I have heard some bad talk about the new owners around town (typical small town Summerland) and have to say I'm really surprised because when I was in and asking for gluten free options with my mum the new owner was super super super sweet and you could tell she was passionate about the business! I also love how they are keeping old classics from the menu and also slowly adding new things! It's a refreshing change

This rating is usually a 5 Star, but today's service was absolutely horrible. We walked out after 20 minutes in line to be told they would not make two vegetarian panini sandwiches at NOON ON A SATURDAY because, and I quote, "we're too busy". Uh. Excuse me? Too busy to make a meatless sandwich? At a restaurant during lunch service? You need to rejig your staff. 1 order taker, 3 coffee makers, 1 runner, 2 backhouse staff. This is EXACTLY the amount of staff you had working, with zero organization. I would have given today ZERO stars if Google Review had this function available.

My girlfriend and I went here during a trip to Summerland. When we came for lunch on Sunday afternoon they were out of their sandwhiches so we had to go somewhere else. We came back for breakfast the next day and had breakfast wraps, which were really good. My girlfriend had an iced coffee which was really excellent. Overall a cute little cafe with a nice ambience and good food/drinks.

The beanery is good some of the time. However they often get my order wrong, or made to poor quality. Also they charge $.65 for ketchup... really? I’d understand if it’s like homemade or something but it’s from a store bought bottle... over all, hit or miss. Also, almost ridiculously expensive. I heard they were bought out and it’s changing to a sandwich shop (wow! Like the subway down the street...)

Coffee is good. People are nice. But at this time they are slow (short staffed) and don’t often provide the drinks in order. I had 5 people get their drink before me. Waited 20 minutes for a coffee & smoothie.

This is a busy little place and got busier closer to lunch. The coffee was worth the wait though and can be enjoyed inside or in a small outside seating area. They have a food menu as well with massive breakfast sandwiches.

Its so refreshing to see new owners implementing positive changes to our little cafe! They are so friendly and have the best interests of their guests and the town at heart. Not only are they implemening more vegan and gluten free options but they're also incorporing more local and fresh ingredients. I can't wait to see how it looks when the reno is finished! Too many things to do after we visited yesterday, so am adding to my review today. Close to my birthday, so my wife asked me where I wanted to go for breakfast. We came here, as I liked the options on the menu. We cycled from Penticton, along the KVR, then along a few streets among the orchards and vineyards, and we reached the Beanery. Locked our bikes to a convenient bike rack on the sidewalk and went in to order. We both had delicious breakfast sandwiches, while my wife had OJ and I had a creamy latté. We sat at one of the bistro tables outside and had a nice chat with visitors who make a yearly trip to the Okanagan and also love coming to the Beanery. Had a chance meeting with the Mayor of Summerland here, and had the opportunity to say hello to her as well, as she was waiting for her order. It's a great place to stop at, and we'll be coming back again.

I went here multiple times during my vacation and each time was such a lovely experience. The owner is so friendly and makes sure the atmosphere is really welcoming. We requested our sandwich on a cheese bun and it was sooooo yummy! The coffee is also good quality. The tables are cleaned and sanitized very often which is so nice.

We came 20 minutes before closing and we were waiting looking at the menu. When we decided there were still 10 minutes left and they wouldn't sell us the wraps because they had to use the grills. There was no sign or anything specifying they wouldn't serve food. We came from out of town and it was one of the only places open. I think a business should be able to provide what they offer until they close. Otherwise cute place.

We usually come here for coffee and lunch when we are staying in Summerland but this last visit the coffee was horrible. We asked for two short Americanos. What we got was lukewarm coloured water. When I went to the counter let them know and to ask for espressos instead they made no attempt to apologize, gave me one espresso and then looked confused when I asked for another one as we had ordered 2. I would suggest going down the street to Just Hazel instead.

First time visiting since the new ownership and remodel. Not really impressed the changes. Prices jumped, quality hasn't, and the place feels like a bunch of unfinished pinterest projects. The wall bench with fake fur sheepskins on it is uncomfortable if you're over 5'6" & the wood is still rough & raw so watch for splinters. The pastel painted upright piano is utterly bizarre. Muffins are still really tasty, coffee is still good, but not $5.20 for a medium cappuccino good. I still like the food and coffee they have, but it feels unfriendly, unwelcoming, and out of place now. It feels like the new owners look down on the town and the locals & just want to welcome the million dollar vacation home types and folks with a gentrification obsession. I know things change, I know the world moves, and I wouldn't ever expect the old place to exist in a time capsule. I know covid sure isn't helping the general mood of anywhere right now, but I feel especially unwelcome at what was formerly a favorite, comfortable, friendly place, and I'm doubtful that I will be back.

Starting I would just like to say all the people working here are great and very helpful. For years, I have always loved going to the beanery; however, lately, I get more disappointed with every visit. I ordered 5 items and all of them had issues: the green emerald was sour, the matcha green tea latte was also sour, the tiramisu was still frozen, the muffin was undercooked, and the butter tart bar was freezer burnt. I'm not the kind of person that writes bad reviews, but I am very disappointed with the quality of the food after the switch of owners. Something needs to change.

Love this little café for its Okanagan Fog and Caramel Machiato. The quiche, soups and fruit salad are great too. On hot summer days I go for the mango tropics smoothie. We make it a habit to take the 30 min. walk from home through town to stop here for a treat and then head back home once every week or so. It has a nice vibe with stools at the window, regular tables as well as comfy chairs and great art on the walls. Worth the stop if you are driving Hwy 97!

Stopped in on Saturday May 15th. Shared a sandwich with my wife. Had the Baguette Panini. This was very, very good. Quality ingredients was clearly evident inside. Had the Toasted Coconut Mocha. Excellent. Seriously, this experience was like going to a higher end coffee shop where they truly care about the coffee they deliver and the ingredients they put into the food. I hate to make a comparable, but in my opinion Bliss Bakery is the bench mark. You hit that mark. I encourage anyone in Summerland or passing through to support this great, small business. If you don't think your attention to detail in what you are offering customers isn't being noticed - think again Beanery Cafe! I've noticed and applaud you for it. Will I be back? Guaranteed.

Service here is always friendly and I love that they often have Paleo-friendly baked goods available! It's also quite large so you're never without a seat. Back home in San Francisco, I stay away from any cafes with sugary syrups and the like because we have an amazing cafe culture with right-proper espresso and hand-crafted drinks (no corn syrup-based syrups allowed!) but while visiting family in Summerland, it's slim pickings so I go against my usual rule. As long as you stick to the basics (capp's, espresso, etc), The Beanery won't disappoint.

It's good, but it's no longer great. I've been here in Summerland since October of last year. So just over 4 months now. And I was lucky enough to stumble upon the beanery when I first came to town. The locals raved about this place, (and it still does receive high praise from people that I talk to) so I decided to check it out for myself. My initial reaction post-sale was extremely positive. It had a very vast selection of healthy and delicious menu items on display, all of the drinks that I had were quite good. But the one thing that really captured my attention was the atmosphere. It had a lot of character about the place, it had art on the walls, a beautiful layout, and the people behind the counter where genuinely interestedand having a conversation with you, only if it was for the 10 seconds or 15 seconds that they were preparing your drink. Post sale, I don't really have very many complaints about the food, although I do feel that the portions are a little bit smaller and they have altered a few of the recipes that should not have been touched, but when you walk in there, there's no... zing. It's very sterile and uninviting. The Christmas lights on the wall where a nice touch perhaps around the Christmas time. But the reminiscence of the old beanery have all but vanished. The people behind the counter seem a little bit more sterile and treat you as a numbered customer that they want to get out the door quickly, rather than engaging with you to make you feel welcome. Still has great coffee, and I still definitely will frequent the place, but sadly, I can't say it's going to be my first choice anymore.

My business partner and I enjoy meeting once per week at varying establishments. 2 weeks ago, we stopped here and had a fantastic experience. There is nothing I love more than seeing people pursue their dream, and that is what is behind this shop. In fact, you may find yourself in great conversation with one of the owners as they take your order, or come around to collect your dishes. Beyond great atmosphere, great coffee, and beyond great snacks; a business needs personality and the Beanery has just the right amount of it. I'm proud to be a friend and patron of the Beanery Cafe. Although I live in West Kelowna, we will visit here monthly at least.

When. You walk in the first thing you see if a n empty display case so it may make you think you missed out on something lol. They have alternative milks and an two leaf teas large chairs and organic coffee. Its one of the only coffee shops in Summerland I believe besides Tim Hortons. Lots of good options for food, got a ham (that means 4 very tiny, thin pieces on top of the cheese biscuit which wasn't warmed up, had to ask for butter, but didn't get a knife, no lid for coffee (they did replenish them after everyone got their top go coffee). It was fairly busy so we could see how these things can happen. So many people ordered the Nanaimo bars that I almost went back in to get some.

Driving through Summerland for some wine and the local rep at The Back Door recommended this little hidden jewel. We stopped by and enjoyed our cheese bun, cinnamon bun and a coffee for a pit stop. Very comfortable place with freshly made treats. They sell sandwiches, buns and cookies. The buns were fresh despite being day old?! This place is very busy for a small city. A little JJ Bean in Summerland. Thank you SIR from the Dack Door!! This will be our pit stop to and from Kelowna.

Used to be my favourite stop in town, but since the new owners took over, I will not be going back. They have the mentality of a city franchise and not the heart that a small town needs. Still so inconsistent and slow. A 50cent jump on the mocha's but less syrup? Yes I noticed. It doesn't matter how much decor or revamping you do customers prefer orders in a consistent and timely manner. Miss the old staff that was quick and consistent, miss the old atmosphere. Since the new owners took over I am very disappointed with the slow service, the running out of to go cups in certain sizes and the inconsistency of my daily mocha's. They had a well oiled machine the way the staff worked together and knew there routine, not anymore. I ran a drive through coffee house in the lower mainland so I am familiar to this type of business and running out of cup did not happen, the loss would be too much. You can't own a business and not be 100% hands on and know what's going on in your shop or when you need to replenish stock. Sorry for the vent but tired of paying 6.05 everyday for a mocha and having to throw it away.

The soup was hot and delicious and the owner was so nice and friendly to me. Came right up and introduced herself and wanted to make sure everything was okay. What a pleasant surprise. Had a bizarre and expensive experience here. Espresso drinks were made poorly. Cashier had to be corrected multiple times. And I was overcharged. I only noticed at the very end when walking out that I really shouldn't have paid $48.00 for what I ordered. Soup was cold. Latte and cappuccinos were so sweet - they pumped way too much syrup when I specifically said 1 pump. Charged twice over for single items ordered. Wrap was not edible. It had uncooked ham in it. I didn't even bother mentioning it to them. They even wanted to sell me a bottle of Evian water for my kids who wanted a glass a water. $5.50 for water. Not offering to give us simple tap water. Honestly, why in heaven's name would a morning coffee and a few pastry items add up to $48. Be better, especially for that price tag!

awful service paid for a lunch special that i never received, i had to leave after waiting almost an hour for my food, during that time i watched 2 separate customers ask to have their food warmed was it was not cooked/cold. I was told my sandwich would be ready in 6 - 8 minutes i left after waiting an hour. DON'T waste your time with this place they have no clue how to serve people food.

I wish the best for the new owners....but after going here for years and years I am noticing everything going downhill. Pastries are no longer made fresh for the day, they constantly run out of mixes for the drinks, and the staff turnaround is troubling. I also wish all the staff would be trained to make drinks the same way! The quality of the drink (and the amount the cups are filled) is completely different for each staff member. I hope the new owners will step up and bring the quality back to top notch now that they have upped their prices and changed the menu.

Stopped by to try out the Cafe today for the first time. Service was poor. Received my order slowly, one item at a time. We were sitting at an outside table so I asked if I could wait outside or if I needed to wait inside. I was asked to wait inside for my order. First came the sticky buns....I took the outside and delivered them first, then went back to wait for the rest of the order. A bit of a wait longer and the coffee was ready.....took that out to my friend. Went back in to wait for the last of my order. At this point there is a staff change, the person coming on obviously wasn’t finished with his phone messages as he promptly pulls out his phone and made that his priority. I asked once about my drink and was told it was coming, finally told them not to bother as my friend was pretty well finished with hers and we needed to get going. Not even sure why I even gave a one star, I am just assuming that the coffee was good as my friend did drink hers. The sticky buns were so tough, they were impossible to chew. We were not impressed.

The food and coffee are great. The sandwiches are tasty and large. The only complaint I have is that after visiting this coffee shop four times, I along with other patrons have waited about 20 minutes to get our drinks or food. They are so slow. They are very nice and friendly. But if your looking for stopping in for a quick coffee or bite, you will be standing and waiting a good twenty minutes for it. If you don’t mind the longer than usual wait, it’s a great coffee shop

Stopped here for a late lunch and had their amazing lunch special of a delicious Thai chicken soup, salad, and warm cheese bun - all super tasty. (Great vegan and gluten free options as well.) The remodel they've done recently inside is also really well done and they apparently have more planned! Staff was very friendly and helpful as well. I highly recommend this place!

She was so helpful in determining what and how much to order and we had a couple girls with unusual allergies but she was more than willing to accommodate. The day of the pick up, she helped me carry all the sandwiches and pastry assortments to the car and he food was obviously fresh :) all in all, super happy with the experience

My coffee was decent but the lack of social distancing or any semblance of covid prevention measures was absolutely horrifying. There was glass between the staff and public but the place was packed and the lines had people bunched together. There’s water for the public.. a tap and cups that everyone’s is touching. And most shocking was that the straws for your drinks are unwrapped in a jar and everyone’s hands are touching the straws that you’re putting in your mouth. No hand sanitizer is available so lord knows what you’re putting in your mouth. Most places in summerland seem to have some measures in place. But not here and I won’t be coming back because of it.
