I first want to explain that normally Penny's would have earned a 5 star rating from us. We have been eating breakfast here regularly for months and have always had a good experience. This morning however, my husband found a hair on a side plate under his sausages. We were both certain that it was not from someone's head, if the meaning is understood. Understandably my husband didn't finish his breakfast. When we brought it to the servers attention she apologized quietly and removed the plate. Upon paying for the meal, which he didn't completely finish, there was no discount or further apology. To say this experience was gross is an understatement. We understand that these things happen but as a food service business you must be prepared to make reparations to the customer or lose business.

Showed up 2 min after opening. We were shown to a booth immediately. Great service, food was excellent. Great way to start the day. Only issue was the cups for water were super small so I had to ask for a refill multiple times. Will come back again

Right off the bat the hostess asked where my boyfriend was (he was just gathering stuff out of the car) I said he would be right in and she said "good, we need to get you turned around". Made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Food took about 45mins to come and when it did my boyfriend, who asked for bacon, was brought sausage, and when he informed them about the mix up they told us there was no bacon on the grill and would take an other 10mins to get. We refused, but it they did take his meal off the bill which was nice. He also got home fries instead of hash browns which I told him he was lucky cause my hash browns were burnt as well as the toast that was brought to us. I got eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was very runny and they put so much paprika on it that I my troat was drying up, and they never once came by to ask how our meal was so I never had the chance to ask them for more water for me and my step son. I tried to flag the hostess down a couple times but they were so rushed I couldn't get her attention. I do have to say the waitress seemed very sweet but overwhelmed. I heard this was a great place to eat but after this I will never step foot in there again, that was the worst breakfast experience ever. I would have never written this review if I wasn't told right from the beginning that they need us in and out. It just didn't feel right to me to tell your costumer that.

I almost had a heart attack when she told me the price for my burger and poutine but the true heart attack was after having the most amazing homemade burger gigantic properly made delicious and probably the best poutine outside of Quebec I have ever had I would not hesitate to pay for that quality food again thank you so much for a great meal

Went in for the first time to eat, There was a fairly long line. I wait. My turn, -"Oh it's just you, well those people behind you are three, they're getting seated first" My turn again - "Oh but those people behind you are two, so they're going to have to be seated first" I heard good things about this place, but the grumpy lady running it doesn't understand service. Hello, unfortunately my rating can not be changed from a 4 to a 5 star as there were some issues. I understand no substitutions however, when it comes to things that are within reason i.e. food sensitivities, I believe its not a stretch for it to be done. I am not to eat eggs and therefore asked for 2 bacon instead. What upset me more about this was the young lady serving us explained it to me in a rather blunt, rude way. Her demeanor throughout was quite rude. I am really tired of going to places PAYING and being made to feel like I am an unexpected, unwanted guest in someone's home. 4 starts cause the food was good (way greasy, but expected) and the cashier on the way out was nice.

A friendly and homey little spot that serves up unpretentious and classic fare. Perfect when you're out and about on long weekend holidays and your family's staring you down with rumbling bellies. My only beef: make the washrooms gender-neutral, remove the scented products, and put a baby change table into the bigger of the two. There's lots of room for one in there and parents will love you for it. :)

This was my second visit and I ordered a Southwest Chicken Poutine which I had enjoyed on my previous visit. To my horror, I discovered a lettuce leaf stuck to the bottom of the bowl after having eaten about half my meal. I reported it nicely to the staff who apologized, but brushed it off. Unfortunately, this incident has made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen and consequently how this was allowed to happen in the first place. I would love to give this restaurant a glowing review, but cleanliness and care in the kitchen is far too important! Based on your reply: All customers have a right to clean food and an apology not an argument from management nor a retort to check inspection records! This should never have happened and your reply is unacceptable.

My only regret is not taking a picture of my food before we ate! It was a delicious breakfast, we were well attended to even though it was busy and they even had GF toast options. I love this place! The location is great, a nice drive out of Ottawa for amazing food. There is lots of parking. Restaurant is like being in your mother's kitchen. Fresh prepared food, turkey cooked in house, amazing candied walnuts. I have eaten here a number of times and each time it gets better. I love the variety, the changing monthly specials. Homemade pies! Takes me more time to choose what I want then the service to get it on the table. The wait staff is quick attentive and knowledgeable. Everyone should eat here just top notch!

We ate at Penny's today, we had a party of 5. They sat us at 2 different tables. They do have a sign that said we do seat people at tables that will seat the amount so there will be room for everyone. So we did sit 3 at one table an 2 at the other. After looking around they had 3 adults and 1 child sitting at a table for 6. There was another table that was for 4 with a chair pulled up at the end. Why they didn't sit us like the 5 people heaven knows. We ordered all at the same time and our one table with 3 people got there food and we think they forgot about us. So about 20 minutes later our food came and then our other table had to wait for us to eat. Their was no sorry no explanation for the screw up! Not happy!

Food is usually greasy and everything that I have tried tastes the same as the other items on my plate (about 6 visits in total, giving them the benefit of the doubt each time) I also find that the Coffee is too weak for my liking. They serve Folgers, which i have purchased myself on many occasions and found it to be ok if made properly. If you dare to complain about the food, dont expect any kind of reduction on your bill or even an apology from the unfriendly owner.

I wouldn't recommend this place to locals or people driving through on highway 7. Not only is it overpriced for the simple diner food it serves, but the food itself is middle of the road and bland. My burger was dry and was filled with rosemary. The fries were pretty good though .

I have ate here for many years, always make a point to stop here when I am driving to and from Ottawa. Fantastic food and extremely good value. Always greeted by a server or even the chef in the back when I walk in! Usually grab a cup of coffee and an omelette or one of their daily specials, which for a small town like Perth is amazing to have such interesting and creative specials! There is more than enough parking so youll never have an issue getting in and out. The restaurant is not massive but has a great home feel to it. Cant wait to stop by again! I wpuld recommend this place to anyone I know!
