After a long stretch of driving and no caffeine in sight, there was nothing more exciting than stumbling across the Dancing Goat. It was near impossible to find somewhere to park because it was so packed, so that was a sure sign it would be good! I didn't realize just HOW good though! There's so many delicious food and drink options, and the fresh baked bread smelled so delicious so I HAD to try a sandwich. I customized mine to be vegan and ordered a Black Forest ham sandwich for my SO. It was actually the best sandwich ever, for him and me. The coffee was amazing and the food was incredible! The woman at the counter was extremely friendly and helped me find a great vegan option. Can't recommend it enough!!

The best place to stop for a coffee on the way to Inverness or around the trail. This place was a bit too busy for my liking, but with lineups like this, people must really enjoy it! It's so busy that you usually have to put your name down to reserve cinnamon buns since they are sold out. I heard afterwards that people drive 2 hours just to go here. The cinnamon buns were delicious, reminded me of Ben's Bakery cinnamon rolls from the Pier growing up. The coffee is great - I stopped on the to Inverness and on the way back and had Americanos both times. My sister had some vegan items that she found delicious, especially the soup and almond milk latte. I had their chowder and quiche which I felt was just ok. The cheese biscuit was delicious. I feel like this place has 5 star bakery items, 4 star coffee and food items, and a 3 star wait. They source all the ingredients locally which is also what makes this place extra special. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could.

HIDDEN GEM!!! We were passing through the area and saw this place. Stopped in for a latte and slice of coconut cream pie. The lattes were delicious and the pie was, literally, the most delicious pie I’ve ever had! We ended up returning a few days later for a breakfast sandwich. Very tasty! Picked up some yummy homemade bread too. Can’t wait to return to my new favourite cafe/bakery.

All the food was presently beautifully & simply; great assortment of things to choose from savoury to sweet (but you'll want both) with probably the best coffee on the island. This is the place I've always wanted to discover after a long drive across the country or even a short drive across the street.Thank you for creating it. If you ask any of the locals you will get the same story over and over again. There is a reason "goat" is part of their name. They are primarily a bakery, and they are good at it. The porridge bread was incredible! You can get a good, filling meal for under 10 dollars easy. Highly recommend, and do does everyone else.

Great place to eat. Breakfast was delicious had blueberry pancakes with bacon, everything was great and cooked perfectly. Pancakes served with a unique syrup, tasted like it had butterscotch in it, I could have eaten it on its own. Got some desserts for the road and expect them to blow my mind. Friendly staff, can't recommend this place enough!

Very nice café /bakery that is a must to stop at. Staff is super friendly and they are very quick to clear off tables for new customers to sit down. It can get busy. Prices are very reasonable and the sandwiches are packed with meat. Tasty food and the desserts are fantastic. The raspberry cheesecake was fantastic but the coconut cake was on another level.

One of my favorite stops for breakfast, lunch, or their delicious baked goods and desserts. It's a very popular spot so getting there early is a must. Personal highlights include oatmeal bread, lemon squares, pb chocolate chip cookies, and their blueberry pancakes. My wife isn't a fan of pancakes but admitted that these were some of the best she's ever tasted. Honestly, it's impossible to pick a bad item on the menu!

We stumbled onto this adorable eatery about an hour and a half before closing time. Although the baked goods were sold for the day, they still had a full menu. I had the Kickin' Avocado and Bacon sandwich on multigrain bread with a side of roasted red pepper soup. It was delicious, and I'm considering making the 2hr drive from my place just to get more! The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, and the London Fog I ordered was perfect! Don't miss out on this little gem!

Never knew the folklore of how coffee was discovered until I came here. What a wonderful little stop this was. Fresh coffee, tea, jams and all sorts of baked goods. Just had to check out best 5-star place while in the Margaree Valley doing a side-by-side run up into the Highlands from Wreck Cove General Store to Cheticamp and back down to mile marker 0 of the Celtic Trail. Our group was certainly not disappointed! The freshest of ingredients and cooked to perfection meals where immensely enjoyed by all! The staff was wonderful, kind and considerate, even when faced with very specific orders! And so the streak continues! Five stars from "The GRIZZLY Pack"

We've been having periodic lunches at the Goat for several years. You'll be hard pressed to find a tastier sandwich for lunch. The breakfasts are also quite good and service is effective. They are very busy during the summer, so plan accordingly. Eating off peak hours tends to work best in July and August. Good desserts and authentic Cape Breton oat cakes are also part of the mix. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the Margarees.

I've eaten quite a few breakfast sandwiches in my day, from many, many places ranging from the staple drive-thru McSandwich to the beardy-beard hipster wokewich. So I do hereby declare that this is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten. For a very reasonable price. The biscuit takes it to another level and the ingredients all just come together into perfection. The Americano was fantastic as well. I wish I lived close to this place because I would be their best customer.

Great place to stop, their Morning Glory muffins were the very best I've EVER had, seriously.If I had known how good they were I'd have bought a couple of dozen. If I am within even thinking distance of the place, it will be a must stop.One tiny criticism, Iced Americano, not a difficult thing to make, I am never sure if asking a nice person, if they've ever made one is insulting, and I would never do that in a mean way. So mine was not great. But the person making it was too nice to say or ask anything. A.B.K.[always be kind] Next time: (Cool water: 1/2 c espresso, ice cubes, room for cream) not a big deal at all. Another place, try to go early, for best variety.

Adorable cafe! Quite popular too, parking lot full, but there seemed to be lots of seating and take away options. Best pancakes we probably ever had, the syrup was something special. Lots of yummy latte options. I had salted caramel. We also tried a muffin, rhubarb which was absolutely delicious, bordered cupcake territory. Grabbed some snickerdoodles to go and they were great too, if a little crumbly.

Came here because I needed a lunch packed for my hiking adventure in cape Breton highlands. I had checked out their menu ahead of time and decided sandwich and a salad would be perfect for my day. I didn’t anticipate having the BEST sandwich in the world. The bread is so fresh and tasty. The sandwich is packed with protein and flavors. The salad was equally delicious and the chicken was the perfect addition with the right about of texture and moisture. Price was accordingly. I heard some people complain about it being expensive- it wasn’t. Also the coffee is SUPER tasty!! 10/10 recommend. If I lived in the area I’d be here regularly.

A friend told me "don't leave Cape Breton without going to the Dancing Goat". So glad I listened. Super friendly staff took the time to explain the menu & make recommendations. I've never had such quick service! Had the chicken barley soup with half egg salad sandwich on porridge bread. Every bite was amazing! Honest! And there was a steady stream of people leaving with bags of giant cookies the entire time I was there. Makes me wish I had bought some before coming home! I'd go back right now but its a 5 hour drive!

When this place first opened I was amazed! This cafe is almost hidden gem on the Cabot Trail. Portions are large and it is from scratch baking! It is worth every cent to stop, sip and taste! Ordering and pick up your order is easy and fantastic for the on the go person and family. Living in area gives you a piece of home baked goodness and yet you go there feeling your along the major city popping in for your coffee or tea. But still have the countryside to enjoy! Worth it!

Good spot to grab a quick lunch. We ordered two sandwiches to eat in, the black forest ham and the chicken sandwich. Loved the crunchy almonds in the chicken sandwich, it was a really nice texture. The mango chutney in the ham sandwich was a really nice contrast to the sharp, grainy mustard. Overall, the sandwiches were tasty and fresh.
