Here you will be able to see the feddbacks of real people like you who know the products and services of Danish Pastry House (Bakery) in the area of Oakville (Canada).
Currently the business gets a score of 4.6 over 5 and the score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average of ratings is virtually the top, and it's founded on a large number of reviews, so we can think that the score is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are pleased, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to write opinions when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Bakery is included in the category of Bakery.
I was the DPH's biggest fan from the very start, but it's definitely not what it used to be and pastry portions have become absurdly small - even the jam isn't the same anymore. I'm amazed that they can make dough that thin and weightless! -- Mimi's Cake Tour
Best pastries in oakville. Highly recommend it. Coffee is great too.
The food here is super good, you will never forget the taste and will be back again. I should appreciate my friend who has bought some cake and cookie here. We were back here again after that.
Friendly staff and everything they have tastes great!
Taste is good . They have spoon at their store and I don’t know why ?? Do you use spoon to eat cakes or drink coffee ? …
I've been coming to DPH since they were a little place in the Cawthra/Lakeshore area. Everything is fresh, baked with heart & soul with attention to quality. Breads are great, particularly dark rye for smørrebrød, delicious pastries that are enjoyed at any time. Highly recommend any of their locations.
It's really hard to stop eating their pastries. Every time I go up to Oakville I stop in. Reminds me of my trips to Copenhagen
Excellent bread and pastries! A must try. There are several locations.
This is (so far) my ONLY 5-star rating. I am not prone to exageration, but these pastries are truly stellar. The flakiness is unlike any place else in the GTA, and I've been told it is very authentic, with lots of almond-based flavors and that amazing buttery crust.
Popper delicious pastries. Fantastic place:)
Love love love the chocolate mousse cake. I've had a couple croissants from here (they call them smorhorns) that were overdone on the bottom, but honestly the portion sizes are so good and everything tastes and smells amazing. Highly recommend if you want pastries
Delicious pastries! I highly recommend trying it out
Probably the yummiest pastries and coffee I have ever had. Consistenly delicious.
Delicious baked goods and Danish coffee. A cozy place for a snack.
Have had a wide selection of pastries/desserts from Danish Pastry house. All of them have been a success, such as the Cremeboller, any flavour of the Spandauer (apricot or apple are favs), the coconut Kokostops, and the Noddemazarin. Will be back frequently!
Discovered this place by accident as I was running to the GO Train. Saw a line-up and decided to try it. Got a choco-croissant and knew I had to go back the next time I was in the area. On the second day, I got the raspberry jam-filled croissant, and an apple flakey thing. Both very good. I did not like the chocolate covered cone looking thing that just had marshmallow inside. Too sweet and nothing special. Will definitely go back and try their Viking Slice, custard pastries and pretty much everything else. The prices are very reasonable too. I can either spend $2-3 for a croissant elsewhere that's just "meh" or come here and get a really good one.
The croissants with ham and cheese are so fresh and buttery!
Amazing selection of Danish pastries and delicious coffee!
Love the pastries here. Everything they make is fresh and delicious. Feel like you can go wrong no matter what you order. Highly recommend their Viking slice, carrot cake, roulade and cheesecakes. I’m not exaggerating, this one of the best bakeries in Toronto.
Simply the BEST pastries I've ever had. The chocolate croissants are to die for. Flaky, buttery, nice filling and great chocolate drizzled on top. Every time someone brings these into the office they're hero for the day. Impossible to get a picture because I can't wait to devour them!
Best Danish baked goods this side of Copenhagen.
Best coffee best pastries ever . Worst service ever waited over 45 minutes for a coffee and Danish. Only one person behind the counter don't come here to waste your time
Incredibly tasty. Can't wait to go back.
A good selection of pastries worth trying
Very friendly and helpful staff, and a huge variety of pastries
This is my absolute FAVOURITE cafe (pastry house) in Ontario. One of my clients brought me one of their rum balls once, and I was hooked (and I don't like rum balls). Anyone that expresses interest in cafes, coffee or bakeries, I send them here. I get a new pastry every I time I go, and I have loved every bite, no matter what I ordered. Such great quality. You can tell they care about what they do-- it shows. I love bringing friends here. Check this place out. You will not be disappointed.
So many great looking choices!! It was very nice they had some samples cut up and out for offering. Made selection easier. Many breads with different healthier? ingredients. Worth coming in just for the aroma!!!
Danish for yummy.... So good.
I have yet to try something here that I don’t enjoy. I probably come here too often. Rum balls and Gateau Marcel are highlights.
Nice pastries. One of few places in Oakville that also do decent coffee (apparently their own roast, imported from Denmark, or an exclusive roast). When done right, I like their almond croissants. Sometimes they are a little over done (a little too browned and crispy). Also find many of their pastries a little too sweet. Often with an icing drizzle on top. They have done well enough to expand and open a location in Union station downtown Toronto, usually with lineups out the door during rush hour.
The young girl made a great cappuccino.
Not a lot of choice and I was told the loaf was fresh. It wasn't.
Fantastic Danish food bread, cookies cakes etc coffee great too and rum balls are my favourite luv this place!
Always outstanding products!
An excellent place for typical Danish pastries that will curb your sweet tooth. Enjoy it with a great cup of coffee or latte. Their bread is equally as good and wholesome.
Amazing authentic Danish pastries and baked goods. Whether it's bread, coffee, or something sweet, they are good at everything they make.
Union Station has a lot of choices for croissants and so reasonable! What I am fond of is the Viking Slice. The delightful custard inside of these flaky and moist turnover pockets, that is glazed in chocolate is incredible! If you love custard or jam or chocolate do yourself a favor to shop and pick up later! I sadly miss my walks in the Eaton's Centre, as I originally discovered the brand there. Currently, I recommend this location due to the limits placed on visiting Eaton's Centre in lockdown, third iteration. The quality plus the size of your item is usually a great reason to return again and again. Try the carrot cake, and the wonderful raspberry jam custard danishes or croissants! The Front Street location has a lot of variety, although the window space is small and the store is take out.
Fantastic pastries! Freshly baked on site and super delicious.
Best pastries in Oakville. Good coffee too!
Absolutely delicious! The croissants/danishes were larger than the ones you can find in Tim Hortons. We bought the almond danish as well as the chocolate croissant and two rum balls. Fingerlicking good and all 4 cost $8.50. We were on the way to the CN tower and made a small detour and ended up hear....we were not disappointed.
Liked it, nice selection of items
Friendly staff, clean and tasty treats
Love this place. It's close to home and they have an amazing selection of pastries at a very reasonable price. Inside of the store is always clean and the staff is friendly, would recommend for a nice brunch any time.
Excellent range of Danish pastries and muffins
Excellent pastries. Hard to beat.
The pastries have been terrific but holy do they make it way more difficult to buy something there than they need to. The lady that's always there sure does love to bark at the customers! Probably why I've seen a different 2nd staff member there every visit.
Most authentic Scandinavian baked goods and appropriate meal experience
Some of the tastiest pastries I've ever had
There's nothing better then fresh baked goods. Danish Pastry house has been a long time favorite of mine and I know many people amongst my family and friends who would agree. All of their pastries are made fresh every morning and you can taste the quality of the ingredients they use. If you love baked goods, or need a treat to go with your coffee, then I highly recommend stopping by..... You won't regret it ????
My first time at this branch of the DPH. I love their pastries especially the ones with a ton of almond paste. Service is very friendly.
This is my favorite place to visit when a craving for a sweet occurs! They have plenty items to choose from and everything is always fresh and quite delectable. The interior is clean and tasteful and run by very friendly people. They recently expanded their storefront too! In store seating is now available so that you can enjoy your dessert without having to leave. The aroma in this place... ugh, it's heaven. I should mention, this place has some of the best coffee that I've had the pleasure of testing. Truly a remarkable business!
My manager has bought a few things for the office a couple of times so I've tried a couple cookies before. I don't have a sweet tooth so I found the cookies too sweet for me. I'm sure for other people it'll be the right sweetness. After passing by numerous times a purchase felt necessary. I purchased a Høj Snegl med Crème (High Snail with Custard). It's similar to a cinnamon roll but with flaky pastry and custard in the centre with a drizzle of chocolate on top. There was a hint of cinnamon but not quite enough for my tastes.
I absolutely love their products but customer service knocked off 2 stars for me. I went in the morning to purchase croissants as gifts in celebration of my friends engagement the night of and they said I can pick it up after work. Before i …
So good! The lady who helped us (whom I assume is the owner) was extremely sweet and helpful with pastry suggestions.
Was visiting first time to DPH, Pretty impressed how bad customer service i have experienced this morning today. I guess Tim Hortons comparatively employees got some antiquate to speak up in front of the customer. Kind suggestions to the manager train employees to give a good customer greet.
Nice new pastry place. Quite a varieties of pastry option. I got the viking slice a bit on the sweet side for me.
Very friendly staff. Provided free samples to help me decide without me asking. Some of the best pastries in the GTA.
As soon as you walk into this lovely, great smelling bakery. Everyone one welcomes you in, all the pastries are delicious. This is one of the best bakery’s in Ontario and I cannot say how great this bakery is. I definitely recommend you try it!
so good! lots of delish selection. I like their coffee and espresso drinks as well.
In my opinion, the best pastry shop in the GTA.
Absolutely wonderful! The pastries are flaky and delicious...no other local bakery comes close. If you have loved bakeries in Europe, then this is the place to go! And "real" bread!
Best pastry shop in the entire GTA. The owner and staff are hard-working, dedicated people who are lovely, knowledgeable, and turn out top-quality, freshly made authentic Danish pastries. Pastries are always crisp and light, not doughy or gooey. Try the sweet and savoury poppy-seed topped, almond-paste filled tebirkes, or the deliciously simple cinnamon kanelsnegls. Even the classic chocolate rum ball is exceptionally delicious when prepared by their Danish pastry chefs. They also serve excellent breads and coffees. My favourite bakery!
Amazing bakery, but happened to be served by a terrible cashier that worked today in the evening. I put my nicely wrapped Viking slice on the table, this older looking lady grabbed it to check what it was (totally fine), but literally threw …
Anything with almond custard fillings are super delicious. Great customer service too.
Best pastries around.
Try the seed Nordic bread. Delicious
Another good place fir pastry
Great bakery
Amazing pastries, but very tight space. I'd recommend taking your sweets to go. The staff here are always friendly and helpful.
I really want to like this place, but everything that I had was just too loaded with butter and sugar.
Be careful of how much they charge you!! I stopped by on my way home; I ordered a small soup bun listed for $0.50 on the shelf, and the lady charged me $3.15. Didn’t realize it until after I already paid. Very disingenuous with their pricing. From some of the other low reviews, this seems to be a recurring problem. Small amount of $$, but it was the principle. Won’t be coming again.
Have never been let down at any Danish Pastry House location. Came here last week when they were cleaning and closing up. They still served me and was very kind.
Only place to get authentic Danish treats!
The Kanel Snegl, the Tebrikes and the chokoladestang are incredibly tasty. I’ve ordered twice with uber and I am never disappointed with the value, taste, quality, and packaging! A must try
The pastries are top notch. I love raspberry almonds ones. One other point I liked - they do adhere to COVID protocol. I actually exceeded their person limit and was asked to leave. I appreciate that they did so, and I still bought six cookies. Some shop owners are shy to enforce these protocols and I would say that they should not be. COVID-19 is real and these cookies are worth the wait. :)
Coffee is good, pastries are delicious. The service is touch-and-go. You never really know what you're going to get on a given day. They are not always happy to see you here, but they have wifi and plenty of seating. Better if you're just passing through. You usually can pick up free samples with whatever you buy, which is a bonus.
Great coffee. Dangerously addictive pastries.
The best, freshest pastries, and superb coffee served up by Fraser, the most skilled and amiable baristo to grind a bean!
The best Danish pastries in town. Well, probably the only authentic Danish pastries in town, but they are delicious. Very good rugbrød (dark rye bread) and other breads. They serve smørrebrød (open faced sandwiches) and a couple of other Danish foods on the weekend. I also had an amazing skyr parfait there. Sadly the expanded food options are currently available at this location only, but it's worth the trip
Looks like a nice place. Enjoyed a coffee and the gluten free choclate cake. Also tried to order a food item from the big numbered menu hanging over the bar but was told all the food on there is only available till 10am and it was now 1130. Very odd, nothing on that numbered menu is taxing to assemble. I would have spent more if I could have.
Fantastic! Of c ppl urse the pastries are awesome but surprisingly, so is the coffee! And great service.
The espresso is awesome and I'm a coffee person. The pastries are different from what you see everywhere else which is nice, always fresh and delicious as well.
Great pastry and coffee shop
This is a FANTASTIC little place. Great customer service and truly yummy baking. Their Cinnamon Bread is like a giant cinnamon roll with icing on top, and the little Greta Garbo shortbread cookies with raspberry filling are delicious. Check this place out! :)
We are a military family and currently not in Canada. My mom is in Canada and she is working on the frontlines. We saw this place had Uber eats so even though I wasn’t in the country, I was able to get my mom & her coworkers a surprise delivery. We asked if they could put a thank you note inside, and they absolutely did! Pastries were amazing, unreal customer service, and kindest Uber delivery driver as he sent our family a thank you text. All around 10/10 and hope they do well! I look forward to supporting them when I get home and trying it out first hand! Stay safe, and thank you!
I lived in Denmark for 4 years and these definitely meet my expectations!
I was meeting a friend at Union Station yesterday and saw this place as I was passing through. Had to stop by! Staff were friendly and everything looked so good! I was only able to get two pastries (cremeboller and something resembling an almond croissant -- I forget the Danish name for it but it was delicious!) but I'm still curious about the cinammon buns and viking slice, so I hope to come back one day!
most excellent danishes, friendly spot, good selection, just wish it were closer and that malls in North America were less about ambience for the car and more about community, but that's another rant.
Very friendly and professional service. Clean and bright atmosphere. Fabulous bread and pastries!
This cute little bakery has a variety of baked goods for every sweet tooth imaginable! The Raspberry pastry that was recommended to me for $2.80 just melted in my mouth! It is a bit expensive, but the quality is worth it and the joy from eating it is priceless :)
Love this place. Definitely will go out of my way to get their danishes and cookies. Their danishes are so buttery, flaky and perfect. The staff are friendly and they make excellent suggestions when I'm looking for new pastries to try.
Pastry was good. Amazing beer bread but bad service.
Excellent Danish pastries and great bread
This is just about the best croissant I've ever had in Canada. It's perfect in every sense of the word. When you've had about a half of it you realize that it's so good that you want to immortalize the moment by taking a couple of pictures and writing a great review. It's simply genius! I truly appreciate the existence of this wonderful bakery and the team of people behind it. I highly recommend you stop by this place and experience the goodness. I know I'll be coming back here very soon!
From my personal experience, I was there 3 times and pastries are marvelous. Employees here are nice and knowledgeable. Not bad coffe that they would make in medium and large size. If you want to bring pastries home or to office - they have a big boxes. Nice selection of cakes - I would definitely try them next time!
The pastry selection here is amazing and all the ones I tried are fantastic. It's also at a very convenient location to grab pastries enroute your commute. I recommend the Royal Crown and the tarts.
Fresh pastry with the possibility to have tea and coffee with it. Nice service and friendly environment.
I’m sorry but today we picked up 8 different pastries from you around 4 pm from Union Station, and 6 of them were stale and rubbery to chew. To spend $30.00… for an oily after taste our lips , totally not worth it.
My wife really liked the butter horn
Love their pastries. I have been a fan of them ever since they first opened in Port Credit.
We go there all the time! Amazing flavour and different style pastries!!
Really fresh, tasty, and worth every penny spent! Would recommend the pastries.
One of the best pastry shops in downtown, they have amazing Danish pastries, my favourite is the rhubarb tart, it's sweet and savoury. Their Log is good too (Choklade Roulade). Coffee is tasty too, I've tried their latte and it's better than your usual Starbucks. Staff are always friendly and helpful even when they get busy!
Great place for coffee and pastry. Also picked up two loafs of wonderful bread.
The bread in this bakery is delicious, you should try it with a coffee prepared by them
Danish marzipan roll is terrific. I've been coming here a long time now, and this place is still terrific. The Danish Cinnamon Roll is the perfect balance between flakey crust and custard. This is the best cinnamon roll I've ever had.
Best Danish pastries in GTA.
An incredible bakery. Absolutely worth checking out.
I'm not really a big fan of pastries. Danish pastry house is worth visiting for its crispy, fresh and tasty but not too sweet pastries. Really worth it!!! I drop by here whenever I m around union station. I love the spandauers!!
I have been here twice now and I feel as though the pastries are a hit or miss. It may just be personal preference, but the pastries that are described as being filled tend to have little to no filling. I have seen some new items, so I am interested in trying them. However, on one occasion I was overcharged. They charged me for a Hoj Snegl when in fact I did not order one and did not receive one. My only regret was not checking my receipt prior to leaving. I tried contacting the company, but was ignored and unfortunately was not going to be in the area for awhile. With this said, I am quite resistant to give this establishment my business.
Oh so good pastries. The coffee is OK, but you can get better elsewhere, they are learning this art and have gotten better over the past year or so. But that's not what they are known for, it is their treats. The bread is a little dry but the special danish treats are very good. A huge new expansion has plenty of seating to relax. Location is good with lots of parking.
By far the best chocolate croissant I have ever had!!! This place is amazing and if you pass by it on your way to work/home do not hesitate to try one of their fresh baked pastries.
This place is heaven. All their pastrys are amazing and I don't mean really good I mean truly amazing. If you get some right when they have just been made (in the morning) you mind and mouth will be filled with bliss. The place also sells some other lunch stuff like some bread and soup coffee and some other stuff I don't remember. Just as a final bonus did you know Danish pastrys are actually Austrian.
My favourite bakery in Oakville.... Everything I've had here is fresh and so good. Rhubarb tart, swedish cinnamon bun, kajkage (frog cake), the royal crown. They always have free samples of their breads and those are also very good. Popular place in the afternoon. You can order a lovely cappuccino and have a seat and enjoy your pastry ... or get a 2nd one if you must :)
One of the best pastry cafes in GTA. My favorite.
Very nice coffee...
Excellent pastries and breads. They also serve specialty coffee from Denmark which is excellent. You wont regret stopping here.
Delicious, flaky pastry combined with what I think is the worst coffee I've had in my whole life. Do not get coffee at the union station location.
pastry the size of a postage stamp. I purchase a piece of strudel for about $2.00 it was an 8th of the strip. Yes if u get a bun or an whole piece of cake - sure -- My comment was directed to your staff cutting it up into small pieces. for about $6.00 i would the whole strip at your Pape ave. store
The quality of the baking is exceptional. Price is exceptional.
Great place but very small seating area.
The best pastry I ever had beautiful and friendly staff coming back thank you
Great coffee and love the selection of pastries and bread
Such a delight, Danish pastry at its best!!
You can't miss the pastries ???? from this place if you are transiting through Union Station. There may be a teeny line to get in since it's a take out place and only 2 people are allowed inside at a time (post covid). …
Absolutely amazing pastries!! I've never been to Denmark, but the pastries seem authentic. The chefs are straight from Denmark. Cannot go wrong with these. It is our go to now for any pastry occasion.
Very delicious pastries, really! It was our first visit today at Danish Pastry House (Oakville branch) and we were amazed by the very nice variety of pastries they have. It took us about 10 mins to select from the wide variety the had. We really enjoyed the taste of their pastries and we definitely will come back again & again ????????????????
Discovered this place half a year ago and can't stop ordering from them! I usually go with her eats delivery. My favs are from balls, ham and cheese croissant and apple strudel. Also, I like their breads especial the walnut one. Too bad they don't slice bread.
Great coffee, awesome pastries, friendly staff.
I just love this place... If u want a freshly baked bread. Pastries and amazing salmon drizzled with a dill dressing and salad on a rye then this is it for you.! It reminds me of home in the UK and my time traveling in Europe... The Danes ???????? do great pastries... I treat myself every Saturday to a quiet moment accompanied with a tasty croissant and Earl grey ???? with a smile from the most friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you. ????
Sweet and expensive. These are decent pastries but the price point for them is excessive and nothing really stands out for me. I was shocked how much half a dozen are. There are no savory options for pastries here either. The staff are pleasant enough, fast and efficient but it does little to make up for the marked up for what feels like airport pricing here.
My absolutely favorite - The Viking Slice. So yummy! Service and coffee can vary, but for the most part is good.
If you are reading this review you probably like coffee, pastry and sweet treats. Well, look no further! Its the best. Seriously, check out the photos! Or better yet, go there right now and try a tart!
Had an amazing ham croissant and really good coffee.
Genuine Danish pastry. Yum!
This place is where everything just looks and feels delicious that you don't want to ruin anything. Very nice bunch of people that work there and happy to see they have expanded!
Wow! So impressed with this place. The coffee is delicious, the pastries are amazing, the decor is a nice change and the staff are patient, helpful and friendly. I hope they open a shop in Hamilton! Soon!
We frequent both the Union Station and Eaton Ctr locations. Sometimes, at either, there can be a decent sized line; but butterhorns are always worth the wait! I can't get enough of their delicious pastries plus there are many gluten free options.
Product/Service: 5/5 Wide selection of pastries. My favourites are the snails, but on a quest to try every glorious thing in this shop. Location: 5/5 Central location. What is more central than Union Station? They also have a shop in Eaton Center. Price: 5/5 Very reasonable. Atmosphere: 4/5 Typical bakery, small, but everything you need.
Giving honest feedback, hope this is constructive as I live in the area and am always hoping to find a delicious bakery and a local shop to support. We got a box of pastries including: Cinnabon buns, chocolate Danish, some pastry with a fillingcustard and chocolate drizzle and pack of plain buns. The plain buns were good. All the other pastries were subpar, overloaded with sugar (not in a good way) and not good at all. Just a very bad combination of flavours and balance of sugar. (and I have a massive sweet tooth and I thought the pastries were too sugary especially the ones with chocolate) For example, the chocolate Danish was greasy and has a thick slab of chocolate at the bottom which when you bite into it, it tastes like an overly sweet and cheap quality chocolate glaze, which then leaves a bitter aftertaste. The Cinnabon buns were also too sweet.
Delicious variety of pastries with very Dutch sounding names. Great to grab and go when on the run through Union Station.
I was there this morning, and got a paper cup for my coffee even though I ordered to eat in .
The staff was super sweet and welcoming. I haven't tried the pastries yet but I'm super excited to! They look Delicious
Wonderful breads, fantastic desserts and friendly staff.
Delicious pastries and bread
I hit this place up every time I take the train, my whole family loves their breads and sweets. The cheesecake is particularly good, I tried it today as is the rhubarb soda and gluten free bread. Frankly everything we've had has been phenomenal and we have tried a fair amount of what they carry. Looking forward to going there again the next time I'm in Union Station.
Best danish pastries in Halton. Tried various varieties and all were great. Take out box need an update as it has opening which leaves pastries dry out quick.
Delightful pastry house with products unknown to the vast majority of Torontonians at incredibly reasonable prices. Their coffee is also superb. If I could only make a suggestion :at rush hour the people at the cash register seem a bit confused.
Delicious and authentic Danish pastries and breads. They've just expanded and now have a seating area to enjoy a coffee and treat at the shop.
Wonderful eatery. Great hole cooked pastries and foods. Highly recommend !
Amazing danish pastry, we are regulars.
Located in the newly revamped concourse of Union station, this location has become a standard draw for commuters going in and out of Union. Opens bright amd early at 7am and there's always a lineup. Location matches the old school feel of their pastries. Excellent friendly service although no place to sit and sip your coffee with their treats. Still a good pit stop in the mornings.
Would I Return - ✔ YES Would I Recommend - ✔ YES A fantastic place with just enough seating to comfortably enjoy a Coffee and a Snack. There's plenty of fresh baked goods to choose from so there's no way you're leaving this place empty handed. They also make a proper pastry! Crafted buttery, flaky and with the right amount of crisp texture. Some items: ????️Høj Snegl (Snail Pastry)- Custard, Cinnamon and Chocolate ????️Smør Firkanter (Butter Squares) ????️Kringle ????️Cremeboller (Cream Buns) Crispy on the outside, filled with custard, marzipan and Belgium chocolate. Drizzled with chocolate glaze. ????️Småkager (Cookies) - An assortment of traditional Danish cookies. ????️Danish Rye Bread ????Notables: ????️Rumkugler (Danish Rum Balls) - A Danish bakery favourite made with Danish pastry, coconut, rum and marzipan. ????️Marzariner (Almond Tarts) - pineapple, raspberry chocolate, orange almond, blueberry lemon. ????Special Features ✔Kontra Coffee imported from Denmark ✔Hot Chocolate made from Real Melted Chocolate ✔Open Faced Sandwiches at this location
Recommend trying the Gateau Marcel! Perfect if you're looking for something rich/chocolate.
Amazing pastries and best coffee.
best pastry place in oakville.. period.. oh and yeah.. u gotta try the coffee
Really overrated, pastries are ok, but the service was really bad, asking for recommendation no advice, bought few items, asked for a plastic bag to put everything together, the cashier just left the bag on the table. Not a pleasant visit.
Great quality and flovour
The staff is nice and friendly but they don’t have what the advertise. I had to wait in line for quite some time to hear that they have nothing from the menu which is huge in size and hanging right on the middle of the place. Left with nothing in my hands.
Friendly staff, interesting and tasty treats!
Best Danish pastries I have had since Copenhagen. The Viking slice is amazing and the tebirkes were great.
Tasty baked good and fresh coffee.
Wonderful pastries and desserts specialy if you have a raspberry weakness. They also know how to do quality espresso drinks with the Cortado on their list which is a rare yeast to find and even more rate to find done right.
A great selection. Fresh and tasty. Not the usual pastries, that's what makes it different. Was able to make a phone order and pick up at location closets to me
Incredible food, everything was so light and flavourful. The service was fantastic, staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning in the near future.
Absolute best location IMO (aside from NewMarket). Great service always and reliably delicious food baked daily. Highly recommend Aebleschnitte (apologies for spelling) and their Lattes
Great selection and I can confidently say one of the best Cinnamon Buns I have ever had. ????
The authentic Danish bakery doesn't use any preservatives, baking everything at the location. Some ingredients are imported from Denmark, like the marzipan and the Danish Contra coffee beans.
Lovely staff. Good coffee. Nice pastries. The young man who served me was ridiculously polite and the older gentleman who made my coffee was exceedingly kind.
Tart was typical. But I have to say that the shop was famous for the Danish, and maybe my choice was not good????
The best pastry shop in town
Union stations best kept secret? ...tucked away from the main flow of commuter traffic, this place is well worth the one minute detour to and from your train! Good coffee and delicious pastry, cake and buns. As of 2020-05-29, they are also still open! One of the few places still serving and the only spot to get good coffee. Staff are friendly, too!
Very good pastries and tea
There might be a line up, it's a small shop! But the ladies were super helpful and nice.. you can ask them about the pastries and they'll let you know! Really can't wait to head back and stock up!
Good variety, tasteful and lovely atmosphere.
I'm not sure what these desserts were called, but I'll attempt to describe them, from top left going clockwise: Strawberry rhubarb custard tart was 5/5 - perfect amount of sweetness combined with tartness. Cheesecake was also 5/5 - way better than Dream Factory (Cheesecake Factory). The crust was delectable and stood out, and the cheese part was to my taste. Overall not too sweet and well textured, thus to me, also better than what the best Italian bakeries have to offer. Next was an almond tart with raspberry filling - totally delicious, but I found it a little too sweet, thus 4.5/5. It's like a much better bakery version of the raspberry almond crostata you find in the grocery stores. Finally, the custard Danish was similarly tasty, and the pastry had a perfect amount of crunch. However, I found it too sweet also, thus 4.5/5. I would give this place 4.5 overall if I could. I'm going back soon!
If you dont like custard this is not the place for you. Everything is filled with custard.
Pastries are so good
Freshly baked every day, even bread. Mouth watering taste. Sit and enjoy with something to drink be it coffee, tea brewed fresh. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Totally recommended for its taste and cafe vibe
I go here frequently and love all the pastries. My most favourite is the custard and apple pastries. Choco cake , almond croissant are all time favourite. Tried vanilla custard cookies this time and loved it. A short height lady with grey hair is lovable and always helpful in the counter. Compared to other locations, this is not busy and customer service is good !
Well... Danish pastries just as tasty as those in Denmark ! Danish open face sandwiches made to order as well. The bread and buns as well are true Danish. Get a piece of pastry...or two and an Americano coffee. Y U M Always a go back : )))) Again...and again!
Ohhh so good!
Friendly service, cute atmosphere, and fabulous danishes! Bread and sandwich items were also great. ????????
The Danish I had - chocolate covered heaven - was quite delicious. Nice comfortable atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
The food is really nice and the staff
Always fresh and delicious Danish breads and pastry! Some of them taste better than in Copenhagen!
Apple, marzipan and chocolate are the magic words
I found a hair on my pastry, and after letting the staff know about it, he did not care at all! It was really rude!
Food: exquisite. Ambience: Excellent. Service: Impeccable. After a good drive from Montreal, the DPH was just desserts to a fantastic weekend. Having gone to the Sherway location, was greeted promptly and politely; and they were somewhat surprised when I asked if their largest box was indeed the biggest box they had... Bought a great selection, and had a great conversation with some enthusiastic proud Danish Patry House people. Will be back again soon, and urge any and all to frequent for hygge. Tak!
The flakiest pastries ever. So light and delicious!
Convenient location in union station. Lots of options, only tried the chocolate croissants this time and they were good! Flaky, buttery goodness. Would buy again!
Excellent Danish pastries! Perhaps the best in the GTA...
Out of this world flaky rich pastries!
I love coming here. The pastries are not too sweet. There's always a hint of marzipan. Royal crown is one of my favourites.
Sample anything you wish, fabulous bread, pastry and espresso/coffee, all made and served by friendly staff. Seating is not intimate nor enough, but its clean and simple.
If you want delicious pastries and croissants this is the place. We had the galette, the chocolate croissant and the cheese croissant which was my favorite
The coffee was good and the croissant is flakey and buttery as should be!
Tasty treats but a bit too sweet, hearty quality breads, but don’t expect a smile with the service. We’ve been going to their Oakville location since they opened years ago, and the staff pretend to not to know us. Not the friendliest bunch. And I still don’t understand why they refuse to get a bread slicer.
Great customer service. Give this place a try. Someone who has a sweet tooth will love it here. Varieties of pastries. Loved it
You can't go wrong with anything here. The hot chocolate is amazing. The treats are perfection indulgence. The smorhorns and coconut cake are my favourites. The nut and seed bread is so densely nutritious and can be frozen - perfect hiking fuel. Also had the chocolate mousse cake and it was SO delicious, decadent and smooth.
How I love thee Danish Pastry House! Been frequenting since they opened their first Oakville location way back when. The tastiest, cronchiest, flakiest pastries you’ll ever try. The Union location usually has a line up out the door during morning rush hour but it’s also when the pastry is most fresh. Stopping by on the way home you’ll find a lesser selection on the cusp of selling out. My favourites are the filled croissants and Hej Snegl (it’s round and filled with custard, cinnamon and topped with chocolate). The pastries are on the pricier side generally ranging between $3-4 but well worth it.
Great latte. And the best chocolate croissant.
The breads are delicious and fresh.
After trying the Eaton Centre location several weeks ago, I went today to the Union Station location. Pastries were of course the same, but the customer service was worse at this place. I have the impression that the staff is totally stressed out and it feels like you are visiting a fast food place, but a badly organized one. Sour and tired faces everywhere, no smile, just.....next customer!!!!! Also the way the pastries are displayed???? Never seen this in a place asking $ 3 for a croissant. It gives me the impression that management/owner doesn't care, as they think they are going to sell them anyway. Maybe the staff is just not happy and exhausted?????
Large variety of fresh Danish pastries. Personal favorites are Chocolade Roulade, Raspberry Butterhorn.
Really clean and European style bakery with variety of pastries and baked items. Reasonable price! Good atmosphere
Very tasty pastries, coffee and green tea. Open sandwiches and soups are perfect for lunch. Our family loves this place very much.
Fantastic. Whatever you buy is delicious
I found hair in my dessert
Amazing food, great coffee
Yummy pastries and open face sandwiches. Good coffee.
This is BY FAR the best pastry house in the city. I know that I do not stand alone in my recommendation, given the sheer volume of people at the union location every morning. Despite it's business, the queue is always moving quickly, thanks to the effective system they have in place. The staff is polite, well organized and efficient. Their coffee menu is to die for and hands down they make the richest, strongest cappuccino in the city that I constantly dream about. Well priced, good service and excellent quality products. Definitely glad I discovered this gem and HIGHLY recommend.
Melt in your mouth pastry - seiously, this place has figured it out.
Delicious sweets and breads.
Outstanding product and selection
A wonderful selection of breads, pastries, cookies, etc. Plus they make a nice cup of coffee!
Hands down one of the best pastries and coffee in the area. Everything is always fresh and flavourful. Highly recommend!
Food is good. Coffee is weak. Staff members had to apologize for broken coffee machine. Workers were very polite and efficient.
My favourite are the Spandauers! Very flaky and crispy pastries, delicious!
I was at this bakery last Friday and had the most wonderful experience ever. It was the first time I was in, so I needed some help to choose some goodies. There was a lady working there, her name was, if I am not mistaken Lyn, who gave me the best customer service ever. She explained all the ingredients to me, asked me what I actually liked and then walked me through all the pastries. I was planning to buy about 4 pastries and walked out with 10!!!! Not good for my waistline, but it was so worth it. I will be back that's for sure to enjoy the wonderful customer service combined with the best Danish pastries! And by the way she advised me to try the Danish coffee as well, which I did. No more Starbucks for me....... Thank you Danish Pastry House!
Been getting pastries for the past 2 years here. But for some reason, quality seems like it has gone down. Pastries don't taste as fresh. Cakes seems to be quite dry.
Best lemon cake I've ever tasted.
Love this place! Always place large order at Christmas. Place order a month in advance and pickup Christmas Eve so it is fresh.
Just tried the croissants so far and I loved it.... So tasty and well baked. Will come back soon to try different stuff.
My husband is from Danmark and was super excited to hear of such a shop. Closest taste to what he's used to back home. The pastries are very good!
Just had a rum ball. Easily the BEST rum ball I've ever had!!! Reasonably priced too. 20 out 5 stars!!! :)
Absolutely love Danish Pastry House! Breads are sooooo delicious and healthy! I wanted to keep supporting them during lockdown and was so happy to see Danish Pastry House on UberEats. I ordered a few items and they surprised me with their generosity by adding extra pastries!
In the basement of Union Station. I like them. Apple cinnamon cake is new. Grab them before you go to work as there might be none after work. Buy any coffee for a free rum ball.
Delicious pastries especially croissants and the "gateau marcel" (gluten free chocolate cake). The americano is served piping hot and absolutely delicious. Everything I have tried here has been worth the price and calories!
The most delicious chocolate croissants I've ever tasted. The buttery taste melts in your mouth. Some other selections have been hit and miss. This place is tiny and can get busy with most people trying to order from selections they can't pronounce or know the ingredients.
This is my favorite especially while travelling but the guy is mean i dont know what his deal is
Granddaughter loves the ¨snails¨, I love the Viking slices.
This used to b my favorite bakery, i will visit the bakery when in oakville. I paid 15.00 dollars for 4 cross. My son loves these he onky ate one. He said " they were doughy," i would have returned tgem had i been in the area. U hope this is a 9be off.
Very Unfriendly Service - Stay Away. I walked in with a stroller and was constantly glared at by the owner and other staff members. I asked to eat-in but was still given everthing in To-Go package, even though other people that were eating-in were served in proper plates and mugs. Definitely not a family friendly place. Also, is not wheelchair accesible.
What was once a hidden gem in Port Credit, and then Oakville has just become too commercialized. The quality of their baked goods has decreased significantly and perhaps due to them putting more care into expanding (quantity) over quality control. My latest experience will sadly be my last. I always wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and kept giving them another chance but what I received yesterday was a far cry from what used to be layered and flaky. It is now paper thin danish dough. This tasted more like a supermarket danish, which was way too soft and really soggy. Piece was also very small in comparison to past experiences. I would rather pay more and get better quality than whatever it was that I had received. Very disappointing.
Best pastry house. If your get the chance , come to the Oakville location, the staff are super friendly and helpful. There are samples to try . It was so hard to pick just one, so I had to get a box , and “share”. A lot of the pasteries have almond paste which I love! There was a constant flow of people and lines , but the staff were great with managing the people, while providing excellent service .
Love your pastries! Wish the chocolate mousse cake is slightly less sweet but still enjoyed it, definitely will come back!
The best pastries ever! Every time I have a meeting I bring some for the staff and everyone asks where they are from. Friendly staff and delicious coffee too.
The pastry here is fantastic! We went there after a huge brunch and still could help stuffing our face some more. I should also mention that the coffee there is also excellent. One of the best flat whites I have had ( I didn't know what a flat white was until I visited Australia lol )
Delicious flaky pastry that's reminiscent of those in Europe
Love the chocolate croissants!
My absolute favourite place to stop by before my morning commute! No other bakery in the city compares. Despite the amount of customers daily, the food is consistently fresh and the staff are always friendly. I've never had a problem at this location, and I always look forward to returning. I'd highly recommend the overskåren :)
Genuine Danish bakery. We visit Denmark every year and this bakery would fit right in.
Very delicious Danish croissant ????, not very sweet, love it ❤️
Hard not feel in Denmark when you choose any of these fine breads or exquisite pastries..What a treat! ????
Love the store and the pastry. I highly recommend it. If you are looking for something to indulge yourself this the place.
It is really good. Not overly sweet. High quality desserts without a ton of sugar. A step above for sure. If you are looking for a quick inexpensive treat to surprise your wife with, bring home a half dozen in a box and nosh your way through the weekend.
Delicious pastries, good to eat on the go or as dessert. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well. Still practicing how to pronounce Hindbær Snitter
Super friendly service, great coffee and great pastries
Customer service very bad, people are not friendly at all, I have been several times , and every time I go , I say to myself I will give them another chance, until one day I have had enough. Very mean and hostile employees, not welcoming and they make you feel that they are doing you a favor, if you ask for large quantity they ask you if you called ahead, and make you feel bad that you are ordering that much. They always tell you let me check if we have enough, which is ridiculous for a store like this to limit the quantities they give you. Horrible Horrible customer service and very pricy. I stopped going there few months ago and I don't recommend it. Go and check the customer service then write our own review
Awesome place. You can order custom treats too for pick up at a later date. Like the fantastic coconut dream cake, which you can get with coffee in it. The only downside is that it can get hectic pretty easily once more than 2 customers are waiting. Worth it.
Authentic Danish pastry. Even the smell in the shop is authentic. Love the place, love the cakes. (yes, I'm Danish!)
I grew up in Denmark for a time, and god do i miss the food in general. This place is a godsend. Traditional cocoa glaze, lots of marzipan, fried almonds. If you are used to what "danishes" are just about everywhere else, this place has nothing like that. The quality is great, the pastry i flaky and buttery as it should be. Its not quite the same as in Denmark (thats to be expected) but its MILES above anything else you can get here, and very much authentic danish.
Update Jan 11/2019: It's been a while since I shopped at The Danish Pastry House at Union Station. The Customer Service is still mediocre - the staff are not rude but they are not friendly and helpful either. None of them seem happy or …
Don’t waste your money. The service is unfriendly, super expensive, the coffee sucks and they’re extremely unwelcoming towards families. There are so many better cafes and bakeries around that don’t glare at us while we eat.
Very fresh store made baked goods. Tried a variety of baked confections, I recommend the "tall snail" (I don't know the danish word, it's a soft flaky pastry with chocolate and custard) and apple short crust square. Nice small cookies for kids too. I also tried the light rye bread. I have a German background so I've eaten lots of rye, theirs is a good one! Great crust and very soft.
Good coffee. Pastries were great lots of selection. Price on the other hand a little too high but they are in Oakville. Can’t expect too much from Oakville ????♂️
Excellent Danish pastry and bread
The pastries and cake were very fresh. I went on a late Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago. I really recommend the raspberry rhubarb cake and the cinnamon rolls. They were most flavourful and fresh.
Like ultra light flaky heaven, never had lighter pastry
The best pastries I have tasted in Canada. Their flaky pastry just melts in your mouth.
Delicious pastries. Lots of varieties. Staff is very patient and willing to describe each item to you. Coffee is also good.
The food was good but the portions were tiny. And went away hungry. Good variety of pastry. Place was clean. Staff was pleasant. I would only go again to buy pastry not to eat.
Wow! Incredible and delicious selections.
My family loves this place. Our all time favorites high snail with custard and celebration buns
Most authentic light flaky not too sugary danish available. You can taste the quality ingredients!
Great pastry place. A must visit in Oakville
The older lady is kinda mean, but it comes with benefits: she's really good at throwing out homeless people. Their pastry is good, so if you don't mind a colder start of the day, this is a good place.
Delicious danish pastries and bread!
Always fresh products and attentive workers
Amazing Shop, friendly staff, delicious baked goods.
Wonderful whole grain breads and luscious almond pastries
Pastries were delicious, but customer service wasn't that friendly. Sort of felt like we were bothering the staff there by taking our time to look at the pastries as it was our first time there. There wasn't a line or anyone else waiting so I don't know why they were making us feel like we should hurry up and get out.
So disappointed. I recommended this place to many of my friends and family as it was a favourite for pastries. Now their quality has gone down it seems. Bought a dozen pastries today. They were awful dripping with butter to such a point that we had to spit it out. How do you go from good to actually gross?
Love this place!...and that's all I have to say about that!????
Food is great but customer service wasn't that friendly
Chocolate croissants were outstanding
Very tasty pastries and baked bread. The staff are very kind and courteous. Take there time to answer questions. Return often.
Hog snegl and gâteau Marcel were amazing, especially the cake because it is gluten free. Very reasonable prices.
Great selection of sweet treats and a few savory options. The pastries are delicious as well as the green tea. Great athmospgere and friendly service. I would rate it 5 stars except I find the coffee has a sweet taste that I personally dont enjoy and the cuttery can be sticky sometimes. Other than that great place.
Great coffee, better pastries and the best service.
Honestly some of the best pastries we have ever had. Truly amazing
The pastries are good, yes can be a little overpriced as mentioned by others. I visit the Union Station location regularly. Recently I have scaled back visiting. There is an older woman who works there that seems to be miserable and can be rude/abrupt. There were some other very friendly staff who worked there who are no longer there. This is a turn off encountering people like her.
Love the pastry here...never had anything that I did not enjoy.
Great Danish pastries and bread - recently expanded and added Kontra coffee that was great! Seating available and they can be busy but it is worth it.
I was so happy when I stumbled upon this cute little pastry shop in Union Station. The staff was super helpful and friendly. She told me that if I bought a certain number of pastries, they would be tax free. Yay! The pastries themselves were not equally good. Some were more delicious than others. Some were just plain too sweet. Nevertheless, I’m now a fan of this pastry shop.
The best pastries I ever had. Sometimes it's burnt a little bit and To-go box seems need to redesign for the better quality. But always fresh and tasty ????
I went in last week to buy pastries for my office for a breakfast meeting, except...there were hardly any pastries available, although it was after 8 and the store was already open. I get it that the production moved to a new facility (according to the staff), but it baffles me that if you try to run a business in a professional way and you are opening several stores, that you are not able to get your products on time in a store. The store also looks neglected since the move and the employee turnover is beyond comprehension. Probably the staff is very unhappy and stressed out, frankly I can't blame them at all. A huge disappointment, next time I will go to a bakery where I can find the products available on time!
Authentic Danish pastry. Top quality. Try the kanelsnegl!
First impressions is fantastic products Nice ,clean and fresh and very friendly service.
Drive five miles to buy their bread
Quality has gone downhill. When I first tried it when they opened at Union 3 years ago it was excellent. Ive noticed in the last 18months (since they started expanding so much) portion sizes/slices are smaller, pastry is over cooked and lacking flavour (abelsnitee).
Best baked goods and breads in Oakville. Also there coffee is #1 anywhere makes Tim's look like some back ally drug den.
This is the real Danish pastry like in Europe. If only other places can hold themselves to such high standards of banking.
This place has amazing pastries and bread loafs! The almond croissant is my favourite item - it's to die for!
I’ve had some of their products before and they tend to be very good. This review is more about the service I received today at their union station site rather than the product. I was told hello upon entry, however, despite being the only customer in the store I felt like I was rushed during my experience. Staff were rather cold and rude (sadly seems to be a bit of a pattern from other reviews over the past few months). I ordered 6 fruit custard tarts and a staff member put them all into one paper bag. When I got home, they were squished and broken on top of eachother. Any other bakery or even grocery store wouldn’t put multiple tarts in a paper bag for this reason. Hopefully they can look into some small cardboard boxes (it always seems like they only have a few massive cake boxes). This has been an issue for me before, so thought I’d put in that recommendation. They were supposed to be a birthday treat for a friend but I was too embarrassed to gift them.
This place is unreal. The pastry’s are unlike anything I’ve ever had before. I go out of my way whenever I can just to grab a sweet treat. They also have an amazing selection of gluten free pastries as well. If you are near union station, you must must must check it out!
Still great staff and coffee! But 2 days in a row my latte has been just warm after asking for extra hot. I have no problem with your lack of parties and breads due to Bakery update. That is growth. But we drive 20 minutes to get to you to support small businesses and get the best coffee around. But if it isn't hot and Starbucks and Second Cup coffee is, then I will go there instead. They are closer to home. Try you again in a few weeks. Really miss Grace and Anna. Take care, Ladies!
Buttery, fluffy, delicious! I love their pastries and chocolate log cake.
Very authentic Danish pastry, brings back good memories.
Everything here is delicious, today they were offering $1 premium coffee. One awesome bakery.
The Danish Pastry House is stupendous! The hoj snegls are to die for! I thoroughly recommend the Danish Pastry House.
My wife lovessss this place.
Love the coffee! the pastries are authentic and delicious!
Love their pastries, always so delicious. Sometimes the cinnamon buns are a little hard, but when they are fresh...they are so good!
Great coffee and treats. Highly recommended.
I am not typically a dessert person, nor do I like the American-style danish due to their heavy, sickening sweet nature. I stopped here to pick up bread and a few kage and pastries for my husband with the intention of taking a bite or two. Before I knew it I ended up eating half of everything and probably would have devoured the whole thing myself! While I personally felt the pastries with fruit glaze on them were a bit on the sweet side, my husband's sweet tooth loved them. I found everything else to be pleasantly balanced. Moreover, both my husband and I agreed that the pastries were light and crisp. The way pastries should be, but never are. The breads were wonderful, both their sandwich breads and their traditional dense breads. We also felt the price point was excellent when compared to a chain bakery or a high end grocer's bakery. We quickly decided to make this our go to place. As a side note, the lady who was manning the store was excellent at helping me navigate the foreign names and styles of the breads and pastries. I explained I was new to the world of Danish breads and pastries, what types of American style baked goods we traditionally consumed and she pointed me in the right direction.
Amazing selection of baked good to go along with coffee
