I have been very eager to visit Tradition de France for a while and finally got the chance to do so a few weeks ago. Definitely a special place in the heart of Oakville. The city has many cute little spots but Tradition de France definitely …

Traditional French pastry. Excellent.

It’s the best cafe in oakville, very elegant place with strong Paris vibe. Food is delicious especially the traditional croissant. Cakes looks so yummy waiting you to try them. It could also be a nice place to meet good friends, have a coffee and a talk

Best bakery in the GTA beyond a doubt. Croissants that melt in your mouth. Pastries exploding with flavour. Pricey but worth it when you really want to treat yourself.

Just a little pice of haven ... opened few month ago in the middle of the pandemic! I go there every week, I drive by everyday on my way home and given the circumstances is always a wait time at the door... and even is December there are still people enjoying there’s coffee and croissant outdoors. I have tried everything ... and I mean everything and it is really out of this world. All fresh and baked daily. I have invited all of my Parisian and French originated friends from the GTA and every one said wow o la la la ... all you have to do is to be patient this is not our beautiful corner plaza Starbucks ( which I adore as well ) is an amazing family run business. Like all of us they are trying to work hard, do their very best and keep all of us safe. The bread, the baguette , the croissants and so much more are heavenly with every bite. Life is really beautiful here one croissant at the time. Nothing is perfect in the world, if you didn’t like it you don’t have to go back but please think twice before you review a place ! Yes they are very French but alway polite and truly wonderful! If products would be as described by some of you here, this little pice of heaven would not be as busy as it gets everyday ! Be kind ! Be mindful! J’adore la tradition de France in Oakville!

The worst coffee I had in my life. I was with my wife and she also said that cappuccino was just like hot water with milk. We wasted 10 backs for such a bad coffee.

It is a blissful patisserie in town to find impressive French pastries that please your eyes and mouth. I tried several goods, and they were all delicious with a perfect level of sweetness. Their chocolate tart is a must-try! I am not a big chocolate lover but fell in love with it.

Cute French cafe in the heart of downtown Oakville.

Stephen and Jenn Fowler

We are so fortunate to have this wonderful French bakery and cafe join the West Harbour area. Where to start? The interior is beautifully appointed, the staff are friendly, welcoming, and add to the authentically French atmosphere, and of course, the pastries and breads are exquisite. It is an overused cliche, but nonetheless, visiting Tradition de France really does make me feel that I have been transported back to Paris, which is a wonderful way to start the workday. Tea or coffee with a pastry, either inside or on one of the attractive bistro sets out front, is a great stop before work. Fortunately, they open at 7 am, allowing for most people's schedule. C'est magnifique!

Ok...where do I begin? This place is THE BEST!! I have been all over France several times and goods here are as good as over there. I've never found a good pain chocolat in North America. Here it is just like in France...the light pastry, the chocolate, yum. The breads (I've tried several) all amazing. And there's always some new "goodie" in the display case that I just have to try. I had them make me "chaussons aux pommes" because I wanted 8. All I can say is they were as good as the best ones I've had in France. Just go there. Espresso good too! And the sound of the Parisian french they speak is truly a treat too. So nice since we mostly only hear the rougher Quebecois accent here. And the ladies and their daughter tolerate my broken, high school French without any problems. Anyway, I will be a very regular customer. Bonjour!

Authentically French! Best butter croissant ever and very traditional French customer service! Highly recommendable, just leave your customer experience standards at the door.

Not bad. Went there to pick up some croissants and was not disappointed. I ordered a hot chocolate and an eclair. Unfortunately they forgot the eclair but the rest of the stuff was prepared and delicious. Once COVID is wrapped up, I will return and hope to sit down and enjoy. Thank you!

Paris bakery in the heart of Oakville. Delicious pattiserie and coffee. Need more staffs at least during peak hours. Wait times outside the store is long and its winter.

Kasia M

We went there for coffee and pastry. You order and pay for everything at the register and then the staff brings the order to your table. When ordering the coffee I was not asked how we take it. I payed $27 for three pastries and two coffees. After the order was brought to the table by a server in black gloves, same gloves she was wearing as she took my money, I asked where was milk and sugar. She said “but you have to pay extra for milk for your coffee”. I said ok I will pay extra. She took one dollar from each of us, so two extra dollars and brought a tiny jug of milk half full to the table. I wonder if we paid one dollar how much milk she would have brought? She was holding sugar and stir sticks with the same black gloves she was taking money from me. I asked for a sweetener for the coffee and I was told they do not carry any sweeteners. I have had countless coffees in countless different restaurants and pattiseries but never ever was asked to pay extra for milk. The only question you are asked at a normal place is “HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR COFFEE “. It looks like this simple questions is not part of the French tradition in Oakville yet.

Have gone here a few times now and have enjoyed everything so far. Croissants and the dessert are even better then they look. Good cafe options too. A little pricier then your usual croissant, but well worth it! …

What a great little spot for coffee and pastries. Fresh baked goods in-house. Sit outside and watch the world go by while enjoying a great cup of coffee.

The desserts are very average, similar ones can be found at European grocery stores. However because of the poor customer service I won’t be coming back.

Finally !!! A French family-owned very cute Patisserie in Oakvile !! They offer a wide selection of French pastries, croissants, pains au chocolat and... baguettes !! The coffee is excellent too. Prices are very reasonable. Félicitations et bon courage durant cette période de pandémie :)

I definitely would not recommend this place because of the extremely rude owner and the very poor management. I have been there a couple of times since opening, trying to give the place a chance as a community member. It took me a while to write this review as I needed to get over the owner's unacceptable behavior. It was last Saturday we went there with a friend, whom I knew is a regular and used to love that place. Out of the blue the owner came out of the kitchen, yelling in French, to two women-us, who had no idea about what was going on. The staff made a poor interpretation as "We can't serve you" . Apparently they/he had some experience with my friend's guest during a visit, which they failed to explain. To make the long story short, they decided not to serve two women for a reason that I still have no idea! The rudest owner and the poorest management ever. It is very unfortunate that such a gemstone on Lakeshore is wasted wıth them.

I have been here 3 times and the quality keeps getting worse and worse. For example they used fresh cream on one of their pastries when i first went, then they replaced it with the cheap canned whip cream, the taste was obvious. The coffee is abysmal, ive ordered their latte and it was burning hot, zero foam. I had one sip and tossed it. And to top it off the owner is very cold, and unwelcoming. He seemed quite neurotic. I tried to give them 3 separate tries, as at first glance it looked good. But was disappointed all 3 times. Wont be going back.

Their pastries are so delicious and made the Parisian way. The staff speaks french fluently so you really feel like you’re in France when you step into the shop. I tired their Mille feuille and their E’claire and both are heavenly delicious! Their decor is so cute and cozy, you would feel like you’re at home. They have an awesome espresso machine too! The place is super clean and they have sanitizers everywhere. It’s a great place for influencers to post on instagram too! Trust me, you gotta try it.

True French croissant! Finally a place that knows how to make a proper French croissant.

The service was excellent for placing my takeout order. I am from Montreal and love croissants, but these fell short. The outside was flaky as it should be, but the insides were only average in terms of texture/taste.

If you want real homemade French desserts you've come to the right place, tried a plethora of their pastries and it's to die for! The little mousse cakes were perfectly sweet, fluffy and moist, the chocolate almond croissants has the perfect ratio of bread with deeply rich chocolate layers topped of with toasted almonds. The flavours, the layers, presentation all top notch! It all pairs well with their rich coffee. Compared to other coffee shops where you can taste the water and coffee separately, here you get real cups of heaven. I'd order their coffee straight black as the desserts they have perfectly compliments the coffee balancing out the bitter and sweet. Definitely a exceptional coffee date spot/pastry dessert spot

Rabia M

Coffee, croissants and desserts were all delicious!

Lovely little place in Oakville near the downtown area where you can take a stroll along the lake on a nice day. We loved this little french patisserie which offered a variety of delicious croissants, breads and cake ????. Have it with a fresh cup of coffee or a latte is just perfect! Try this cute little place out. They have limited seating both indoor and outside. You will just love how yum it is *kisses fingers to lips* ????

We were so looking forward to this 'French' bakery & cafe to open, but unfortunately, it's been so disappointing! Let me preface this review with the fact that I lived in Paris for many years & appreciate French food & esp. pastries! I'm also from the restaurant industry & my husband is a retired chef so I know a bit about food. First of all the place itself is very nicely decorated & looks inviting. The really dangerous thing is the step right at the door. Don't know if that was there before or just a really bad design, but that's an accident waiting to happen & it will, unfortunately. They should really change that unsafe area!! Our first purchase was an apricot almond square which was rather tasty so we thought we would try something else. We just went in today to get some croissants etc, but when we saw what they looked like, nous étions très déçus ( we were very disappointed!). NOT only must they taste delicious they must look appetizing too!! The croissants were flat, not fluffy & slightly overdone, the almond croissants looked unappetizing & again overdone on the ends & I've never seen pain aux raisins look that strange!! I know baking depends on other factors more complex to control things like humidity etc. in order to achieve a product with good volume and an open, honey-comb texture, but the ones I saw looked like they didn't stand a chance! Anyway, we picked up 2 baked goods which were good, but not 'French' great & we've had better at another French bakery in Oakville baked by another French baker. Expected a LOT better from this French bakery!! Also, the prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!! Yes, normally French pastry is expensive as real ingredients are used, but $8.00 for a small baked item is almost insulting!!! Even for Oakville!!! Also, they don't have a website which is crazy these days. Should have one before opening!! Not everyone is on IG or Facebook!! Lastly, apologizing for speaking French between themselves is really unnecessary. That is a bit odd, to say the least. A lot of us speak French or understand that a lot of people don't speak English that well. We want really good pastries & it's nice to hear the language that's spoken in France!! BTW, handwritten signs are not classy for a French bakery!! All in all, I don't think we'll be patronizing this establishment & will advice all our friends to proceed with caution regarding the steps & to lower their expectations & not anticipate an excellent traditional French bakery like the kind there are in other areas esp in Toronto, but still not as great as the Parisian ones which I will never forget! Somewhat dismayed that the staff was not wearing masks even if there is a plastic partition. Also, black gloves?? So unappealing in a bakery!! But then again, if you don't know French pastry you will just overpay! So sorry for the long review, but I'm REALLY confused as to why this isn't a really good French bakery. :( :(

Pat Bolland

First bite and my wife says "Best ever"... We had the chocolate croissant and I'll be back to try more!

Pierre Michaud

It did not work for me. The viennoiseries looked odd. I didn't see the tradition. Instead, I saw a fusion with big bulky stuff that is often seen in North America. Did not venture. I needed a cake but they had no cake. I went for individual pastries in spite of the excessive prices. When I mentioned to the person helping me that the prices were excessive, she said "Non". But believe me, yes they are and as a proof, I won't go back. The tradition for me, would be to go in, grab a baguette, a few croissants and a couple of pastries for a friendly price... my hair undone, in my running shoes... as opposed to feeling that I need to wear Prada to fit in with the prices of this place. We'll taste the pastries tonight, wearing plain shoes.

My sister brought me to Tradition de France for a birthday treat. She was very excited to share this newly found gem in Oakville with me, she raved about it. I was a bit nervous at first because some French bakeries which I've visited make their pastries look really good but lack in flavour and freshness. I was pleasantly surprised with Tradition de France, it was amazing. I ordered the Lemon Meringue Tart with Earl Grey tea and my sister ordered the Pepité with coffee. The tart was so exquisite, the sweetness and tartness were an even balance, it was perfect. The Pepité was a fluffy brioche pastry filled with vanilla custard and morsels of chocolate goodness, it was divine. Because this was during COVID after stage 3 originally we were going to take the pastries to go but because there was just one table occupied we decided to stay, the atmosphere is lovely (each table also had a bottle of sanitizer). The owners are so nice and hard working, the service was great. I also bought three chocolate chip cookies, meringue and a loaf of fresh bread to go, all amazing. I will definitely be returning and I'll let all my friends know about this wonderful gem in downtown Oakville. Try this place for yourself and disregard the negative comment from RB, clearly this person's just drawing attention to themselves. If you don't have something nice to say, DON'T SAY ANYTHING! The world could do without negativity.

Great French bakery. Pastry is so flakey and delicious. The owner is very friendly and the bakery has a very Parisienne feel to it. Most reviews are 5 star and is well deserved. The odd 1-star reviews don’t make any sense. Of course …

Rebecca Thompson

Went once a I like it. But my review is for that RB, she is just a bad person. Even if you didn’t like it just don’t say anything and don’t go back. This family ate trying to make a living with that business and you are no one to write such a bad review. Please don’t listen to that kind of people and keep going. We need to build a strong community without those mediocre people hidden in internet. All the best and many years of business!

Clayton Reynolds

Hit and miss, and a bit overpriced for that gamble. Pain au Chocolat does not live up to its expectation, however the Mille Feuille is absolutely unreal. Plain croissant is heavier and buttery than you’d expect but somehow great. Opera Cake is also phenomal. But it’s easy to spend $40 for two.

Zei B

The paistries and the coffee are really good , I went there few times and have to say that the service is very bad. The two staff are totally overwhelmed , I had to wait for more than 10 minutes at the counter to have a glass of water, while one staff was on the till and the other one was drying the glasses. They can do great if they just work harder on their service.

I find it difficult to understand why someone would spend the time writing such a scathing, pretentious review. Starting a business at this time must be a terrifying experience, support your local entrepreneurs - when necessary provide constructive feedback to help. Is it that hard to be nice?

I can't even begin to tell you how much Tradition de France reminds me of vacationing in France. The croissants are an absolute must, and their baguettes are delicious fresh. This spot has become a ritual whenever I am looking for great breakfast ????! And the staff also speaks French for the full experience!

Ramy Zakher

I am outraged at the RB review. Some people tend to be extremely picky while they dont understand what they are talking about. Everything at the pastry shop is to die for. it is of high quality while keeping alive the true french tradition of bakery and pastry, everything is authentic. For that level of quality, the price is right. This is the first time I enjoy my baguettes and pastries, as I tend to be difficult and critical . TO the oakville resident dont listen to RB and encourage the hard working family who are doing an excellent job. good luck for many years to come

Traditional French pastries as if you're in Paris! Delicious!!!

I don't recommend this place, the worst french pastry, It's too far to be french, the croissant is not puffy...and everything is too expensive, It's a waste of money. It's not worth it.

Exquisite pastries and baguettes ! Beautiful decor with friendly service.

Cakes are delicious and so is the ambiance of the pattiserrie. I visited Tradition De France many times and unfortunately the service offered was poor. Only one assistant was consistently pleasant while the rest was consistently indifferent. We live in the times COVID and wearing a mask is mandatory and it shouldn't mean that pleasantries are no longer required. A smile or lack of it can be seen through the eyes and while a voice is harder to hear it can still sound welcoming. Today, my experience with service left a bad memory. The box with cakes used to be tied with a ribbon which prevented the contents from falling out. Now there is no ribbon and the box isn't taped either. I am always careful how I place the boxes in my car's trunk to make sure that the prescious contents stays intact and reaches my home looking pretty. Unfortunately, this time the boxes moved and flipped, and both cakes - Opera and Raspberry Tart - fell out . Needless to say that raspberries and chocolate cream created a terrible mess. Tradition De France needs to improve its customer service so experience matches the quality its creations.

Sylvia Au

Love the croissant here. I just wished they served eggs to make my breakfast complete.

Tarek Charif

The place can not look any better. Can’t wait till COVID ends so we can sit and enjoy the atmosphere. A beautiful family owned and run bakery, we had to try one of everything and can’t decide which is the most delicious yet! I have to say if you’re only buying one thing (almost impossible to do) go for the carre Oakville, probably misspelled it sorry :-) Best of luck Marie. You will do great here, welcome to Oakville. We will be regulars there for sure. merci beaucoup :-)

The Bread and Pastries are good no doubt about it.But for our experience today. They have a poor customer service and discrimination. Before I don’t agree when they say French people has a bad attitude and today we experience that. Please improve your customer service and stop discriminating. If you want to maintain the capacity of the people inside. There’s should be one person standing in front of the door to monitor the crowd who’s going inside the door and for your sitting capacity as well. STOP DISCRIMINATING CUSTOMER.

I've been here many times, and each time has resulted in a delicious pastry, excellent customer service and a great atmosphere. Their croissants are the best I've ever tried, and each dessert is clearly made with love and care. …

Delicious and in my humble opinion authentic french cuisine with the added european esque atmosphere! Definitely worth the walk over the bridge if you are in downtown Oakville

Oh my goodness...the croissants from here are amazing! Hands down, one of the best around. They were so fresh and even great the next day after (they didn’t last longer than that). I can’t wait to go back and try more things on their menu!

Delicious and cute French bakery in Oakville. We loved their breads and croissants more than their pastries. Came to dine-in a few times last summer and they seated patrons with good distance, had sanitizer etc. Some of the staff did speak French more than English, so just some patience with ordering etc.

Brendan Cubello

Amazing pastries and drinks are made with care and effort!
