I’ve decided this will be my last review of White Goose. Am I bored? No. Has their quality fallen? Of course not. But talking and posting about White Goose Bistro by this point is like walking up to random strangers and discussing how awesome Star Wars is. I mean everyone gets it, we’re all on the same page. It’s one of those natural laws we accept as fact. Grass is green; water is wet; sky is blue; women have secrets; White Goose is an amazing restaurant. In my recent article covering the Northern Taste challenge, I compared head chef Ryan Cyre to Thannos from Guardians of the Galaxy. White Goose had the best table at the recent Summerfest Taste Pavilion and won the recent BCNE Northern Taste Challenge. My recent visit to their actual restaurant was marked by a visit by actor Ron Perlman and celebrity chef/author Bob Blumer. And even with those eminent patrons, Ryan still made a point to approach my table personally to discuss a dish I had ordered. There are great chefs in Prince George—fact—but I have yet to find one with the passion for food like Ryan. He lives and breathes good food. I doubt he sweats sweat; more likely he sweats béchamel sauce…which…admittedly sounds disgusting, but you get my point. And he gathers around him colleagues that match his passion, that strive for that high quality. This includes his sister, running front of house, who could also be a better baker than him. In a previous review I had mentioned that White Goose was a revolutionary experience for such a small town, nailing a coffin in the accusation that restaurants in Prince George cannot be and should not be critiqued on the same grounds as those in Vancouver and that local restaurants can never hope to achieve the echelon of quality boasted by the likes of celebrity chefs and Michelin star establishments in larger cities. I also mentioned that White Goose should be that special place you take your loved one for birthdays and anniversaries, and not where you take a girl you met the day before on your first date. It’s a foodie’s heaven, and when I die far in the future from, hopefully, a failed heart after a night of constant debauchery on my 99th birthday, and I gain the Matrix-like ability to construct my own heaven like Robin Williams in What Dreams May Come (great, now I’m sad), there will be a spot where a White Goose will sprout…because it wouldn’t be a heaven without it. And that would be the end of it, a proper close to the review, but I love gushing about the food. I started with the grilled polenta served with a mouth-watering porcini mushroom reduction and followed that with seared tuna with grilled risotto. The main was also fringed by a fistful of spring beans, which I usually don’t finish but totally cleaned up. There was a dessert, I remember, but didn’t take a photo of it, chocolate cake with butter pecan sauce I believe. Now don’t get me wrong, I still love North 54 and Twisted Cork, but I plan my year around the days I can save up for White Goose. It’s just worth it. And returning back to the Star Wars metaphor, sure, every year films get made that win best picture Oscars, and that’s all good, but Star Wars is just…well…Star Wars. …unless JJ Abrams screws it up…which he totally could. Just saying.

We were a large group of 12 which tends to be a problem for most places. The service was excellent, but the food was average. One meal was sent back and a few came like warm. Some places can manage a large group, some can't. Unfortunately on this night the food was a fail inspite of the service being pretty darn good.

It's been 3 weeks since we ate at the White Goose Bistro and I still think about the ravioli on special that I got to eat. It was delicious. Everyone from our table loved their food. The service was phenomenal. I honestly don't have a negative thing to say about the experience. It is for sure one of the gems of Prince George.

This is my favorite restaurant when I want to treat myself or my family. We get the 5 course chefs choice dinner and we have not been disappointed yet! We have also never had the same thing twice! Chef Ryan and his team in the kitchen work magic with food, while Fallon and her team up front make everyone feel like they are family. This is always the first place I recommend when people ask me where they should eat.

Got the surf and turf for 2. I asked for medium rare steak. It was grey and very well done. Looked like they just cooked one steak and cut it in half. Scallops were raw, entire plate was cold, and the rest of the seafood was salty as hell. For $100 I expected it to be a little better than that.

LOBSTER NACHOS. These were some of the most delicious and most unique nachos I've had served with salsa and a dill sauce. Afterwards we had a salmon bowl and risotto, both tasty. Excellent service from attentive and friendly staff. A must visit for a fancy date night.

Took my wife here for her birthday lunch. I have lived here almost 20 years and this was my first time. Believe me, it won't be the last. The food was excellent and the service wonderful. The price was OK to. The nice thing about the White Goose is they have an express menu designed for lunch. They will have you in and out for lunch. Try the deep fried pickles!

The steak tenderloin here is hands down the best steak I have ever experienced in my life. You will be shooting yourself in the foot and crying in front of your date when you order the 6 ounce and realize you could have had two more ounces of this succulent slab of texture defying beef. I enjoyed it so much I had to write my one and only ever review so others can see they won't regret getting it.

Me and my sister went to this restaurant and ordered some appetizers from there menu. There food was delicious. We also had their cheese cake it is to die for!! So good would definitely recommend and go back.

A group of us from work come for lunch occasionally. The food is usually good but the vegetarians and vegans in our office stay away because almost everything on the menu has meat or dairy in it. Yes you can order fries or a salad with the cheese picked out of it but this is 2019, the world is changing. Try to keep up. Have some imagination with your menu. A member of my group discreetly told the server (who smelled like cigarette smoke) there was a fly in her water. Instead of quietly removing it and replacing it she made jokes before finally taking it away. A couple of minutes later a man at the next table complained of lipstick being on his waterglass. Again more jokes. This is clearly a regular occurrence if the waitress has uncomfortable jokes ready for these occassions. I'm recommending a different restaurant.

This review is based strictly on the service as I wasn't there and cannot speak to the food. I organized a large group to have dinner at the White Goose and the party size was 4 less than I had originally stated to the staff. I heard from those at the dinner that the waitress was irritated with change in group size and while I understand that frustration I don't agree with how she handled it. The waitress seemed to bring up this frustration, in an off-handed way several times when attending to the table, even when my group apologized for this change (wasn't their fault) and it left a bad taste in their mouth. As a result of this, I won't be organizing dinner at the White Goose again and I was disappointed that the group had this experience.

Our anniversary dinner there was fantastic. Some of the best food I've ever had, not just in PG, but anywhere in the world, and I've been to 40 countries. They seem a bit shortstaffed on servers, but other than that I can't recommend the restaurant enough based on the quality of the food alone. The mussels and the steak were the best.

So i include pictures of my meal and Calamari that we ordered as an appetizer, my meal was I think called the Mediterranean Angel hair pasta and it was absolutely delicious, the decor is nice the food was fantastic and the only downside is the price saying that it is a fair price for the quality of food and not particularly expensive. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a slightly upscale dining experience with the budget to pay 20 to 30 dollars per entre. Just a great experience the wait staff was friendly and I would thoroughly recommend.

White goose bistro is PG's best fine dining experience. It focuses on what truly matters, an expansive menu, amazing entrees, wonderful service and a great wine selection. We've had a waitress named Sara on several occasions and she is brimming with a "joie de vie" that is so refreshing and fun. I've now tried the duck and the lamb and both were fantastic. I can't wait to go back and try something else.

Well I've been here before for a company dinner (2 years ago) and it was amazing. Both service and food. I might have caught them on a off night this time but I don't think my experience was at the same level of their Google rating. They did get us a spot promptly which was nice since it's so tough during covid. However it did take 20 mins to even take our order. The food came quickly but unfortunately our server forgot to have cutlery ready or set. I had the special which the veggies were good, but the Wellington soggy (the outer pastry) and the risotto cake had a thick hard to chew crust. My partner's seafood pasta was overcooked. Both the shrimp and the pasta. This is a nice place with a higher end dining experience. The problem was is after we received the meal..... We never heard from our server again. The price is high, so my food and service need to follow suit.

Went for a nice dinner with my wife on a Saturday night. Place was not busy there were about 4 other tables with customers at them. The AC was on and it was very cold where we were seated; we asked (actually felt like we made a nuisance of ourselves) to have it turned off about four times as it kept getting turned back on. We only had the one course and it took over an hour to get served. I had the beef short ribs that didn’t have any ribs in it for some reason. My wife had a pasta dish. Quality of food was ok but we were cold and annoyed that it took so long to be served. We won’t be back for supper, will try lunch if there is a next time.

The food here is amazing. We had the 5 course dinner, and every single course was insanely good. We left completely stuffed and the quality and tase was impeccable. All for under $150 for both of us. The service was very good, as it should be considering you're probably spending a few extra dollars if you're dining here. The atmosphere was good as there were only a few tables seated when we got there. One of the things I liked the most is you didn't have music blasting the whole time. Most of the time it was smooth jazzy misic and that created a nice ambience. Will be back for sure.

I never expected to find great food like this in PG. There is passion behind these dishes. My husband and I had the 5 course dinner for $70 each (they offer wine pairing for an additional $35 each) and we were so pleasantly surprised. We'll make sure to come here every time we make the drive to town. Simply amazing food and perfect portions. I can't remember the names of the dishes so bare with me. Every dish in the 5 course is a surprise. 1) First dish was a puff pastry type lobster pizza. Amazing first impression. 2) A tomato based, well blended salad, 2 cheeses, balsamic dressing. I enjoyed it overall. 3) A pasta with bison meat. Another amazing dish. 4) Perfectly cooked beef tenderloin on a bed of mashed potatoes with crab and a beautiful sauce on top. The vegetables were delicious as well. 5) Chocolate cake with caramel sauce and ice cream. Seemed like a simple dish, and to be honest, I'm personally not a big fan of chocolate cake, but this... This cake made me fall in love.

Same experience as John Barfoot. Same platter, steak was a piece of grizzle, cut in half. Scallops were cold, not seared, just bright white. Maybe they were steamed but they were the most bland scallops I have ever tasted, and I enjoy scallop sashimi. The cheese bread appetizer was cooked so poorly that it was cold, and you could see the individual grated cheese on it. Maybe keep it in the oven until the cheese melts? Might be hard for them? waitress was rude and smelled like cigarettes. Wont be going again.

The service was absolutely horrible, our server never checked in us for drinks, we had to request refills for drinks, silverware was thrown down on the table, our dinner was just thrown on our table. The dress code for staff should be a little more than yoga pants and leggings. When you are paying $30 plus a plate you would think the service would be outstanding. I would not reccomend this restaurant just based on service alone. The food was very good. Thank you for the delicious Seafood pasta. You would think in this day age with small businesses suffering hardship, they would make sure they were in their "A" game.

A bit overrated however it’s possible we went in on a bad night. Table was wobbly, service was quite slow, food was sub-par. My chicken breast was freezer burnt and my scallops were way over cooked. Worth giving another try and I’ll update this if the second experience is better.

Amazing meal - seafood bruschetta, prawns and shrimp, Basil and tomatoes, balsamic reduction dancing in each bite. The main was black cod finished with rosemary brown butter, perfection. The cod was accompanied by a risotto patty that was both moist and crunchy - totally unique in my experience! I finished the meal with a warm chocolate cake, smothered in butter pecan sauce and ice cream. It was a no phone dinner or I would have taken pictures. ????????

Above average as described by other folks here. Most of the food was good, unfortunately I had raw puff pastry in my leg of lamb Wellington which the staff were kind enough to address. Otherwise a small and ambient establishment, definitely worth a visit.

The restaurant is nice and menu is good . But the food is average , I didn't like their preparation . They can use fresh ingredients to make it more flavourful . From my first dining experience , I won't be returning to this place .

I was very excited to come here since I've heard great things but it just wasn't good. The service was mediocre, not that nice of a lady and the food was not tasty at all. I ordered the truffle pesto pasta and there was absolutely no flavour, extremely bland, and the chicken had no seasoning whatsoever. Also, the sauce was overflowing so the pasta was basically a soup cause they didn't reduce it properly. The fact that I spent $80 on something so bad was really upsetting. Super disappointed in this place.

Absolutely beautiful gourmet experience in a cozy little corner of downtown PG. Perfect date night spot as there is an option for a 5 course meal and private seating. Food is amazing and fresh. Has fried pickles. Highly recommend.
