Quaint little diner; home made food; local beef, chicken and pork. The service was also excellent. Better for a couple looking to try new local spots, as opposed to a family with kids. However, for kids, they'll pretty much make up anything from ingredients on the menu. The hamburger was extraordinary and the house cut fries were perfect! Unfortunately, they were out of chicken when we visited.

Just stopped in for a bite of lunch before heading to the ferry. Fish and chips were great and the hot chicken sandwich was delicious. Got the small and still had leftovers. Service was very friendly. Highly recommend not driving by.

It’s really 4-1/2 stars. Wonderfull place. I’ve had about 5 or 6 meals and they all were excellent. The bacon is awesome the chips are perfect. Fish is very good. Coffee hot and fresh. I recommend this place.

We were there on a Monday afternoon and we didn’t have many options but the food quality and the level of service was amazing!! We were given a free appetizer and the server was the funniest lady, her jokes and conversation were worth going for alone. I would suggest to go on the weekend maybe for more choice. But I would recommend this place to anyone visiting PEI

My girlfriend Caroline and I enjoyed stellar service, and some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had! Thanks so much for the hot cuppa and the even warmer welcome! Round 2: We finally made it back, and immediately ordered another round of fish and chips. Lol. I had so very much wanted to try something else such as the Irish breakfast, but once I saw another patron served the fish and chips... I couldn’t help myself and ordered a two piece. It became my supper as well. Caroline made our visit so much fun! Round 3: We reserved a table and headed up to the restaurant for the Irish Breakfast complete with Irish white and black pudding. Caroline and I simply loved the white pudding, but we both agreed that neither of us would have shared our black pudding. It had a distinctive flavour to it that was wholly new to me. The soda bread she serves as part of the breakfast was wonderful, and I found myself savouring the flavour and texture of the bread, especially those bits that had become a heavier crust on the grill. I went through the entire pot ow tea while my girlfriend Caroline’s coffee cup never ran dry. Round 4: We looked at the menu, but I had already decided I wanted another lovely Irish Breakfast again, as did Caroline, and today there was some lovely store baked bread. Caroline called it raisin bread, but I don’t remember any raisins, just lovely butter topped thick bread. I had a strawberry tart with cream (more of a custard...) that was heavenly! There was a magnificent strawberry compote at the bottom of all that lovely cream! Wow! Round 47: If you walk in and Caroline has “brown sweet bread” in the display case, order that with your meal. I enjoyed it so much. Today my girlfriend Caroline and I had the ragout of pork and an Irish breakfast fry up. The show stopper was the pork sausage patty with mace that reminded me of the English Bangers I used to make. Absolutely brilliant and well received. Her home cured bacon was wonderful. I enjoyed everything the I ate today, including the lemon Bakewell tart and the bits of cinnamon bun that my girlfriend shared with me. The food is fantastic but is outshined by the service and atmosphere.

Everything I have tried at The Home Plate has been amazing. Had the burger today and holy moly it's amazing! One of the best burgers I've ever had. It's huge and delicious. The tarts are also to die for. Never disappointed.

Home cooked meal with lovely staff. Free Range Pork and chicken used. The Chicken Pot Pie is a mile high and the English Breakfast was the best I have ever had!

I am sure the food is generally very good here. I believe those in this industry need to hear compliments, but must be also accepting of constructive criticism when they make a mistake and take care of their customers. My two kids and I were in Home Plate on Friday July 19, 2019 and ordered a piece of cheese cake and chocolate cake to share. All three of us noticed an extremely bitter taste to the chocolate cake. I told the young waitress and she said it is " the cocoa". It was not the cocoa! This tasted like rubber. The owner came over and dismissed our claims saying "look how you devoured it!" We ate most of it to see if the taste was just in part of the cake. It was not. Most restaurants will not charge you or offer you something else if you are not satisfied. This is standard restaurant etiquette. To the owner who acted pretentiously like it was not possible for a mistake to be made in her kitchen: Take care of all of your customers who are paying your salary and make sure they leave satisfied if they have a problem.

Worst experience, worst service. After waiting 50mins our meals were merely heated up in the microwave and there was only one other customer in the restaurant. We had a few bites then trashed the rest. Not homemade as advertised.

Extremely rude service. The lady shouted at us for not having the “proper vaccination document” although we showed vaccination proof from three different provinces. Although I understand the strict at times like this, it’s still not acceptable for being shouted at for doing nothing wrong. The funniest part was that the owner was not even wearing a mask properly ???? Would give zero stars if I can!

The perfect example of Island hospitality! We’re on vacation in PEI and I went on a search for bagels! I went in Home plate hoping they might have some. This isn’t an item they sell. She went pulled the bagels she uses for her guests in the restaurant and sold them to us (in addition to many other goodies) and saved me from further driving in the search for bagels! What a place !!

We had lunch at Home Plate Restaurant in Murray River PEI today and experienced wonderful hospitality from our host and cook Caroline (pictured here). Best English style fish and chips (also pictured here) I have had in a very long time- and probably ever. My husband enjoyed the full Irish breakfast. We left with homemade glazed almond tarts and brown Irish soda bread. Highly recommend this establishment. Thanks Caroline and best of luck with this venture.

Fish was good but everything else was … meh. It took a very long time to get our food and it was disappointing when we did get it. they had no gravy for hot sandwich, the ham & scallop potatoe dinner was reheated and it only lukewarm, no lemon or tartar sauce with the fish & chips and the chips were a weird combo of regular fries and large potatoe wedges. There was no dessert options. Service was friendly enough but minimal. Maybe a better lunch then dinner spot or it was just an off day, given the positive reviews I was expecting much more.

Five of us had dinner here and all had the fish and chips. Some of the best fish and chips we've had around here by far!!! Prices are reasonable too. Also some great homemade desserts, I recommend the Bakewell Tarts!.
