A great little place where everything is freshly baked. The smoked cheddar croissant is one of the best I've ever had. A little pricey but worth it

.09.04. We cannot finish the day without "Happy Birthday Monica". Cake was from @Butter Baker. First time to try their cake. Hmmm yum yum the best was the coffee flavour. It was great to end a sweeeeeet and lovely day. They also have icecream with fresh prepared waffle cones.

Pearl

Tried all cakes!! Their fruit flavors are really nice. My favorite ones are blueberry lemon dream and raspberry & pistachio.

Rachel Neave

Cute, clean minimalistic space. We stopped by here after our original icecream choice had a wait. I absolutely loved the guava/vanilla swirl. I never experienced guava soft serve before and it is a treat! We will be returning to try other pastries sometime soon. We had a lovely experience and with kind and fast service.

Kasia

Lost our MINDS at how good their Pistachio Raspberry cake was! It was so soft, juicy, creamy, literally everything you could wish for. Ugh <3

staacc _y

Love the seasonal ice creams (they change every month I think)! Just got the strawberry vanilla soft serve, really hits the spot on a hot sunny day! Service is quick and everytime I've been to this place, I'm in and out in five minutes. Will definitely be back again ????

Nice little bakery just west of eaton center. I have been trying artisanal coffees around the city and I have to say their Mocha is one of the best in the city . They also have creative pastries cakes and croissants. A Must try if you love coffee .

aka.foodiedreams

Tiramisu has always been my favorite cake! Just look at all those layers! The matchamisu tastes amazing as well! It's like matcha & tiramisu combined toegther, with matcha cake and mascarpone & matcha crème!

Reggie Gecale

Amazing customer service! By the lovely girl at counter I thoroughly enjoyed the iced bakers latte I got here. The matcha cookie was really good too. Looking forward to be back

Cathy Bogaart

Triple chocolate croissant was delicious! Flaky outside, moist and chewy inside. Not overly sweet, tempered by enough salt. Lemon meringue croissant is waiting for my hunger to resurface, but can't imagine it being better. The only improvement: offer decaf coffee/espresso beverages!

Christina Quach

It melts so fast! But the flavour is wonderful and not too sweet which is nice. The cone is so fragrant and made w lots of butter :)

mia clemente

Space is clean and minimalistic, light and airy. Pastries are showcased beautifully. Only came in to try the lemon meringue croissant this one time. Croissant was a little too dry and meringue and lemon filling were just too sweet. It instagrams prettily but I won't buy it again. Too sweet for my tastes. Will have to come another time to try their other pastries as they looked great and will hopefully change my rating and make it higher. Staff was super nice, attentive and helpful.

Cole McCallum

Higher priced but good price-quality ratio I would recommend the tiramisu ice cream

Andrea Santos

- i finally got the chance to try their famed ice cream after seeing/hearing so much about it! - this months flavour was passion fruit x vanilla soft serve - the passion fruit had a nice tanginess to offset the creaminess of the vanilla which worked perfectly - would probably enjoy the mango, blueberry, and strawberry flavors more so I cant wait to try those and also some cake slices next time

Aarya Designs

Best cakes hands down in Toronto! Absolutely the pistachio raspberry cake and strawberry shortcake. I also like the tiramisu and birthday cake. But man this is my fav cake place and I always come here and buy a few slices. The prices make absolutely perfect for such high quality products the taste is superb.

Thomas Farago

Do yourself a favour and drop the Starbucks ritual at least once—to try this place out. It’s great. The vibe is really pleasant, and the baked goods and coffee are stellar. 6/5 stars.

David R.

Reasonable price for the location, friendly staff. Cake was good. Cookies we're good. Open late-ish.

I finally got to visit this adorable dessert cafe yesterday as I've heard great things about them. Be prepared, when you first step in, you'll be surrounded by a butter smell that'll make you extra hungry There were a lot of dessert choices to choose from, especially pastries and cakes. The staff kindly greeted us and asked if we had any questions (which we did). We ordered the lemon meringue crossiant and the special they had for the soft serve was Strawberry/Vanilla. The crossiant was delicious as it was super soft and the skin was very buttery & flakey. The lemon cream was very flavourful and it's great that you could actually taste a hint of lemon in it. Inside the crossiant was filled with lemon cream that oozed out with every bite. The soft serve was flavorful and definitely very soft and creamy. I love how the cone wasn't too crunchy and was buttery as well. The only thing I wish for was that they had more seats, and we were lucky that people were starting to leave when we ordered. I definitely will come back again for their other desserts and hopefully get to try their other pastries and soft serve flavours! TIP: it can get pretty messy eating the crossiant, so it's best to ask for lots of napkins IG: @Ayenomz

Some of the best soft serve I’ve ever had. Their cakes are also amazing, especially the tiramisu! I love how they change up their flavour on a monthly basis, makes it exciting to come back again! Mango has been my favourite so far - wish it was permanent!!

Huzefa Kagdi

The blueberry lime pastry tasted very good. It had milk chocolate in it and was not very sweet. Also it was priced reasonably. There were other tempting options as well which we will try in the future.

Mia Gagic

I ordered two cakes for my daughter’s birthday party, the blueberry lemon and the vanilla sprinkle. I typically wouldn’t write a review but these cakes were so delicious! I have never had so many compliments before, all the guests absolutely loved them. And the $5 delivery service is a bonus!

Kerrie Chan

They offer vanilla ice cream regularly plus a daily featured flavour, and today’s feature is blueberry sorbet. I like the vanilla ice cream but the blueberry sorbet was a bit too sweet. Anyway it looks good. They made the cone too, which is thick and sweet. The place, as it is named, offer also bakery products and coffee.

Monique DaSantos

The soft serve was delicious!! It was creamy and the strawberry, vanilla flavours come through. We will most definitely be back!!! ☺

Valeriya Stepura

I've order a cake online for my son's birthday a month prior. Honesty, the only thing I took care of. When I came to pick it up, the order was not ready and moreover the cake was discontinued, can't even describe how mad I was. They couldn't figure out how this could happen. Long story short Next day, they very quickly found a solution for us made and delivered that exact cake. I am very grateful they didn't left us without sweets for kids, because it was a highlight of the party. Thank you! The cake itself was very delicious. Just a tip for whoever placing orders online, check with the bakery two days before, so you can be secure for your event.

Rachel Poon

Best soft-serve hands down! Their monthly fruit sorbets are one of a kind & have been enjoying them in pints as well!

Dejan Zivanovic

If I was rating the way this sorbet looks on the instagram I'd give it 5 stars, however... Nothing special, watery and overpriced. I will not go there again. Gelato over Sorbet any day!

Shivani Karkhanis

I followed this store because of their Instagram page I stumbled upon and it was close by to me. I guess I had always seen a huge queue outside their store while waiting for the bus. I got lucky when I went there was no one and I could take my lil time to soak in the aroma. The moment I walked in the store, the warm buttery air filled me. The staff was cheerful although the guy was not specifically excited to go through the flavours and the components of their cakes and croissants since I was visiting them for the first time. I also mentioned that I followed their Instagram page and came here but he seemed unappreciative of that. You know generally owners/ workers get excited to hear that. Coming to the flavours, I tried their passion fruit x vanilla ice cream in a cone and it was delicious and perfect as an instagrammable item. It started melting right away in my hand in about a minute and the taste felt more of a sorbet than ice cream. I wouldn't really prefer it in a cone the next time just because the cone couldn't hold the ice cream just in about 2 mins. The vanilla flavoured cone was so good but I would rather have bits of it topped on my ice cream than to have it. Next I tried their strawberry vanilla croissant and it was amazing. The flaky croissant, the jammed strawberry with little bit of tanginess to it with the cream filling and powdered sugar gave it just a bit of sweetness to it. I personally would love a tiny bit of sweet taste to the croissant base but this was still so good. The third item I packed was tiramisu cake and it is again, a good choice Prices are decent.

Adorable little bakery sandwiched in between 2 other sweet shops. I'm glad I stumbled upon this one though. My friends got the frozen custard and they said it was REALLY good. I'll have to go back to try it. They had a lot of pastries I wanted to try though and I settled on the matcha custard strawberry danish. The crust was so deliciously flakey and buttery. The custard was sweet, but not too sweet. And the fruit was an excellent touch. The decor was simple and brightly light. It's a small space, so there's not a ton of seating, b/c this place always seems to be super busy, but that's a good sign!

Christina K

Birthday Cake was sugary, not much flavour. The Sachertorte has a super chocolate smell, some nice orange bits, and some sourness which is a good contrast.

Ken Chau

This place was definitely better pre-covid. I use to go here quite often but recently it has been gross. The cakes are so dry and taste old. Oh wells, wasted $$$ maybe I'll go back when buisness is better and I stop getting old products.

Milly B

small Japanese bakery with delicate heart. love their matcha tiramisu chiffon cake!

Ha Pham

Stopped by on a super hot day to grab some ice cream and treats. I originally wanted the tiramisu soft serve but it’s a new item so they haven’t received it yet. Instead I got the swirl soft serve which was really nice. They offer croissants and other treats and cold desserts. They have coffee and cakes too. There are two high tables if you want to enjoy their treats inside but no chairs. The employee helping us was helpful and friendly.

Victor Cao

Had high hopes for this place. Smoked salmon croissant. This thing was beyond salty. I could drink sea water and it'll be bland compared to this monstrosity. Banana caramel cookie. Tasted mealy and undercooked. Tasted neither banana not caramel just sweet. Butterscotch cookie is just sweet. Nothing else. Apple pie lacked any spices that made it an apple pie. Filling also felt like apple sauce. Strawberry shortcake slice. Just sweet. Flat. Sweet. Ginger molasses cookies were alright. Had better at Costco

Hilda N.O

The cakes are not great! Did not like any of them. Tasted amazing cakes. This was not one. And to think I bought a whole cake not a slice????

Maura Posadas

Enjoyed what I purchased here! Thank you!

Sonia C

Loveeee the guava Ice cream here!! Have yet to try their pastries but they’re delicious to look at already lol

Katrina J

Most delicious pastries in Toronto! Bakers latte is a must try.

Karyna H.

Lovely looking pastries, but the service we received was disappointing. We won't be back.

Lucy Chai

Pricy but delicious. I love their monthly soft serve - the strawberry in particular was superb.

Dario Leonardo

Have only ever tried their soft serve… t I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it was SUBLIME!

Owen Wiseman

While incredibly delicious - the Strawberry Vanilla swirl was a whooping $6.50. The presentation is beautiful, and the bakery itself is gorgeous, but I can't say I'll be back for the ice cream. The danish's and Matcha cookies were calling my name though...

Tiffany Ferrer

I bought a raspberry pistachio cake for my mom's birthday and it was the best cake I've ever had!!! I highly recommend this flavour. It was delivered on time and came with a nice birthday card. I will definitely be back to try to other cakes.

Clam

Amazing bakery. The cakes are all good and worth it. The pastries are nice but I do wish they had more variety. The ice cream is delicious and always has line ups in the summer.

Priya Kumari XII-A

The staff is extremely friendly and the music was great! The bottles are also very fairly priced compared to other clubs in Toronto that charge way too much. 10/10 experience here!

Anonymous R

Ice cream is on the sweet side. I prefer savory over sweet, but presentation and quality are good.

Julia Zhu

Came here for the first time and bought a pecan tart, services was great! Very welcoming, patient, and nice services. Love how the bakery is clean and neat! After enjoying my pecan tart I was encouraged to go back for another treat! If looking for a nice French pastries treat, I highly recommend this bakery! My favourite in downtown ????

Jess Lim

Japanese styled bakery. If you like matcha and light flavors in your pastry and cakes, this is the place to check out. The picture is a well eaten matchamisu.

Isabella J

Had the passion fruit and vanilla ice cream it was very yummy ????

Arielle Azmon

Literally the best cake I’ve ever had, thank you (milk chocolate passion fruit)! The cookies and soft serve are amazing too. Anything with passion fruit, highly recommended. The best place for all types of baked goods in Toronto in my opinion.

Karishma Rane

Love their ice cream, the best part is that they have a new fruity flavor every month.

angela zhang

very clear website to select a cake and book a time to pickup.

Jacqueline Joy

Always love their seasonal softserves and croissants. They have a cute plant-filled nook at the front for sitting. Minimalistic, bright, and cozy place.

Diana Nguyen

I like coming to try their seasonal flavours. The line gets pretty long but I don't mind waiting

Eric Wong

Been here a few times. Generally have to go early in the day to find the best selection of pastries. Consistent quality each time. Friendly staff.

Pooja Prem Kumar

Tiny spot nestled along the variety of spots on Dundas. Clean and minimalist look inside. Friendly smiling staff greeted us and let us take our time trying to make up our mind! They have some amazing freshly baked pastries and soft serves. We ended up getting the Tahitian vanilla soft serve, passion fruit chocolate cake and the Tiramisu cake. All three were delicious. They were all fresh and super tasty. The highlight was the soft serve. It was just vanilla but it was so delicious and flavourful. Will definitely come back to try some of their other interesting items!

Christopher Choquette

Don't come for the icecream. I was a loyal customer and came every month for it. Now, I prefer McDonald's ice cream over Butter Baker. Over the past 3 visits, the texture was consistently icy and the flavour wasn't delicious anymore. Not only is it drastically overpriced, but I truly do not even want to finish it. I asked the employees and this seems to be their desired ice cream. If you're coming for anything else, their bakery items are splendid. But, because the icecream was one of their star items, I have to give a 1 star to reflect my disappointment in it. I hope this review will lead to butter Baker ice cream returning to its former glory.

Joel Nguyen

Ordered a week ahead and when coming to pick up after 5:30 PM, still had to wait for an additional 10-15 minutes. The instructions for pick-up specifically mention to skip the line immediately but the customer representative was too busy dealing with other customers due to gift cards not being accepted in the Dundas location.

Aalaap Majgavkar

Good people, quick service. The ice creams were good. I’d recommend to definitely try it out.

Momina Dar

I started hating cakes for a while there because I got them from grocery stores. Their raspberry pistachio changed my mind. Now for every birthday I get a cake from them. …

Jamie Pink

Fresh, delicious cookies and cakes ❤️ Highly recommend matcha white chocolate cookie! Not too sweet!! And the Baker’s tiramisu cake is also one of my favourite!

Jonathan Li

It's a cute, miniscule bakery whose atmosphere instantly warm up this chilly Spring morning. Their croissants were as crispy as cracked caramel, yet pleasantly moist throughout the interior. Lovely customer service provided by two young and warming bakers. Would recommend ???? Notes: - Small, yet delicate selection of baked goods - No table seating, they have square benches - Mild tea, not too strong

Tony C

We tried their mango and vanilla ice creams. They were good. I can easily recommend them to others. However, I personally didn't think they were particularly better than other sorbet Ice creams sold at a more affordable price in town. I'd get them again if I'm near the shop and craving some Ice cream though.

Srilakshmi p

Really yummy pastries and cookies. sorbets rich in flavor

Roger Hein

Been going to BB for a while now. Love this tiny bakery. Everything is consistently well 'baked', no soggy bottoms. Fruit sorbet is cool and refreshing in the Summer. Friendly service, clean establishment.

farhan hasan

Their cakes are amazing. Their soft serve was also pretty good, had the blueberry and vanilla swirl. I wouldn't recommend getting only pure fruit flavor serving as it can be overpowering. Balancing with the vanilla is better.

Jordan Langille

Amazing - that is one word to describe everything you get at Butter Baker, and consistently delicious, everytime! Two favorites - their butter tart is one of the best I've ever had, and their matchamisu signature cake! Matcha and tiramisu combined, yes puhlease! All I gotta say is you 'butter' check this place out!!

Kelvin Chan

Had their blue berry vanilla twist ice cream and it was delicious. The sweetness of vanilla and fruitiness of blueberry was a great mix. Hope to see it around again next year

Ali Syed

Came out to try the soft serve. No flavours available other than vanilla. Honestly tasted like frozen custard baby food. Nothing special for that price or wait time. Maybe other flavours taste better.

Melva Balkaran

Customer service on returning item just picked up in store after paying in full online cannot be done, Period. Structure needs to be in place, never referring or returning

Alexandra Kam

Ordered the Assorted Cookies which I got to try in different flavours! Very moist when you first bite into it!

Shaharyar Khuhro

Desserts are delicious. I would recommend the R&P (raspberry-pistachio) cake. Everything is on the expensive side since it's Toronto. 4/5 since it's a super tight and uncomfortable experience ordering in that small hallway they have. Also only get the apple cake if your don't mind having raw-ish apple in your cake.

Junichi Sorimachi

The apple caramel cake is amazing! Lights up my thanksgiving dinner like a champ, can’t wait to see what they will have for Christmas!

Chuan Chee

The pastries are good, especially their strawberry matcha danish and lemon meringue croissant. The cakes are too pricy for a very small slice. We bought the coconut cream cake and it was delicious. The staff is courteous. There is no WiFi.

Nurin Fazil

A little expensive if you're just looking to grab some ice cream. The sorbet cone is very delicious and you get a good quantity of it as well. The parlour is also very cute and a nice place to finish your ice cream.

Massooma Pirbhai

Went there for the first time and ordered a croissant with strawberry and custard. It was really good and I would definitely go again. There are not a lot of seating but there are places close by where you can go and eat. The people were extremely nice too. The only thing I disliked was the taste of the earl grey tea.

Han Nguyen

Ordered butter croissant, tiramisu, earl grey cake at Butter Baker and it was fresh, delicious and not too sweet. I will to try the matchamisu next time!

Christina Zhu

I ordered online on a Wednesday night for a Friday delivery. The delivery process was very smooth. Good covid protocol. I had ordered the chocolat chocolat cake and it was a big hit.

Aidin 1805

Best Ice cream I ever had : totally worth the line ????????

C k

This place makes yummy treats. The staff are friendly. This video a definitely a treat place. The lemon meringue coissent are great.

Andy Ng

Solid Japanese style bakery serving up familiar baked goods and pastries. Items are beautifully prepared, are considerably less sweet, and I appreciate the creative flavor combinations (green tea and strawberries!). The cost is a tad on the high side considering the amount and sizes.

Janny Lee

Pre-COVID, I loved coming here to smell all the desserts and to grab a croissant. Recently, we ordered the 8'' matchamisu cake a few days ahead. We found it difficult to pick one cake, because they are all so photogenic on the website! When I arrived to pick it up, it was ready at the stated time. Unfortunately, it was nicely wrapped and I was unable to see what it looked like inside until we delivered it to the birthday girl. Everyone enjoyed the taste of the cake and the subtle taste of the matcha and how incredibly soft the cake was.

Mohnish Chhabra

Incredibly poor customer experience with Butter Baker...They add the word ‘Note’ after the happy birthday greeting because of an error with their ordering system. They offer no apology, no solution and ask me to deal with the situation myself. I would not take the chance next time If I want to ensure that my special event is not spoiled. Offering no apology to the customer after making an error shows arrogance!! Additional comments after the response from the business claiming that they cannot be responsible for my mistake: 1) Their online order process tool removes all text formatting from the special instructions text box after the order is submitted. And converts the entire text in 1 line after removing all punctuations. That is the root cause of this issue. That tool is owned and managed by the business = Butter Baker mistake 2) I had my cake message typed in the special instructions section and not in the text box meant only for cake messages. Agreed, I use the ideal text box to give my instructions but it’s not like the instructions were completely missed. Butter Baker read the instructions in the other box and included the Happy Birthday greeting on the cake. But now they say that they have the right to read my instructions wrong and have the right to make an error because the instructions were not in the ideal text box?! I’m trying to chose the right adjective for their attitude - ‘Revengeful’ or ‘Amateurish’ or ‘Arrogant’ or should we just call it ‘Stupid’ = Butter Baker mistake 3) Not once do they acknowledge any mistake on their end (look at the attached email pictures). On the contrary they disregard the inconvenience the customer has to go through because they could not deliver what was asked of them. = Butter Baker mistake Butter Baker clearly has no pride in their product or customer experience. They clearly focus more on attributing mistakes on customers instead of focusing on fixing them. I have dealt with a lot of small businesses, and have experienced how they go above and beyond in making it right for the customer. Some small business owners use these imperfect situations to create a perfect customer experience even when the mistake actually belongs to the customer. That is what allows them to stand out from the others. Butter Baker is clearly NOT that business.

Dina Santina

Butter Baker is a really nice cozy quick grab and go bakery.Their danish tarts were very excellent. I would love to come back and try the rest of their pastries and potentially cakes. I wasn’t able to try any of their drinks but I’d definitely recommend their pastries. There are places for you to stand and eat your delish small bites but not much for sitting down. Not ideal for meeting people. It’s really for a quick bite.

Kanishk Noel

Awesome Bakery. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Great customer service too!

Victor Powerline

I tried out an assorted selection of croissants, and they're all so crispy and yummy! Excellent pastry! I totally recommend them. =)

Grace Wang

Love the Butter Baker ! Esp their pear tarts. The pastries are flaky and buttery. Cakes are a tad bit more sweet than I like but it is a dessert so enjoy it while we can!

Yin Yin

I went here three times in the summer for the passion fruit & vanilla swirl and I was rly sad when I saw on ins that I missed the raspberry & yogurt swirl. Today I came with my friend for the chocolate & mocha swirl and the experience was not as well. The bottom of the cone was not totally closed and the soft serve was dripping all the time. Meanwhile, the texture of the soft serve tasted too much like water. Not creamy enough for a chocolate flavor. It suits sobert more. Also, the soft serve was not sitting stably in the cone. I was super worried if it would fall off. And also, I felt the mocha flavor was not strong enough and it was covered by the chocolate flavor.

Ellen Wong

I've only tried their Viennoiseries - texture is definitely the better than similar products from nearby bakeries. The layers are well defined, with outside layers very crispy and inner layers softer and chewier. When you press on the inside layers, they don't gel back together and there's no excess grease. Flavour-wise, I found them on the saltier side. Price range is high, but for the given quality, I would not mind the splurge once in a while.

Rin Van

I ordered online a Matchamisu cake for my friend’s birthday and picked up from the Markham HQ. Process was easy breezy! Cake was SO AMAZING OMG. The vanilla frosting was light, not too sweet and so fresh. It perfectly complimented the slight bitterness of the matcha flavour while still maintaining the integrity of the vanilla. I could taste the fresh cream & vanilla bean in every bite. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Vanilla is a pretty standard flavour, but for this reason, it can be difficult to do well. To me, if a bakery’s vanilla impresses me, I’m sold. Vanilla frosting paired with matcha sponge = solid cake. I can’t wait for more birthdays so I have an excuse to order it again. YUM!

Nikki Wu

Amazing croissants! So buttery and flaky. The service was great too, the staff members were helpful and provided excellent recommendations. It’s a small store front - no seating area available.

C. Franco Zambrano

One word: overated. An overpriced ice-cream with a "Meh" flavour and dry cakes and cookies... And on top of that... Expect waiting in line...

Tuqa T

I saw a lot of pictures here and in Uber Eats. I asked hubby to bring me a matchamisu and I was really shocked by how small it was compared to the price. If I were there I wasn’t going to take it. The flavor is just ok nothing special. Couldn’t taste any cream cheese with all the butter frosting.

Courtney benish

Came from Hamilton to visit a friend in the city for the day. We hit up Butter Baker fpr our sweet fix. What a cute location, very clean and super friendly. But the product are not just beautiful but the best danish I've ever had....i had the grape danish and every bite was like heaven. I bought a croissant and ate it the way home. I will be stopping there again next time I'm in the city.

Wilhelmina Tintwhistle

I’ve only had their classic croissants but they are absolutely delicious. Flakey and crispy outside and warm puffy inside. I have been on the hunt around Toronto for the best croissants availabke and this is definitely up there. If you like croissants, try Butter Baker’s croissants. I think you’ll enjoy it very much.

Knezle Pineda

I came and got the Valentine and Earl grey cake slices. Both were amazing! A little pricey for a slice but I still want to go back and try the rest of their cakes and sweets. Highly recommend!

Rach

Called in prior to my visit to enquire about 8" cakes available for same day pick-up but was not allowed to put any on hold due to store policy. The person on the phone said there are a few available and I should be ok. When I got there, the cake I wanted was already pre-sliced, and they said they had to charge me per slice vs the 8" cake price. Ended up getting another cake flavour instead... It was good but abit sweet.

J J

I have been visited this place several times but this time it was so disappointed. The server looked mad even I didn't do anything. I asked some questions for choosing cakes but she was unpleasant and answered shortly like 'that's it' or 'there'. It wasn't helpful at all and I felt so uncomfortable about the attitude. Even the taste is good, the service is bad.

mister dumpling

Cheese croissant ~ flakey and buttery but somehow dry.

Miguel Chang

Nice bakery near the city hall of Toronto. Pastries were fresh and delicious. Had the macha cookie and banana caramel cookie, which were amazing. Nice and cozy to relax and get some desserts after lunch.

Dhwani Babla

Their almond crossaint was unfortunately okay :( I was so excited to try it but just wasn't that great

Sonny Mai

The ice creme here was great, tasted light and fresh and the waffle cone was delishous too. There had lots of baked goods in the store that looked good, but I didn't try any when I was there, definitely looked like a great selection though. There are lines that form outside and only 2 people inside at a time right now, so everything is nice and safe too. Definitely great looking food here that photographs well

James Gauthier

Loved that I walked into a French patisserie. The pastries looked amazing, the lovely smell of all the baked goods and very reasonable prices!! Definitely would go back

Amir “AMQ” Qods

Nice beautiful store , the lady who was working there was also nice , I bought 4 pieces of cake and they taste good and look nice, packaging was so simple and not convenient at all when you wanna eat them , sort of expensive for that kind of cakes and packaging so 4 star ???? is even high :)

Amanda Nguyen

Favourite dessert place ❤️ This month’s specialty is passion fruit and it was amazing! The vanilla swirl perfectly balanced the tartness of the passion fruit. I also got the blueberry and lemon cake which was fantastic as well. Not too sweet which is a sign of a great cake!!

Karan T

The soft serve swirl with Hazelnut is not Hazelnut enough. The caramel spilled all over the cone and when I asked to use a washroom to wash my hands, the employee just said, oh we have napkins. Please think about what happens to caramel when I use paper napkins to wipe it? It will just make a stick paper mess. Terrible service. If you are going to serve the soft serve with caramel, maybe you should have a ring around the cone to catch the extra sauce or you should take it out completely. Completely flawed design. I will not be returning.

HerofCanada

Took advantage of a work day in Toronto and gave them a try. Bought the limited edition strawberry ice cream with the option to get only the strawberry and not combine it with vanilla. For seven bucks it was a good amount, as there's more within the cup. Loved it,didn't care if it was freezing yesterday IN MAY LOL. Didn't have to worry about getting a ticket as covid causes the streets to not have as much patrol. Only two customers were allowed at a time. Cute small shop, will go again.

Penny

This was once my favourite bakery, the croissant and strawberry matcha danish were the best. But soon they increased the price while the pastries just got smaller and smaller. Still i went there, but last time i went, the chocolate croissant that i used to love so much was just flat! It was so small with no volume, i don't even know what happened, those once glorious fat croissants just looked so ugly and thin. Adding one star for the top customer service, the owner cares about the reviews and tried to fix it.

Stephen Lubin

Tried a few pastries from here and across the board they've all been flaky and delicious with well balanced flavors between the fillings and pastry. Their ice cream is the most delicious soft serve I've ever had. The vanilla is smooth and flavorful, and the sorbet (blueberry when I had it but the flavor rotates) seems to be made with real fruit. The cone is also delicious, crispy and sweet adding brown sugar flavor to your ice cream. The only place where I get excited reaching the cone. If I ever got married my only request for the wedding would be to get this ice cream machine so I could eat it and get wasted and also just marry the ice cream.

Tarry Phillip

My wife wanted a slice of cake as part of our anniversary celebration. Butter Baker was a wonderful treat! We tried the raspberry pistachio cake and the mango coconut cake. Both were absolutely delicious - my wife loved the raspberry pistachio! We also tried the blueberry vanilla soft serve - again, delicious! They have a great selection of cookies as well.

Justine Ye

Not worth it. Very pricy and really bad service. I asked them to put my soft ice cream in a bowl, it came into a cone. Then the girl pour the ice cream up side down to a bowl. Common! The quality looking is also part of the price, ok? McDonald’s would simply make another one for their customer if they made a mistake.

Ashley K.

Ordered the Tiramisu cake and it was the best I've ever had (better than any I've even had in Italy!). Will definitely be ordering this for every occasion possible :) Thank you ❤

I love having Butter Baker so close to me now. I've been going here every new month for their ice cream of the month. Their ice cream is so good, and at a lower cost comparison to some other ice cream places nearby. Their pastries are perfect for any sort of treat, after a test, event, or special occasion. Love also how Butter Baker has a plant wall.

Zara Arif

I love how they play with different flavours. The Lychee Creme Danish usually around valentine's day is so good. by The salty crunchiness of the Pastry, the sweetness of the Lychee Crème paired with the sourness of raspberries! I’m not a huge Danish person but I really loved this one. I also love their soft serve. The place is minimalist and very ascetically pleasing to the eyes. It is a small space, not much room to sit.

Milen Antov

Looks better than it tastes. Was given an old hard croissant after paying 6.50 for it. At this price point, it’s reasonable to expect good quality, alas not at this place.

Hannah Raymond

The products here are high quality and beautiful. The cakes are a tad bit expensive for just a regular occasion but I'm sure they're well worth it if you're celebrating an important date. The only problem I have is that there is no seating, it's just two standing tables that can fit a total of 2-8 people (depending on group size) And the customer service is pretty bad, its a bit hit or miss. I've gotten a very friendly cashier before and I've also gotten a cashier who made it seem like i was wasting their time. I don't enjoy feeling like a burden while I'm paying to be there which is why I rate it a 3/5.

Jessica Snow

I’ve had their cookies, many monthly ice-creams, and tried a slice of their matcha cake. It’s all been great! Would definitely recommend.

Yunny Hou

matchamisu! cute adorable japanese bakery with all kinds of neat dessert cakes, danish, cookies, soft serve to pastries! Located right across from Eaton Centre. The moist soft matcha cake was layered with 3 layers of mascarpone vanilla cream and chocolate filling which made the dessert extra sweet, great to enjoy with a cup of coffee The bakery itself was just adorable and clean, definitely coming back to try out their popular danish and croissants too Matchamisu - $6.95 Blueberry Lemon Cake - $6.95

J Chen

Beautiful little dessert boutique situated near Dundas and bay, cozy little store front with a very welcoming atmosphere, excellent customer service, the boutique offers a good variety of cakes, pastries and cookies to choose from. (Option to order online for store pickup or local delivery) We tried the blueberry lemon dream cake, triple chocolate cookie (to die for), and the apricot vanilla sorbet in a vanilla waffle cone, so refreshing and satisfying. If you have a sweet tooth, you will enjoy everything this boutique has to offer.

Mary He

Not worth the wait and price. The Tahiti vanilla ice cream (yellow+white) looks tempting but not very tasty. The vanilla part is ok but the fruit part tastes like cheap fruit juice. And like others have mentioned, the cone broke apart after a few licks, wasted half of the ice cream.

Sheena Yap Chan

This place is the bomb. I have never had dessert so good as butter baker. Their matchamisu is out of this world and for me they have the best cookies I have ever tasted. I’ve tried 3 cookies which was the matcha cookie, the birthday cake cookie and the caramel cookie. All soft and chewy when you bite it but crunchy on the outside. The way they make it is perfection. You just have to try to see what I mean.

milkfeuille

originally went here to get some soft serve but they were sold out :( got a slice of the new r&p cake. didn’t think much about it until i got to actually eat it. would ABSOLUTELY recommend, it was sooo worth it. can’t wait to try out other desserts!!!

Aditya Dev

The dishes ranged from good to great! The lemon meringue croissant was excellent! Great variety among sweets and lattes. But for a bakery I barely saw any non sweet options at all, which was a bit off-putting.

Yanyu Lung

Just one piece of their Strawberry shortcake is NEVER enough.

Kama K

Pure magic! That’s the place that is worth forgetting about the calories.

Jocelyn Peng

Lots of hype surrounding the soft serve, but I went for the raspberry pistachio cake. For $7, it's pretty tiny. Tastewise, not a lot of raspberry or pistachio flavour, masked by a ton of sugary frosting. The cake itself was moist and nice looking. Some of the other options might be better, as they sell cookies, croissants, danishes, etc. Prices for gourmet pastries are so expensive! The workers were also really pushy - kept asking "Are you sure you don't want anything else?' even when I declined the first time. Will have to come back later for their less sweet options, but I expected more.

Julie K.

One my favourite ice cream places. I always look forward to the monthly fruit flavour. The danish are so good - crispy on the outside and soft inside.

Dona T

Had a delicious strawberry vanilla croissant ????

Joshua Atienza

Love their soft serve here and their store front always smells delicious! Great spot for pastries by the Eaton Centre!

Leah Moretti

Picked up my pumpkin pie yesterday, I preordered online already but still had to wait for another 15 minutes, it's worth it though because everyone in my family loved the pie! Still need to try the other cakes next time

Bowen Lin

Oh man what a treat!! Everyone just try the cones and cakes. The sorbet mixed in with soft ice cream is just a grade above most locations in the GTA.

Jonas Brandon

Seasonal swirl (natural vanilla soft serve and strawberry sorbet) in a crisp buttery cone was a delight.

Claude Khan

Ordered a dark chocolate cake for my wife's birthday and it was incredible. I was really happy with the ordering and pick up process; very smooth. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

Eileen Xue

We always see the lineups for their ice cream but we actually came here to get a cake for my sister’s birthday. It was a bit expensive compared to other cake places in the area but it was definitely very good! Super moist and looked picture perfect. We got the pink “Baker’s Birthday Cake” and it was colourful on top and on the inside. Can’t wait to try other items from this shop!

Amir F

Few days ago I just checked this place. I bought three different cakes but unfortunately one of my orders was wrong. I ordered Machamisu cake but something else was in the box! At all quality was fair. It wasn't really fresh. My favorite cake was blueberry lemon dream.

Sanjeev K

Quality croissants and cake! ???????? Had the pleasure of checking this place out, the quality of each pastry was on point. Everything was delicious - but croissants and cakes were my favourite! The owner Calvin and his staff were very kind and welcoming!

Leo Lewis

good bread, could improve and add more selection. higher than usual pricing. one notable thing is that this shop doesn't slice loaves of bread. bought loaf of bread surprised they dont have a slicer when i asked them ti cut/slice it.

Lisa Em

Small and cute bakery with simple design and no seating. Pastries looked delicious but we tried their cake. They have very beautiful and unique flavours of cake including a blueberry/lemon creme and earl grey tea cake. The cake was very good, a bit on the pricey side but serves as a nice treat. The coffee isn't worth the money unless you like very mild coffee; but the server was polite and we enjoyed our visit.

Daniel A

I find that folks often recommend the soft serve, which is good but certainly not worth the price. The other big recommendation, which I do recommend, are their cakes! They have a variety of flavours and you really can't go wrong - they're all some of the best I've had in Toronto. The secret seems to be the ratio between cake and cream - it's almost 50/50 but it makes for some delicious cake!

Anthony Pitoscia

Amazing amazing !!!!! OMG , this was one of the best cakes I have had in along time !!!! Choose 4 types and went home and enjoyed !!!! Well done thank you , Rasp , choc , pist was our fav !!!

Anna P.

Delicious baked goods and cookies!!! I ate all the cookies and forgot to take a picture but I highly recommend the chocochip.

Chantal K

What would I do without Butter Baker? A cute little shop with delicious cakes, softserve and cookies! Amongst other pastries too. Aesthetically pleasing & Tasty place to grab a slice of their amazing Birthday-cake with chiffon cake&layers of buttercream goodness! Its a taste unlike other cakes, so soft and bouncy, perfect sweetness not too overpowering. Their seasonal soft-serves always in a nice seasonal flavour. The past seasons I’ve been lucky to experience Cassis, Burned Carmel Apple, Black Cherry! The softserve flavours they curated are exceptionally delicious! And easy on the eyes too. Great friendly staff & service too. Make sure like any bakery go early or order ahead. Download their app too! So you can earn freebies.

Sue Jung

Passion Fruit Milk Chocolate from Butter Baker in Toronto. If you are looking for ‘that’ cake to make your day a better one, go with it! Not too sweet nor too dried.

Hadi J

Delicious cakes and a good collection of cookies.

long zhu

Their cake tastes good, but very different from picture. Very thin chocolate at the top and no leaves for decorating. Disappointed

em ily

generally decent sweets. however, only one item was exceptional: the wild blueberry soft serve. it was obviously made with a lot of real blueberries to turn out so flavourful and rich. however, in the next month, the cherry soft serve was nowhere close to as good. the vanilla soft serve alone, however, is very tasty and partners well with all kinds of things. i wanted to love the matcha cookie (as I have been on a hunt for the perfect matcha cookie) but i felt it to be overly sweet, overwhelming the matcha flavour.

Iz Zy

Very disappointed by this bakery's lack of response to inquiries. I have tried contacting them via various methods and they never responded back to me. Zero customer service!. I had wanted to support this local business but unfortunately, they didn't want my business.

Jo

Been here a couple of times for their croissants and soft serve. Love their lemon meringue croissant, it's a definite must order. The croissant is nice, soft and flaky. The lemon filling is just right, not too sweet. I've also tried their strawberry matcha pastry. Didn't really like this one that much. Tasted a bit stale, maybe because we went at night. It wasn't crispy and flaky as the lemon one. Flavour was alright. As for the soft serve, I tried their strawberry and vanilla one and also the black currant. Both very delicious. The fruit flavours are usually more like sorbet but the tahini is nice, smooth and creamy. Nice combination though.

Anand Sundararajan

Excellent pastries, best croissants I've had in North America by far.

Siwoo Kim

The ice cream taste good even if the price is quite high (around $7) But i don’t understand my the lemon meringue croissant is their signature. The meringue part is too much for a croissant and above all it smells like a raw egg which i cannot endure. So i ate left of it without the meringue icing.

Ryan Yake

the monthly fruit flavour for ice cream is a great idea, and I look forward to the new flavour always. it's probably the best ice cream you'll have downtown. plus their cookies and other goodies are unreal.

Sumer

Cozy little bake shop that serves fresh baked goods and sorbet. We tried their seasonal mango-vanilla sorbet in a cup and it was beyond delicious! Their freshly baked cookies are also very tasty! 10/10

Fares Assad Miznazi

This place is amazing!! I’ve tried almost all their deserts and they have ice cream it’s all amazing. Must try!!

Abu N

Ordered a cake from here during Covid times, and the process was great. They called me to confirm, added small details, and were very flexible with the pick up time. When I arrived, the cake was ready, and was carefully placed into the box and was packed very nicely. The cake itself was Delogona Coffee cake was good, but not very sweet. I would still recommend the cake if you love coffee. Great service, and they had a bunch of other baked goods that I did not get a chance to try, but they did look good.

faiza siddiqui

Ice cream is okay I like cakes more

Samad Kadri

Everything looked amazing at this store but I really went for the icecream. I got the passion fruit sorbet mixed with the Tahiti vanilla soft serve. It definitely looks amazing but doesn’t taste as good. I found that it melted super quick, so it was more icy than creamy. It’s good but not worth the $7.

Mario Furgiuele

Ordered the Blueberry Lemon for my wife's birthday and it didn't disappoint. Light cake with delicious blueberry cream (hint of lemon) top with a white chocolate sauce. Highly recommend and will definitely order again!

EJ Robert (E)

Great treats and cakes, there ice cream is amazing! You may have to.wait in a small line, but they have friendly and quick service.

Lauretta W.

They have my favourite croissants ever! Never get tired of coming in and buying.

Kelly Robson

Just my first visit, but I'm impressed with the quality of baking at Butter Baker. Not the best croissant in town (that's Tasso) but Butter Baker has the potential to earn the title. Considering their evident attention to detail, I believe they can get there!

Charlie

Another over rated "do it for the gram" coffee place in Toronto. With awful tasting coffee and day old pastries. The cakes are decent but do yourself a favor go to little pebbles or fika instead

Kelli Mutz

I was told to come here because their seasonal sorbet was amazing. This months flavor was cantaloupe and I highly doubted I would find that delicious but it was! I ended up getting a vanilla/chocolate combo that was good but actually wished I had gone with the cantaloupe!

Tiffany Lew

Small little bakery with a large selection of baked goods. This month their ice cream flavour was vanilla x black cherry (perfect combo of sweet and sour). Also tried their matcha and birthday cake, both were good - not too sweet.

Yuubae Ch.

The place is rather small with only standing tables. I had the apple Danish and the berry Danish. Both were exceptional in flavour. The pastry especially was good.

Katie Te

Used to go here a lot last year and decided to come back. Pastries and soft serve are still top notch, but customer service has gotten way worse. Staff wasn’t very welcoming and made me feel like i was wasting their time.

venkat iyer

The soft serve looks great, tastes good but it is a race against time to finish it, as it starts dripping within minutes. Also the cone has a hole in the bottom, so good luck with that.

Lawrence Choi

Excellent pastries + drinks and even greater service! The girl with the braid on Saturday early afternoon was really kind to my partner and I when she explained about the delay in the 1pm pickup order we had. Great communication and amazing matchamisu cake ^^

chloe kim

Cute little bakery with friendly staff Sadly, my lemon croissant was not good.. expected more buttery croissant :) but I would come back to try others

Tan

An amazing little bakery and much better than those OTHER cake companies (Dufflet? Whatever). Cakes taste great, come in a lot of varieties, and no issues with delivery.

Matthew Yantha

This is a beautiful bakery with amazing pastries and treats. The staff were kind and friendly and the atmosphere was very nice though a little tight. The pastries all tasted delicious but not as fresh as we would have liked, especially …

Edit: I feel this is a much needed PSA.. CALL THEM OF YOU'VE ARRIVED FOR YOUR ONLINE ORDER. I waited in this long line on a Saturday at 6pm only to arrive at the front to be told I would have called. You give them your order number and then they'll meet you at the front... I've only visited them during covid times, and used their online purchasing to pick up, which, I have to say is very easy to use and led to a very smooth pick up process... The products themselves were aces! Ice cream is always great - I tried the mango and pineapple and it was amazingly yums. Pastry is also very well made! I was for reals having a craving for croissants early on when we locked down, and their croissants def satisfied my pastry fire... ???? Oh and service was always quick and prompt, nothing to complain in that dept!

Jan Horak

Nice shop. High quality products albeit a little expensive . Smallish selection. Really friendly staff.

BURAK ANMAC

Maple butter tart is delicious (5/5), cookies taste bland and generic (3/5).

Clemens Snoeijer

The birthday cake is absolutely the best thing I’ve ever had in my entire life!!!! 10/10 FULLY RECOMMEND DO NOT HESITATE!! Must try!!!!!

Caio Uechi

Its the best passion fruit sorbet in the market.

M Mui

This place is very quaint and cute but there are no tables to accompany the few benches they have. Makes eating kind of awkward. For $10.50, we got 2 croissants, the Walnut apricot and the messy bun which was a chocolate croissant filled with a dark chocolate mousse. The Walnut apricot was too sweet for my liking. The dark chocolate mousse was really nice but the pastry part of the croissants were only ok. I found them to be a little on the dry crumbly side. And expensive for what I got. I don't think I'd come back for their croissants but I'm interested to try their pure fruit sorbets.

Noel Sunil

Best cake I`ve ever had. ????????

Thao Anh Le

A combination of french pastry and Asian touch! I tried 6 flavours of their cake selection and non of them disappointed me. Right amount of sweetness and unique flavours. Only bad thing is the store is far from my house :(

Instagram worthy sorbet! Also tried all their baked goods (yes, all of them, including the cakes, all flavors). Their strawberry cake is so good!! The moment you walk into the store, you will smell the DELICIOUS butter baked goods. Hence their name, butter baker (I assume). So definitely give their baked goods a try! All their products are not overly sweet, always freshly made, which is definitely a win for me. A perfect gift for friends, family, and coworkers!

Julian Lam

Oh my GOD what a good croissant.

Rachel McHolm

Due to COVID-19 I was not able to see family for my birthday. So for a surprise my parents ordered me three different slices of cake (R & P (raspberry & pistachio, Blueberry Lemon Dream & Dalgona Coffee Cake) and 6 donuts to try for my birthday from Butter Baker and had them delivered to my apartment. All items were fresh and delicious! The R & P cake slice was my favourite.

Bradley Biron

Great place to grab a coffee and snack. It doesn’t feel like you are walking into a bakery. The atmosphere is cold, metaphorically speaking. The seating sucks, I’d prefer to sit at a table not square benches.

Claus Kao

Just had a ice cream is really yummy!

KIMCHIQUEEN

listen my friends, when i tell you this is my go-to bakery for cakes.. i'm serious. i order from butter baker at least 3-6x year for family, friends, or just because i'm craving it. there are a selection of cake flavors to choose from but …

Christina Deveau

Finally stopped by to try the danishes after seeing that they had some of the best in the city, and was not disappointed. I tried the matcha strawberry, and my friend had the blueberry vanilla. While mine could’ve had more matcha custard (simply because I love matcha anything), it was delicious. The pastry was incredibly light and flaky. I will 100% return to try more here, as everything in their case looked incredible.

Anna S

Soft serve is soo good and get the tiramisu ice cream if you love the taste! Love how flavour changes from time to time too.

peter li

I called in to request a whole cake for delivery. Due to a miscommunication it arrived pre sliced. We were offered a gift card for the order, so I placed another order for the same whole cake again (which arrived whole with no issues) When I followed up on this the next day, a different person told me that they wouldn’t be giving us a gift card due to store policies. I was a bit surprised by this because they voluntarily offered me a gift card the previous day. When I tried to clarify the situation after, they blamed me for misunderstanding the original policy then ghosted me.

Mary Sruthi Vijayakumar

I had high hopes given how gorgeous their soft serves looked on Instagram along with rave (fake) reviews. Honestly tasted like chocolate ice crushed and it was absolutely not worth the price. Please do better! Atleast add some flavour and ingredients.

Zahra Rajaei

Delicious pastries and nice staff.

Basilhea Woodley

Their birthday cake is my favourite cake ever!!

Sneha Nemichand

We have visited these cute little delicacy a few times now. Got different flavors of cake slices to celebrate a birthday and we were impressed by almost all of them. The birthday cake was our favorite, followed by strawberry shortcake. We didn't love the tiramisu, pistachio raspberry and early grey just as much - they are good but the other flavors stole the show for us. Also tried their vanilla mango sorbet soft serve on the cone and totally loved it! The cone is unique, very rich in butter so beware of when you eat it (I had it on a hot summer day after having a good size lunch and my tummy was not ready to handle that load of butter). Next time I'm probably going to get a cup even though it goes against all my beliefs about how one must enjoy ice cream (on a cone!). On a separate note: as I try to be a more environmentally friendly/concious consumer, my heart sinks a little each time I see the little square on every item... because that simply goes to a landfill. It's definitely adds a sense of love to your day but if there was an option, I would request to get my eats without the square.

Wendy Li

WHAT TO TRY?! The baked goods in this bakery. I think they specialize in the croissants since there's different ways they make this pastry. They call it the roulée and comes in different flavors of drizzles. I chose the chocolate because I saw it on display outside being freshly made. The people helping me were nice and the roulée tasted great. It wasn't dry and the it was moist. It had just enough crunch and chewiness to the pastry. I didn't try anything else because I came on nuit blanche night and they only served this pastry or teas. Guess they anticipated to be really busy to make anything else. LAST TIP!? Come try out the pastries that are fresh out of the oven if you have a chance. The freshness and crispness to the pastries will satisfy you!

Luna Rocco

Delicious Cack they have, just unforgettable taste.

Natalie Khuu

There was a blond hair in my cake and it was really disgusting. For the price they are charging ($20 - two slices of cake and a croissant) my expectations are that there wouldn’t be contaminants in my cake.

Annabelle

The soft serve is so delicious!!!! I got the passion fruit and vanilla twist. Both were awesome but next time I’ll just try the vanilla since I’m not really into sorbet. Either way, one of the best soft serves I’ve ever had. The vanilla is so awesome and you can actually see the dark specs of vanilla!! Highly recommend.

Tracy Chen

matchamisu- THE BEST CAKE EVER passion fruit cake - too sweet for me pistachio cake - the pistachio was very artificial tasting and just didn’t taste good

Veronica Tran

Second year I've received their matcha cake for my birthday. Always impressed with it. Wish they had strawberry shortcake all year round. Dying to try it.

Owen Gorman

Had the Pink vanilla birthday cake. Really good. At first I was worried because I had forgotten to get vanilla ice cream on the way home, but the vanilla icing was so rich and flavorful that I didn't need it. I recommend this place to others now.

Kar Law

Croissants (puff pastry) are definitely crispy. However, the prices are too steep. Pastries are beautiful. Star deducted because of price.

Maria D

A small, warmly-lit, prettily-designed bakery with mouthwatering desserts. I tried the Fig Danish, Apple Danish, Lemon Brioche, and Smoked Salmon Croissant. They were all delicious, the Apple Danish and Lemon Brioche in particular. The Brioche smelled like it was going to be very heavy and too rich in flavour, but it was actually a burst of lightness with the acidity from the lemon.

Pranipa Ernest

Butter baker is not primarily an ice cream shop but, in my opinion, sells the BEST ice cream in the Toronto area. The sorbet flavor changes every month, depending on what’s seasonal; once swirled with the vanilla ice cream, it tastes AMAZING. The cone is the best part, it’s so buttery. Their tiramisu ice cream is also REALLY good. In terms of their pastries, their funfetti cake is really good but I’ve had better elsewhere. Their butterscotch cookie is AMAZING as well, it’s so buttery, sweet, and chewy. Overall, highly highly recommend this place!!

Christy Cheung

The soft serve flavours rotate monthly, I had the salted caramel which was delicious! I'm generally not a big fan of soft serve, but the texture at Butter Baker is not overly melt-y. They have a good selection of cakes and other pastries as well, but the highlight for me was the soft serve.

E Wng

Ordered some goodies from them for my boyfriends birthday. He loves the cakes especially the Strawberry Shortcake as well as the beignets! The delivery and handover was smooth. Great products, great service!!!!

LEXY LIN

Bought two items here and they were all very good. The cake was particularly amazing!

Malachy O' Doherty

Ordered the strawberry shortcake for a birthday and all I can say is WOW! Honestly one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. It was incredibly fresh and the taste and texture was fantastic. Will 100% be going back and would strongly recommend to anyone thinking of buying a cake!

S Patel (patelsr)

On a pleasant summer day, we preferred walking after a meal and skipping dessert at the restaurant we were at so that we can go for a small dessert. The kids went inside for their choice and knew what I could have. They picked for themselves a Tiramisu, a Mango Cheesecake, a Strawberry Cheesecake and a Cherry Sorbet in a cup for me. I normally hate anything to do with Cherry Flavour - candies, coke, medicine etc. Was truly disappointed at first as this was the only vegan thing at a store called Butter Baker. I truly expected zero things for me. I had one spoon of the sorbet and it was as if somebody had puréed fresh sweet cherries and given to me. Frozen and exactly the amount of sugar sweetness in fresh cherries. It felt as if there was nothing added or removed from fresh cherries. The family loved each and every dessert they bought, that’s all I can say. Each and every one of them.

Claire Hoon

Got the matchamisu and earl grey cake. I only tried the matchamisu so I can't speak for the earl grey, but I was pretty disappointed by the lack of flavour. I'm a huge fan of matcha and good matcha has a deep, full-bodied flavour. The only part where I could taste it was in the dollaps of matcha cream on top. The sponge itself was very, very sweet and lacked any sort of distinctive taste. It looked very pretty but at $6.99 a slice, I honestly expected more. Tsujiri across the street does matcha desserts a lot better IMO. I know this isn't a pure matcha cake, but there was barely any taste of tiramisu too... Update: I had the earl grey and it was actually very good! The fruitiness of the raspberries was refreshing and balanced well with the slight bitterness of the earl grey. The taste of the earl grey came through well, unlike the matcha. Raising my review to a 4 because of this.

Steven Lewis

Amazing bread, ice cream and other treats. It's also my go to when I need a quick gift or cake for an event

Alicia Marulanda

Ordered a tiramisu and a couple of slices of birthday cake, both of which were delicious and indulgent without being overwhelming. The freshness of the ingredients and attention to detail really shines through! There were no problems with the contactless delivery. Looking forward to trying more of their confections!

Reema AlRasheed

Beautiful food and bakery. Horrible matcha latte, sweet like a cup of sugar, spilling everywhere due to poor packaging. Not happy at all for a 7$ drink

Irene Christine Wennylie

Very fast services and they have a unique ice cream that’s changed monthly. Had the guava, passion fruit and creme brulee version!

Y Lee

The best cakes and croissants in town! Have to try their blueberry lemon cake or their matchmisu (matcha cake with chocolate creme filling) both cakes are light and moist. If you are lucky to get one of their quiches, it is baked with their croissant dough. Their danishes and quiches go quickly. If you are extra lucky, have to try their banh mi croissant sandwiches too.

Carol

I have been here way more times than I should - for both my wallet and my pants. I have had about half the menu already and everything's sooo good! I have to say my favourites so far are the fruit danishes (Fig and Kiwi), the Banh Mi and now the smoked salmon. The pork belly, the lemon meringue and the strawberry vanilla custard are all really good as well. I'm not really sure you can ever go wrong. Their cakes are amazing as well. It's a good thing I don't live closer!

Andrew N

Nice cakes...fluffy, light, look good and taste amazing. Will buy again.

Maryam Jamshidzadeh

Beautiful and Super moist cakes, enjoyed it so much. Will definitely try other flavours.

Alexandra R

Great service, but the matcha chocolate bar is actually white chocolate with minimal matcha flavour, wouldn’t hurt them to be more generous with the matcha

Polly Nguyen

Taste: 100/10 but a bit overpriced. Customer service is fast. Worth trying out the new flavor at least once.

Nadine

I have never tasted a bakery so fresh! We ordered the raspberry pistachio cake and it was truly to die for. Great delivery and customer service, all around an amazing experience. Will definitely be ordering again!

Tammy S

Yummy cookies! Love the matcha and double chocolate. A tad pricey though.

Rayhane Naeini

Nice,clean,modern space.Great location. Good service.Friendly staff.huge variety of pastry.

Brent Mulrooney

Much better than expected. The guava vanilla ice cream was fresh and tasty, and the Tiramisu ice cream was a unique take on a classic dessert. Worth a try.

Draco Chapman

The blueberry cake is amazing, I devoured it before I could even take a picture.

Brenda Duong

I have previously had very good experiences at Butter Baker but recently ordered the pink 10" birthday cake for a friends birthday. It did not look like the picture at all and looked very cheap. Very disappointed as we paid $100 for it and was excited to have it as a center piece. The ice cream and other cake slices I've tried were all amazing - whatever you do, do not buy this cake if you care about presentation! However, I will say that it was still yummy despite how it looked.

Marie Bernard

unique cakes and pastries, friendly service! Thank you

G4hm4d A

I ordered the Pink Velvet cake for my wife's birthday and I have to say that it was amazing and one of the best cakes that I've ever had. Everyone absolutely loved it! The cake tasted so fresh, light, creamy and delicious. It also looked beautiful and elegant. The delivery was on time and everything was perfect. Thanks for making her day even more special.

Alexa W

they have amazing cakes and baked goods here. best in the area! a dessert from here with a drink next door at chatime is a nice way to treat yourself.

Michelle Newdon

LOVE the croissants and the cakes here, they are so flakey and well-crafted. However, I find that service here is not that great. The people behind the counter always seem bored and like they don't want to serve you. Whenever I try to engage in conversation with them, they are very aloof and unfriendly. Will continue to be back because I can't stay away from the pastries but wish the service was better :/

France C

Great location and yummy treats/drinks. The cakes are always a crowd-pleaser at parties. I wish we were able to order seasonal cakes outside of their designated season....

Joy Xiao

What was shown in photos online was NOT what we received.. The icing on the sides of the cake we got was 1cm thick unlike the rustic look of the cake on the website. The cake was overly sweet (probably from the whip cream/icing that was NOT supposed to be on the outer side of the cake). The strawberries looked disappointing compared to the pictures and even the strawberry whip cream didn't look the same (much smaller than the pictures which didn't look as good). For a $50 cake this was NOT what I expected. If we're spending this much money on for a special occasion it is only right that the cake matches the photos. I could have made a better cake by myself.

Vi Le

Tried the blueberry lemon cake, It was too sweet for my taste, but it was moist though. Probably would have tasted better with less filling !

Emma Cao

Love their sorbet soft serves! They’re absolutely delicious, and I really like how they have a different flavour each month. The cone is buttery and has a nice crunch as well. A little pricey but worth it!

Yen Ho

I tried the birthday Cake and blueberry lemon meringue they were good (: but the icecream was too sour even with the vanilla to sweeten it. Also didnt like the after taste of the lemon. Coffee was just average

Toronto Eats

The Salted Caramel & Vanilla soft serve is delicious! The caramel ice cream isn't too sweet, pairs perfectly with vanilla. I think the cone is pretty big too, it will definitely satisfy your ice cream cravings.

L H

I just had the Tahitian vanilla mixed with blueberry and it was DELISH. Melts quick so get extra napkins but 100% worth it- you can taste how FRESH the ingredients are. Also has a lighter texture which I liked and didn’t hurt my stomach like regular ice cream does (I’m lactose intolerant lol)

Janna Nguyen

So good! You must try The icecream is strawberry and vanilla sorbet. The waffle is not your average icecream waffle.

I’ve placed an order with them and now that they’ve taken my money, I conveniently cannot get through to this business. I’ve tried calling about 8 times so far, each time with the call not getting through. What kind of a business does this to their customers, and especially doesn’t even have a voicemail system?

Toyin Olivia Jibowu

Freshly baked desserts. There matcha cookies are awesome but too small

Ayumi Inukai

I am extremely picky with my cake and this place exceeds my expectations. They carry the regular, permanent collection (incl Matcha Misu) and seasonal ones. The presentation is great, and I love that they put just the right amount of sugar. The flavours are so delicate. Oh, and their cookies are great too if you are into soft cookies.

Don't understand the hype, I was so excited to try this place out, after seeing it all over social media. My friend and I decided to try it out, their flavor was frozen yogurt and blueberry sorbet. The frozen yogurt just tasted like plain yogurt with sugar added nothing special. It melted in seconds all over our hands and the cone was too thin and snapped in half, both of us ended up having to toss the whole thing. Super disappointed, don't think I'd go back.

Ordered the Blueberry Lemon cake online and picked up at the store. So so so good!! It became my favorite cake place! Not too sweet, well-balanced, yet it looks beautiful! Great job guys!

Pam L.

Stumbled upon this bakery while in town for a meeting. Had the lemon meringue croissant, which was flaky and had a tangy lemon filling. The meringue was a little more marshmallow-like, which probably helps it stick to the pastry. Also tried the matchamisu cake, which was delicious! Fluffy cake with mild matcha flavour and light chocolate and mascarpone filling. Not too sweet. $50 for the whole cake which is on par with other small shoppes.

Kathy Tong

Had the blueberry lemon dream cake, really tasty but tad bit too sweet.

sana inamdar

Lovvveeee the baked goods I can’t wait for the monthly flavours every month!!!! Awesome service if only I can eat them daily!!!! Must try danish!

Keisha Winifrid

Had good experience. Pastry was delicious. Will go again.

Michael Jor

Butter baker is the better baker! This quaint bakery is very delicious!! All fresh made in shop, and that sweet baked goods scent invites you in from the outside. They have a fairly large selection of baked goods, ice cream/sorbets, and coffees. Really makes you want to revisit again and again! Notes: popular items change up every now and then, ice cream flavours as well! The place is small, alleyway small, so get in, get out.

Marion Studhalter

Friendly service and of course delicious food! Had the green tea cake, which tasted like they used real whip cream, so good!

anon ymous

Bought a few different flavours for a friends birthday and they loved I’m also now addicted to the triple chocolate cookies ????

Dom C.

I ordered a strawberry shortcake for my friend's birthday. I could not visit her due to COVID so I had the cake delivered. My friend loved the cake. Here is what she said: "This cake is magnificent and delicious on every level". She sent me a video of the cake and I was impressed ... it actually looked even more beautiful than what's shown online. Thanks to Butter Baker for making this birthday extra special.

nili Aa

Delicious and fresh, a wonderful treat to always feel better

lanisha t

Freshly baked cookies were so good!

M Sorkhabi

It would be a 5 if I had tried it in the winter????you have 13 short seconds to down this yummy blubbery jam yogurt swirl before it turns into a soup. It’s tasty, very soft and moist. My cone crumbled from being too wet. I recommend the bowl and ummm bring your wipes. The staff is friendly and fast. Looking forward to next month’s flavour. ????

Veronica L

UPDATE: We were disappointed by the quality of our most recent orders. The strawberry shortcake was lopsided out of the box and the strawberries were not fresh. Mangoes from the mango coconut cake also did not seem fresh. Delicious cakes and croissants. Loved the Matchamisu cake and also enjoyed the seasonal Earl Grey tea cake. We found the blueberry lemon cake to be too sweet.

Yu Kwei Chan

Lovely place for dessert--pastries and sorbet/soft serve. They have monthly fruit sorbet flavours that are not too sweet but flavourful nonetheless! Baked goods also look delicious! However, not the place for you if you're looking for a place to sit down and chat for a long time!

Cici li

Bomb ice cream and cookies. Looking forward to next month's special flavor!

Megan Lo

Cute little place with lots of different options for ice cream that changes every month. I got an affogato (vanilla ice cream drenches in a shot of espresso. Extremely creamy and lots of flavour. I want to come back to try their unique ice cream flavours next time!

Ghagha Dunn

Love the cake.. definitely will come back????

arts tarss

My go to for cookies! All of the cookies are fresh and tasty. Cakes are also good, I got the pistachio cake and it was great. Would recommend for cookies

AAY L

Mouth watering to look at. Intoxicating to smell. Flavourful to taste! So far I’ve tried their Blueberry Lava sundae & their strawberry danish. I can’t wait to try their other pastries!

kaish ann

Their milk chocolate passion fruit cake is AMAZING ????

Teele R

Five stars soft serve, best I’ve had in the city! So fresh and pure, perfect balance of sorbet and creamy ice cream. Not too sweet, extremely flavorful. I had the blueberry& Tahitian vanilla swirl which was to die for.

Callie White

Ohmygoodness. Yum. First, Butter Baker was the only place I could find that had cake delivery in my area and a decent selection of cakes. Second, the cake was phenomenal. I'm not usually the biggest fan of cake. But this one was so light and fluffy with the perfect ratio of layers and filling and icing that was all made with real ingredients. It wasn't too rich or too sweet and it didn't feel plasticky like readily available cakes. To top it all off, the cake was beautiful. Thanks for making the occasion special!

Diane Chiarelli

Heaven has been found. Desserts light as air! A little bit of France can be found here. Bright, cheerful and a welcome place.

Tiffany Lam

Their ice cream combos are as creative as they are tasty. I had their blueberry cheesecake, strawberry vanilla, and cassis vanilla and all of them impressed me. They also make delicious flaky pastries and you can tell that they were made with lots of love and care because all of them are immaculately put together. I really like their lemon meringue croissant and their pork belly and cheddar croissant. They are known for their matchamisu and their cookie butter cake but both of them underwhelmed me. Stick to the buttery pastries and ice cream and you won’t be disappointed.

Reney

Love their soft serve! Fruity and sweet. Perfect combination of blueberry and vanilla

Irfan Merza

Different tasty ice cream. Ice cream served with chips and cake. A delight to mouth

Niname Nine

Cakes are definitely alright but most definitely not worth the hefty price . Prices are too high for deserts of this kind . And no seating area makes you wonder why you’re paying so much

Geoff Forguson

Awesome French patisserie. Gruyere croissants to die for. Definitely going back.

Back Bitting

Convient location right off the eaton center at dundas and bay. The shop is very small and suitable for take out only. There is no seating. The cakes are very good qaulity, light, fluffy and fresh. I recommend the strawberry short cake. Its light, creamy, and fresh, not overly sweet. No insulin spike from this. The brithday cake slice is more sweeter and sugary. It has less of a creamy texture. Very fun colours with sprinkles. The sponge cake is very good. This slice bounced my insulin a bit. I would recommend you go here and try it. I would suggest buying a whole cake as the single slices can be $$$. About 7$ for 1 slice. This isnt bad pricing per say, per slice, however the slices are on the smaller side ( like a small piece of bree cheese) its not as big of a size like at future bistro or symposium cafe. Ordering a whole cake is definitely the best dollar value. I will be ordering full cakes from here but not slices. Try it!

Guadalupe Lizana Estivill

I went in for an ice cream and I got tempted with some of the pastries. The ice cream (fruit & vanilla cone) was really good and tasty, and looked beautiful at the beginning, but I recommend you order the ice cream in a cup NOT in a cone, because the cone got waaay too wet and with the heat/humidity, it ended up breaking apart, and I could barely keep having the ice cream. Too bad because it was actually really good!

Vicki Chan

Came here after dinner with friends. Ordered the lemon meringue croissant, pear tart and fig danish. Loved the pear tart, flaky and crispy. The fig danish was also very good! I liked the lemon croissant but i probably wouldn’t order it again. It was just ok. Definitely will go back to try their other pastries.

Matthew Giovannetti

My overwhelming impression of Butter Baker is that of a business that puts style over substance. It seems to be working for them so I guess they've done something right. The croissant looks nice but tastes a bit dry and nowhere near as rich as others I've tried. The passionfruit x vanilla soft serve was tasty but nothing exceptional and the passionfruit overwhelmed the vanilla almost entirely. Decent but I would never line up for it.

Cortana Gw

Got their Dalgona and Tiramisu cake which were both pretty good. The Tiramisu cake was super creamy and tasty. Dalgona cake was pretty nice too. Prices are decent as well.

Thuy Truong

Don't get this place confused with Butter Avenue! For the cakes that we've ordered so far (Matchamisu, Lemon Blueberry, and Pistachio), the quality and flavours are pretty unmatched. My Asian family enjoys not too sweet desserts and this place makes them perfectly. It is on the pricey-er side but it's well worth it. Our fave and must try is the Matchamisu cake! Lots of options but the space to order is quite tight so be aware of that.

Katharina Fessl

The staff is very friendly and the selection is big. The products are a little bit on the pricey side. Blueberry cake cost around 7-8 $, but tastes very good.

TARUN ARORA

They have got really good mango sorbet and Pastry cakes. It's expensive at $49 for a 1 pound cake and $7 a piece but taste is amazing or shall i say addictive.

Andrew Jen

Ordered a matchamizu cake this week and easily the best cake I have had this year. You get the matcha flavour without it being too overbearing and the cake is moist and fluffy. Ordering and pickup process were a breeze. Will definitely be coming back in the future.

Alina Ma

Came by on a weekday late evening and was pretty surprised (and content) that there were still lemon meringue croissants and matcha cake slices left. Nonetheless, I picked up one of each. Note that the store itself doesn't have seating and is pretty narrow, so it's a grab-and-go type of store. The prices are on the higher end of pastries, but given that the same people as Butter Avenue are behind them, it's not that surprising. The croissant was flaky and flavour was definitely different from the average croissant, but I wouldn't say it justified the price point. The meringue was fluffy and the lemon paste inside was a nice difference in taste, but not exceedingly special. Cake was moist and nicely layered, but again, but that special, and likely wouldn't come back for either the cake or the croissant. I'd recommend it to give it a try, but it's not likely somewhere I'd return often.

Mr Licorne

This place is a hidden gem in the middle of industrial area. There swirl ice cream is to die for, the blueberry flavour is so so good

Ragini Desai

We are tuff critiques when it comes to desserts! We had the tiramisu soft serve - it comes with cake, vanilla soft serve, perfect crumble and brownie pieces - it was exceptional. Also had the strawberry danish with custard - perfection again. My son had a cookie and he said it was the best. We haven’t had the takeaway matcha cake yet but it will be delicious. Highly recommend this place ...

Stéphane Liégey

Tried the coconut cake, it was decent, but nothing particularly amazing or special for the high price they charge

Sally

My go to spot for macarons in Toronto. I used to frequent their other location, Butter Avenue on Queen St. but they’ve since closed that store ???? I’m glad I can still pick up macarons from here.

Dennis Hsu

Bought four brulees in two flavours from this bakery, strawberry and matcha. They tasted the same, heavily sugary coated with a lot of butter. It is almost like they bakers are trying to hide something about their mistake...probably the texture of the brulees! 4.35 plus tax is cheap for a good dessert, but not anything that I tried. Overpriced.

Ryan

Friendly staff and good selection of baked goods. I recommend trying the Lemon Blueberry cake - super tasty! I can’t wait to go back and try their ice cream.

Lucy

I love their matchamisu. Their icecreams and pastries are amazing too. My favorite dessert place.

My girlfriend and I had been eagerly anticipating our visit to Butter Baker last week but were terribly disappointed. The passionfruit/vanilla softserve was one of the worst things we've ever tasted - the passionfruit sorbet was incredibly sour, bitter, and completely overwhelmed the vanilla softserve (which was actually good!) and melted quickly. The waffle cone was delicious, sweet, and buttery but completely ruined by the taste of the passionfruit as well. The matchamisu cake tasted quite good, but the lemon-blueberry and pistachio-raspberry did not (I am not a fan of home-baked cakes but they taste better). We spent $65+ in total, and while everything was very aesthetic and insta-worthy, it just wasn't worth the cost and not very tasty. Goes to show how fake Toronto food bloggers are. edit: I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by the response - I looked back and most of the criticism you've received in the past has been met with the same type of personal attacks and arrogance. Yes, at the end of the day my opinion is my opinion, but what's fact is that thousands of people in Toronto have waited in 3+ hour lines for uncle tetsu cheesecakes and have posted the same rave reviews about sweet jesus. But yeah, I guess making an observation based on that fact says a lot about my character and automatically invalidates my opinion about your products. Best of luck.

asha dhali

As a French person out of her country, I can say that the products worth the trip. From the moment you enter the shop, you are welcomed with delightful and delicious pastry smells (like when you were a kid entering a candy shop), the design and beauty of the products so far that you want to buy them all. I just regret they don't have a sitting room to enjoy their pastries with a hot beverage

Angel Chan

The matcha white chocolate cookie was amazing! Staff were very friendly as well. Will definitely come back again

M K

A beautifully designed cafe / bakery downtown TO. The location is perfect as it's across from the Eaton centre. Over the years I've had their croissants, danishes, cakes and ice cream flavors. They change their ice cream swirl flavor monthly for warmer months. The pastries are delish. The dalgona coffee cake is amazing. Their espresso is also good, I get their iced americano.

Jennifer Chu

I wish the customer service experience was more engaging than just cash out and minding their own business afterwards... The display of baked goods and atmosphere of buttery scent was welcoming and would come back for them again !

Dami Kim

Ordered Matchamisu cake for my brother's birthday celebration. One of my favorite cakes so far! Excited to try out other flavors from this store. Thank you!

Vithuza Balasingam

This bakery is a little bit on the pricier side but they are so worth it. I love the birthday and matchamisu cake. Have reordered for multiple birthdays and will continue to do so. Highly recommend for desert lovers like myself!

Ho Seok Lee

Some of the best pastries and ice cream in Toronto! Definitely worth the price.

Sajini De Soysa

The cakes here are excellent. So moist and the frostings are superb. Delivered even before the promised time. Will never disappoint anyone buying from here.

Stephen Cornish

Very good pastries and cookies. Haven't tried everything they have to offer, but what I had was excellent.

Lilly Deng

It is SOOOO sweet oh my god ???? we ate the cake and threw away the frosting. Hated wasting food but it was too much. If you like very sweet desserts, this is for you!

B. Gallego

We just tried their R&P (Raspberry & Pistachio) cake and it is phenomenal! You can taste the quality of ingredients and skill in the way they make their pastries and cakes. Delicious! Can’t wait to go back to try more flavours. Experience of takeout during COVID: - Easy to order and pay online - Options to pick up in downtown Toronto or Markham - Ready for pick up (express window for cakes in To location) - Clean, felt safe, masks worn and sanitizer available

Tong Luo

The passionfruit sorbet ruined my day!!! :( It made me painful.

Zarina M

ordered from uber eats late in the evening and was shocked at the freshness of the pastries although limited selection, which is to be expected. both pastries i ordered exceeded my expectations - gruyere croissant was flavorful and filled with cheese inside while the pear tart was very light and flaky. price is definitely justified for the quality you receive

M L

The Baker’s birthday cake looks cute, the sprinkles are fun and the frosting wasn’t overly sugary which was nice. The best thing about their cakes is how they look, which is better than how they taste. Unfortunately it was bland and comprised of too much whipping cream. It should’ve been better balanced with more cake. It felt like I was just eating mouthfuls of plain whipping cream. At this price, there are many better cake options in the city. Or save some dollars and you can still get a better tasting cake from Loblaws (try the Maple Leaf Gardens location).

Soyoung Hong

Love their ice cream! You get to try different flavours every month which is amazing. Their pastry selections are so delicious too! Cakes are good but overall kind of expensive.
