A wonderful hidden gem to escape from the snow. The latte was next level and the service exceptional. The manager emma cleared the snow off a table for us and Ciaran gave me a book to read! Great novel called ghosts by Raina Telgemeier. 10/10 recommend.

I love this quaint little spot! Homemade food to eat in or take out is beyond delicious. Excellent coffee and espresso. Really charming setting and unique garden centre. Limited indoor seating.

I love this little cafe - and I also love leaving tips. But I had to drop my review from a perfect 5 out of 5 because I hate the way your credit card machines work. They force you to leave a tip. I love giving away my change for a job well done but I love leaving it in cash. But the machines here force you to pick a dollar amount or a percent, there is no options like other cafe's that ask "do you want to leave a tip" - instead it just assumes you do. What about all the change in my pocket that's weighing me down? Please change the machines to ask if the person wants to leave a tip and not making they feel like they are forced too.

No one said hi or acknowledged my entrance and it’s a mess in there - you have no idea where you need to stand to order food. Not a single dairy free item. They had this nice looking Indian food and they even ruined that with dairy when Indian food is notoriously good for vegetarian and vegan diets.

I live in a nearby neighborhood but lately on trips back from Willows beach I started stopping here for sweet treats. For about 6 months that's about all I did--until a friend and I grabbed some delicious to go salads before Xmas. This past week I wasn't feeling like sweets (must have been ill!) and I noticed while browsing a fellow sitting down and eating the most delicious looking large lunch. I just about leaped on it and dove in! So this week I deliberately made my way to Demitasse to get something interesting for dinner. And boy did I strike it lucky. I got this delicious homemade beef curry with a very interesting rice salad (with chunks of squash--unique and divine) and I couldn't believe the price for a huge take away meal. In a nutshell what I love about this place--and not necessarily in this order--the selection of quality take home meals, the fantastic garden centre with plants you don't see anywhere else, the delicious sweets, the small grocery selection AND the very nice and efficient staff. Also if you are vegetarian it;s really nice that they make it quite clear on the front display case which foods are likely to be vegetarian or meatless or gluten free. In other words you don't have t quizz the staff for hours--you can look and easily see what might work for a restrictive diet. What blows me away--and my sister owned a catering business similar to this--is the NUMBER of freshly prepared selections they have throughout the day. They don't seem to run out like alot of places do. Whole Foods could lesrn a hell of alot about how to run a take out department from these people! You got o Whole Foods in the early afternoon and their hot food case is ALWAYS nearly depleted with just some pathetic looking "paleo" carrots or other unappetizing concotion. What I love about Demitasse it is that it's clear to me that whoever is running the kitchen cares about the quality and taste of the food they are selling. The staff are always helpful and cheerful and they can be hugely busy. Just before I arrived about 30 people on bikes descended on that tiny little cafe and it was amazing how quickly they procssed all those orders. One of my biggest complaints about Victoria bakeries (especially Wildfire) is that you go in there and have to wait 10 minutes while they pour a cup of coffee and retrieve a dessert for someone. They just don't seem to care. Kudos to Demitasse for keeping up standards for many years. Not many food establishments can say that!

Five star garden store - 1 star cafe unless money is no object and you don't mind snotty staff. I split the difference at 2 stars. The food is nice but a bit pricey for what you get. Staff inside always act like serving you is a chore - garden centre staff are always fun/nice.

I have finally found a good cup of coffee so perfect I literally enjoyed every sip and didnt need to add a thing. My only issue is that it's on the opposite side of the city and i cant have it whenever i want. Was it a one cup wonder? I wont know until I visit you again. Looking forward to that.

Wow. Stumbled upon this café whilst on a Sunday bike ride. Food was amazing- fresh and wholesome, and the selection of baked goods was refreshing. Definitely coming back to this place. Also... Checkout the secret seating in the backyard garden centre. Magnificent!

This place is amazing!! The food is absolutely delicious and the coffee is the best I've had in Victoria. The garden is so gorgeous as well, it's just the perfect setting. There's something for everyone with beautiful plants and flowers for sale too. Definitely worth visiting :)

The baked goods at Demitasse are to die for! I recommend anything and everything. The coffee is meh, but go if only for the food. There are snacks, as well as lunch and dinner options. I've never been to there for the garden centre, but it is also quite popular.

Had a frustrating experience here. I came here for the first time to pick up a few boxes of treats to bring to someone's house. I told them I wanted it in two separate boxes because I figured it would be too much for a usual bakery box. Strangely enough, this bakery doesn't have bakery boxes. It has sandwich takeout containers which they use for takeout baked goods. Ordinarily I wouldn't care, but they're much smaller than bakery boxes and it resulted in my baked goods not being able to fit into two boxes. No problem I said, just put it into another box. Instead, the gentleman gave it to me in this flimsy wax takeout bag. I was in a rush so I didn't make a fuss about it, but the end result was by the time I got to where I was going, I had discovered he had squished the croissants and butter tarts into one box (resulting in misshaped croissants and broken butter tarts), and broken cookies in the other. It looked like I was bringing my leftover food to someone's house, instead of fresh baked goods straight from the store. The baked goods were tasty, the prices were okay, the staff were friendly enough. I'm just surprised for a bakery they aren't more prepared (or trained) for guests with larger takeout orders.

Insanely overpriced food, no prices on the menu, but the staff are friendly. Went there for lunch today and although the food was good (lamb curry and GF peanut butter cookies) it was not $58 of good for two people! The portion sizes are more like tasters and leave you wanting for more, while your wallet is still recoiling from the massive punch in the gut. I will never return to this overpriced boutique store

So we need to talk about the food at Demitasse. I'm surprised its not more widely talked about, because it's exceptionally good. There's a rotating set of features that are ready at the counter (I've never seen the same thing twice) and it's always incredibly good. Factor in that the price point is quite fair for the quality of food, and that there's charming garden patio seating, and you've got a big-time winner here! The pizza and baked goods are also delightful :)

This charming cafe is tucked inside a pocket-sized garden centre. Deli foods, desserts, and hot and cold drinks are available to enjoy on-site or to take out. There are a couple of tables inside, but it’s more enjoyable to dine at one of the small outdoor tables, surrounded by the flowers and plants (which you can buy!). Staff are friendly and helpful. Ample parking for bicycles at the front, and a few spots for cars, too. A real gem. P.S. Try the salads!

The baked goods are nice. The coffee is passable. Sadly the dinner entrees are tasteless and very pricey for what you get. Won’t get dinner there again but would drop by for a sweet treat. Staff is not particularly friendly. Beautiful plants!
