This Bakery is classified in the category of Cafe.
Croissants are to die for. There's always a line in the mornings, but it's super worth it.
Great coffees and service. Sticky buns are something to experience. I highly recommend this coffee house.
Best croissants ever.
A great place to get delicious Americanos and croissants. Bonus points if you get here via ferry from Halifax.
Great place to go for coffee, some of the staff isn’t really the friendliest but overall good coffee and I love the croissants.
Love there croissants. The green onion scones are probably the Best in Halifax.
Most importantly - the location is perfect!!!
Like the coffee and food, but dont like service. Not overly friendly.
Great coffee and amazing croissants!
Amazing food, amazing coffee, amazing staff! A vibrant addition to the Dartmouth scene
Went there near the closing time with high expectations for trying their well known croissants for the first time. On top of being expensive, the croissant was badly made and very old. Paid $11 for a bad croissants and an okay kombucha. Never going back again.
Great vibe, good coffee, come here for when I'm asked to bring good coffee because I know the coffee here is good and you can buy bags of the coffees here vary in pricing. You can also purchase other miscellaneous products as well.
Great coffee and food!
Not kidding that the croissants are the size of your face! Bloody delicious though
Very smooth tasting latte, very spacious seating area, and extremely friendly service. It's a great place to get some work done and have a great coffee. There's also a pizza place upstairs for when you get peckish!
The coffee is amazing and in all their baked goods they use just the right amount of butter. If you haven't been you definitely need to go.
Nobody in HRM can think of "tibs" without thinking of the most decadently delicious croissants made so inspirationally The provolone and prosciutto is definitely the ultimate meal to go while the Pain au Chocolate is just pure chocoholic indulgence. And the simple purity of the plain butter croissant is just perfection. For those so inclined, they have these cute little cookies big enough for frisbee competitions that anyone would make a border collie jump and snap for???????? They've been consistently great by keeping it real with real butter in every croissant and delicious coffee. Need a croissant fix? This is THE place????
Amazing coffee and croissants!
Delicious croissants. A little pricey for me but I treat myself occasionally.
Most addicting croissants ever, please never change.
The latte and the almond croissant are fantastic! The coffee is so flavorful on its own that it needs no additives (sugar, honey, etc). The almond croissant is great, more than enough for two people to share over a mid-morning coffee meet up. Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing and casual.
Really good baked goods, nice location parking is easy if your willing to walk a block or two. Their coffee however is very acidic, the the coffee is awful for this reason. The espresso I have noticed has also picked up in acidity over the last bit. Lattes and such don't seem to have this issue.
Not very friendly when we went. We went at 2pm and they were out of their specialty croissants that they are known for (and one of the reasons we went). Unfortunately none of us really enjoyed their coffee/latte/tea/cider.
If you can find a space this place is fantastic. It can be loud hot due to the people but the food and the coffee is amazing
I was, up until recently, a Two if by sea booster. Sadly, this afternoon's experience has tempered that considerably. Arriving on a busy Saturday afternoon, and ordering a latte and cappuccino to go. It's busy, so we wait. And wait. Okay, there is a latte up, great, grab that. Then... Much more waiting. Orders that were clearly placed after ours come up and are scooped, eventually, after notable back and forth about who ordered what... A little chaotic... Okay, it's a busy afternoon, we get that. Cappucino is nowhere in sight. We tell the barista "We ordered a cappucino...?" In response we are met with a clipped "Probably!" And then an unexpected rant about this being their first day, something about needing to visit their mother later that day, or somesuch. We left without a cappucino, which is likely for the best as it would likely have been tainted with malice. Sadly, this falls much below the service standard that TIBS had been built on. They clearly have some training and process engineering to do - first thought that comes to mind is something simple like writing the clients name on their cup. I hope they get it done soon, as this is an otherwise excellent cafe.
Good croissants, good latte & looked nice. Price on the high side. Two drinks & two croissants $18 + tip. Parking could be a challenge.
Always love going to TIBS . Croissants are yummy and love your Chia Lattes.. But I do find I get it luke warm alot of the time. Would recommend asking for it extra hot. Would definitely recommend.
Great coffee, even better croissants!
Great coffee and great snacks :)
Some of the best croissants around.
Always lovely staff and the coffee is local, never disappoints!!
If you like a good coffee and an amazing croissant, this is the place to get them
Super lovely spot! Great staff, sick jams, cozy atmosphere, and yummy treats! Can't go wrong here. Its especially nice in the summer when they open the big windows up to let the breeze in.
My go to coffee places for catching up with friends. Good food and drinks. Friendly service.
super yummy coffee, best chai lattes in HRM, awesome croissants. It's busy, clattery, and sometimes just plain old noisy, but so worth it. enjoy :)
The cinnamon rolls are amazing! I always show friends from out of town this place.
Best coffee and croissants in the city, great staff and nice atmosphere!
Great little spot. Gotta try it.
Love their chai latte and baked treats
The best coffee and croissants in Dartmouth!
Excellent amercanos. Get there EARLY if you want any of the baked goods, they sell out quick! I recommend the prosciutto and provolone croissant ????
Great coffee and the croissants are amazing.
Get there early on Saturday or Sunday for the best croissants!! My favourite cafe
Love the cappucino and accompanying art work
Great selection to choose from. Love the lattes and the kombucha.
Best coffee meet place for sure! Love the one in Halifax too, but better ambiance in Dartmouth :) Not even once have I ever had a rude staff member or ever been treated anything but like an honoured guest. I cry sometimes as they are out of croissants etc, after 2 pm it's pretty iffy. The cookies just are not my thing. When you make everything from scratch it tastes better and they go like wildfire, they aren't running a factory assembly line to keep up to us all... So call ahead, they might set one aside for you... :)
Strong Caffein! Must try!????????
Great mochas ! Even better croissants
Visited this place when my partner was in town, as many had recommended it and I wanted to check out this oft spoken of Dartmouth gem. Although not entirely disappointed, maybe it was too hyped up for me- the croissant did look huge and delicious but because it had meat and there were no remaining alternatives, I could not try it. My partner was not the biggest fan of it. I had some coffee, just a medium black, and I can't say it's anything astounding. It was not to my taste, but that's okay. What was somewhat frustrating was the lack of available space with a working outlet; my partner and I had been hoping to get some work done and had brought our laptops with us. The only available spot was at a cute table in a corner further away from the cafe serving area, past the stairs; this was totally cool as we spied an outlet nearby. Lo and behold, the outlet did not work. It was a bit of a bummer but, nonetheless, I'll be visiting again and seeking another experience of this Dartmouth spot. Hopefully it will go better the second time around.
This place is a hipster heaven. Go here if you get off on supporting small businesses, enjoy overpriced coffee and baked goods, and enjoy interacting with socially awkward workers.
best breakfast spot in Canada
Tried to grab a coffee, at the outdoor window. I was refused service because I was not wearing a mask...outside. I will no longer be buying anything from this business.
Great coffee baked goods are always fantastic. Their croissants are legendary!
When you want to treat a friend with something that reminds a window in Paris, order fresh croissant there and go for a coffee to the New Scotland Yard. It will make your day !
Always the best customer service and amazing workers that make you feel at home.
The Ethiopia espresso was fantastic by itself and the Tanzanian medium roast was really smooth on drip. I did not expect the pain au chocolat to be so soft, dense and crusty but it was amazing. Overall very good stuff.
Such a cute maritime themed cafe.
In house roasted coffee Anchored. Stoked.
Food was meh. And music was not to taste.
They had nothing but cookies. You share seating with a large table of atrangers. Very disappointed.
cinnamon buns are like crack!! once you have one you keep coming back for more1. there Ethiopian blend coffee is the best in Halifax Dartmouth
Been super disappointed with here lately, their baked goods have really gone downhill. Server was kind of rude when I brought back a scone as hard as a rock that I was looking to exchange for something else but he just said he can't guarantee anything fresher? and quickly handed me my money back. Not the greatest customer service, put me off coming back.
I don’t understand the reason behind the high ratings this place is having. I followed the reviews and it was quite misleading. In details, 1st the place itself is extremely small the tables are very close which makes a very uncomfortable crowded noisy experience. Secondly, Drinks nothing special here very plain tasting drinks something if you made yourself at home you’d dump in the garbage. Thirdly food or desserts what I tried is on the bad side now the difference that drinks are ok I’ll have it, if nothing better available at the moment but food is just not even ok it’s on the negative side of the meter. Finally staff are generally fine nothing extra, although they can be a little unprofessional behind the counter sometimes. So all in all never returning back. Hopefully more people will start reviewing because this fake 4+ star places are really lies and it’s not fair for growing businesses.
Love their lattes and croissants
Best croissants and cookies I've ever had.
Drinks are nothing more than just adequate and don't offer many customization options. This place is only famous for its croissants which I was only able to try once because they are always sold out when I arrive. (To their credit, the croissants *are* very good*) Drinks often take a while to make even when it's not busy.
Runs out of croissants and other food usually by 11:00am or mostly earlier and for what ever reason they all just stop baking anything new for the rest of the whole day and are opened till 6:00pm? Snooty practice, no thanks I'll pass.
TIBS has the best croissants I've ever had. You will not regret trying them! There's a croissant of the week, which is always a creative flavour, as well as butter, pain au chocolat, almond, and prosciutto & provolone. The coffee is good, and they have the standard cafe options. The prices are a little bit high, but worth it in my opinion.
Mmmmmm chocolate chip cookies the size of your face.
Croissants are the best known to man.
Love it
A local treasure; this is THE place to go for freshly made baked goods and coffee. The croissants are a meal unto themselves, but don't avoid the scones. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced. Go early before they sell out of something you want to try. Very limited seating available.
Great treats, will be back
Coffee is delicious, but last time I was there my friend wanted decaf and they told her they couldn't make her any because they needed a "special grinder" that they didn't have in, which sounds like a bit of a bullshit reason.
Great croissants, great tea, great spot overall!
Great coffee and great service. Nice place
Another famous Dartmouth institution in an absolutely lovely spot. Very few places I actively recommend for travellers or visitors as a "must go," but TIBS is one. …
Great coffee and snacks. Pizza is excellent.
I've given this place so many chances to redeem themselves. They consistently have rude, unprofessional employees, and the coffee is just ok. Two stars earned for decent croissants.
Hands down my favorite cafe! Great vibrant spot in downtown Dartmouth. Their croissants are a must try and come in a variety of flavors and fixings. They also have a unique "croissant of the week" every week! However the "croissant of the week" are only available on weekdays and not weekends. Also bagel, just get a croissant!
Great coffee, great food, great location, great atmosphere.
It's generally a good experience to come here. Though sometimes it can be pretty busy. The coffee's are pretty good though I must complain about the croissants. Especially the prosciutto croissants. They used to have prosciutto sticking out both ends. Now it looks like they're cutting back on their prosciutto not too sure if it's cuz of costs but we do like it when the prosciutto sticks at both ends knowing that you're not going to end up with only half a croissant with prosciutto. I know I'm complaining a little bit about this but honestly having prosciutto in the entire croissant really makes the big difference. I am now a lot picky which of which croissant I get.
This Dartmouth location is a classic. This place is a cornerstone that gave rise to a trendy movement in downtown Dartmouth. A must for all coffee and crossaint lovers Great solo Families love it, chalk and coloring books for kids Cozy atmosphere to read and get work done. Can be noisy during weekend mornings Seating available outside Very close to Dartmouth Ferry Terminal
Friendly service and delish muffins!????
Croissants, croissants, croissants, croissants and the chai tea latte is pretty above average. Do yourself a favour and get here today!!! Live in Halifax?!?! Whatever!!! Cross the bridge, this is the best place on Ochterloney, the best place in Dartmouth and the best place in the HRM. Proscuitto and provolone croissant will change your life, I promise!!!
A must coffee place when you visit Dartmouth.
Quality has slipped in recent memory, from the baked goods, to the disinterested staff. It might be just a case of resting on their laurels, because when they first opened there was no competition to what they offered. Now with any number of good coffee shops within a 5 minute walk that offer the same product either at a better price or better quality, it's really dropped off.
honest review: consistency : good big fun croissants served by mostly zombie staff You will see your order on the table for a long time before actually physically touching it, someone who hasn't done anything for 5 minutes will eventually give it to you if you're lucky. i'm never in a big rush for the first sip cause it's too hot, but I prefer my coffee to cool off on my own terms. for me it's like a car accident you can't turn away from, I just want to see how bad it can get. 2/5 for me. I'll put it this way, you get better customer service from literally any McDonald's
There bread and coffee is the best :) Bakery rules if you buy from them <3
Always a treat. The weekly specials are unique and the staff is lovely. If you're in Dartmouth and you haven't been to TIBS, please check it out. Worth it #Dartmouth #eatbutter #drip
I travelled all over Halifax trying to find a decent espresso only to discover it just 3 blocks from where we are staying in Dartmouth. Perfect espresso. Cinnamon buns the size of a ham, friendly Baristas, and a stunning Kees Vander Wessen with a custom etched glass side panel. I'm staying!
The croissants are delicious. I also had a decaf coffee (lame, I know) which tasted really good. The guy who served me was really nice too, which is an improvement from the past interactions I've had with the counter staff.
From Brooklyn and looking for your coffee fix in Halifax [area]? This is your place. And they have great fresh pastries too! Nice atmosphere, kid-friendly. Definitely the best coffee we've had in town so far; we've been trying every cafe that gets good reviews (Haligonians are a bit - lenient, maybe?), and this is the only one that we were completely satisfied with, coffee-wise.
Best croissants in town!!!
Best croissants, great coffe, well worth a stop
Great place for croissants and coffee. Parking can be very difficult because of this cafes popularity though. The food is good and the prices aren't too bad. The staff are very nice and cheerful. Overall a great cafe.
Croissants to die for! Friendly staff
Had an amazing jalapeno croissant, coffee was good. Nice looking place, very busy though.
Our group loved their drinks .. the low ratings is for poor service, attitude of staff and lack of cleanness of the washrooms no soap or papertowels in both .. owner's attention required
Amazing food, amazing drinks and amazing atmosphere but not quick. People on their way to work be warned, if you order an espresso drink you’ll most likely be waiting 15 mins or more.
Staff were extremely rude and condescending - does not make me want to return
I am sorry to say that I have to agree that the croissants were heavy and raw in the middle..your supplier either doesn't give them enough time to proof properly and/or needs to lower oven temperature and add baking time
The joy of being first. No, not my review, Two If By Sea itself. As one of the first of a new renaissance of businesses in downtown Dartmouth, Two If By Sea is both at least partly responsible for the surge in interest in the downtown, and has benefited greatly from it. There is no better hipster joint in either Downtown Dartmouth or Halifax for a cup of great coffee, and a pastry the size of a newborn, speaking as a non-hipster, that is. Their weekly pastry specials, especially, are a unique experience worth keeping tabs on them through facebook for, including wonderful sweet and savour combinations!
Good idea for a coffee shop. Missing Wow factor...I wish things would be different as it is only a place in old downtown of Dartmouth.
The coffee is good but ever time I have been here the staff is bordering on disgruntled... Too bad
Try their almond croissant.
Espresso and kid friendly.
Their cheddar and green onion biscuits may be one of the greatest creations.
Nice local cafe, with The Canteen above on the mezzanine...
If you are expecting flaky buttery Croissant you will be disappointed as I am.I would recommend LF bakery.
Delicious croissants!
I absolutely love the croissants here and always have, I've never been disappointed in them and crave them every time I think about them. As for the coffee, I'm pretty indifferent about Anchored Coffee, it's just not my type of roast/flavour profiles, but they have a following and I think they have put together a good product for those that like it. I'm not a regular to TIBS, but I should be because I live in the area. We make a visit every few months to get some croissants but never have been inclined to come more than that because of the counter staff, frankly they are consistently difficult to deal with and have been for many years. There is an air of apathy from the staff when you arrive, and incredibly (especially for the level of product them make) an extreme lack of excitement or enjoyment about the product. If you follow their Instagram, the posts are exciting, fun and showcase their great product. There is a disconnect between they projected attitude and what is actually going on in the cafe that the owners should be addressing. Some of the other reviews talk about the place being too hipster, but when you go get a pizza upstairs or a beer next door both those business would be considered hipster and the staff is amazing and welcoming, so it really is an issue with the staff at TIBS. Will i go back, of course, but never more than every few months to get a croissant fix, but i would frequent more often if the apathetic culture change there. There have been many baristas in HRM that have lost their jobs recently, I'm sure there is a lot of talent out there ready to be hired.
The chocolate croissants sell out fast! Get there before 11am
Take out
Seems to attract a trendy crowd with kids. Coffee okay. Croissants 2nd best in HRM. 1st is The Old Apothecary with the chocolate almond croissant, best of two worlds.
Chocolate croissants as big as your head (if your head is smaller than average, haha).
Busy place, great coffee and delacacies.
They're incredible here. The food is amazing and the staff are fantastic.
Very nice cafe with the best fresh croissants in the city. They sell out of some flavors pretty quickly, but all of the options are delicious. Only complaint is that pricing is a bit on the expensive side, but it's well worth it!
Great atmosphere. Jam packed on the weeke nd
Terrible experience, very loud and unclean.
Cool vibe
Great coffee, fab cookies ????
great pastries and really great coffee. You can't get better coffee in downtown Dartmouth and it really is a nice place to check out if you like bold flavors, and powdered sugar.
Quaint cafe with a by the slice pizza place on the second floor. Products are baked in house. Delicious!
A great place to drink a nice Café
By far the best croissants! Very great coffee and the staff is so great. It is usually busy so go early and get what you need as they sell out pretty quickly. It's so delicious and fantastic staff. Check it out for sure !
They have fantastic pastries and great coffee. It is a cozy spot.
1. out of food 2. no soap in the bathroom 3. play bad music WAY too loud 4. my latte is tepid -- not hot 5. dirty floor needs to be swept or vacuumed.
does eating two provolone prosciutto croissants a day cure covid? im on my way to finding out. beauttty spot all around.
Worst croissants I have ever had. They tasted like brioches... actually it’s not a croissant at all. I also ordered a chai latte that was lukewarm. This happened to another customer a few minutes after me. My boyfriend and I ordered bagels and it came with mini philadelphia packs... like....come on. I was really disappointed cause I had heard rave reviews about the place. The best thing about going there was the ferry ride, the decor of the cafe and the coffee in itself thats not so bad but far from great.
Pricey with pretty incompetent staff, like, get some table numbers dudes
Talk about energy - this place is buzzing with it. It's a hip coffee joint in downtown Dartmouth. There's a certain kind of caffeine-fuelled energy that is unique to a good coffee shop and this place is no different. Friendly staff, quick service, decent number of tables considering the size.
Great coffee. You aren’t allowed to enter the store at this point but the coffee is still great!
Awesome almond croissants ! :)
Dartmouth is lucky to have great little coffee shops. We come here regularly. They have great croissants. I really enjoy their chai lattes. Staff are always friendly. I think they should set up a long bar stool type table with power cords for those that sit there for long lengths and do their work on lap tops, then they aren't taking up tables for 2-4 seats.
Great Nova Scotiaian Crossants. Not flaky as French style but mighty hearty.
Pre-Ordered for me and my wife and it was ready when I showed up the next day. The staff thought it was funny but it’s one of the things we miss from Dartmouth.
Awesome croissants holy moly!! Forgot to take a picture because I ate it too quickly oops. Super nice atmosphere and range of drink options !
Great coffee but they always run out of food. Need to make a change.
Time to update. Still has the general air of snobbery from the staff, which might just be dissatisfaction with their life choices. Also continually out of baked goods.. which I've concluded is part of their business model in order to make it feel more 'exclusive', but honestly just makes most people more likely to go elsewhere.
This little café completely deserves 5 stars for the wonderful food (and by food I mean croissants) and for the friendly staff. This is a regular spot for me for coffee dates with friends or just to hang out with a good book on my own, the experience is always fantastic. I would advise getting there pretty early in the morning if you're craving croissants as they go pretty quickly. As an added bonus they also have really cute aprons and I love Dartmouth t-shirts. Doesn't matter if you're a local or a tourist TIBS is a must try location in Dartmouth.
A tad over-priced for my liking, but we'll worth the splurge on occasion!
Little noisy but ok. Food awesome..
It's really just all about the croissants.
Best Hot Apple Cider I've ever had.
Bring a friend and split a giant chocolate filled croissant. Your heart will be happy.
Great place to meet up for business or socialize. Croissants to die for. Pretty good Organic java. Always busy. Friendly place & great service.
Peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. Staff are friendly, service is prompt, and their products are fresh and delicious!
Best chocolat croissant I've ever tasted! Kudo for that! If you're around, it's a must!!
My favourite place to eat in downtown Dartmouth. Try their chocolate croissant and some Propeller root beer!
Great location, nice - if not a little too cozy - atmosphere. But, unfortunately for a café, a latté that was more warm cup of milk than coffee with frothed milk added.
The best croissants in Dartmouth/Halifax. My wife and I constantly get some on Saturday mornings. Highly recommend the "Pain au Chocolat" croissant. Basically a Nutella-filled croissant.
Fantastic place, staff have always been friendly each and every time I have been in.Great coffee and delicious muffins and croissant.
The prosciutto croissant is to die for!
Awesome coffee and good place to sit. The shots seemed to lack a bit of complexity compared to their smaller location in Halifax which could be due to serving a higher volume.
Two If By Sea will always be one of my favorite cafés to get a Laté at when I find myself in Dartmouth.
Quick service and quite simply the best croissant I've ever had.
Awesome baked goods, decent coffee what more could you ask for.
Best in Dartmouth! Great coffee and the baked goods looked amazing! I'll be back
These are massive! Also great staff!
Went in today 6 months from my last review and the service has become horrible. We received half our order and then had to wait 20 minutes for the rest of it. Best croissants! Real butter and a flavour of the day every day. Go early because they usually sell out by the early afternoon.
Fantastic local establishment with amazing croissants! That said, plan ahead as they get very busy and may sell out of the croissant you are looking for. Always busy and can be a little loud, so come early if you want to get a table.
Honestly it's a cool cafe, the croissants are decadent and the coffee has great flavour...but the douchbags (female and male) that work there do not care about their customers, no smiles, no thank yous, sour attitudes & blazé expressions. Dude I get it, you work in a cafe and you have a nose ring, life's tough but maybe you could smile to the people who contribute to your measly pay cheque.
Best croissants I've ever had
Best coffee in Halifax and staff was helpful
Delicious chocolate croissants. Coffee is way too acidic for me however and staff is pretty apathetic. Seemed like they hated their jobs the day I was there.
Great local spot. Coffee is fantastic, service quick and nice atmosphere# kid friendly too
Great place for coffee meetings.
Great food... Staff are chatty with each other and slow ... But well worth the wait
There is literally nothing I dislike about Two If By Sea. The atmosphere, food, and coffee are all top tier. Only a few things in life can drag me out of bed before 8am; and the Prosciutto Provilone Croissant is most definitely one of them. Between that and the excellent service I will continue being a Two If By Sea fanboy for as long as they're around.
Excellent Chai lattes and croissants
Butter butter and more tasty butter in their delicious baking...and my favourite place for a cappuccino
Amazing lattes and even better pastries!
One of our favorite places to grab a coffee , their croissants are to die for !
Great place with awesome staff, fantastic food and a lively atmosphere.
Perfect! With three kids under 10, this is a great destination for a fun break! Americanos, ginger beer, and ANY of their croissants, cookies and scones are a great treat for the whole family. We love the bacon and prosciutto croissants... so savoury! The sandwich shop upstairs has incredibly different options, try the breakfast pizza!, We have always been served with a smile and great personalities. It is small, and gets crowded, but they have lots of places to sit, and when it's nice, their are plenty of sitting areas within that neighbourhood to sit and people watch. From the local artwork on the walls, to the fresh flowers on the tables, this is a must try for anyone visiting or who has not tried yet!
. Hmmmm coffee, don't need to say more than that. Open before 8 am with plenty of parking on the street at that time of the day
Awesome croissants and excellent staff
Usually always a great experience but unfortunately last time I went, there croissants that are usually to die for were rock hard this time, bought 2 and had to throw them out. Maybe next time I guess
Coffee is delicious! Ginger cookie is do yummy!! Service was good too (but order was "to go")!
Croissants the size of my head.
Fresh baked goods, soooo delicious!
This place had a lot of heart. I found the ambiance to be very charming. Everything was mostly decadent. The service was good for the most part but the waitress was a bit tired. I would have rated this higher, but my water glass was dirty.
honestly some of the best service and oat milk latte I've had. !!
Was so glad to finally have a good cappuccino! It was very tough to find good coffee in the Maritimes.
Good coffee, decent baked goods.
Nice cafe
Prosciutto and provolone for the win!
Busy little spot. Love the atmosphere I just wish they had a few GF options.
Great coffee, hipster place for sure.
Best damn crossant this side of Paris. But no good for digital nomads, slow wifi and no power points.
Great coffee and the baked goods are amazing.
Im confused. I went here a year ago and the barristas were no nonsense deadpans who evidently hated both their jobs and the rest of the world. Now its cool though, complete 180.
Top notch 3rd wave coffee shop. They serve anchor coffee which is roasted around the corner. Deadly pastries.
First time there and the espresso was fantastic.
Super delicious, a must to try
My girlfriend took me to Two If By Sea for the croissants while we were visiting from Winnipeg since she had been recommended to try the place a few weeks earlier, and the croissants are by far the best I have ever had anywhere. I had the provolone and parmesan croissant and it was worth every penny of the $5 I paid for it. I also grabbed a plain croissant before leaving for a snack later that day and it was also delicious! If I'm ever back in Halifax or Dartmouth again, I'll be going back for sure!
Great coffee and baked goods, but get there early on the weekend if you want one of the amazing croissants!
Love this place! Definitely the go-to spot for coffee in downtown Dartmouth.
The croissants are everything. Coffee is also amazing.
Breakfast pizza was awesome!
Great food and coffee but on my last few visits even early in the morning (930 weekend) were sold out of several items, has happened a few times now only reason for 4 stats will keep coming back
Amazing food and atmosphere. Busy but not a long wait and not chaotic. Chocolate croissants are amazing. Food there is super rich and may seen slightly expensive at first but is worth it. Portion sizes are great. If you cant eat it all the people at front will pack it up to go. There drinks/coffee are a good different for people sick of the same old same old
Love the atmosphere here. The coffee and treats are delicious. Try to get there early enough to get one of their cousants.
Amazing pastries but coffee needs improvement.
Cool place if you live by... Will not cross the bay to go back tough... Was ok at best
I adore this café. A great atmosphere with plenty of light. The staff are so upbeat.
Finest coffee in the East.
Nice atmosphere but croissant was not a croissant
Great location, friendly staff that really pay attention to their customers and good coffee and wifi.
Great atmosphere, the embodiment of hipster. Coffee is good but not as good as Java Blend. Baked goods are great.
Took the wife and kids there for the first time. We got there at 1pm, store closes at 3pm, they were sold out of EVERYTHING except energy bars. Never again
Great parties. Coffee is okay.
Prosciutto & Provolone Croissant is amazing
amazing croissants!!! the best on this planet actually!! they're normally all sold out by 11am!!
Great friendly staff and the butter croissants are amazing!
Love their chai lattes
Best Americano in town! They also have excellent croissants and the staff is fantastic!
First stop last week. My co-worker and I were in the city looking for a great espresso. The staff was extremely friendly, and after told them it was our first time out gave us a great recommendation! The Boston Creme Croissants! The ambiance was very relaxing, warm. I was impressed to see a staff member clean the sugar-milk station about every 2-3 minutes. It's reassuring when staff take pride in the cleanliness of their work environment! Overall, great first experience out and am excited see if Halifax's location can measure up.
One of the best croissants I have had in a long time! Fantastic place.
Fav coffee shop in Halifax/Dartmouth
Always a favourite when I'm in Dartmouth!
I don't understand why the croissants are so popular. They are dense and tough. Size doesn't always matter. I do go here regularly for a good coffee and a bagel from the Bagel place on on Wyse Road. The location is convenient for me.
We ran to this place in the freezing wind to have some fika (an old swedish tradition of basically having coffee and a pastry). Great coffee, huge cookies - epic win.
Best croissants I ever had. Excellent coffee. Great service every time.
The food at this place is amazing. The music? Not so much. Standing in line with my 3 year old listening to overly loud rap and every second word being the N-word. Trust me I love rap in my spare time without my kid but in a cafe, at 8am for all of Dartmouth to come in and grab some good food the last thing you want is that kind of music. I felt so awkward because not only was there a child but there were two other customers in their 60's and you could just feel the room cringe from the music.
$3 for a large drip coffee is too steep for window service. I don't think I'll be back any time soon.
Great west coast style cafe. Tasty treats. Coffee is roasted in-house by owner. There is also a nice sandwich shop upstairs.
Most dense croissant. Incredible treat. Service wasn't great but whatever, not reason enough to not go back.
Huge and delicious croissant. Probably one of the bests I’ve ever had.
Really enjoyed the coffee and the cookie I got. Love the atmosphere and it's my go to for any time I'm in the area.
Somewhat indifferent service. If you like your coffee served with a bit of ‘attitude’, you might love this place. Both times I was there they were out of cream, spoons etc at the counter but the tip button was quite prominent leaving me with a feeling that that’s what matters more to them than the actual service. Trendy atmosphere but actually I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the nearby Coffee Matters Cafe much more, where the manager was full of Newfie friendliness and charm.
Fabulous giant croissants can feed 2! Other baked goods are great though baked on the same sheets as savoury scones, so an onion aftertaste or indigestion. Not an issue with the scones. Arrive early for croissants, especially the weekly special, they sell out early. Very busy Saturday mornings.
Staff were friendly and the place was nice. We had regular brewed coffee (not good) and plain croissants which were tough to chew and actually greasy inside. Bit of a let down.
Great cafe! Nice atmosphere, excellent coffee and pastries, etc.
Who can resist TIBS croissants?
good croissant with prosciutto and a delicious latte
Good coffee that gets overwhelmed by cliquey/unexcited staff.
Very good espresso.
One of my favourite cafes on the dark side! I used to bus over half an hour for a croissant but I recently moved nearby and pop in more frequently. Love the croissants... The provolone & proscuttio is a piece of heaven and I look forward to the weekly specials. Love the coffee, never had a bad roast however had many a latte that tasted GREAT but were not quite hot enough.. Despite waiting for awhile. I'm sure they'd remake them butttttt it's usually so busy that you don't want to ask... Plus, the staff are hit or miss. The service improved greatly after the creepy manager got the heave ho but is still sometimes pretty... Meh. There's a super nice dude with long brown hair but the rest hardly smile. Maybe I'm not cool enough. None the less, I keep going back. The coffee is great and the baked goods a must try.
Great specialty coffee and baked goods made on site. The croissants are so big you're going to want to split one with a friend.
Good coffee, pastries are huge and delicious. It's a popular place that can get crowded.
The coffee is on point. Can even great a za upstairs at Yeah Yeahs. Do yourself a favor and try one of the croissants ????????
Honestly I believe one won’t find a better croissant anywhere else! Get there early! The chocolate is my favourite! They are large enough to share...but you probably won’t want to!
Customer service here is always subpar. It's rare to get a smile out of the counter staff. If you like the style of croissants here, I recommend it! Most days, I would rather give my business to other cafes in the area.
TIBS (as the locals call it) is famous for their croissants, and rightly so. They're huge! You could definitely split one with someone and be fully satisfied, but I don't recommend it...they're too yummy to share. I've tried the chocolate (my favourite), almond (also delicious), and prosciutto and cheese (a savoury fav). They also have a 'croissant of the week', so there's always something new to try. Great interior and location; free wi-fi; friendly staff; very clean; kid-friendly; local success story. It lost a star because they tend to sell out of their best baked goods by 1pm (super unfortunate for afternoon clientele...I can't understand why they don't produce more, because it's obviously in demand), they aren't open in the evenings, and I'm not a fan of their cookies.
Good coffee, but the croissants and other bake god dies are awesome.
Best coffee in the cities - maybe in the Maritimes! Staff are always on their game, atmosphere is A+, baked goods are treasures. Everything a boutique coffeeshop might hope to be and more!
Best coffee shop in the city!
I've only had a chance to go once so far, but it was the best espresso I've had in Nova Scotia. Serves coffee from Anchored, the roaster around the corner. The espresso was a modern fairly light and nuanced roast from Mexico, lots of well-developed flavours, sweet and just the right amount (i.e. barely) bitter, great mouth feel, just excellent. Environment was comfortable—sometimes the music is quiet or absent (my personal favourite) and sometimes they decided to turn it up too loud. I bought a bag of single-origin (Mokonisa) beans there and it too is brilliant for pourover. Anchored and this its café are suddenly my new favourites in N.S.
My favorite place for coffee and croissantso... nicknamed butter
That prosciutto croissant brought me back from the dead.
Consistantly unfriendly.
Their croissant is ginormous and delicious. I highly recommend people swing by!
Really nice! I had their Jasmine green tea and it was delicious.
Great coffee shop!
This is a very trendy cafe and I always recommend it to out-of-towners. It's a great staple of downtown Dartmouth. The croissants and coffee are what make it special. I personally don't like their coffee but most coffee connoisseurs absolutely do. The only knocks I have against it are that the staff are never very friendly. They get the job done, but I don't think in all the times I've been there, that a single staff member has smiled at me. It really bothers me, but not enough to keep me away.
Staff seems unhappy. Coffee is overpriced. Croissants are dry.
im not gonna lie, this place is aesthetically pleasing, and they have good customer service, just I recommend not getting the scones bc they are one the dry side and a lack lustre. however , I definitely would recommend other stuff.
Best butter croissant west of France. Didn't even bother to have it heated. Fresh and yummy, although might not be considered a healthy breakfast. I'll be back.
Banned for not being hip enough
Good coffee and amazing huge croissants... bring an appetite
Overall if you're looking to get large sized delicious cookies and crosaints with delicious coffee then this is the place to go. Definitely one of the go to landmarks in Dartmouth now.
Amazing hot chocolate !!!
Easily my favourite coffee shop in all of Nova Scotia. Highly recommend trying the chocolate croissant!
Great coffee and great baked goods
One of the best iced mochas I’ve ever had, and I have a light addiction to their chocolate croissants. Deadly!
Best Chai latte in town!!
Love this place The almond croissant are my favorite
Amazing quality coffee and super friendly baristas
Good coffee. Amazing atmosphere!
Amazing chocolate pastry things
Amazing place so tasty
Great cafe with a cool neighbourhood vibe. People rave about the chocolate croissants but I've always loved the scone with the cheese and scallions. Really good. Best to go early. They can sometimes sell out of pastries by the afternoon.
Great staff food and coffee. It is busy during peek times, but that's to be expected at a good cafe.
Amazing croissants!
Nice cafe, limited seating and gets pretty busy.
Best coffee in the East!
Wanted to check this cafe for a while. The staff are quite friendly and pleasant to talk to (5 stars to them)???????? Got a chocolate filled croissant and coffee. Didn't expect get my $5 coffee get poured from a carafe. The croissant had a generous size, but too sweet, and the filling had a milky color with a weird texture. Didn't feel great after eating it.
Always find the staff friendly although often rushed which is understandable given how busy the cafe is. The croissants are always a hit with guests. If I were to criticize anything it would be that the croissants are on the massive side. But I've never had a problem finding someone to eat the other half.
The croissants are amazing!
A real gem of Dartmouth. The baked goods are amazing. Can be busy on the weekends, but, the food is totally worth it!
TIBS is 100% one of the reasons we moved to Nova Scotia, ha! If you have not been here, you are missing out. (Read that again). My husband's favourite croissant is the prosciutto and provolone, while I am a die hard fan of the almond or chocolate. I've also had the lemon curd one, which could become a regular and I would not be upset. These are not your everyday croissant - I'm talking 2lb of flakey buttery deliciousness. I don't find it a coincidence that they put them in a 5lb paper bag, haha! Most of the staff are really friendly; the chai latte and apple cider are also really good. Such a quaint little place where you always feel welcome. You should go!
Love this place. They make the best cheddar green onion scones ever!
This is a great coffee bar friendly and great music.
Great croissants but no excuse to be sold of out if you know its a common occurrence. Make more and discount them before close if you're worried about waste. Cant recommend since its a luck of the draw if they have them or not.
Really friendly staff! Busy on a Saturday morning, line up to get your coffee & croissant and pick a corner to sit and relax. The chocolate croissant was HUGE, and the latte was flavourful. It was a lovely way to start the day off in Dartmouth :)
The croissants were amazing but it was very loud.
A must go every trip! Croissants the size of your face!
Had a short lunch here with friends from Halifax. Good baked items & hot drinks, nice rustic cozy atmosphere.
everybody's favorite little coffee shop. Great croissants, too.
Best cafe in the HRM ... the croissants , cookies , & scones are to die for!
Quaint, local, and way too noisy. Very high hipster to normal person ratio.
Amazing chocolate croissants!!!
Never enough of the croissant of the week made (also, today is Thursday NOT FRIDAY and they told me when I called it was the last day of the week for the themed croissant, when they advertise Monday thru Friday as the "week").... Only select people seem to be able to preorder... Snarky attitude the last five or six times I've called or gone there which has really turned me off going as much as I would like to. The two stars are only because whatever baked goods I do get (from time to time) are absolutely delicious... Pure buttery decadence.
Nice atmosphere, good staff and coffee!
The baked goods are simply amazing! If you love butter, you have hit the jackpot.
Very good coffee and of course the legendary chocolate stuff pain-au-chocolat.
Very nice coffee shop with great vibes. The location is a bit of though
Seams like customer service is slipping :( use to love this place, I moved back to the neighborhood & was looking forward to once again frequenting this local business. Standards have changed, to much milk in my cappuccino & the crossant was undercooked, didn't finish ether. A mistake once in a while is totally ok, but seams like the customers are a bother to staff, as if you're interrupting their personal party with your patronage.
Stopped by today when we were out for a walk. As expected there were no seats available so we took it to go. I wasn’t overly pleased with the taste of the almond milk cappuccino but it was okay. I wont be getting it again. In terms of the pastries, you can never go wrong with a chocolate croissant. Only wish would be that there was more seating!
Always excellent, and the prosciutto croissants are delicious
Great coffee and staff. Never enough chocolate croissants.
Decent atmosphere, decent coffee. Staff is friendly and helpful. This is definitely not Tim Hortons
Iced coffee was bitter and the iced tea was very weak. I ordered a large which was the same size as a small somehow. It had a good environment but that's about it.
The pastry’s are very well done. This place is always busy for a reason! Each time I recommended this cafe to a friend it got rave reviews!
Great little cafe in St Johns Newfoundland. We had a very nice lunch of seafood chowder and shrimp au gratin. Good price too. Very cosy and family feel. Very friendly.
This cafe has the best croissant in the city! I love their pan au chocolat! It is my go to everytime I visit Halifax. Their coffee is pretty good as well. You can never go wrong if you visit this establishment. During the pandemic, this cafe follows the provincial guidelines. They promote good hand hygiene, limited capacity, and social distancing.
Pastries are to die for
Prosciutto provolone croissant and a flat white. Breakfast of champions.
It’s an “okay” cafe’, but was expecting a little more. My chai latte was great and my husband enjoyed his hot chocolate. I was disappointed in the amount of dessert items offered, but settled on the almond croissant which has a lot of good reviews, but I found it to be hard and did not enjoy it. Next time I will try to come earlier to see if more desserts are offered.
Good coffee, good food too
Always great, but have noticed the croissants are somewhat overdone recently.
The best coffee shop in HRM!
Very nice place with nice staff. Great spot for meetups and chilling
yumm croissants yumm anchored coffee
Food and coffee is always lovely, great atmosphere
Nice cafe, friendly staff and tasty food.
I didn't like the place, and coffee wasn't good.
One of my favorite places
One croissant is a full meal. Must try the provolone and proscuitto
The croissants are great but the whole menu is over priced and it's incredibly loud inside (this might be your thing but just an FYI in case you're looking for a quiet cafe spot to chill).
Great coffee and AMAZING croissants.
Good coffee and great croissants!
I am not a coffee drinker, so Ali come here with my coffee friends and have the best Chia latte in the city!
Great whole bean coffee selection from Anchored. Their baked goods are also to die for, definitely recommend this gem.
The staff are wounderfull and the c.o.w is alwase such a surprise!
Don't understand what the fuss is about. The coffee is OK, the pastry is made for giants. Bigger doesn't mean better. Way too greasy and lacking in quality. Besides not being able to find a parking spot.
Sweet spot. Tried the prosciutto and provolone croissant. So delicious!
Awesome fair trade coffee and great service. Prices aren't terrible either.
Breakfast
Poor quality coffee. Could’ve just been an off day.
Excellent coffee.
Best croissants I've ever had, cookies are also great (and ginormous). Serving staff is polite and friendly. Coffee is great, although I mostly stick to Americanos so I can't comment on the cappuccinos etc. This place is often busy, so it's tough to get a table sometimes; if the weather is nice, get your order to go and walk a few blocks down the street to the harbour. Watch the ferries and ships go by as you enjoy your buttery flakey delight!
Some of the best coffee in downtown Dartmouth. And if you haven't tried them, get one of the croissants, to die for.
Best Americano and Yeah Yeah's pizza upstairs. Always walk away with 2lbs of beans too.
Great atmosphere, delicious coffee, Awesome croissants!!
Amazing croissants. Only complaint is that they run out super fast. Came in one day at 8:30am and they were nearly all gone. Came back on our last day before heading to Toronto to grab some and there were none left. Seems like this is a frequent problem based on the other reviews. Remedy seems pretty straightforward- make more?
Fun local café. Their coffee is more on the bitter side, but that's a question of taste...
Great place to stop for coffee and treat. Great ambiance and love their treats. Especially the croissants.
To quote a friend who has visited many continents and loves French culture, "I found a close second to TIBS croissants... In Singapore". So yeah... Check the diet, eat the croissants, transcend earth.
Amazing latte and chocolate croissant was best I've ever had!
Staple of Downtown Dartmouth, Two if by Sea never disappoints, with some of the most fancy croissants in town, and some of the best quality coffee to enjoy with it!
Coffee was V.G. My friend had the chocolate croissant. It was humongous & delish.
Cute cafe, would appreciate gluten free/vegan options if possible!
Best lattes I've had in the city. Halifax, or Dartmouth.
Great little spot for a delicious coffee and treat. Fantastic service and a comfortable atmosphere.
An awesome place. You must visit. Try the pizza upstairs or the croissants downstairs and always excellent coffee. Very cool place.
This friendly white interior coffee place has great croissants and a lively busy but relaxed atmosphere. I got a latte and read for two hours without interruption or issue.
We headed here after reading about it in the CAA 2018 summer mag - they did a piece on Halifax and included a trip across to Dartmouth. Coffee was good and the apple cinnamon croissant was divine.
Trendy coffee shop. Nice selection of sweets.
Best croissants. Excellent spot to settle in with your laptop.
Chai latte is amazing (the cold one too) the croissants and the scones are to die for!
Great lattes, amazing croissants. Occasionally the staff could use a little personality. The HFX location did have better tasting croissants, but it closed. A shame really.
Best Iced Mocha I have EVER tasted. The croissants are to die for.
Great coffee and best croissants anywhere. Unfortunately it's always crowded and they seem to always run out of the weekly special unless you get there early.
Great way to come out of lockdown
Amazing latte and chocolate croissant. The croissant took me two days to finish, it was gigantic!
The guy taking the drink order seemed very unimpressed to be there. The lady who gave me my latte was nice! Downside - I’m in the car driving and drink a huge mouthful of dairy. I don’t have an allergy thank god, but I specially asked for oat. I called back and on the phone they were pleasant and said to come back. I go to give them the incorrect order and to get the freshly made oat milk latte, and the girl just started at me, took back my latte as if I were putting her out and passed me my new one. The sleeve on the cup said “sorry,” which I thought was nice, but this girl looked annoyed. I asked if everything is ok because she literally didn’t say one word to me, and again she said nothing but looked at the guy beside her (who took my order) and he said yes it’s good. There was no I’m sorry that happened, I hope it wasn’t an allergy, etc. The latte was pretty good though! I just hate going somewhere and feeling unwelcome or a bother. I would rather go to a more friendly cafe next time!
Great drip coffee and they're known for croissants. They were huge, and delicious.
Amazing croissants filled with chocolate
Friendly and kind. Were able to buy through the window as restrictions start to lift. The croissants... they are monsters.. and so full of butter. Deadly good. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone wanting a treat in downtown Dartmouth.
Great lattes and baked goods
Service
The coffee is great and the croissants are unreal. They have a very cool space - bright, clean, homey and fresh.
Great coffee and great eats, never disappointed!!
Prosciutto and provolone croissant - 2000... 500 calories but great - I need a nap.
Best in Halifax/Dartmouth
Meal type
Fancy place and pricy too.
Nice Cafe/pizza place. I had a filled cheese/tomato croissant and a hot apple cider, both of which were nice. ????
Delicious iced latte and pain au chocolat! And lovely service :)
He might be gone but his distasteful essence lingers :-/ the expression on the co-owner's face says it all, this is the attitude you'll be met with here. Someone PLEASE open a really good place in Dartmouth! I can't be the only one sick of these limited subpar baked goods and coffee spots.
Great coffee things and dear god the size of the chocolatines. Lovely place and they have a wall kids can colour on.
You will never find a more delicious almond croissant.
Very nice atmosphere, not too noisy...
Croissants are a meal in themselves. Check this place out for breakfast
Great coffee and I always love the amazing chocolate croissant
Sweet little place. Great coffee. Very hip.
No croissant is good enough to warrant the terrible customer service that TIBS has become known for. Their staff presents with a consistent apathy that makes you wonder what you did to make their day so terrible? You’d think with all their previous personnel issues (Google it) that management would be more tuned in to their company culture. They just reopened the interior of their shop (but no seating) after blocking the sidewalk for the last 1.5 years with a mismanaged to-go window. If you’re looking to be greeted with a scowl for an overpriced latte or very acidic coffee, a croissant that’s likely sold out, and no where to sit…then maybe TIBS is for you. But there are much better coffee shops in the area, I’d suggest venturing to one of those.
You can ignore the cute & cozy shop & focus solely on the quality of the goods & I would still rate Two If a 5/5. The croissants are delectable & the coffee offerings are amazing. If you're looking for a cozy spot to catch up, curl up, or even strike up new friendships this is the place for you.
Great croissants and "pains au chocolat". They definitely use real butter! Really good treat if you've five for a long run or bike ride...
Great coffee and delicious baked goods!
Delicious baked goods and coffee.
One of my favorite cafes in the city. Great coffee, baked goods, and atmosphere. Me only complaint is that sometimes the baristas aren't as friendly as they could be
Chocolate chip cookies are amazing!
Local, fresh baked goods, great atmosphere, busy and delicious!
Coffee is pretty much bang on and all the baked goods are delicious. My fav are the cinnamon rolls.when available ..Staff are great all the way round. A Dartmouth gem! Not quite same since Zane left, sorry.
Good coffee. Popular spot
Great croissants but not a huge fan of the coffee.
We missed out on the pan au chocolate (which is the recommended item to get) so we were bummed. It was 10 AM and apparently they were sold out by 9 AM (perhaps make some more?) We did get a croissant instead, and the outside was so hard that it was difficult to eat. Nothing like a soft, chewy croissant most are used it, it was plain hard. It might have been a day old or maybe they just like to make it that way, but it certainly wasn't a croissant were we hoping for.
Best croissants on the East Coast. Come early or off peak times to avoid the wait (but the wait is worth it)
Gigantic, delicious cookies, and very tasty, rich coffee!
The go to location in HRM for croissants. And of course coffee. Great vibe.
This is a pretty neat little place with some great local products, in fact uf it had not been for the oppressivly loud music keeping my friend and I from our conversation over coffee i would have gone as high as 4.5 stars. Good to pick up and leave, not so much to stay.
mmmmmmmm everything there is awesome. vive le beurre!
Stopped by today for a quick coffee and some of their famous croissants and baked goods. We were greeted at the counter by a smiling staff member telling us that "this is all we have". Pointing to a lone croissant on the counter. This is a restaurant that is known for its great baked goods and has no food available?? I'm shocked. Second time I have encountered this. I used to love this place. But sorry, I can't go back if this is what it's become.
Long line for ok coffee. Restaurant needed a good cleaning.
Great coffee, always buy a bag of beans to bring back to the UK. It would be nice to see the acoustics improved as it's hard to have a conversation and 2 of my orders were mixed up do to this and the music that is too loud over the cashier's head.
Good quality. But no options for dairy free folks
Coffee and croissants can't be beat!
Service was better than usual. Pastries have changed recipes and are not as good as they once were. If I can make one suggestion to this business it would be to change the counter set / line up approach. To place and order, pay them wait to the far side (lack of room) then have to cross back through the line up to collect your hot beverage because the barista makes every thing to the left of the line up while you pay and exit to the right, has always confused and frustrated me. Just one man's opinion.
Best coffee shop in Dartmouth, excellent espresso and buttery croissants that could feed a small family.
Pleasant americanos. Love the atmosphere. Very open space with adequate seating. Large windows that fold open allowing heaps of fresh air in. I wish more people would sit with me at the large table. Maybe I'm too scary :)
Great coffee, greater croissants ????.
Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great chai latte and pastry.
Coffee is good for the price, mixed drinks and sweets are a little pricey, bagels are good! Recommend for the classic coffee and bagel, worth a try for the mixed drinks.
Me and my friend visited after hearing about their fancy croissants. Its a very basic cafe. The coffee was good but the croissant was terrible. It was hard and didn't flake like a proper croissant. It tasted like it was made with oil or margarine instead of butter. Really unimpressive.
This place is phenomenal! It has that relaxed vibe that really goes a long way in making your day better. The chocolate croissants are a must, but everything else is quite tasty. When I feel down and need a place to recharge, this is the first stop on my list. I highly recommend it!
Hands down favourite café in the HRM. You don't know joy until you've had a pain au chocolat from TIBS.
Great coffee and unbelievable pastry!
Incredible treats and service
Hard and crunchy croissants. Attitude of the staff was rude. They were out of almost all baked goods by 11:30am.
Atmosphere and the cafe is nice but the croissants we ordered that day were hard, kind of disappoint as we went there just for famous must eat croissants
Coffee is delicious
This place has the best mocha I have ever tasted in my life and the baked goods are delicious beyond compare. If you are looking for delicious coffee, look no further.
I very much enjoy this cafe croissants are delicious However finding the window closed today which of course I understand it is cold I had my dog. I asked if he could wait but i also understand dogs can’t go in . Food for thought …when it’s not busy and there is not anyone in the restaurant it would’ve been nice if somebody could have offered to take my order at the door so I didn’t have to leave my dog on the sidewalk this might be something only dog owners would understand. As a result I could not purchase anything there today.
Great coffee and pastries. The bortions are reaally big
Unfriendly service from the guy that works here. Everyone else was nice and friendly, plus they have excellent cookies
my favourite cafe in all of HRM. their baked goods and coffee are worth every penny.
Love this place, always delicious, friendly and an absolute treat. Expensive, but worth it.
Best coffee shop in Halifax metro area.
Let's start off with the positives. The decor is nice. Seating is generally available and staff are nice. Location is pretty good as well part of the downtown core. Price was also pretty reasonable. The less good. The coffee itself was pretty meh. The overall flavour was of bitterness and burning. The scone ordered tasted pretty stale.
Very nice cafe! Food was good!
A vibrant and chill atmosphere, from getting a cup of coffee with a friend to studying for finals. Be sure to get there early and snag one of their incredible croissants ;)
great coffee and croissants and a cookie the size of a small child's head.
Really nice baked goods. Be prepared to wait in line.
Has always been one of my favorite coffee shops. Visiting while in vacation last week I had one of the best Americanos I've ever tasted!
5 stars as always. Food and coffee always great.
Fancy yet high quality of food and staff, awesome place.
Great coffee, awesome baked goods, just bring a friend to share a cookie, they're too big for one.
Mmmmmm.... so worth every calorie!
Overrated. Poor atmosphere, mediocre coffee.
Delightful neighborhood spot. Incredible pain au chocolat!!!
Delicious coffee, croissants, and Montreal style bagels! Friendly staff and cozy environment. Highly recommended!
Had to wait thirty awkward seconds for the staff to finish their conversation before they looked at me with disinterest. The macaroon was good though.
Went here for the first time today and got me an iced latte, it was really good although I think they put just a bit too much ice then I like. Also wish that they had a bigger size since I finished the drink from walking from their door to the ferry terminal. I will be back for sure
Casual place for breakfast/brunch with killer croissants, muffins. This time I had the almond croissant -- flaky, laden with a healthy amount of almond filling, very buttery crust. Great place to bring kids -- chalk wall near the storefront windows, coloring books, etc. The kids had hot cocoa which came out looking like a fancy coffee drink.
If you want a chocolate scone go early, otherwise they will only have their special of the day and it is more money and may not be what you are craving.
Pretentious and not especially super good. Sold out quickly, very disappointing bagels. Nice atmosphere, fun to sit down and catch up but you don't have to do it for the food or drinks. Sorry
Croissants are unbelievably good!
Busy local favourite with massive croissants and cookies. Always busy, metered street parking available in the surrounding blocks. Great staff. A few outside tables during the season. Definitely also worth checking out Yeah Yeah's Pizza upstairs for quality handstretched pizza.
Very nice Latte!!
I keep coming back for the meaty cheese croissant!
A nice local hangout with fine coffee and goodies. Constant loud annoying music and full house mid Monday afternoon- does anyone work in this neighborhood? Only real negative is the table had crumbs still on it and the cracked concrete floor desperately needs a regular sweeping. On nice summer days the big bifold windows open to a sidewalk patio. In an area becoming quickly gentrified.
Good location. Fashionable meeting place. Good coffee but crowded and noisy.
Great bevvies, great scenery, AWESOME giant cookies.
Great atmosphere and delicious baked goods!
Loved the chai????
Get the Croissants with any beverage. It's really good, rich with butter, coffee smells fantastic, a handful of selective teas which are all decent.
Go early in the morning (amazing after a run) and get one of their fresh baked croissants and a coffee. You won't regret it!
Their espresso beans they use are a bit more acidic than what we are used to so just be aware of that if you drink straight espresso, but I had a mocha latte and it was great. The scones are delicious as well. The ambiance is very nice and the overall look of the place is cozy and welcoming.
Quaint place for a coffee and snack.
Fantastic croissants, and delicious coffee
The coffee isn't that good and not always hot. The staff are rude and not friendly. Unless you are their friend or know them, then they are very nice. The pastries are really good though!
I ordered an extra hot, no foam latte. I got a barely warm, fairly standard, weak latte. It was disappointing to discover after leaving. Next time I'll just stick to the baked goods.
Great coffee and baked goods in the heart of Dartmouth, this is a great spot for breakfast or an afternoon informal meeting.
Yummy bagels and coffee
The open kitchen allows you to observe the lovingly crafted puff pastry being forged as you await your order. Perfect place for a mid-day break.
Best pastries hands down.
Pretty good for croissants and coffee.
These croissants were delicious!! Had the provolone prosciutto and the maple curry chicken and they were both huge and flavourful.
Seriously the best croissants this side of the Atlantic. Just delicious.
A great latte, wonderful environment, and amazing staff!
Delicious coffee and the best prosciutto croissant. Try it with the macchiato special!
Amazing croissants!
Coffee isn't to bad. Haven't tried anything else there
In Dartmouth to visit family and found this gem. Was attending daily and happy with the product and service. But then yesterday (Wednesday) I ordered my drink and the lady taking the order was very pleasant but the man making my drink was very rude. I questioned the man why my order wasn't made correctly as I ordered it and he said he couldn't do it. I told him it was made perfectly for my prior three daily orders. He just walked away from me without saying anything. I think he was going to make me another drink but at that point I no longer trusted the man and the drinks were prepared out of view. Well back to Starbucks for me.
Very yummy desserts
Delicious croissant and perfect cafe latte, as usual. Happy, friendly staff.
Amazing croissants! Very fresh and fluffy! Had a chocolatine also and it was full of chocolate ????! Be careful no one is loosing weight by going there!
I very seldom drink coffee. I had a coffee here a few months back and I cannot stop coming and getting one. Live in Halifax now, but if I crave a coffee, it's here I will go out of my way to get the perfect cup. Staff are awesome. Chocolate Chip Cookies are the best ever.
Love this cafe, love their croissants, love the atmosphere. Great place to do some work or to chat with friends.
Coffee’s decent. Baked goods have gone downhill. Miss the old tibs days. My scone was dry and hardly a green onion in it. $7.50 for a small drip and scone is a bit bananas.
What a wonderful coffee shop! Their scones are amazing, and I quite like both their tea and coffee selection. I want to try all the baked goods. Only complaint would be some of the staff. There were quite a few cheerful staff members, but one person in particular acted like serving customers was a burden and wasn't welcoming at all. Maybe she was having a bad day, but her demeanour made me hesitant to go and get another cup of coffee because I didn't want to interact with her.
Very noisy when I was there. Not a relaxing atmosphere.
The pastry desserts were to die for
Best croissants ever. They make a mean iced mocha as well. You will not be disappointed.
