Matthew Scheffel

Had a delightful afternoon tea with more delicious food than we could eat. Their home made lemon curd (for sale in jars) is very good. Every item was worthy of a dedicated visit.

Farzïn Faridfar

Friendly and kind staff with delicious lunch, I had a very succulent Creole! We were entertained by the owner who was filled with authentic British charm!

Anthony Pucci

Spectacular food paired with service of a genuine man who takes a lot of passion in his craft. Do not pass up your opportunity to try the goods on offer.

What a treat! We had very high expectations and Birkinshaw's went above and beyond. We thoroughly enjoyed the Lady Clara Afternoon Tea. It was beautifully presented and every bite was flavourful and carefully crafted. It is a full meal and some of us were not able to finish so you won't be hungry! Take out boxes were available. Adrian, our host, was charming and attentive and extremely knowledgeable. He turned our tea service into an experience. We loved the stories about his family and the history of Afternoon tea. Wonderful service overall and we can't wait to go back. Definitely worth the trip!

Jeff McKinney

A truly authentic British tea house. The host is so hospitable. We enjoyed every minute of our time here.

Paul Ralph

Fantastic tuna melt, good korma, good milkshakes. Not much tea selection for a tea room, but it was only open for take out when we were there and the selection might be better for dine in.

Linda Berry

What a lovely treasure. Stopped for a tea break and met the proprietor. Enjoyed the food and friendly service.

Kelsey Hanchuk

I've being there a few times, the food is good and we were treated well, Except for yesterday the server was joking around but, he was very insulting. I won't go into details but I will not be bringing my friends and family there again. Pity.

I so thoroughly enjoyed my Cream Tea experience! After reading all of the glowing reviews, Birkinshaw's had created some rather high expectations to live up to. It not only exceeded expectations, it fully embodied all my hopes and dreams of what a tea room could be. I especially appreciated the mix-matched china with nods to Atlantic Canada. I was most impressed with how it managed both to transport me to an English market town and stay firmly rooted in local culture and produce. I came for the Maritime Cream tea and was thoroughly and utterly delighted. It's worth coming for the homemade clotted cream alone, but my tea also included blueberry lemon scones and lavender shortbread, not to mention the lemon curd and blueberry jam. I have yet to find another place in Canada that offers the standard cream tea like I see in British TV shows (just the scones, no finger sandwiches or dessert cakes) and I left Birkinshaw's skeptical that I could ever find a place that did it quite as well.

Wonderful place to enjoy tea. Delicious! If you have a chance to enjoy a luxury tea I highly recommend it!

Karen Van Niekerk

Went to Birkinshaws for a high tea with a group of girlfriends. The service was exceptional from the start. Our table was immaculately prepared and our personable host guided us through bubbles, tea, coffee, cake, scones, sandwiches and more. All the while providing history on high teas, duchesses and dukes, proper tea etiquette and more. Everything there is made from scratch and you can taste it. This is highly recommended for anyone looking for the real deal high tea experience. We’ll be back.

What a pleasant surprise to find this wonderful place in the heart of Amherst. Had a great lunch and fantastic coffee. Looking forward to trying the high tea another time.

Cozy Atmosphere, nice severs. If you are looking for a traditional English tea, this is the place to go. The service is slow so it is best to go when you are not in a hurry.

Charity Carr

Stopped in for a quick bite to-go while travelling through on business. Friendly and fast service though I wish I could have stayed for tea! I had the meat pie with salad and cranberry chutney - absolutely perfect! I was also happy to head out with my lunch in a sturdy paper bag with wooden utensils. Nice touch! I will definitely be coming back for an afternoon tea!

Colin Heighton

Cozy venue with a nice change from the usual variety. A wonderful spot for a lunch, a date or just a cup of tea or coffee. Great addition to the community.

Victoria Rector

I always look forward to excellent food and good conversation when heading for lunch at Birkinshaw's. Easily one of my favorite spots with an atmosphere that makes me feel right at home.

Great restaurant hidden away in Amherst. With some of the best tea and coffee I have ever had. Food is well balanced and cooked properly, with seasonal local selections. Comfortable, quiet, cozy. A great place for coffee and a good book, or lunch with friends/family.

Naomi Ferdinand

I went for a coffee break and loved it so much I brought my coworkers back with me for another visit. The food is yummy and the decor is lovely.

Mr M

Absolutely fantastic! They have everything you can imagine for tea plus more. They have a full menu and these ice cream floats that are a must buy for kids or if you are a child at heart. If you want proper tea he has it and everything is scratch made down to the whipped cream. Don't forget to look at the desert menu. I'm not going to give it away but it has caramel in it... Dont miss this opportunity entering or leaving Nova Scotia.

Jessica Edwards

Attended a bridal shower here. Food, service and location were all wonderful. Would go back in a second!

Bea Burgess

Nice relaxing atmosphere. Delicious food, excellent service. Highly recommend.

An amazing experience! Pampered by 6 pieces of different cake. Wish to visit this cozy, cute cafe when it reopens. On-line shopping was easy. Good quality of handcrafted cake. Highly recommended! Curry and port dishes are delicious, too.

Birkinshaw's is an authentic English tea room. The owners are happy to explain the menu and the tradition of the food. It is well worth the experience and the food is always excellent.

Another wonderful find in Amherst. Delicious, very high quality food, as home made as you can get without being home. Highly recommend. Prices are higher, paying for quality.

Sandra McCann

Met a friend for lunch at a "new to me" restaurant in Amherst. Aiden is charming & fun to chat with. The food was really yummy. I highly recommend the Windsor Picnic Pie that comes with a small delicious potato salad & a small green salad. Just right for a luncheon portion. I took a Millionaire Shortbread square to go. Worth every calorie!!

James Waldecker

I stopped in this past July while looking for a place for lunch. I cannot imagine a more hospitable and enjoyable place for lunch and conversation. The staff was extremely welcoming. I had a chance to talk to locals about the history and the culture of the region. The food was excellent. If you're in Amherst, this is clearly the place to go for lunch.

Heather Pond-Kirk

Both times I've gone have been wonderful experiences with great memories made. We had a lovely Mother's Day tea today.

Richard Hubley

Excellent food and service. Desserts were amazing!
