Excellent pies and coffee to stay. Bought their soup and a pie and enjoyed every mouthful.

Only went here once, they have a solid breakfast. However I found it on the pricey side. …

Easily my favourite place in town to get breakfast/brunch. Do yourself a favour and beat the weekend rush by getting there before 11 am. Their waffles are incredible, particularly when you add their homemade jam. And don't forget to pick up a pie or some pastries on your way out.

Joe Smit

My favourite place for pie in Ottawa. Every pie is great but I particularly love the multi berry pie. It's sweet but oh so good! Coffees are good too. I'm also a fan of their breakfasts! My only nitpick is I wish they'd wipe the tables a little more frequently!

Anna Eke

Great desert place. I had the berry pie, it was pricy but was worth it. However my husband and I went there for brunch. Giving it 3 stars because my home fries weren't well done, they were hard, my omelette was well cooked one side and not cooked on one side (it wasn't meant to be over easy) but I think it should either be over easy or well done or something... It was a mixture of both. It was a "longer than usual" wait for our food...I didn't enjoy Brunch which was what we were there for... Brunch was meh, I've definitely had better for less. I'll definitely go back for their baked goods, the pie I had was scrumptious, the crust was perfect, crisp on the edges not soggy on the inside... The berry filling tasted amazing and homemade.

Honestly my favourite bakery in the city. I've been going here since I moved to Ottawa and I've never been disappointed. I would recommend their London Fog/Double Berry scone and coffee deal if it's your first time. Mac and cheese is to die for when they have it.

Don’t come here for their breakfast special. My wife’s order was wrong and they simply told her, « it’s yours ». Being hungry, she accepted the food as it was. The home fries were cold and tasteless and the portion was scarce. Bread wasn’t …

The desserts a absolutely delicious and I've never been disappointed by any of them, their prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is really pleasant. They also have board games so you can come in with friends and hangout. They also do full meals and non dessert food items of which I've only tried one. It was decent but nothing special, would try more before coming to a conclusion on the quality of them. Only complaint is that their cutlery had a gross metallic taste that took away from the food.

Best pie in Ottawa!!! My wife and I love going out for pie; We've tried a dozen pie places in the city but keep comming back to Life Of Pie. Our favourite is their fruit crisps; it always has a perfect crust. We live 50 minutes away and gladly make the drive in order to spend 5 blissful minutes eating a slice. Yum!!! We now have birthday pie (crisp) instead of birthday cake!

Ruth Pittman

Tasty homemade food cafe. Specializes in pies and comfort food desserts. Also has lunches and dinner pies like chicken or torture. I like the atmosphere and young client vibe

Lindsey McConnell

This is a smaller place with a good selection of food. They are also a bakery too, so be sure to get toast with your order. We had a wide variety of entrees, including the tofu scramble, which was a little spicy, but very good! For pie, we had blueberry crumble, which was ok and mango peach, which was really good!

meihan liu

I tried an orange cranberry scone. I will say that Is is not the best scone, but it is good. Also I tried their raspberry crisp. It did not surprised me probably because I have already known that they make great fruit crispy, since I read …

I love this place! Friendly staff, the baked goods are delicious and the main reason I go. .the happy goat coffee ???? It has a really nice small town vibe in the heart of Old Ottawa South, such a contrast from the fast pace and busy coffee shops it is in between on Bank street. If you like a casual friendly vibe where the food and drinks are good...then stop by the Life of Pie.

One of those rare places to sit down and get super relaxed cafe energy. Laptops far and few, kids here and there, ok grub. Good discovery for someone new to the area.

#1: This is a nice coffee shop/ bakery/ weekend brunch place. I had the coffee + scone combo, which was $3.50 with a medium coffee. The scone was tasty (it was honey nut), very firm (almost crispy) on the outside, soft inside, and the honey on top was perfect. The Happy Goat coffee was delicious! They have a decent sized seating area, occupied mostly by tables (convenient for breakfast), but by the window there are several comfy chairs. They also have a cafe table or two outside on the sidewalk. They have locked Wi-Fi. I didn't note if they had any outlets. The washrooms were cute and clean. Reading through the previous reviews, I kinda sensed what Kevin H mentioned 5 months ago: The "staff bumbling through" business...I definitely got a faint "I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing/this is still so new" vibe from the staff I interacted with, but not to the extent that they didn't take care of my order capably and efficiently. #2: I visited again, again getting the coffee and scone combo (berry-something), which I think is a fantastic coffee + something combo, and highly enjoyed it. My companions also enjoyed their orders.

I love popping in here when I need a quick lunch - I've had the custom grilled cheese, the quiche, and soup- good every time!

Everytime I go here I fall a little more in love. Such a cute little cafe. Their desserts are phenomenal and so are the sandwiches. I've had many of their pies but they are always different every time we go. Definitely a repeat place. Cute name, cute venue and cute staff. 10/10

Delicious! Large floor plan, but with the light, natural wood tables and chairs made it cozy. There are a few comfy chairs for when you want to settle in with your pie. Large selection of take-home products. Local artists adorn the walls. Rotating menu, so check the website before you go.

Mike Brownhill

Great local dessert place. Stopped in for a snack and to pickup dessert for dinner. Since it was late in the day, there were few choices for a while our, but the ginger/mango crumble was delicious!

Adam Eastman

Great food but pretty pricey. Even for a scratch bakery. Staff are friendly but never too rushed to serve people if they are working on something. Today I was in line for 5 minutes and they hadn’t been served the first person in line.

Stanimir Cvetanov

Did not try any sweets so can't comment on those, but their brunch is way overpriced for what it is. Portions were small and there's absolutely nothing that would make their food stand out from any other place.

Yoshuna

Super friendly staff, warm and spacious ambiance, and amazing baked goods! I’ve had the blueberry pie and the cherry pie in the past and the crust is perfect! Good for families, a date, or for anyone to hang out. Each table has a cute …

As an avid apple pie eater, I came here on recommendation of the Apple pie. Unfortunately, it was nothing special (for the price) and my experience was especially tainted due to the nonchalant, inattentive service. It was likely an 'off day' (who knew) but I have no desire to return there.

Mavis Top

I love this place so much and have made so many memories here. The cashiers and workers are all so friendly and kind, and even recognize their frequent costumers. Definitely would recommend to anyone

Bob G

I'm not sure why they have a tip jar if customers have to clean the area that you want to sit in before they sit down.... And not just put something in the garbage but wiping down a disgusting coffee stained table, a filthy fan, and a chair was filled with crumbs. All together there were 3 other tables that were dirty. I counted 4 people working behind the counter yet not one person cares enough to clean the dining room for guests wanting to sit and enjoy.

Second time here... Thought I would give it another chance. Left disappointed again. Here is a summary: …

Laura-Lee MacDonald

Some of the best scones and desserts I've ever eaten anywhere in the world. Fantastic coffee and tea, too. Worth what you pay for. The staff are also wonderful.

Frank Mouawad

Delicious selection of pies. Crust is very flakey and tender. Their pies are great and made locally. Original selection, and daily pies can be found on their website. Staff is very friendly. Good coffee and side bites.

Gabrielle Tayag

I had a last minute need for something to bring to a dinner party and Life of Pie was the perfect answer. I appreciated being able to see the daily menu on their website and was able to call ahead and ask them to put a pie aside for me. …

Although the pies are a tad on the pricey side, you definitely get what you pay for. Bought it for a family get together and everyone loved it. Fresh out of the bakery oven.you can’t go wrong with that. I shall return for another pie in the near future!

Alexandra Christine Hill

My Dad loves stopping in here for the quiche, which he enjoys thoroughly! This time we had some sweet potato curry soup and it was delicious! If you need a pick me up, the red eye coffee is super!

Adam Smiley

We enjoyed a very tasty berry pie from Life of Pie a couple of weeks ago and were extremely happy with the purchase. The pie tasted how it should: homemade with fresh ingredients. Looking forward to returning and trying new types of pie!

April Kibzey

Life of Pie is definitely the best bakery in Ottawa if not Ontario!!! I purchased organic gluten free egg bread for all the crew at work and it was only 5$ a loaf...so good I ate a piece as soon as I got home..and didn't need …

Micheline Campbell

I ordered a raspberry pie for my mom's birthday since it's her favorite and the pie itself was good but ended up having another fruit inside instead of just raspberries and the crust was a little too hard. Luckily no one that was there had …

Natasha Curtis

Always amazing, I've only been in Ottawa a short time but I've already made my way there twice! I had pie and cookies the first time and this time tried their savoury scone and roasted red pepper soup. Definitely a must try.

Alec Jenkin

I’ve been going here since it was at its old location at Hopewell and Leonard. These are among, if not the, best pies in the city for both sweet and savoury. The cookies and pastries are always great too, and the coffee and breakfast specials are top notch. The woman who runs the place is amazing and friendly and there’s always board games puzzles and stuff to read if you’re on your own or looking for something to do with friends in between scarfing as much pie into your mouth at once as you can. I’d recommend this place for a nice afternoon break from errands in the area or to take someone you know loves baking on a date. The people on here who gave bad reviews have no idea what they are talking about or are competitors and should be ashamed for slandering the efforts of such a nice group of people who run and work at this spot. This place is the real deal for baked goods and you won’t find better in the city, and that’s coming from someone who’s lived here for more than 30 years.

Martin Cayouette

Good choice of fresh bread. Usually get a scone to go as a treat.

Jeff Scullion

I can't say anything negative about this place. Very nice to have in the neighborhood. No wifi but if you need it there are lots of places nearby - also means there are usually a couple of free tables for the family. Few all day campers. I wish they would bring back the weekly soup\quiche deal they had before - maybe up the price and add fresh bread.

Mackle McGrath

Out of this world fabulousness! Everything is delicious, even the crust. The Sweet Potato & Goat Cheese Quiche is the best I've ever tasted. It was 3:14pm when I was eating their Blueberry Crisp Pie, right on time for pie time! 10/5 stars!

Patricia Filteau

Coffee and scones– the best deal in town! Mince tarts to die for, seasonal and regular pies – off the charts delicious. Soups – slurp it up fast – so good. The owners are a charm and the staff, friendly, helpful and plain good fun. Great ambience to slip into when its cold outside.

Norman de Bellefeuille

Good coffee and a pleasant seating area by the front window. Check your seat for crumbs and watch out for the wasps lazing around the front window ledge during the summer. They may crawl up your cup and we certainly don't want one of those in our mouths,do we?

arvidien

Today, Saturday June 15th, i went in with my wife and two kids, who love that place for the scones. I picked up a salad from the cooler. The tomato was mushy, the cucumber was dry, the pepper bits had no crunch, the red onion had no flavor and the lettuce was wilted. I bought it back to the counter, the girl told me it was made last Wednesday. So much for freshness. They immediately made another salad which was OK but half the size of the first one. Too bad I could not give a no star rating.

Andrew Norman

Excellent food, including both sweet and savoury pies. Friendly service and a nice community vibe. Not as fast as a chain coffee shop, but the food is definitely worth it.

Patricia Bouchard

Excellent value and a pleasant vibe during a weekday lunch. I had a delicious soup and quiche combo. Service was fast and friendly.

Justin

Good pie (among other bake goods)! Lots of selections, and you can bring some home with you. They also have a small restaurant where you can enjoy brunch on weekends.

Jordan B

Pies tasted good, but for a place that supposedly specializes in pie-making, I found the strawberry crisp to be essentially a liquid slop. Apple pie was very heavy on the cinnamon. Probably will give it one more try, then call it quits if it's some of the same...

Sarah Dormier

My favourite place to stop for breakfast. I always leave with a smile on my face and a bag full of goodies for later. Comfortable atmosphere with quaint eat in area. I reccomend this bakery to all my out of town clients and they are always …

Elijah Mendez

Ordered a lemon curd and custard pie, the crust was dry, and tough. The filling was mediocre at best. Overall, fantastic $10 pie, but at $20 I think they need to try a slice of humble pie and either prove their price or improve their product.

Georges

Gave me a pleasant surprise and excellent service. Delicious berry scone! I got a whole bunch and used them as hamburger buns :) I enjoyed every bite.

Sandy Cherrie

Love, love, love this place. I've been going there for years and everything is delicious. My favorite at Christmas is the Duck, Port and Fig pie. Worth every penny:)

Nadeem Douba

I am very disappointed with how poor the service has become. This used to be one of my favourite breakfast joints. The portions and the quality of the food was good. Today (Sunday brunch). Not so much. Our food came late and cold. Another couple who came in much later after us had received their food (egg breakfast) immediately. Then, when we received our food, it was all cold, the sausage was burnt, and the sides were missing. After returning the food, the replacement came with one less egg. After complaining, they told us the place was busy and that's the reason for the delays. Looking at the back I see 10 people just standing there. It's clear there's no organization.

C C

Awesome food and coffee. They have have board games and it's a great place to take friends and kids of all ages. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The sweets are some of the best in the city!

Dave Marcotte

A pleasant space, Very good coffee. Baked goods hit and miss ( I say miss the scones, for example). The service is slow and inefficient. A note to the owner: if I order coffee to drink in, and pay cash, how many entries or keystrokes on …

Shaun The Sheep

I like the ambience of this coffee shop/ bakery/ eatery. It's friendly and casual, and the coffee and muffins are usually fairly decent. We used to go there for weekend brunches on a regular basis but stopped after having been …

I would often go to Life of Pie to study (#studentlife). Their pies are absolutely delicious! I would often get a tea and scone combo and would stay for hours. Nice cozy environment. Recommend!

Tim Stahl

Picked up a chocolate pecan pie that tasted like it was burnt. Literally inedible. Cost close to $20. Honestly worst pecan pie ever.

Becky Powell

Love the mini quiche from the fridge case, the pastry is still crisp and delicious even when heated up in the microwave

R M

The desserts are so tasty, my favorite is the peacn pie however, a little friendly customer service would be a nice touch

Sarah S

Without a doubt the best pie I've ever had. And for $19 a pie, they have to be extremely worth it - they really don't disappoint! The triple berry crisp is a show stopper - just wow. We also tried the Mango Peach - the crust is so so good. Just A++

Ashna Dhillon

Pies are good, unique flavours. But serving sizes are nothing for the price. They need to learn how to do that better. Cookies and other items are well priced though, as are their full pies. I just don't recommend getting slices.
