I honestly can't say enough good things about this cute little bakery that is set to expand into a Tea Room too. The staff are warm, welcoming and very helpful, I'm sure when covid restrictions allow it all the tables will be filled. We tested out the lemon bar, chocolate orange brownie and the fruit bar The fruit bar is described, by my non GF, non plant based, husband as out of this world. We were lucky enough to grab one of the last flat breads and it was honestly one of the best things I've eaten in years. We enjoyed our visit so much we went back the next day and are already planning a return trip later this week.

We tried a number of different treats and they were all delicious. Staff were all very welcoming and the owner took time to go over the ingredients as I have some allergies to contend with. Next time we are planning to join them for their brunch, and spend some time to just enjoy the shop .. it has a great atmosphere.

I just moved nearby and it’s impossible to stay away from this incredible place! My Mum went in first and brought an assortment of treats, and we went back soon after and had the best bagels my partner and I have ever had. All of the baked goods are to die for and as someone who can’t have gluten it’s so amazing to be able to enjoy decadent treats again. Bagels, lemon bars, brownies, cupcakes, butter tart squares - it’s all amazing! Stop here whether you have dietary restrictions or not, but especially if you are gluten or dairy free!

First time visiting here today. Lovely little shop, and beautiful decor. Got a few muffins, cinnamon buns, and a cheese flatbread. The baked items were delicious, but the cheese bread was a great disappointment (bread was too mushy and undercooked). Good to keep in mind also, specialty goods (like these) are pricey. Will return again sometime. Found (left) an adorable painted rock outside too????!

A cute bakery with delicious food and friendly staff. The food was nice and moist and had a good balance of flavour. Only a few places to sit, but I won't count that against them as it keeps things quiet and roomy for the small shop.

Wonderful and delicious real food! My wife and I just had the chocolate donut and and chocolate cupcake with coconut frosting. Truly delicious. Even the artwork on the walls they sponsor is great. What a wonderful find in Orillia! We will back often.

OMG, we just dined at their new establishment, Tea Room, next door with our daughter Katie. I can't say enough good things about the food, exquisite taste and flavor, displayed very artistically on the plate, AND the quantity- we all left very, very full. The staff, servers, cooks are all very super pleasant and accommodating. If I could give them 10 stars I would!!!!

Thank you so much for our beautiful wedding cake! We were married in early October and were so pleased with our wedding cake from Bakes by the Lake. I am a vegan and it was so lovely to have not only a delicious autumnal vegan two-tiered carrot cake, but an absolutely stunning one as well! They also provided mini cakes for our parents and grandparents to take home after our physically distanced wedding. They collaborated with 6 Doors Up to ensure the flowers on our cake matched our wedding florals...talk about attention to detail! The result was stunning. I'm so grateful for the detail, care, and service Bakes by the Lake provided on our wedding day. Regardless of whether you are vegan or gluten free, visiting Bakes by the Lakes is a must. We've tried many of their treats and can't recommend them enough.

Bakes by the Lake, for being only one year in business, has made such a remarkable entry into the world of gluten free and dairy free. Their mantra is made from scratch and love. From the inviting surroundings of the space, that feels more like a home, to the amazing selection of goodies, every one of your senses is offered at treat. Colton and Nancy are brilliant at what they create and the hospitality in which it is delivered. Bakes by the Lake's first tea on December 15th was a memorable occasion for all and every Friday is a hit with Pizza Friday specials. If you don't live in Orillia, make this a destination visit an you will be soooo happy you did. This is my designated happy place.

Went in August 8th to try their dessert and place an order for August 13th for a birthday cake. Said it would be ready 10:30. I arrived at 11 and the employee who took my order and wrote it down says to me I think I gave away your cake. Another worker came and said the order was never communicated and I could wait 1.5 hours so they could bake one or I could take a variety pack of cupcakes. It was my mom's 70th birthday and there is no way to get a gluten free cake with zero notice. We especially drove from Gravenhurst to try their stuff and place an order and had a long drive to Toronto to take the cake. While they offered 10 cupcakes for the price of 6 it did not fix the situation and left our family cakeless on a special occasion. The employee offered a gift card but I would not return. We had plans to order a larger cake for a bigger family celebration on Sunday and they knew that but they lost my business. Never thought when my order was all written in the planner that I should have called to confirm!!

We drive 2 hrs to get to Orillia and Bakes by the Lake is our favourite place to go. Not only is the food gluten free (we are celiac) but delicious and the service is exceptional. My daughter who is 8 is positively acknowledged everytime we go (most shops ignore the kids) and this means the world to her. Thank you for all you do. Especially during this pandemic. They are also doing breakfast outside and meals on Fridays when the street is closed down. AMAZING

Ambiance, food, and service! Even during unique time of social distancing and masks, nothing can dim the radiance of this establishment. First time in Orillia and while walking discovered this gem. We had dessert and were blown away by the delicious butter tart square and sticky toffee pudding. The shortbread crust of the butter tart square is godly. Definitely, some of the most delicious baked goods I have ever eaten. We had amazing service and genuine chat with one of the owners. We had an espresso and a latte that were also very satisfying. We ended.up leaving with donuts and a lemon square, which were also incredible. Definitely worth another visit.

Checked out Bakes by the Lake for the first time yesterday and we were WOWED! From the atmosphere, to the staff and of course the fabulous treats! I had the Lemon cake with an Almond Milk Latte & my hubby had the Black Forest. So yummy! Definitely a new fave!

BEST coffee & treats in town!!! My husband, who isn't a fan of gluten-free baked goods, LOVES their muffins & donuts (which are seriously amazing). Such delicious treats. Their desserts are gluten free without that gluten free taste. We served them to guests who can eat gluten and they couldn’t tell they were gluten free. The staff is so friendly and personable. I’ve eaten the butter tarts, carrot cake, cookies and cream cup cake, peanut butter bar and everything has been so good. The best part is that they don’t just fill it with extra sugar to mask the taste. It’s not too sweet. It’s truly perfect and so nice to be able to enjoy sweets again!

This is our favourite gluten free bakery! We have never had anything that we didn't like. Family owned and operated too. We often will make a trip to the bakery just to pick up goodies for celebrations, even if it means driving out of our way. We picked up some goodies last weekend for my birthday, and pre-ordered. When we arrived, everything was waiting for us. If you haven't tried this bakery, I highly recommend. The cinnamon buns are a hit with my family.
