I wouldn't recommend eating here at all! I ordered a hot turkey platter all white meat. When I received my meal it was all white meat but, the bread it was served on was rye bread. It was the driest turkey sandwich I ever attempted to eat. The potatoes had lumps in there everywhere. Needles to say for a bill that was $81 for three meals only one person actually ate! Never again!

Great, delicious home cooked meals. Burgers, hot sandwiches, seafood, pizza, soups and chowders plus a few other items. They also serve home baked desserts and sell breads and preserves. There is always a line so go prepared to wait at the door for a bit, but the food is really good.

Hands down the best place to eat a home cooked meal on the island! Try the warm chicken burger and you will not be sorry! Usually very busy here so be prepared to water if it's around supper time but all in all it's worth it.

The service here can be slow because the place always seems packed with regulars with whom the waitresses love to chat. If it's too busy, you have to wait even for menus because, oddly, they don't have enough to go around. But the food is hearty and the desserts are excellent.

We had a veggie pizza and fish and chips. The fish was amazing, large thick pieces and beautifully crispy. The pizza was a delicious homestyle pizza with thin crust and thick outer crust that was jut the right amount of crisp. Definitely will stop on our travels again.

The food here is amazing- definitely my family's new favourite restaurant on the island, if not in all of Nova Scotia! It is a bit pricey- but the food is so good I can look past that. Their chocolate cake with boiled icing is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten, and their tea biscuits are so good I've tried to make it my mission to recreate them at home since I'm not there to buy them all the time!

So many gluten free options you will be overwhelmed with choices. Everything is homemade, I settled on a turkey dinner with all the fixings because as a celiac it's something that you never really get to enjoy. Drive out of your way to come here to eat. Sixteen years a celiac this is one of the best GF restaurants I've eaten at. Add to all of this, the staff is amazing.

The Cedar House is a planned stop on every trip to Cape Breton, even if we have to detour out of the way! Have been going for years and I'm never disappointed in the food, service or baked treats to-go. Their chocolate cake with boiled icing is just as good as grandma made it, expect they let you have a bigger slice! On our visit in September they had changed the menu and I was sad to see the French Dip sandwich, my all time fav, was gone. However, I found something just as delicious to replace it. Be sure to grad some Aussie cookies for the road. You won't regret it!

Usually awesome food. I've only had one disappointing meal there, otherwise the fare is very good. The usual lineup outside should tell you how good the food is. I wish there was more seating inside to accommodate the lunch and supper crowds.

We were looking for somewhere that was opened on Thanksgiving Monday and were given a recommendation to try the Cedar House. There was a lineup outside the door but we only ended up waiting about 25 minutes. My husband got the fish cakes and baked beans, I had the Turkey dinner and they brought out warm biscuits and butter. The food was absolutely delicious! We bought a pumpkin pie, cookies and biscuits and thoroughly enjoyed those over the next couple days as well.

I would normally give a higher score. The food and bake goods are delish but today I did the "special". It was the hot roast beef plate. It was nasty. If I was 90 and in a nursing home, perhaps. The beef was like baby food and the gravy was like a pudding. Guess that's why it was on special.

Had lunch there. Order seafood chowder and while it was good, it was mostly made of haddock with very little scallops or lobster. They make excellent homemade biscuits and rolls. It's a beautiful restaurant. The staff are very friendly and great service. I'll probably go back but will order something else. Prices are a little high...13.95 for cup, 16.95 for bowl of chowder. I still recommend going. It's perfect for special occasions ????????
