Cakestar made our wedding cake. It was a custom wedding cake, made to look like LEGO blocks. It looked absolutely fantastic! They handled the delivery, it so it was one less thing to worry about on the day of. Most importantly, it tasted amazing. The icing was silky smooth without being overly sweet. When inquiring about placing the order for the cake everything was good, all were friendly. As soon as I paid for the order in full the pleasantries were no longer there. The cake was way over priced and when I asked why the cake was so expensive no explanation was given. A lady name Barb was extremely rude, I would never order a cake from here again. They also have great treats in store that you don't want to miss. If you are visiting friends, their selection makes a nice gift instead of getting a bottle of wine. I want to share my excellent experience with CakeStar. It was a very convenient, pleasant, rapid process. I was able to order a custom cake for my son's birthday completely online from the initial inquiry to delivery over a two week period with an exchange of four or five emails. Two weeks before my son's birthday, I got the idea to order a birthday cake for my son whom I haven't seen in a year due to the pandemic. I used the Cakestar site to ask for a quote on a custom cake. My initial email was answered within one day by "Monja"; I had asked if they could do a cake version of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece "Falling Waters" and I included some photos of the actual building in my first email. Monja replied with a suggestion from the CakeStar "cake artist" that could be made in the time available which looked fine. We agreed on a budget. For anyone wondering, ordering a custom cake from a cake artist is not cheap; however, if you are budget conscious, I am sure CakeStar can accommodate you but you will have to compromise on the complexity of your cake design. I also asked for delivery to downtown Toronto. Monja sent me an invoice for the cake and a reasonable delivery fee ($45) that I paid online without any trouble. She also checked the cake flavours, the address and time for delivery, and the message to put on the cake. The cake was delivered on time in a good condition. It was the smallest size available but surprisingly large and heavy. The design was surprisingly detailed but I can only give a general idea because all of my contact and interaction has been online. The cake artist put a lot of effort into capturing the water and the foliage (!). The chimney of Falling Waters was perfectly captured by what seemed to be different sheets of marzipan (?!) The multi-levels of the building were well represented and the windows were outlined in fine lines of red icing. There was a sheet of white chocolate (?) that represented the balcony and it also had cutouts. Honestly, I can't imagine how many hours this must have taken to put the design together! The cake itself was apparently delicious with a North American birthday cake taste - in other words, quite sweet. I am certain that if you talk in advance with CakeStar they can use different sponges and icings. My son and his friends were astonished and delighted and he had a memorable birthday party. To summarize: 1. a custom designed cake is not cheap but I am completely satisfied with because of the quality of the finished product; 2. communication with CakeStar and Monja was efficient, responsive, helpful, and friendly; 3. if you have a complicated design, you need to give CakeStar time to do the project 4. be prepared for a large, heavy cake. Cakestar was amazing with the sushi inspired cake that they made for my boyfriend's 27th birthday. I got chocolate pound cake with chocolate ganache filling. It really was the buzz of the party. It was very beautiful, and unique. I had a surprise party for my boyfriend, and not only was he surprised to be surrounded by his family and friends, but he was even more surprised by the elaborate cake. It was so delicious; moist, chocolatey, decadent... I could go on and on. The buttercream was light and fluffy. Absolutely sublime. The entire process of ordering the cake was perfect. Barbara was so nice, and accommodating. I had my cake delivered to my address, as I do not live close to the bakery at all. This was a major plus. I will definitely be ordering from CakeStar again for my next event. Thank you guys so much. I highly recommend.

I Wish I could select more rating stars!! I cannot begin to thank the CakeStar crew for turning my vision into a reality. I’ve always been very skeptical about custom made anything because I’m filled with doubt that anyone would ever be able to create a mirror image of the ideas and pictures I have in my head. I didn’t think it was possible. Especially, during a pandemic when you have to outline all the details you want on a cake, through email. CakeStar did more than just create my DETAILED vision (I’m a Virgo so detail and perfection is everything)into a cake, they created memories that will last a lifetime for me, close friends and family and most importantly the birthday boy, my fiancé. He is so hard to please! He walked away from the cake because he couldn’t believe how on point everything was. We travelled to Niagara from Toronto with the cake on Friday , I presented it to him Friday night and he couldn’t bring himself to cut it until the night we left (Sunday). EVERYONE was is aweee of this masterpiece. I didn’t even see the full cake until I presented it to him. This is how much Monja made me feel that I was in good hands. To sum it up: I sent an email to Monja describing every little detail from the rubber bands on the stacks to how I wanted everything placed. She/they understood my vision through email. Down to every last detail and they even went further to add some of their own details to make it that much more real. In less than a week, during a pandemic, where email had to be used to describe what I wanted due to social distancing, complete strangers made what I thought was impossible, possible. You made me a believer. There was not one single thing I could find wrong with the cake (believe me I looked). You created one of the greatest memories for my family and I and at the end, the memories are all that last. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU! I wish I could select more stars!!

I ordered my 4yr olds birthday cake from here. Best birthday cake by far! We picked the cake up Saturday, had the party on Sunday and the cake tasted fresh, not overly sweet, decorated beautifully and most of all the kids and adults loved it. Will definitely be ordering all our cakes from Cakestar from now on! (oh and they make the most delicious Italian donuts!)

I am continually amazed by how great Cake Star's cakes are! They always deliver beautifully designed cakes with amazing flavour every time! I have used their cakes for baby showers, birthdays and special occasions and their cakes are always the talk of the event. Truly worth every penny for the quality inside and out. I also need gluten free cakes often and they are the best I have ever tasted!

i called to order two dozen cupcakes bc i had had cupcakes and cakes from them in the past. when i asked the girl on the phone if she could had little hearts on them she told me that it would be .50 cents extra. when i asked if one of the cup cakes could have a little snoopy on it she said that it would be 35 dollars on top of the price of the cupcake. -- i said forget it. so for just two dozen chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with little little hearts on them the girl told me it would be about 100 dollars, i kindly responded that id pass. I have worked in the hospitality industry for the majority of my life, seven years at a successful well know bakery in the GTA, those prices are absurd. yes, i understand you are paying for the time to make a little character but for a small one to go on a cupcake that is ridiculous. and to pipe a little heart that takes a total of 15 seconds i have to pay fifty cents on top of the price of the cupcake, give me a break. unless these cupcakes are made with ingredients flown in from parts of the world at the highest of quality, there is no justification for the one hundred dollars for 24 cupcakes. sadly they have lost my business and those of my family and friends.

I was blown away by the custom cake I ordered. The execution and attention to detail were superb. As a part of my design I had two animal figurines on top of the cake; they were very meticulously crafted and very cute. The team at Cakestar is extremely talented, helpful, and friendly. Highly recommended.

Everyone there is nice until you pay them in full and the manners disappear. For the price you pay you'd think you'd get an amazing cake. Cakes are decent you can definitely go elsewhere to get the same cakes without the rude attitude and over paying. I personally wouldn't ever recommend this place. Save your money!

Amazing cake! We had our son's First Communion cake made here. It looked beautiful and tasted fantastic. People kept asking for seconds! We would definitely recommend Cakestar!

This bake shop makes the best custom cakes. Moist & rich with delicious butter cream filling. I wanted a cake for my husband's 59th birthday, incorporating his 2 fave things: his guitar and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Excellent job on the design. They can make anything, any shape, any design. They're so accommodating! This is my go to place and I highly recommend them.

I loved how you understood immediately what I was looking for, provided pics of similar designs you had done before and quickly put me at ease in confirming that you could do what I was looking for, no problem, and able to deliver too. I also loved how the cake was delivered, in a secure open box but with clear wrap, so it was covered but could be easily seen until ready to be cut. Nice touch. Not only a beautiful cake to look at, but quite delicious as well, not overly sweet, just right. We recently had a birthday for my son’s 5th B-day and my wife and I ordered a Jurassic park themed cake , we provided a picture and size of the cake needed... well needless to say it wasn’t what we ordered... it was far better and more detailed then what was in the picture and the taste was amazing.... we were contemplating whether to stop at Metro and get a cheap $20 cake for everyone to eat instead of this masterpiece... honestly it was that great...we had a few people at the party that don’t do the whole cake thing that were asking for a second slice ...and the look on my son’s face was priceless and that for me is money well spent We honestly can’t wait to see what the next cake is like for my daughter .... amazing no doubt.. BRAVO TO CAKE STAR ..!!
