Nice looking place, good coffee, but their debit machine is filthy beyond filthy. Hand to wash my hands when I got back to our place. Hesitant to try the food here because of that. If that's how dirty their debit machine is, makes me wonder regarding the food prep area, the staff & their hand washing frequency & the food itself.

Way over priced for a single coffee, and no one in my group of 8 actually likes the chocolate they put in the mocha and chocolate chai. They only use teabags for the chai, and not the good loose tea, and they don't prepare it properly or let it steep. They shouldn't make you pay out the a#$ for s#|+ that's barely sub par. It pisses me of majorly when people do that

Had a chai latte and a dark roast drip coffee. Chai latte had literally no flavour at all, tasted like warm milk, and the coffee tasted burnt. I’m sure they have other good food and drinks as it’s very busy and seems popular but I would definitely skip the chai and coffee! Not sure what all the hype is about, hope you have better luck than us if you go???? staff seemed nice though!

Best vegan breakfast bowl I've had so far! I had the Curried Tofu Scramble which is vegan when visiting Powell River and looking for a breakfast spot. The bowl was not only delicious, but, it was also filling! The presentation was colourful and very nice... since I like eating a variety of vegetables it was perfect, the spiciness was nice and not overwhelming, the potatoes and tofu scramble were perfect. The sauce just brought it all together so well. I tried to replicate this bowl when I got home, but, I couldn't do it justice. The coffee is very good too!!

Basecamp has a climber/Mexican atmosphere yet there were no mountains near by that would require a basecamp from which to submit from. They have an espresso machine, which makes the most overrated mocha that tastes like water with a hint of coffee dust.

Popped in here after returning from Lund and waiting in the ferry to head back to Comox. Great shop that totally had their look and feel dialed and love their branding. I was able to enjoy a snack made fresh and a great coffee with solid free wifi working on my laptop in a funky and cool atmosphere. If I’m in town waiting on the ferry again I will walk over here again for sure

Base Camp is a great place for both coffee and food. It's in the center of town and the food is unique but amazingly good. I suggest going to this place if you want to have some coffee and food with a good friend.

If you were to compare Coastal Cookery to Base Camp over all I would have to pick Base Camp all their food is local and FRESH and not frozen and brought in thawed and served. They make the best sandwiches there too. Plus if your looking for something really yummy in the morning get the Breakfast Bowl it's to die for and it fills you with all the nutrients you need in the morning. Plus they have the best freshly made latte with nutmeg and cinnamon on top. Doesn't taste any better anywhere else. If your there for a drink at Lunch I suggest a Boylans, my favourite flavour is Black Cherry or Birch Beer.

Was so stoked to come across the Old Town and downtown locations when visiting Powell River. The sweet and delicious elixir of life (coffee), yummy and filling breakfast wrap, treats and a funky, uplifting, artsy atmosphere to chill and do computer work. Learned a lot about Big Foot and mountaineering from the barista at the Old Town location too! Highly recommend!!!
