Do not go. Owner has a chip on his shoulder the size of a log. I mistakenly used the store’s chairs- they were two different chairs than the patio section , placed farther away against a wall. I had been sitting for 20 minutes finishing my own lunch when a man suddenly loomed over me. He asks- more like barks- “Are you a paying customer?!” I say no, however I have been in the past and before I can explain I didn’t realize it was his chairs he goes “so are you just stealing my wifi?!” No I was not. I immediately apologize and ask if I should leave- while already collecting my things and getting out of the chair. He then proceeds to lecture me in the most condescending tone “You need to understand you have a PRIVILEGE- I’m trying to run a business, this isn’t a free space, yada yada” Not running it well obviously- by the fact that there are hardly any customers, ever, and the food is overpriced and just plain bad. I don’t know if he had a bad day or what but the way he seemed personally angry at me was just plain bizarre. I basically had to run away. The cashier though, an older guy- he seems nice. Owner however…does not deserve your business and nor would you want too.

This is an absolute hidden gem and worth the trip over to Strawberry Hill. Food is delicious, drinks are great, atmosphere is awesome, but most of all the service is spectacular. A great place to chat with friends, meet a date, have a quiet cup of tea, or get some work done. I will be back!

This cafe is so special with its wide selection of local books and vintage decorations. The friendly barista, who may also have been the owner , excitedly told me about his vintage pieces and art collections. A lovely place to visit and buy local.

What a great find! This coffee shop is out of the way but well worth paying a visit. I am always looking for the best cappuccino in Halifax and was totally impressed with the cappuccino I was served. The shop is attached to Nimbus Publishing and has a large display of many local books, available for purchase. There are several areas to sit and enjoy your preferred coffee, as well as luncheon choices and/or muffins/desserts. Friendly staff and interesting cafe. Highly recommend it!

hidden in the car park wasteland of strawberry hill, this cafe is the reading room for nimbus publishing house. a wall of books, friendly service, lovingly poured espresso-based drinks, a good selection of baked goods, and none too busy, at least today. I found my new coffee spot.

WOW!! What a hidden little gem of a coffee shop/bookstore. Just incredible. Wickedly good coffee drinks made with Certified Fair Trade, Certified Organic beans roasted by Laughing Whale in Lunenburg. They also sell a humungous selection of new books from a bunch of local publishing companies. There's a couple of different rooms, (one like a little living room with a really cool graffiti mural sprayed on the wall) free WiFi, a ton of free parking and the place has a terrific vibe!! I'll be back for sure!

Peter McIntyre

This cafe supports local authors and publishers while providing a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Dropped in for a latte and spent an afternoon. A latte with oat milk is definitely worth the try.
