To many workers and their huge carts taking up nearly 2 entire isles , they never should have to gotten rid of the double child carts it makes it so hard with parents with more then one kid. When super busy they don't open enough tills people were going into isles and there was only 2 tills open plus the items 1-8 horrible but hey they always have great sales so that's the only reason for 2 stars.

Need more options for refrigerated non-dairy / plant based milk. Seems like past few months theres only ever Almond Milk of some sort any time we go so we started going to other grocery store or out of town instead for most grocery items now... Veggies all come from the States most of the time. Not a great selection of produce. There are similar items all over the store. E.g. coconut milk is in 2 or 3 different places throughout the store. They put vegan meat substitutes in the meat area

We make a point to drive in from Fort Erie because the local No Frills here is an absolute joke. I please with the owner of this Food Basics. To please open a store in Fort Erie. You're only competition is the awful No Frills and over priced Sobey's.

Cashier was insanely nasty to me for no reason. Between masks, giant plexiglass shields and the abundance of noise pollution of the busiest time of day I could not hear ANYTHING she was saying at a whisper. I bought 4 items, had to wait for the person in front me. The tap debit failed and after my payment did go through refused to let me pick up my items and pass the person that was infront because 'covid' and social distancing...but she still used the same food belt and put my items on the same belt as the other customer (without cleaning it) ????

The store is poorly laid out with narrow aisles and displays in those narrow aisles and at the ends. Near impossible to get around in. The parking lot was recently redone but has the same issue. Narrow aisles and the street parking by the entrance means you're taking your life in your hands leaving that way. There is parking at the side which is better and there is a side and back entrance as well which are much safer. The quality of the products is decent and the international aisle has every other non-specialized grocery store beat but for me it isn't worth the hassle

Staff are useless. They constantly have bare shelves on "lock down" prices but refuse to rain check them or substitute for sizes in stock. Contacted head office only to waste my time playing phone tag with the manager. Wasn't worth my time to pursue my poor experiences shopping here. I'll only stop here for quick visits for the essentials now, which I'm getting less and less inclined to do so with their long line up times. You're usually lucky if there are 2 tills open on week days. If it weren't for no frills no longer taking visa I'd probably never have a reason to shop here

I am not happy at all w the care I had yesterday I had a voucher given to me by Santa's helpers for 45$ and my total was 35$ so I thought I would be given back the voucher or the cashier should have told me no u need to spend all of it I would have gladly gone back and gotten more food instead she rang it threw and I lost the 10$ I had remaining maybe to her that's not alot of money but when u r on disability and have to humiliate yourself at the food bank and ask for help it's alot to me I am extremely upset and will not be shopping here again

Meat choice is mostly pork. The usual fruit and veggies, small international section. Limited selection but I guess that’s why it’s called “food basic” and price is good. I was in the store today and I saw at least 4 employees walking around stocking shelves and touching and breathing on produce. Never enough cashiers on duty. Be prepared to wait min half hour in line only for the teller to put her next cashier sign up in front of you. So yoh move over to next cashier and she puts her sign up in front of you too. I left my full cart of groceries and went to Sobeys where I shall continue to do my shopping.

Of the two more affordable grocery options in Port Colborne, Food Basics has better produce. The organic options are slim, as are the fresh herbs. The lines at the cash always move quickly and are rarely blocking the aisle. Extra pleased with this location because, unlike its main competitor in town, provides sanitary wipes at the entrance for cleaning your cart.

I wanted to make sure I left a GLOWING review, as I stopped in yesterday quickly, for ALL things "CAT GRASS", the Sobey's in FORT ERIE has priced it out of the market ! Asked if they had wasabi, sure enough :) Then picked up this and that so my initial 2.50 purchase, turned out to be around $20.00. So YES being pleasant MAKES a difference. The staff there werr extremely helpful and very pleasant! The store is clean, worth the drive to Port Colborne ! I must mention too as someone else mentioned points & yes they do add up, but when I get ATTITUDE from the express line cashier, at the No Frills in town, I would rather great service over POINTS ! Keep up the good work @Basics in Port !

For some time now fresh veggies/fruits have not been up to par, and so many products simply disappeared. I was pretty ticked. But: looking closer, I find it is not all the store's fault. They're actually making the best of what head office sends them. And staff is really trying to be helpful and pleasant. Has anyone noticed how grocery stores move products around? This is supposed to veil our eyes to the fact that we are having mega shortages. And now, it's floating around the water cooler that prices are going to skyrocket in the coming days. So many small businesses gone, while multinationals are raking in record profits. I think I'll stick up on basic stuff - that's if the store has any stock .... So for staff efforts I rate the store a 5

Normally, I love this location, last night, I went at 8:50 pm to pick up some milk. As I approached the door, a worker told me the store was closed. Why have a posted closing time of 9pm if you don't plan to honour it? Not pleased. I'm sure 7-11 enjoyed my business.

Not sure why this is happening but over the last 3 to 4 months I have been finding more empty shelves in this store than usual. Today I went in to purchase Butter Milk and found only 1 left on the shelf. I also noticed other shelves empty for other kinds of milk. Also been in this store for sales items which were not to be found. I dont know why they advertise sales items but never carry enough.
