My wife and I were traveling through the Maritimes a few years ago. Happened to stop in Pictou for the night, and wandered around the town next morning. Just happened to go into this store, thinking that I could kill some time while my wife was window shopping somewhere else. She ended up buying a serrated edge knife here that day, then ordered another one (large butcher style knife) to be shipped to BC (where we live). Both knives hold their edge quite well (serrated knife blade hasn't been touched since we bought it and it can still slice tomatoes paper-thin).

Amazing experience, bought a #3 seconds. Don't see anything wrong with it. Amazing quality, feels great in the hand and cuts like butter. The customer service is top notch, I requested a diffrent sheath in the notes but it was sent with the normal one. They offered to send a new one out postage paid.

Ordered a knife, they didn't have the proper sheath material which I understand can happen due to material shortages. I didn't receive a invoice from my order, couldn't confirm the item I purchased at all until it showed up and was the wrong knife steel, rusted the very first day I used it due to wet conditions. The customer service rarely responds with anything other than copy and pasted company nonsense. Knife has a sharp blade but so does a box cutter. Save your money for someone who deserves it.

Not the best place to buy a knife. The service is the worst. Very slow, missed details, customer service nightmare. In the end I received a credit but lost 25%. Buy local to where you live or order from Amazon. I thought supporting a Canadian company was the way to go. Never again.

Apparently, no one at Grohmann understands the concepts of either quality assurance or customer service. I purchased one of their products six weeks ago—it was quite obviously defective. I was advised by Melody to return it (at my cost); I have yet to receive a replacement. Both the USPS and Canada Post have verified that the parcel was delivered and yet everyone at Grohmann denies having taken delivery of the item. The product should never have been shipped in the first place (it was defective), I should not have had to pay for international return shipping on a defective item, and my integrity should not be questioned by Grohmann employees. I am left with one choice; I'm going to dispute the charges with my financial institution. It's rather sad that this is what customer service has been reduced to. My advice to any potential Grohmann customers—don't buy this rubbish!!!

Received 2 knives as an Xmas gift from a family member. My family member expressed his displeasure with the customer service when he ordered the knives. Now I have the knives and 1 is flawed. Sent an email and pictures of the damage with no response. Customer service sucks or is non existent. I was in the store to pick up the knives and also felt less than welcome. If I could give a 0 star I would have. I will never do business with them again.

This is the best place to pick up quality knives at a decent price. The staff give you room to look around, don't pester you and can answer any questions you might have. If you are a chef or perhaps looking for a good pocket knife check this place out!

Have had a DH Russell Trout knife for almost 45 years. Visited the factory here and asked if they could do a factory resharpen whilst we did the tour. Was asked to leave it for a few hours and come back. They gave my beloved belt knife a “Spa Day”! It was sharpened, metal buffed, rosewood handle polished and waxed. Wow. What service. Wish we had brought our even older knife along as well! Bought a beautiful chef’s knife on the way out as well.

The quality is not the same as past years. The leather sheaths are no longer solid cowhide. The blade finishing looks subpar and the knife was not a factory second. I had to refinish the knife as the blade was not polished properly and the handle had rough edges. I discarded the sheath. Grohmann what happened!?

Disappointed....showed up to the factory this morning, a family of 5 from Alberta...and they would not give us a tour because we did not have a reservation. They have great knives....I own 7....but I have bought my last.

Will never buy or recommend anything from them again. Warranty work it crappie. The repair job they did on the $100 knife has all kinds of glue residue and clamp impressions from holding the knife together. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

The Grohmann store in Pictou is a favourite stop whenever I travel through that area. The knives are excellent quality, and I have now accumulated 8, plus a couple more purchased to give as gifts. Prices can seem high if you're used to buying cheap imports, but considering the quality and workmanship which are involved, it's not unreasonable, plus they last nearly forever if you care for them well. My oldest Grohmann is 11 years old and going strong despite regular kitchen use. My favourite part of any visit is browsing the "seconds" clearance displays in hopes of finding a knife that I desire priced 50% off. Having said the good stuff, there is however room for improvement. Sometimes the staff are not friendly and engaging enough and the store could benefit from the addition of subtle background music. These two shortcomings can make for a "chilly" experience. On other visits, different staff have been better and their appreciation of quality knives was apparent. This made for a better shopping experience. So it depends on who is working behind the desk during your visit. Overall, I've been very pleased with my visits and the quality knives I've left with and will continue to visit the shop whenever I'm travelling near Pictou.

I love their "tomato" knives as steak knives. I have ones with the epoxied handle and just wooden handle. They all stand up well in the dishwasher and have maintained their sharpness completely though I have been using them for over 10 years. Excellent quality knives. Thank you Grohmann!

Great quality knives. They have good hours including Sundays and you can submit a request for a certain knife for seconds (and with a specific request for the wooden handle). The prices are excellent.

Please don't waste your money on these knives. They are very poorly built, the customer service is horrific, my knife turned up with dirt and finger prints varnished into the handle, the blade is wonky, the grind is uneven, the handle does not fit. Customer service ignores email and calls. Attached photos so you can decide for yourself.
