Excellent stop for your sweet tooth cravings. Grabbed a couple of chicken enchiladas, tarts and huge donuts

When my group of friends were by the water, a friendly local suggested this place. I love marketplaces so I was bound to pay a visit! I arrived during what seemed to be a lunch rush. A lot of people lining up for bake goods , coffee and the hot meal section. I got a latte and cappuccino. I didn’t have my travel mug with me but I am a fan of cool inventions - and so the sliding lid really amused me haha. We then got a lemon loaf to bring home, as well as a jam. Loads of selection! We were too tempted so we lined up for lunch as well. Got a chicken caesar salad and egg salad sandwhich. If you’re a cheese lover, you’ll love the selection. I’m lactose intolerant but the mac and cheese selection got me craving it! Such a great place. Would come again - The people are so friendly!

Dewayne Williams

Never disappointed when getting food here. Freshest bread and baked goods. Always a stop when going to the cottage

Victoria V

Stopped here on a long drive for a bite. Staff is friendly. We got the mac n cheese with the chilled strawberry cheesecake and YUMMY! All the food was delicious, our mac n cheese was so fresh and warm! Lots of seating and cute art on the walls. We were impressed by this place and the variety they had. Lots of people here for a monday afternoon - will visit again if in the area :)

Such a wonderful atmosphere. It is old time quaint with up to date customer service. The food is excellent and fresh. They always have some gluten free options available, and the wheat free bread made on sight is fantastic.

My favorite store in the universe! Downstairs, apple Annie's ( moving a few doors down) has old time fudge, vintage candy, preserves and every kitchen gadget, unique serving tray or host accoutrement you can think of. The market has all sort of baked goodies and the best cinnamon buns

They have some lovely food items and gift items. We frequently visit for something to do. Some of the giftware is expensive but the food is fairly good for price.

One of the prized gems of Orillia. Simply the best bakery/cafe around. An warm rustic feel inside the shop coupled with many, many selections keeps customers coming back for more. The only place that I know of that can produce one of my favorite drinks - an iced coconut milk latte. Highly recommended for a sweet tooth, a hearty meal, a stellar beverage and unique retail items. The staff are very warm and friendly. Keep up the great work Mariposa Market!

Choc chip muffins r back!! They were a casualty of covid but they r back...

Unfortunately not a good experience. We purchased a cake here and it was very dry. The icing was made quite poorly as well. Extremely grainy and dry as well - too sweet. One could expect a cake like this from a discount grocery store. The chocolate shavings on the outside of the cake were also turning white (it was dark chocolate) - a sign that this chocolate was stored improperly or simply turning bad. What really made this quite a disappointing experience was that there were white “fuzzy fibre” elements in the icing. Unfortunately this made us throw out the entire cake as it was throughout the various layers of icing. Over the years this establishment has certainly declined - very disappointed with this experience. Pricing is also concerning for the quality that you receive. Would recommend other establishments in the area. You will avoid disappointment.

Mariposa market as always was crazy accommodating, they missed my wife's order, but made it fresh on the spot and it was ready in 20-25 minutes. Amazing staff and just amazing people! Always the best baked food too!

James “Dexter” Dextr

The best bakery I have ever been too!!! We always make a stop when in the Orillia area. Fantastic fresh food daily. Great place to grab lunch or a tasty treat. I highly recommend trying the monkey business frappe. Amazing broccoli cheddar soup as well. Awesome family cafe atmosphere with cool cottage decor all custom designed within an old theatre. Keep up the great work Mariposa! An absolute must stop destination. ????

Went there yesterday specifically to get something to eat. It says that they have Keto Muffins. And other keto foods. The only thing that they had that was keto, was coffee. Very disappointed. Keto should be removed from their website, if they aren't planning on making keto food. Extremely hard for people like myself that are sugar addicts, to walk in there and not be triggered. Thankfully, I got a coffee and left.

I absolutely love the Mariposa Market! I have been visiting this charming bakery market for 30 years and alway been happy with their baked goods and lunch entrees. I especially love their new addition and the innovative renovations! They really needed to expand their seating area and having the other express food counter at the back door was genius! Well thought out expansion. They also have charming giftware & clothing shops. Apple Annie's has wonderful fresh fudge! I would highly recommend everyone drop in for lunch when visiting Orillia.

This place is beautiful! We received amazing service when we popped in on a Sunday morning for coffee and pastries. Everything we bought was so tasty, especially the cranberry pumpkin pecan muffin which was truly a thing of beauty. Two friends recommended Mariposa Market to us while we were in Orillia this weekend and I can totally see why. I’m so glad we checked it out.

This market and bakery/cafe is on the Main street of Orillia downtown. The store is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. It feels like an European bistro. The center of the establishment it’s a bakery, flanked on both sides by stores, one is a clothing store, and the other is a Home Goods store. They sell really neat things on both stores. The bakery has a lot of choices for savory and sweet goods. Great place to have breakfast or lunch; there are a few tables to seat and enjoy your food. We enjoyed our savory items very much, all of them. Their sweet baked goods were not as good as Wilkies though.

Gord Collins

My partner and I enjoyed this place! They have an amazing selection of local stuff and lots of seating and great food!

Susan Laycock

Wonderful market place for all things nice to eat

Komal Lad

Top notch. Far too many good treats, so bad for my backside!!!! Lol. Always worth the trip to Orillia, though ❤️

Anu

A very cute (but huge) place if you are in heading to Muskoka, with wide variety of items ranging from sauce, jelly, spreads, cakes, pastries and breads. We tried quite a few things from fresh bakery items along with coffee and all of them tasted pretty good. While we didn't get to try but have heard, their tomato soup is a must try and they usually run out of it, by before lunch times. This place also has a gift shop within the vicinity.

Jenny Labrosse

This bakery is big and sells more than just food. It has inside entrances to the 2 souvenir shops on its either side. They serve lunch and have tables at the back and have a basement that sells a variety of kitchen stuffs.

Great place for classic baked goods, hot drinks, preserves/jams, or a cafe lunch.

Smac

Worst service and lunch! There seems to be no procedures in place behind the lunch counter. Food was awful! From a disgusting cheddar spinach quiche to an over microwaved mac and cheese to a burnt croissant sandwich with so much mayo you couldn't taste anything else.!! Overpriced and under delivered. I don't recommend eating here. A quick stop at the bakery counter is all this place is good for and even that will be expensive!!

Lindsay Butler

Over the top huge donuts and amazing pastries! Wow, it was a treat to see this place in Orillia. Next time I will be getting lunch! They have breads, pastries, donuts, cakes, sandwiches, wraps, quiche, along with the side shops that have a ton of candies, cards, skin care, and novelties.

This place is a very nice surprise we found in downtown Orillia. You can find all sorts of baked goods, coffee, handmade sweets, and kitchen gadgets here. It's a market will multiple independent vendors under one roof. Take your time and explore!

Nicolle Addley

Awesome place. Great environment. Extremely unique and inviting. Nice new remodel with extended seating and more places to order. They have just about anything you can imagine. Love it all. Wish I had a place like this near my home. I bought the cakes, coffee, donuts and more. Delicious. My family will be enjoying these baked goods for Christmas

An amazing hidden cozy nest! Several floors of seating and an Apple strudel to die for! Driving through on our way and stopped for a snack and stretch. Perfect!

CliffnKris

I picked up a cake here for my son's birthday. Great selection of baked goods that all look delicious. The death by chocolate cake was incredible. My family and I will definitely be visiting again.

akhil mohandas

I would give a 5 star, but when I got home I ended up with 2 apple fritters instead of what I ordered was 1 apple and 1 blueberry. That was very disappointing. It wasn't bad enough to drive the 1.5 hours to return the donut. We had purchased 6.

jaia konik

I am all for vaccine passports. Two servers asked for my proof of vaccine which I showed them. I asked politly if they were vaccinated. I was told it would not be discussed and that they did not have to tell me that its a private buisness. Im sure they are correct however customer safety should be their priority. They were however very rude with their reply. I will no longer be a daily customer.

Nick W

This place is amazing!! I have never seen such beautiful cakes and such a huge baking selection. We got some donuts and sandwiches to take home with us. If passing through Orillia be sure to stop in here, you will not be disappointed.

Their delivery service is excellent. I placed a large order at Christmas during the rush for a Royal Rose gift basket, skor donuts, a few blueberry/strawberry jams and a dozen gluten free cherry shortbread cookies. All arrived quickly and everything was fresh and well packaged. Their delivery driver was courteous and followed contact free covid protocols. Upon unpacking my order I discovered they included a free Christmas gift which was an unexpected nice touch. This was my first order but it certainly will not be my last. I'd rate this business six out of five stars but Google limits my rating to five so I'll just have to settle with that.

Worth the drive! Packed with wonderful home-made and local foods, baked goods, treats and spreads. The decor and open concept market vibe was beautiful, and the place was well-staffed to ensure customers were serviced quickly and pleasantly. We had a San Francisco Baked Hot Dog, a Pulled Pork Sandwich, a Chicken Enchilada, and a BBQ Chicken sandwich. For dessert, a Blueberry Fritter, a Homer Donut, and an Eclair. All delicious, plentiful, and very fresh. We will be making this a weekly visit for sure.

Emily L

I don’t really need to say much about this place. It just gave me a real Canadian local market spirit. For one immigrant like me, I’m just in love. I’ll definitely bring my family here.

Logan Miller

The baking is outstanding as is the huge selection of food. It can get a little noisy when it is busy but it seems to add to the experience. Try it for a coffee break or a full meal. Their special occasion cakes are delicious.

Robert L

We had apple and blueberry fritters, spinach feta pastry, turkey croissant sandwich and we bought their corn/ ancho chiles salsa- all are VERY good. Fast service, friendly, LOTS of baked goods and food selection, there is small section where people can eat. Fritters, they are very large, perfect for sharing during afternoon tea or to have at brunch with friends, or when you feel like a big fritter ???? the fritters are fresh and tastes great! Pastry was great and salsa was fire. Highly recommend when you’re in Orillia!

Amelia Hillman

I come to the Mariposa market as a special occasion stop when I travel down south a few times a year. It's always been a great experience, except for today. I ordered an egg salad sandwich, Buffalo chicken pizza, an iced coffee, and a caramel frap. The caramel frap had to be remade and was still terrible. It melted the ice within seconds and became very watery. My partner got his iced coffee and asked for an extra 2 cream and 2 sugar because its almost black. He had to go back and ask for extra cream again because there was none added. Lastly, the egg salad sandwich was so dry it was almost inedible. What's saddening is that I've had it before and it was great last time. $30.00 sadly spent for a terrible experience.. I'm starting to think they are a "donut only" market..

Tyson Renshaw

Great selection of cakes, tarts, donuts, savoury foods, and excellent service. Be sure to check this place out if you're in town.

Keith

A bit overhyped. Overpriced jams and condiments. Things you can get in a regular bakery. If you’ve been to st Lawrence market in Toronto this is nothing compared to it.

Jan Illing

I picked up two pies on Dec 23. Drunken Christmas pie and pumkin pie. I ordered ahead and service was good. The pumpkin pie however had no flavor and the crust was ..well I don't know what it was. It did not taste fresh or good. I usually make my own pie but thought I would treat us. The last time I bought a Texas donut it also tasted a day old and lacked flavor. New baker???? The drunken Christmas pie on the other hand was delicious with a flakey crust.

Cindy Rumble

I love this little bakery in Orillia! Excellent pastries to choose from, the Texas Donut is a must! Their prepared lunch foods could use some work but they do in a pinch! Loved coming here since I was a child when we had a cottage in the area! Give this place a shot, a little over priced but very enjoyable every time!

Rich Callacott

O.M.G!!! This place is absolutely phenomenal! I can't believe and truly regret not visiting Mariposas sooner! I did not realize what a dream this place is and how much they have to offer. They have such a wonderful variety of food, desserts, breads, salads, sandwiches. It's like a little piece of heaven in our own little city. How lucky we are. I only wish I had discovered Mariposas a couple months ago before I realized that I have Celiac Disease ????... However, they do have gluten free options here and brought a little bit of hope and happiness back into my life lol. I also purchased a keto muffin since it also does not have any gluten and it was fabulous. The picture is of a turtles mini cake and Im eating as I type this and it is incredible! The coffee is really good too. Inside of Mariposas is cozy, quiet and perfect for enjoying a coffee and treat or some lunch on your break. A great little gem Orillia has. I definitely highly recommend checking out this bakery/cafe. I actually ordered my daughters birthday cake today for her party in February. They have lots of themes to choose from. Im sure it will be delicious when the time comes aswell. Thanks Mariposas for giving making gluten feee options for people like myself whom cannot consume gluten and have a serious weakness for sweets lol. You have made my life a little more tasty. ????

This was my second time going here. I had never eaten anything. Met with friends for tea and a Texas donut. The donuts were huge and super fresh. This is an amazing meeting place. Lots of conversational pieces and interesting knickknacks there. Love the atmosphere here.a little pricey but love this place.

This bakery is the best sweets bakery around. We drive from Barrie for the apple fritters alone and always end up with more than we bargained for! Hands down best fritter!

Candace Ion

We were drove up from Stouffville to Orillia and were looking for a late lunch spot. This apot was recommended and it did not disappoint. We shared a delicious grilled turkey sandwich and caesar salad wrap. Their cranberry cider was the right mix of tangy and sweet. Only regret was we didn't get a chance to try some of their delicious sweet treats!

I LOVE Mariposa Market! Everything is homemade and you can taste the difference for sure. I'm addicted to the French Turkey Croissant (it has red pepper jelly on it and the cheese croissant is AMAZING)!! Don't buy the cookies or tarts unless you're mentally prepared to eat three at a time! ❤️

Great food as always. Tried the chipotle chicken quesadilla and was not disappointed one bit. This place also has some of the best baked goods and pastries in town and with Apple Annie's downstairs, also has the best fudge. Would recommend to a friend or stranger.

Sandra OBrien

been going since I've been a little girl, love their French croissant sandwich, found as time went on though icing has gotten cheaper tasting more oily and fake tasting, the cakes aren't as generous with the fruit, all desserts have gotten more streamline money saving and less care put in. service is always great! Got a cake for a little girls birthday looked better then expected but there was a lot of icing on the outside compared to how much cake there was and not very much filling on the inside.

Kendra-Lee Matheson

Love visiting this place, has something for everyone. So many delicious baked goods to choose from. Great spot to eat in and also perfect for taking things to go. I love their cakes for special occasions, the San Francisco Sourdough bread is amazing and their coconut macaroons are some of the best I've ever had. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

Love Mariposa Market. Amazing breads, cakes, donuts, and entrees like chicken pot pies and mac and cheese. Also a great place to have lunch with a lot of wraps and sandwiches to choose from and you can get coffee, tea, cold drinks etc. And there's also gift areas to shop in that offer jewellery, purses, baby gifts, etc. Well worth a visit every time you're in downtown Orillia.

chris sellers-mccaw

We got their olive bread and it was so yummy Also, got a birthday cake and the baker was so nice to talk to us and change what we needed One of the best in the area!

Micah Cooper

This is by far my favorite place in Orillia. I love the old world ambiance and the smell of fresh baked goods as soon as I step through the door. The coffee here is beyond delicious and I love the ordering system where you make your way passed scrumptious looking displays, seeing the items themselves before making a decision. I have fond memories of sticky buns my mother would bring home from this magical eatery and even had my first London Fog here. I haven't been able to find a place that does it better. Please come and check it out!

Alexandra Agramonte

Just a lovely experience. The food was a wide variety, fresh, and super tasty. Lots of wheat-free options, pickled/canned varieties, and SO much baking! I had the French Cafe Turkey Croissant. It was not fresh to order -- but it was definitely fresh! So good!

Wally Crawler

Always plenty of yummy treats, prices are slightly higher than a coffee shop but the quality is worth the extra money.

Arlene Francis

Had heard good reviews about this place. Seeing it in person is another level experience. Hidden gem in Orillia. Must visit. Perfect for dates, brunches with the girlfriends, family and even just by yourself. Little shops to explore inside for souvenirs. Its usually busy.

Gary Raposo

It's a very quaint place , gets a little buy at times but the eating areas are nice places to sit and chat , feels like an old time coffee shop even though it is pretty big . Food is really good too.

This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last!! Such a fantastic bakery with the best apple cider I've had in a very long time! Everything is so fresh and it's great walking around the little shops too!

Marlene Beaman-McQuay

Can’t stand poor customer service. The ladies behind the counter need a serious attitude adjustment, or perhaps find a different job if you hate yours so much. Oh, and if you decide to order one of their hot chocolates, be sure to remind them it includes marshmallows and whipped cream as clearly stated on their sign at the counter.. or you will be met with even more snarky and rude service and attitude like I received today when I politely asked for it. Will not be returning to Mariposa anymore. Plenty of better bakeries around town with nicer and friendlier service :)

Michael Brawn

Amazing selection of food. You can get salad, main course and desert either for eat in or take out. There are too many food choices to list but off the top of my head: tea biscuits, lasagna, butter tarts, jams, jellies, cakes, sandwiches and a variety of options for drinks as well. It really is a market, one of a kind. They have combined several restaurants and stores into one multi level, walk through shopping experience with an old world feel.

Love the market I've been there a few times now. The food and desserts are delicious. I love wandering around and browsing before sitting down. It can be quite crowded on the weekends - long line ups and it's hard to get a table if you want to sit down. My only criticism is that you have to line up more than once to get food from different counters.

Mariposa Market is awesome! Have been visiting for years. Renovations have made even more dining area and more options for breakfast brunch or lunch. Large tea and smoothie menu now. So many kitchen gadgets, sauces and dips and the best fudge!!

Its a very busy market. The food is excellent and the price are reasonable. The building is older and gives you that quaint country feel. The wife and i stopped in here for a soup and sandwich. I also love going to the Mariposa Market. They make the best bake goods I have ever had. They also have a great variety of food on their menu. You can't beat their choices. They also change their menu to keep you coming back for more all the time. I have never had anything that I wasn't happy with. They also have a great gift shop, and boutique. Not to mention that they have a great variety of art to choose from. There is also a large seating area throughout the store. In the basement there is a great shop called Apple Annie's. This area is full of great kitchen gadgets. Not to mention the fabulous convections. Especially the fudge. When you are in the city of Orillia Ontario Canada. Mariposa Market is definitely the main draw to the downtown area to be. You don't know what you are missing!

Fantastic three floor restaurant and bakery! I bought their Tuscan bread and a score donut and both were fresh and heavenly! A really lovely stop in Orillia!

Fantastic shop for both young and old. Great food, drinks and treats. Prices are fair and they have done a great shop creating a great atmosphere. Clean modern touches that pay tribute to the history of the business.

Mariposa used to be a 5 of 5, but my last few visits from this summer have knocked it down to a 4. Everything here used to be bang on. Favorites included the cornbread and death by chocolate cake. My favorites are still there, but you can tell, especially in the corn bread, that things have taken a step back. The corn bread just isn’t the same as years past. Same thing with some of the prepared food. Naked egg omelette was just horrible, wired texture from over baking and way, way under-seasoned. Overall had no flavour and was bad enough I couldn’t finish it. DBC cake was still good, same with the Sheppard and beef pies…until next year Mariposa….

This was so much fun! Wandering through the bakery itself-- which has a lot of gluten-free options, not just the "one cupcake of the week"-- was aesthetically pleasing, but it was also fun to go downstairs and look around. The whole place felt very much like the experience you'd have if you were the "kid in a candy store."

Every time we visit Orillia, we come here. They have such amazing cupcakes and cakes, breads and other goodies. There's a little kitchen store downstairs we love too. They have some great fudge.

Rev. Jessie Brandon

You can still get bakery items as well as take out food. The quality is excellent. They are selling home made preserves as well. A pleasant store that is open during the pandemic.

Always a great place to visit when passing through! The food, the baked goods, preserves and gifts are all wonderful! We stop here every time we're in Orillia

Great selection of pies and pastries. Their Pumpkin pie was delicious as was the Georgia Pecan Pie. Oh and on top of that we got the apple fritters which were also top notch!

So many mouthwatering selections of sandwiches, wraps, savoury pies as well decadent cakes, loafs, tarts, pies and breads await you at Mariposa Market. Shop is very busy but staff are very friendly and helpful. An interesting environment for lunch or coffee and a sweet treat. Try the back of the market for another service counter and a more intimate eating area. Highly recommended!

Fun shopping experience. Lots of nice gift ideas and pastry selection. Shop local and help sustain businesses in your area. Big box stores won't go out of business but our neighbors might if we don't help them out.

Loved the bake goods and all the other tasty treats there especially the donuts and cakes! If you go to Orillia you gotta stop there! A staple in the community and with the drive. Just make sure you bring something to wash down all the goodness!!!

Apple pie muffins sold out at 4 pm. Didn't see the parking meter, outside the door (along the walls). Paying a $15.00 parking ticket online. Had 2 deliciously expensive cups of coffee. Now I just need to get home.

A very cute and colorful place with lots of sweets and baked goods. They also serve lunch items such as wraps, sandwiches, quiche, smoothies, tea, etc. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. A must visit if you are in Orillia.

Pretty sparse with the downstairs being closed. Could be due to supply chain issues and covid. Still 4 stars as the upstairs wasn't even fully stocked. Overall a really neat place with tons of potential.

I called today at 4:47PM and spoke with Christina, to order a birthday cake for my girlfriends upcoming birthday this weekend. She offered excellent choices, and having tried many of their products in the past and have found all of them, absolutely incredible, I am confident the recommended cake (a Lemon Twist) will be the same. I continue to appreciate all of their excellent help. What a GREAT Place. _Lake Goomba

Having never been into this establishment before I was mightily impressed with the Mariposa Market! Busy with sales and 'lookers' and folks having lunches on the balconies above, the market seems a lively place even on a weekday. Side rooms offer some clothing and specialty bath and beauty items, and more baking available in the back room with extra seating booths and washrooms. Seems like there was something for everyone here, and I really enjoyed the smell of the fresh baking as I came through the door.

Holly Cascone

I've walked by many times and decided to stop in. I am so glad I did. Plenty of wonderful baked items and every variety of home style pickle/preserve/jam you can imagine as well as an "Olde Time" candy shop. They had probably the best donuts I have had in forever. There are plenty of places offering gourmet dohnuts and they are pretty much just "meh". Their basic donut topped with chocolate was the best I have had in ages. Plenty of other varieties and Texas Sized donuts. So if you enjoy a quality product make sure to put the Mariposa Market on your must visit list when you are in Orillia.

Kendra Wilson

Good idea if you guys Would place "Best Before" stickers on all your cookies (including your peanut butter ones). This way you are communicating the freshness to your customers. Also not a bad idea to indicate the caloric intake on your items as well. Food industry as a whole has moved to displaying calories to help customers make better Informed health conscious decisions.

To be honest I don't understand the draw to the Mariposa Market! It's a cute market with a nice ambiance inside. A very country boutique atmosphere. That said, prices are high, it's insanely crowded and there are NO vegan options. It's very difficult to find ingredient lists/nutritional facts on most items. It's cute to visit once and say you did but I don't think I'll be returning.

Ordered my daughters Dora birthday cake 3 weeks in advance and when the day came for me to get it it wasn't ready, made me wait an extra 40 minutes for it but that's not even the main issue. it was still hot so it completely slid off the bottom which ruined the side completely and. the cake was not even edible it was so sweet that none of the 5 guests could even handle eating it and there was a piece of something in the cake that someone almost ate either a piece of cardboard or something else. i definitely don't recommend ordering from here and i wont be ever again.

I phoned Monday morning to make sure the market would be open that day, specifically asking if they would be open regular hours and was told yes by the person on the phone. I recommended to people visiting me out of town that it would be a great idea to drive to the market. It took us well over an hour to get there only to see that the place had closed over 3 hours early. When I called I got no explanation at all as to why and certainly no understanding that we wasted so much time going there. In fact all I got was “what do you want me to say, I just work here” as a response. Really unprofessional and disappointing.

Also make sure to go downstairs to Apple Annie's for fudge and candies I haven't seen since I was a young boy. You can buy flavoured hot chocolate which everyone enjoys. Make sure you pay for parking or you will get a ticket. Enjoy!

Mariposa Market is a very warm and cozy market that has an abundance of pastries, as well as food and hot and cold drinks (coffee, hot chocolate, juices, pop, etc). I go here for a hot chocolate while studying or specifically for their extremely creamy and mouthwatering mac n cheese. The ambiance is amazingly cozy and jolly. There is another and more newer looking back side of Mariposa that has more seating as well as as a parking lot just outside of the back door entrance for all your early morning coffee and breakfast needs before work. If you’re visiting Orillia you should stop by and check it out and get yourself a little treat.

Shannon D

Mariposa Market is a wonderful place to shop for baked goods. Their breads, pies, cakes, and cookies are amazing. If you're in the mood to sit down and have a coffee and a sandwich, they have you covered there too. There's plenty of seating. I personally am not up for indoor dining during this year of Covid-19, but I appreciate that Mariposa seems to have added some barriers between tables to provide extra safety for those who do want to sit down and eat.

Kim Kochel

Mariposa market has been a staple of this to town for my entire life. The new renovation is fantastic.

It is such an interesting place. Between the bakery/cafe, Seasonal Store & Scent Shop, you're pretty much covered. I stopped in for a salad and left with my nephew's birthday present and some foot care products for myself and I did it all under the same roof. Perfect. This place has been part of my growing up and I'm no spring chicken. It is definitely a staple of Orillia. Keep up the good work Bob and team

The Mariposa Market is one of my favourite places in Orillia! They make the most amazing buttercream cakes and their pastries are wonderful. The atmosphere inside the market shows its age but has a modern flare to it. I find that it gets busy a lot of the time and it is hard to find parking. That's why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

Lynette Cook

Left within seconds of walking in the door. No one was monitoring the door so the place was extremely over crowded. Long lineups with Zero social distancing. If you are trying to stay safe during these troubled times avoid this place..

Sandra Bracken

What a great place. Awesome selection!!! I'll be back again

Brian Gillatly

Mariposa is a nice place to have a coffee or lunch. Lots of character, like an old movie theatre. I especially like the photos on the walls.

Susan Hutt

⚠️TOURIST ZONE⚠️ Although this is one of my favorite stores in the downtown area, it only gets a rating of 3 stars because of the amount of tourists that linger in/around the storefront. If you're local, you know to avoid this place like the plague (almost quite literally nowadays, especiallywith Covid) during the weekends and holidays because of how chaotic/claustrophobic it can get, especially with children and uncaring tourists. The food is delicious, but you'll have to decide if it's worth it! SO; my advice to anyone visiting the area .. Go at your own risk!!

Sean Dove

A lovely, welcoming, and warm place to step into [especially] when it’s cold outside. I was here with family, and we tried many different baked goods and loved them ALL. We didn’t try any of the savoury/lunch items, but they looked delicious. I think the prices were good based on both quality and quantity.

Mel

I always visit Mariposa Market when visiting my parents as everything there is delicious. This year with Covid, I ordered some baked items for delivery to my mother for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately mistakes happen and the wrong item was delivered. After notifying them of the mistake, they immediately refunded the money and delivered an entire basket of goodies to my mom’s house (they would have delivered the correct item if they were not sold out). I cannot say enough about the quality of customer service I received.

Joe Marc

Very disappointed, went out of my way to visit the bake shop, hoping find some egg free pastries or desserts. Entered the store with high hopes only to find out there was only some wheat free biscuits. Didn’t sound appetizing at all. Mariposa needs to realize, it is the twenty first century, we spend money and you only needed one bake option to keep us vegans happy. Don’t go, they have no take out vegan pastries options.

Kim Mattice

It was my first visit at the Mariposa Market during the weekend. They had a Christmas party going on. First impressions: The storefront was very welcoming. Once inside, I had a cabin like feeling because the interior was really pretty and quaint. The Christmas decorations were so charming! There's a good selection of items to shop for such as home, clothing, food, etc. and also for food. We tried the spinach, feta, and tomato quiche, hot chocolate, san francisco hotdog, and the Christmas cupcake. Really enjoyed the food. Customer service was great too - every staff member asked if you've been helped while we were waiting in line. Will definitely visit again!!

I have lived in Orillia for the last 22 years. Mariposa Market is still my preferred choice for a wholesome environment surrounded with treats and good people.. from entering as a child, now to be able to walk in with my daughter; this will be a lifelong tradition for my family.

Robert Brown

This place is simply amazing! Food is great, we enjoyed the meat pie and I truly have to recommend it!! Their butter tarts, and sugar twits ???????????????? so worth the line up ????????????

Philip Levett

Mariposa has always been a favourite over the years. I recently visited again after moving away to find it totally changed not for the better in my view It has lost the atmosphere that made it cozy and inviting in order to sell..sell..sell their goods. Seating removed and only upstairs or at back cold entrance. My favourite stores not within anymore or downstairs wares and fudge closed off. There is very little in the remaining store worth buying. Why can't they keep it like it was a place worth visiting..unlikely to return again. I remember the days it was a vibrant cozy meeting place we looked forward to visiting...not anymore.

Tracey Clausi

Awesome quality fresh food/baking, preserves and candy. Little pricey, but worth it.

Busy spot , other than how busy it is I would give it 5 starts , the selection and quality of the food Is amazing. The staff are all great friendly people; I go for lunch and I order cakes all the time always consistently good , the mini cakes are so tasty and the art work on the cakes make them some of the nicest cakes you can find. High marks on desserts and baked goods, and the lunch menu is fantastic for a quick hearty meal on the go. You don’t have to settle for a soup and sandwich here with the menu. When I read about this place as a must visit historic market in Orillia I thought it would be an outdoor market with antiques and baked goods! It's not outdoors but it's still pretty amazing. Looks like a small store front but once you go in you see how it expands and is really big and bustling inside. There's a bakery, freshly made lunch, coffee, smoothies, bottled spreads and sauces and there's also a basement section offering fudge. Lots of seating upstairs and outside as well. The store is connected to 2 other shops selling soaps, clothing, and souvenirs. Really enjoyed visiting here, it's a vibrant place in town that's always busy.

T Drake

Very good selection and the baked goods are fresh. Their prepared sandwiches/foods are okay, but none are memorable. Expect large crowds and rushed service. Also, they sell out fairly early in the day (I'm not sure why they don't make more, especially on a long weekend), so aim to arrive early. (The photo is of a gopher tail.)

Loads of great stuff there!! Foods, snacks, sweets cooking accessories, dishware, mugs, clothing. The foods look tasty, but we didn't buy anything

Well do not use the on line order option. 2 hours past the time line and order was not even ready. Good products but don't have an on line option if it's not perfected.

Mariposa Market always delivers. Great food, great service and a great atmosphere!

The Shepard's pie was really good, though I found the apple muffin a bit too sweet. We popped in when visiting Orillia for the day on Saturday and had a pleasant experience. Social distancing was enforced in the store and service was also efficient.

Awesome

Great selection of breads, pastries, treats, sandwiches and drinks. Expect crowds, so go in with patience. Well worth visiting.

The downstairs isn't open atm. Fabulous selection of foods and preserves. Plenty of Canadiana to be had. Bring your proof of vaccination if you want to dine on.
