lovely fresh bread and donuts are delicious. If you’re traveling through Red Deer definitely stop here!

Andrew Mooney

Stopped by on my way back from Calgary, nice joint.

Brian Lee

Great food! Sandwiches and subs are yummy! Did I mention the sell donuts!? As of today March 21, 2021 they are offering dine in.

K For Karl

My family and I stumbled upon this place years ago. Now when heading between banff and edmonton, we always stop by this place. They have a super friendly staff and one of the best donut shops in the province.

K K

Always has a great variety of donuts !

M A

The best donuts in the business, the selection is endless calorie packed goodness. You know what let me taste a piece of heaven and worry about my jeans later. It’s hell yeah worth it... damm I think about from my wife and kids I have a mistress here. ❤️

Joed Rambongga

After driving from edmonton going home to calgary last sunday we decided to drop by at the donut mill and to my surprise we only saw a few donuts in their shelf it was only 6pm and they still have a long way to go before closing. So disappointed with our experience.

Angela Wong

The donuts are pretty good and there is a nice assortment to choose from. If you ever pass by Red Deer, you should totally make a stop here for some yummy donuts!

Myreen

I was so sad they ran out of Oreo donuts ???? when I was making my way there one evening. I always stop by to get a pack whenever I travel in between cities. Their donuts are to die for.

Nha Wong

Finally got myself some donuts!! Finally knew someone heading out that way that we could send our order with. We got a pack of 6 and they didn't disappoint. Nice light and fluffy dough with the perfect amount of filling! The chocolate wasn't super sweet like you've come to expect from donuts. It made it really easy to eat multiple donuts in one sitting. The fruit filling inside others has the perfect amount of sweet and sour to complement the donut. They were also the perfect size! The only thing that would have made the donuts any more perfect would be for them to be crispier.

Kate puim

My favorite stop when passing by. Donuts are delicious

Kecia MacKinnon

Very busy location but fast service. The cashier helping me even gave me an extra donut bite for my dog. Sandwiches are a great deal! We will stop by again next time we are road tripping.

Heather Rusk

Donut mill. A place that exposes the brittleness of your soul and shatters it with donuts you can't have anywhere else. Try the chocolate orange, they're my favourite!

Kevin Chu

Doughnuts are sooo soft. The chili bread bowl is very good as well.

Shelby Simmonds

After having discovered that the donut Mill is so much more then an old Donut shop I will literally go out of my way to stop there! Not only is the food delicious the donuts are one-of-a-kind! It's definitely well worth the stop!

dee clements

Always have to stop here on my way anywhere south of edmonton! LOVE the oreo and rolo doughnuts

Melissa Willmott

Droolworthy donuts! I popped into The Donut Mill to use their washroom - which was spotless, by the way - and afterwards, I got lured to the counter by their gorgeous donuts on display. Remember what donuts used to taste like? Moist and gooey and oh my goodness. I live several towns away from The Donut Mill, but I keep thinking of excuses to go to Red Deer just so I can try more. I was really impressed by their friendly staff and Covid 19 protocols. Definitely worth a visit!

Phoenix Knife

Friendly service and large quantities of fresh donuts on display! The Orange Creamsicle is my absolute favorite, multiple employees and keep the flow going smoothly. Would recommend for quick stops through to Calgary or Edmonton.

Britnee Baker

Great little local gem. Amazing donuts! Great service. A perfect location to stop for a treat on your way out of town or between Edmonton and Calgary

DC Tomcat

Yummiest donuts you'll ever taste

CornPop1

Went here with the family for lunch and was very happy with the quality of the sandwiches we received. I had the Roast Beef and my wife had the Crab Salad, and we were very happy with what we got. The donuts were also very good. Highly recommend the Venetian and Chocolate Venetian! Only place lacking was the kids menus, my kids got the mini pizza and the chicken strips meals and was disappointed to see the mini pizza unwrapped from saran wrap and then stuck I'm the microwave. The chicken strips kids meal also only came with 1 chicken strip. All of us were still a little hungry after but could be a good spot for a light lunch or snack if you're not too worried about price. Went back later tonight for more delicious donuts though!

Love Bunnie

Love this place! Always a family favorite stop on our way out to our camping destinations. Fresh and always tasty! Great kids working there the work ethic of the young ones really puts a smile on my face, great to see in this generation! Keep up the good work!

Byron Sieben

A must stop if you’re coming though Red Deer. They have fancy and delicious donuts that would seek at artisan and boutique shoes for three times the price in another city. Try this cake based donuts - they are old fashioned and taste the way that they’re supposed to. Makes the fat kid kn me happy !!

Silver V

Thought a nice soup & sandwich place would be a nice stop here. The price was excessive: $20 for a soup, sandwich & coffee. Even worse, we found out the chilli was from a can: Campbell’s. For these prices, I would expect at least a homemade chilli, or at least to toast the bread. The only thing we liked was the nice staff and I did find that the sandwich ingredients were fresh. Wouldn’t come back however.

Cindy Wang

Love this place, but donut mill you should really consider making Boston cream donuts without the chocolate glaze on top. It’s less sweet and perfect for people who like not too much sugar!! I love this place

Dorothy Michel

With the new round abouts, we were on and off the Hwy 2 in 10 min. In the meantime we picked up a dozen donuts from the Donut Mill with awesome quick service by using the drive thru.

Shergo Ibrahim

Don’t delete my review your customer service is the worst.

Jasmine Platnich

I used to live in Alberta and anytime we would road trip in that area we HAD to stop here. These donuts are the best donuts you will ever have and I've tried some fancy donuts in my time. Now that I'm pregnant these donuts haunt my dreams, I wish I could have one right now. My favorite donut is the rolo. Also it's always busy but they are always so efficient and friendly.

C M

Donuts were really awesome. But it was my third attempt going there to get donuts just passing through on my way to Calgary, so iam glad they finally had a selection. Would hiiiiiighly recommend. Only down side was the washroom was being cleaned which is nice but it took forever and there was a huge line up for the ladies

Shawn Pulsifer

I hate to leave this review because I really had high expectations of this place. We drove out to red deer area for a day of antiquing and stopped into the mill on our way home. It's a quaint spot with an absolutely charming setting however that's where the fantasy ends. The product itself is really nothing special and that's extremely unfortunate because it could be (and should be) so much more. If you sat me down at a blind taste test with TH donuts and Donut Mill donuts no way I'd be able to tell the difference. I feel that a place like this should stand out with much more decadent and unique offerings but there really aren't any. The staff were great, however, and very friendly and eager. This isnt an issue with staff or setting but only with a lackluster product.

Okay place. Staff are really friendly, but price is expensive. My brother had a 4 piece chicken tenders. One of them were cold in the inside so the staff replaced it. Chili cost about 6.50 and Toma Roma soup or something like that cost 5.50. Overall, donuts were great (a bit sweet, but they are dough nuts) and the food was okay.

Carl Dyck

Great spot! My Grandpa used to bring us donuts from here.

J. Moltzahn

Jelly filled are awesome but some others taste stale.

Roberta

The donuts were good but not as spectacular as the hype. If you want to try something different or like the old fashion touches this is a great place to visit.

Graham Vance

The doughnuts cost a bit more than something similar to Tim Hortons but they are worth it. They are made fresh and in store. They make a good variety and have flavours of the month. The food, in general is pretty good and includes dishes like stew or chili as well as various sandwiches. It is a fairly busy place but the staff are always friendly.

Turd Furgeson

Every time I rip through Red Deer, i'm stopping here and getting a quick dozen. Great selection, always fresh and delicious no matter what you get

Sou Cit

I would give 3.5 stars, just because other than donuts, all their other items are very pricey, a TINY soup for nearly $10!! Sandwiches are super dried!! (FYI: There’s A&W beside) Recommend only their donuts~

Tracy Walaschuk

Wow. How disappointing. I ordered the advertised “homemade” beef stew in a bread bowl with such high hopes. The first mouthful screamed “Campbells Chunky Soup”. Totally canned soup. And since when is beef pink? It looked more like bits of pork. Nothing homemade or fresh about it. Speaking of not fresh… my bread bowl was stale. My kids ordered the chicken noodle soup. Again totally canned soup and literally one small piece of chicken in the whole bowl. The ham in the ham and cheese sandwich was grisly and slimy. Such a shame that so many corners have been cut on the quality of ingredients on the meal portion of the menu. We will not be returning. Ever. The only good thing we ate (there were 5 of us) was the donuts. The Venetian cream was delicious. The customer service was really odd too. The man that took our order was completely miserable and actually scared two of my kids. But we are all human and maybe he was just having a terrible day.

Nissreen Chams

Such a cute donut shop!. Heavenly aroma. Delicious cauliflower cream soup too!

Erik

Not sure what the hype is here. We were there mid-afternoon. Donuts were stale. The "toppings" on the donuts were literally one chocolate chip on each lol. First umpression wasn't good looking at them. They look cheap and were dried out. Sandwich was literally just a sandwich. Nothing to it at all. Looks like a kids packed lunch for school. It was bland. Just excess butter and mayo. The small soup is incredibly small and canned. Bland. I couldn't believe for such a boring soup, sandwich, 6 donuts and a Pepsi was $35. And then want a tip after that. Not a chance. Won't stop here ever again. Way overhyped. Overpriced, under delivered and honestly disappointing.

Steven Sousa

The best donuts you can find in Alberta. Can't beet there old fashion plain and black coffee.

Dale White

Had a great sandwich and a nice fresh donut.

Bill Fong

First time there and excellent choice. Great donuts. Will go again

Erin Casey

Great selection of donuts however, found then to be a tad stale. The sandwich I had was AMAZING though! Will definitely try again !

Gregory Chabassol

They still do donuts from scratch. My wife used to work at a donut shop and is hypercritical of the decorating techniques used. For the most part she is very happy with the results of the place. Personally I think the coffee's a little too strong but that is the only complaint I have about the place. Sandwiches are nice and tasty and the service is with a smile.

Marvin De Guzman

Donuts are great especially the Old fashioned Glazed!. Coffee is not exceptional but hey, we’ll be back to try their other selections for sure! ????????

Jackie Godlien

The donuts are worth the hour drive for me. Not sure if key lime flavour is ever made, it should be. Every donut is superior to Tims in my opinion.

Alex West

Terrible. Over rated. Over priced. Stale. Will never return. Our two 12 packs were from the previous day because if you can make donuts that stale from the get go you should not make them to begin with. Will never return. You should be ashamed.

Timmy 97

They offer a great variety of donuts, but honestly I was expecting a better donut from them. I bought a dozen assorted and they just didn't taste "fresh". Disappointed.

Chris

Good donuts, ok coffee. Dated decor, and not in a good way. The Donut Mill has potential to be something great but it needs to come into the current decade. It's worth popping into now and then but it's not a destination.

Brandon Romance

Its a little pricey but my god, these donuts are amazing. The apple pie donut actually has real apple pie filling inside???? omg. Best chocolate coconut donut I've had. If you dont mind spending a little bit more $ I strongly recommend the donut mill if you are a donut lover like myself

Rene Jacob

Great selection of donuts. Staff need to put chocolate topped donuts on top level when a dozen is ordered

Jonathan Bennett

Lots of selection and always fresh! The eclair is big enough for two people! We grabbed a 6 pack of donuts. Our favorites were the Rolo donut and the lemon filled donut!

Stephen van Santen

The first my wife stopped by the drivethru, she didn’t know what to order. However within moments she was blown away. Not only was she guided through a delicious assortment of handcrafted donuts to select from but once her selection was made she received that donut for free. The Donut Mills way of saying thank you for choosing us. Thank-you!!! Recommending the whipped cream filled maple donut! Thank-you!

Hannah Chu

On my way to Edmonton we stopped by Donut Mill and it was the perfect road trip snack. They have tons of donut options and they have the perfect donut texture! I love that they had a drive through so we didn’t have to get out of the car! Can’t wait for the next road trip, so that I can stop by here again :)

Doug Barkley

Stop Here everytime we come through or stay in Red Deer. Donuts have Always been Awesome. Today we stopped and got a sandwich and I got 2 thin peices of Roast Beef and abundant amount of onions. We got on Highway and noticed or would have returned this plus my Donuts where wrong asked for Boston Cream got Chocolate.

V Sooke

Health and safety measure are not being taken seriously. They have registered their business online to prove masks are not being worn.

Mat Corns

A great historic Donut shop located in Gasoline Ally. It has been here for years and is easily identifiable by its huge windmill! I have only been in here once but the staff were all very friendly and the donuts were also great. The kids also loved going in there and selecting their own donuts from their large selection.

Cj Sison

Love this place, been here a million times. But on June 13th got there at 5mim after close. Waited at the drive thru didn't realised they were closed. But the guy closing didn't even bother to open his window and let us know he was closed he just stood there. We thought he was gonna take our order. Anyway disappointing customer service this time around. 3 stars for quality donuts

Tamara Melnychuk

Although I personally can't eat the donuts because I have Celiac, we stop here every time we come through Red Deer! They are my husband's favorite donuts! He loves the donut mill special and the apple pie donut.

Monica Verma

Order oreo chocolate donut and orange cranberry muffin .. both are good

Matthew Malamas

This place is a must stop on your way through. They get you in and out quickly so you can get back on the road. The bad thing is I only ordered 6 donuts. Should have gotten 12. They are sooooo good. Will be stopping again next time I coming though.

GINI ELLE

Best donuts in town! Its a treat. Lots of selection.

Julie Kerr

This place used to be good, I am very disappointed. Dry bread, low quality ingredients and the donuts were old.

Kottah Marie

I stop every single time I come through. When I travel from yyc to yeg I bring the good good for my co workers from yvr and then on my way home my family gets a treat, of course I get some from both stops. Love this place!

Amelia Duncan

I love this place, they have the best donuts in Red Deer. I'm about an hour away, everytime I go into the city I grab a box and bring it home, in a matter of hours they're gone. Their sandwich bar is excellent as well, you can even get a sandwich on sliced bread. I'm pretty sure they bake everything. The Donut Mill is a great place to pick up lunch or a snack.

Jennifer Neumann

Nice doughnuts. Stuff could be friendlier. The girl that served us seemed just fed up with life and didn't want to be there. Dirty bathrooms.

Don Ostrom

Great fresh donuts.the hard part is selecting what flavour you want. Very easy to walk out with a dozen!

Anastasia Bathory

Literally the best thing about any road trip to Edmonton from Calgary. I always make it a road trip ritual to stop at the donut mill everytime I pass it. Their Boston cream is so flipping good. I cannot for the life of me manage to find a similar donut in my own town.

Naz A

I felt like the donuts were kind of small. Nothing spectacular. We ordered a bunch of donuts and nobody offered us the box of dozen deal which would have been a better value than individual donuts.

Jake MacDonald

The Donut Mill is a must stop location if you are going to be anywhere near Red Deer. They always have their classic donut flavours but also get creative and have limited time offerings also. **Extra** Shout out to the staff member that hooked me up with an extra donut into my 1/2 dozen box. Made it so I sneakily eat one on the way home without my girlfriend knowing...

Ashley Bienia

The orange Creamsicle and raspberry bismark are amazing! Lunch prices are quite steep. But great business overall.

Stan Maj

Comfort food served by friendly staff reasonably priced.

Skip Nubla

The flavors of the donuts are superb and unreal! However, for me the dough was not as great as i expect for the price. Also, bought a dozen of them at noon, by early afternoon they were getting tough to eat.

Quinlan Brown

Hard to find real fresh cooked doughnuts, but they have them here. I enjoyed several great doughnuts in a variety of flavors, a great BLT, and good coffee on my last trip through Red Deer.

Stephie-j

This place is totally not worth the hype unfortunately. I've had donuts from Safeway that were better tasting and fresher. Kinda disappointed.

brady morland

World class donuts. Makes Tim's look like dehydrated dog biscuits. Makes Krispy Kreme look like a Donut Mill knockoff.

Brent Sellers

Food was home style classic, and the donuts are stellar! Awesome service, too. We phoned the order in while on the highway and they had it ready and waiting... and hot... When we arrived. The facility is well set-up for COVID-safety with distancing markers on the floor, sanitizer stations, plexiglass shields, and more.

Chris Coates

Pretty well known place and the doughnuts are good. Expensive but good.

Sandi Lecky

Love to come here. Such a selection of fresh made donuts. Croissants, cream filled pastries, coffee, sandwiches, soup, and more. Staff are friendly and nice, bathrooms are clean

Shaun Marcoux

Ordered a salad and this is what you get? Lol what a joke if your going to put sides on your menu make sure you put some effort into it.

Susan Roy

This is definitely not Tim Hortons and Happily so. This has more Sandwiches Soups all homemade and delicious. Dutch Windmill with great food at reasonable prices on your way to Calgary from Edmonton or wherever. A definite must stop to enjoy.

Connie Maguire

First time here, donuts werent as great as what people say they are. Lots of flavors but I found the menu to be very expensive for what you are getting

Margaret G

The plain donuts are my favourite, and the best I've had anywhere. The staff are always great too.

dr9106

Stopping at the doughnut mill is something of a tradition for my family and I. We don’t get anything but doughnuts and coffee so I’ve never tried their food, but their doughnuts are great! Highly recommended, plus support local!

Kanwar Randhawa

Got six donuts. Some of the best donuts I have ever had. Coconut flavour was my favourite. Highly suggested trying this if you are around the area or heading to Edmonton or Calgary.

Lauren Popowich

I have driven past this place a million times and we finally decided to stop and check it out. We got a 6-pack and it was the best way to try all the different kinds. Soooooo amazing! The filling is not overly sweet, great flavour, and so fluffy and creamy. Will be making this a regular stop

John Bexley

I've heard good things about this place so I thought I'd check it out for myself however, unfortunately the hype didn't work for me the donuts were on the small size and wasn't very appealing or very appetizing I won't be going back in a hurry.

Michael Stefaniw

Always a family favorite when we pass through. Tasty options. Great price and friendly staff. Washrooms were immaculate

W J

Pretty good donuts. Better than timmies IMHO. Friendly staff. They bake their donuts overnight so probably even better in the morning when they are fresher.

Melanie Chapman

Every time we go to Edmonton, the Donut Mill is always a MUST on our way home to Calgary! Their donuts are so fresh, the whip cream and other fillings are delectable, the choices are always plentiful and worth the drive! Then you discover they have a lovely deli with a variety of soups, sandwiches and other cafe style food-stuffs and your mind is officially blown! The Donut Mill is a wonder discovery that I'm happy to share with anyone who happens to be driving through Gasoline Alley in Red Deer and would like an unexpected treat ????

Mike Sokoluik

This is a must visit when passing through Red Deer. Donuts to die for!

Darnell Whittaker

Always lovely to stop in to this place on my way out of town and have even made a special trip just because. Got a BLT and some donuts; all of them were very good and the sandwich was wonderful.

Fabienne Isore

Stopped to visit as quite a few friends had said this place had amazing donuts. Visited on a Thursday afternoon few people there, local seemed clean and offered lots of parking. The staff member who served me was polite but seemed in a hurry. I picked a selection of 6 donuts, paid and headed home. The donuts were very dry, from the custard filled ones to the traditional glazed. The only positive comment i can find is that they were not overly sweet, which is rare for donuts these days. I microwaved the chocolate one which made it a tad more palatable. Sorry to say i would not stop for these again.

594marco

Went to donut mill with my dad yesterday. Older guy behind the counter was pretty rude to both of us for no reason. Took my father there a couple years ago and he just loved this place and couldn’t wait to go back. Then I take him back to nothing but attitude and rudeness. Thx buddy for treating us that way.

Quentin P

GREAT DOUGHNUTS! Friendly service. Drove from Sherwood Park for doughnuts! Our favorite stop when going south! Highly recommended!

John Ray

I love the options and the prices tasted amazing also!

Patrick Earl

We enjoy stopping in at this unique location for donuts on our way home. In my opinion, the Orange Creamsicle donut is one of their best.

Mary Sanders MacFadyen

Exactly what it says it is: they make lots of yummy flavoured donuts. They also have a lunch room or a drive- thru window If you are in a hurry.. They serve soups, sandwiches, and stews to balance out all the sugary goodness from the donuts.

Kira Kovi

The doughnuts here are always fresh, delicious, and have way too many flavors to decide on so I always end up getting a dozen or two. <3 their sandwiches are surprisingly good, and fresh. I don't live in Red Deer but I make it a point to stop here whenever I'm driving through.

Sunny M

We always stop here for donuts en route to Calgary. Great donuts, however, they're so busy now they hand out paper sheets for you to fill out when you get your donuts. Took a bit, but the donuts are still delicious.

Marcin Syska

That is the first time when I stopped there. They had great selection of donuts so instead of picking each separately I asked for assorted. What was my surprise when 25kms after I opened the dozen donuts box and saw that they picked mostly 2 of each.

Dustin Doucette

I think they may have changed their donut recipe as the last few visits didn't have that Oooooo Myyyyyyyy response it normally does.

tim callaghan

As a professional driver I don’t have time to mill around. That’s why I like donut mill. I go nuts for their donuts, good sandwiches too. It’s right in gasoline alley so I can get in and out quick so I can get back on those open roads. It would get 5 out of 5, only complaint is the price is a bit steep.

Matt Brown

Quick, friendly service and really good donuts!

Nate Staffer

Doughnuts are good, everything else was a waste of money. Stew lacked flavor and my sandwich was dry. Staff seemed overwhelmed even though there were more than adequate numbers. Care and attention are lost here.

Jessica Bonner

Really pretty good almost perfect donuts. Definitely can taste the real ingredients in these

Farsin Derakhshan

Always a must stop when driving through Gasoline Alley. Donuts are fresh and the selection and variety is great.

Shaun Grondin

Great for a pit stop, good cup of coffee and fresh donuts!! Stopped in recently for the first time on a trip from Edmonton to Calgary. Having passed the Donut Mill quite a few times in my travels I have to say I was always curious but never stopped in. Well glad I did warm greetings upon entering the store...quick efficient service and the best part is the fresh donuts! Will stop in more often.

Kelly Williams

The donuts are amazing and the chili and soups are very nice along with there homemade sandwiches made on site

Murwan Abas

Terrific donuts. Worth the stop in between the two big cities. And amazing soup too.

Jason Clevett

Always a must stop in Red Deer. More than just donuts. Soups chili and sandwiches are tasty too.

Anna Chan

The best donuts! Great variety of donut flavours and delicious sandwiches.

Marya Ak

Not sure of all the good reviewes. Went here for the first time because of the reviews and expected something extra ordinary! We tried 6 different donuts. But honestly, did not find anything very special.

Danish Peerwani

Must go if you are in Red Deer. Freshly made doughnuts and great coffee! Always some interesting new creation on offer. Always fun to try but these can be hit and miss sometimes.

Jennifer Zidek

I've seen this place passing through Red Deer so many times... grabbed a box of 6 donuts on a whim... OMG the best donuts EVER! I don't care much for sweets or donuts...I am converted. Boston cream and donut mill special - deadly. Unhappy I only got six for 3 of us... A must every time I pass through Red Deer forever now!

tolhanson

I’ve been reading where to find the best donuts in Red Deer! Drove out to gasoline alley. And found the place and bought some donuts! Best donuts in Red Deer? Hardly! They were without a doubt the worst, ( even worse than Tim’s) the driest donuts I’ve ever tasted! Fluffy? No! Tasty? No! Light? No! They were horrible, stuck in my throat type of donuts,! They were like they were 3 days old! . Won’t be bothering to ever go out of my way to try The Donut Mill’s donuts ever again! ????????????????????????????waste of time, gas and money!

Sav H

Was really pumped for these doughnuts, they look great and have good reviews but we were pretty disappointed. The doughnuts were mediocre, better than Tim's but could be better for gourmet doughnuts. We had a dozen variety doughnuts and none of them were good. Creative flavours but not good.

Shain Rezaei

Last time i was here, about 2 years ago, the donuts were AMAZING! Tried them now and i was VERY disappointed, awful, taste exactly like the donuts you get from Tim Hortons so your better off going there since there MUCH cheaper. Im guessing …

thedudevinman

An awesome place for doughnuts, soups and a few other things, the doughnuts are the best around

Sherifat Akinwonmi

Donuts and cakes are great. Loved it very good stop over for a wash room break while on a trip back to Calgary from Edmonton.

Jr Aricheta

This is my favorite donut place but a few months ago I drove from Calgary to buy a dozen apple pie donuts and none of them had any filling =/. Did somebody forget to fill the batch??

Stephanie Dijk

Got a veggie sandwich that had delicious fresh bread and was really pleased it comes stacked high with tons of vegetables! Plus they have non processed cheese options which is great in my books.

M Nikolai

I love the fresh donuts. Staff is always friendly and curtious. I've been known to make a road trip (130 km one way) many times for donuts here. If you're passing by Red Deer you NEED to stop here! If you're looking for a road trip to a donut place.. This is your stop.. ????

Lydia Bryce

Best donuts in Alberta. Really appreciate the rockin music played in the restaurant as well. A must visit when in Gasoline Alley.

Taylor Bratt

I literally drive from Edmonton to Red Deer sometimes just for donut mill! They are so good!!! Always a good selection of donuts and muffins. A perfect stop from the mountains after a day skiing or hiking as well to relax before finishing the drive to Edmonton. The butter tarts and date squares never disappoint. They also have hearty chili, yummy soups and thick sandwiches.

Ariel Pitagan

Clean and safe place to get quality doughnuts. Highly recommended!!

A B

Very disappointed! All of our donuts were very stale! Highly overrated!

Carmine Michalchuk

Best donuts I've had in a long while.

Laura McKay

First time stopping at The Donut Mill, we've travelled by several times and never stopped because of Tim's nearby. We are absolutely in love with the service, food quality and we will now be making regular stops there. Everything was so fresh and the selection was awesome. What a wonderful early morning treat!!!

Jessica

Everytime I go to edmonton or Red Deer I can’t drive past The Donut Mill. Their venetian cream donuts are my absolute favourite, they are super fluffy and the perfect amount of sweetness. Their rolo donut paired with a Starbucks White Mocha is the wave!!

Coulette Haineault

Favorite place to stop for The best donut's in town. Love the sausage rolls there too

Ross Kriel

Driving back from the hockey game in Edmonton and we pull over to grab some coffee. Incredible place and a must if driving Edmonton to Calgary and want to stop for a break.

Jeremy Gair

If you want donuts a cut above the typical Timmies trope, this is where you go around here. They will cost you a bit more. In recompense you will get less greasy, richer, and "fluffier" donuts that will not leave you wondering just how much fryer oil is now floating about your innards. Don't forget they sell sandwiches, soups, etc. All marquee level nomness. So is it worth the small trip out of Red Deer and the minimal increase in price... oh yeah... you better believe it is! Noice!

Sunny Chau

Definitely a worthwhile stopover in Red Deer travelling between Edmonton and Calgary if you crave doughnuts. They offer overwhelming choices and the huge variety of fillings could make decisions tough. Flavors of the month have never disappointed

Devon Glidden

Delicious donuts and a generous selection. We can not pass by without stopping in for a box of donuts. We have even conditioned our friends to bring some back for us when passing through Gasoline Alley! Always busy and always great! They make a mean eclair! My mouth is watering even writing this review. Anyone passing through and coming to Airdrie, bring me a lovely selection! Thanks ????

Danielle Palmer

We got the Donut Mill to cater donuts for our wedding this past weekend. The communication I had with Kathleen was excellent - quick and efficient responses! We were able to pay for the donuts in advance and have a guest pick them up fresh for us on the day of. The donuts themselves were a HIT! All our guests loved them! We ordered enough for 2 per guest and almost all were gone by the end of the night! Crowd favourites were the Old Fashion Cinnamon Sugar and the Apple Pie (but really you can't go wrong with any).

Benz Moe

Fresh amazing donuts that are always leaving you with a smile. Awesome treat to buy on your way from or to Calgary and Edmonton, and of course if your in Red Deer. Amazing service. The place is family owned so quality is always amazing. Would recommend and will be returning.

Zohra F

Their donuts are so soft and fresh. You cant just have one!! We also ordered cheese scone, egg salad sandwich and a mini pizza and they were all amazing!

Kaz Savitzski

Donut Mill is the place to stop if you're going through Red Deer. It has fresh donuts twice daily and they make it fun and easy to get a delicious snack.

Muhammad Patel

Really good variety of donuts. Pity the cashier messed up my order and gave the wrong donut. Edit: had a much better experience with my recent visit.

Rob Siebert

Loved it here. Great food, and the donuts were awesome. Why go to a fast food chain. Get the real thing. We will be back.

megan bates

Amazing selections and soft delicious doughnuts

Mon J.

I tried some donuts, those are great. Oreo and white chocolate one are my favourite.

THE TANK

If you want speciality donuts you won't find anywhere else and big Apple fritters ...price is a bit high but over all really good stuff

Doughnut Please

Good selection, cute iconic decor and exterior. A must see

Ernestine Cattleman

Tasty stews and biscuits, wide variety of delicious pastries ???? and donuts ???? !

Keegan McVittie

Had a pleasantly healthy meal (aside from the donut, which was also good) and was helped very quickly. The staff were also patient with me as I took a minute to figure out my order, first time being there and I will be going again.

Maxwell Adu

Good customer service, and delicious ,tasty donuts are in there.

Joey Johnstone

Been around for years good doughnuts clean ,organized Worth stopping. Eat at Glenns , grab doughnuts at the Mill When I was younger both owners were sisters.

Pete

Always love their donuts. Oreo donuts have Oreo mixed into the cream filling! Had a sandwich for the first time from them. Pretty good! Very authentic, somehow. Like, not fast food, more like something I would have got from my grandma's. Should have taken a picture.

Chase Mayer

The washroom haven't changed, dirty pre-covid and still dirty now. My sandwhich had two pathetic slices of turkey on it but sure had a TON of pickles. Nice dry sandwhich, yum! Order soup? You get a choice of cackers OR a biscuit/bun. Really? Crackers are ridiculously cheap in bulk. Placing the order was somewhat difficult for no apparent reason. Good doughnuts though...

Brett Jamieson

Definitely the best donuts in the area, as they are a "bit" more homemade than Timmies. Interesting and tasty donuts, decent coffee, and other snacks, sandwiches and the such. It is a bit of a traditional place, meaning it doesn't seem to have changed in years and years, neither interior nor their way of doing things. This is not a bad thing...gives it the right charm...

Lloyd Zilinski

Very good beef vegetable soup and BLT sandwich. Apple pie doughnuts, Rolo doughnuts, and Raspberry Bismarcks were all excellent. Great place located in Gasoline Alley in Red Deer, Alberta along Highway 2. Excellent stop for a light lunch or snack, or to just pick up a dozen doughnuts for the road trip. The doughnuts are pricier than the major chains' wares but are definitely worth the price difference.

Chris Thomson

Honestly the donuts were the same quality as tim Hortons, good but definitely not worth almost $11 for 6. They did have alot of choice but nothing very impressive.

Ryan Kuffler

Absolutely amazing stew, egg salad sandwiches and the donuts are still baked in store unlike some other stores. Top notch place!

Rod Kruetzfeld

Home town bakery gone downhill. It’s always a must stop with the family but for the last 5 visits the content has consistently disappointed. Is it stale, yesterday’s product that I always end up getting? Or are they baking someone else’s poor product now? It used to be fresh light and moist doughnuts but now they are consistently dry and chewy. It’s now on par with Tim Hortons! Washroom..never a high point of the visit, busy and not so great. I hope they come back to their previous quality!

Andrew Van Luven

I think I just got over hyped about this place. The donuts I ordered were good, but I was expecting more. Personally I would not be going out of my way to order here, but if you are already going to the area I would recommend it.

Pat Herren

This is by far my favorite doughnut shop in Alberta. It's in a great spot and always has a good selection of sandwiches, soups, drinks, and of course, doughnuts!!!

Muhammad O Anjum

We always stop here on our way to Calgary and they never disappoint. Best donuts hands down.

carol wildcat

If you ever have to stop in gasoline alley in red deer stop here for the best donuts and yes coffee. Great chili atew comfort food. Homestyle atmosphere. Have a donut all homemade you will be pleasantly sutprised

Private Secret

We were at your restaurant today and the whole dining area was a big mess, floors dirty, the tables and seats not clean. The staff were rather rude and unfriendly, like it was a inconvenience to them. The coffee is too expensive that was not hot enough and the donuts were tasteless and taste old. The owner needs to have a talk with employees and tell them how to treat customers. When we were there the staff were closing down sections and this was 745 pm. This is stupid to be shutting down and make customers feel that they have to leave!!

Kris

Been here for Years, Tim's needs to get with it...

Sarah Case

Fantastic donuts - I dare say the best in Alberta. We think the chili & beef stew in the sourdough bread bowls are a must try. Good homestyle cooking!

Ashley Goodman

It should be a criminal offence to drive through Red Deer without stopping for a doughnut here. If you think Tim Horton's is good - you might not actually like it here because these doughnuts aren't frozen and reheated. But if you're into fresh delicious baked goods, they've got you covered. Coffee's good too, but that's just a bonus.

Kaitlin Schmigelski

We stopped in on the way through to Banff. I had the stew with a biscuit it was very good. The meat was done well and the biscuit was the perfect amount of sweet. I had the vanilla lemon donut. The lemon was perfect and it tasted great with the vanilla. Definitely a good place to stop if you're passing through.

Zishaan Merali

Quick moving line, despite not having everything on the shelf the donuts that we did choose were still absolutely excellent. Be warned this is a donut shop, not a tim hortons. Donuts are $2 each but better deals on bulk. They also have a sub station. Excellent time while I was there.

Admin Dodo

Everyone raved how amazing it was here, but the donuts were so hard and dry you could skip them across a pond. Little selection, tasteless blocks of batter...

Opie C

I always go here on road trips but I will hesitate to go next time I’m in the area. Yesterday the older male cashier was super cold and rude to me and made sure to package all 3 of my donuts upside down so that the sprinkles all fell off and the filling all came out. Pretty sure he did that on purpose too. I had to fix all of them before dropping them off to my friend who I was attempting to cheer up. Miserable guy and negative energy, if you go make sure you pass on him and wait for the female cashiers as they’re way nicer.

Walter Smith

Went on a road trip and stopped at Donut Mill for lunch. Had a sandwich and soup with a brownie. Service was perfect and food was fresh and tasted homemade. Wife visited the teahouse next door picked keepsakes and thought it was nice little shop.

Maximuus Intanios

Soooooo many donuts!!! Rolo, Chocolate Oreo, Regular Oreo, Boston Cream......OMG! I'll have to return for more. Run the Donut gauntlet at The Donut Mill. ???????? Always a favourite place for great coffee, donuts and other edibles. Wish you had a location in North Red Deer!

Liam Harrison

Could smacked my two donuts together to start a fire, not sure how you can sell rocks and market them as donuts.

Dallas Strutt

Best Donut place in Alberta. Drive out and go see them, well worth it.

Timothy Samis

Not only the vast selection of Donuts, but Great Soup and Sandwiches!!

Marcus Wenzel

It's a mill but get this, they make donuts

Steven Schunker

Always a pleasure to shop here. Great friendly service. Outstanding selection of quality donuts.
