Had their cupcakes twice. First time was super dry and crumbly (white cake). I thought maybe it was just a bad day so I gave it another shot about 3 months later. More than 3 bucks a cupcake and it’s dryer than Death Valley. Macarons were just okay. I literally bake for a living and I wouldn’t recommend getting their cupcakes at all. Honestly don’t even know why they sell it when it’s over baked and dense as hell. Where’s the quality in this overpriced cupcake?

What looks to be the manager or the owner was not wearing a mask and was a bit rude. The cups were super dirty and the coffee was more like water. Very disappointing. Would not recommend.

I absolutely love all of Katies baking. She has done multiple cakes for different event for my family/friends . Each cake has been curated to the event type and tastes absolutely delicious. Would recommend Butterlane for any event whether a casual thing or something fancy.

Delicious presentation, but was super disappointed as both cupcakes and cake slice were very dry, almost hard. I would mayyyybe expect this from day old discounted items, but I paid boutique prices for them. Sorry, the quality just isn't there. Customer service was great, though - hence the two stars.

I live in the area and am at the Quay frequently but had not tried anything from Butter Lane before yesterday. The chocolate croissant had a similar problem to what many seem to have found: it was very, very dry. Like I really need water dry. It's a lovely little spot and the staff were friendly but I probably wouldn't recommend it based on what I tried. I might try again soon to see if it was just a one-off.

I stood in line waiting for service here for a good bit, and then noticed the employee making coffees was unmasked and decided to go elsewhere. On another trip, I walked by and noticed absolutely not one of the three employees were masked — this is annoying and uncomfortable generally, but especially gross when it’s people serving food and drinks (while flagrantly ignoring public health orders). Also not the first review about staff not wearing masks. Go elsewhere for pastries.

The brownies there are amazing, however it is difficult to find them, they don’t always have them. I asked for chocolate/pistachio bread to try, and is just okay. Soon I’ll go back to try the tea & I’ll let you know how it was!

I was excited to eat the cookie dough and coconut cupcakes this evening. Thought the presentation was beautiful, this tasted like the kind of pastries I would expect from a chain grocery store with the prices of a designer bake shop. Will go somewhere else in the future for baked goods.

Sublime Lemon I ordered a lemon cake for my friend’s 70th and everyone thought it was the best lemon cake they had ever eaten. It’s not too sweet and it’s quite light tasting with a beautiful meringue frosting. The ordering and paying online was simple and pickup was as planned. Thanks so much Butter Lane for this delicious cake.

Took a break from work yesterday to pick up some treats as we were craving the s'mores cookies we saw on their insta-stories. The cookie was super tasty and I liked that the marshmallow was melted into the cookie and not just pieces of marshmallow. I also had the hazelnut beignets which I will be definitely be buying again. They would be a great addition to a dessert platter.

Butter Lane really delivered with our delicious coconut wedding cake! They really listened to what we wanted with our wedding cake. We loved how creative they were adding in a little Disney touch even though we didn’t want any fondant. With all the recent COVID changes, we had to reschedule our wedding twice. They were very accommodating with our new dates and we really appreciated it. :)

Had a really awkward experience grabbing a sandwich and coffee this past weekend (Dec 20) from Butter Lane. Waited in line (as the only person) for a good 5 minutes before I was even acknowledged. Ordered food, and each worker (there were about 5 behind the counter) couldn’t give me the time of day and acted as if I was a complete burden for ordering lunch from their cafe! Over the 10 minutes it took for them to prepare my food, multiple workers glared at me/came up to me to rudely ask “what I was doing” waiting at their pickup area. Overall, pretty poor service and mediocre food.

The pastries are nice, but a bit on pricey side . The manners, however , are far from sweet! My daughter really wanted a macaroon, so I promised to buy some for her Birthday. We only made it to the market shortly before 5 pm and the sales were already wrapping up . However , the cookies were still on the counter and the owner was still there . I asked her if I could buy a macaroon and she yelled back at me : « we are closed ! ». My 9 year old daughter was shocked ... It was really rude !

I ordered last minute a birthday cake and it was the worst cake I have ever tasted. I usually bake at home, but I didn't have time. I regret my decision to buy there. I bought the vanilla and chocolate cake. It was tasteless, dry and very hard. It seemed like a very old cake.

We purchased a smash cake and cupcakes from Butter Lane for my son’s first birthday. Not only were they both delicious, they were also so beautiful! I will definitely be using Butter Lane again for any future occasions.

I had to visit this place a few times to write a review. First time over the weekend i was there, they had no staff and the pastry i tried were just ok. The second time i went it was a great experience really great coffee the scone was great and fast service. For some reason the third time was better than first but definitely worst then second time the pastry was a bit dry. The coffee is decent every time though and when there are people working they do a good job.

I went here for lunch with a friend and the food was really good as well as the desserts. The atmosphere is really cozy and cute. The owner is super lovely as well. Highly recommend this cute little cafe if you are in the lonsdale quay area.

Beautiful presentation, lackluster flavors. I bake a lot at home and when I buy cupcakes from a fancy bakery I expect that it is at least as good as my baking at home. I was alarmingly disappointed by these cakes. The coconut cake had nice icing, but the cake was dry and flavourless. The carrot cake was a good texture, but had almost ZERO carrots in it. I could only find a tsp of carrot shavings in a huge cupcake. The oreo cupcake icing was again nice, but the chocolate cupcake tasted worse than chocolate box cake! There was wasn't enough flavor in any of these cakes. The presentation was lovely, but that's all unfortunately.

I am so happy I finally had a chance to visit. What an excellent selection of gluten-free sandwiches! I could order any of the sandwiches on gluten-free bread and it was prepared with so much care. Our food was delicious. I love the big mugs of tea as well. Highly recommend this sweet spot to sit and watch the view or to take out a delicious lunch. Looking forward to the next time.

Was gonna buy some macaroons here but there ended up being fruit flying crawling on them. Probably not their fault because there are fruit vendors near them, but it should be an issue that needs to be addressed.

I got this cake yesterday. It has vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam. For the most part, it is as delicious as it looks, while there is a hard crust on it. I like this aspect, so I'll not put off by this, while I can really see why people are leaving reviews about "dry" goods. I want to support this place and I likely will, although I would suggest that the producers of the product heed these reviews and work on the dryness of the bread/cakes/cookies. This was a hit for me, could a miss for someone else.

I ordered my wedding cake and the design I asked for is spot on. However, the lemon flavor was lost in the cake which is disappointing on the other hand. Also the cake was dry and really sweet. I was hoping that the lemon flavor will contrast the sweetness of the cake but that wasn't the case. Over all, I love the look but not the taste. Katie who handled my order though, is a pleasant person to work with.

Im an event planner and I called Butterlane Bake Shop last minute for a mexican themed birthday celebration.. They squeezed me in their busy schedule & made the most perfect cake AND delivered to me right on time of the day of the event - it was better than I could have imagined! They delivered exactly what i had asked for. My clients were so happy and they said the cake was just as delicious as it looked!! Butter Lane Bake Shop is truly one of North Vancouver's little gems of Lonsdale Quay. I've been a customer since 2019 and I have nothing bad to say. Their baked good are INCREDIBLE (my personal favourite are the Macarons), their lunch items (Chicken Avocado Sandwich = perfection) are delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. Katie is a baking wizard. She made my son's first birthday cake and IT. WAS. UNREAL. The texture and flavours were delicious and the decor (ombre) was beautiful. I also appreciate that they make gluten-free options. Highly highly recommend Butter Lane Bake Shop!!!

I took my daughter for the kids high tea. I was so disappointed with my order! I ordered the hash bowl. What a rip off, I was given a plate of potatoes and about 3 slivers of a bell pepper, microwaveable bacon with the egg. For $14?!! Wish I had taken a picture. The scone was super dry. Service was sub par. I do not recommend anyone waste their money here!

UPDATE 2020: I have since returned to this place and WOW. The service upon opening was ehh. But the owner and her daughter are amazing. The treats are always fresh and delish, the tea and coffee is great and you are always greeted quickly. Such a happy update, the setting is chic , the owner is a delight. 5/5!

Our family loves Butter Lane! Run by a Mother Daughter duo. Their space at Lonsdale Quay is designed perfectly. Indoor and outdoor seating. You have to see it to believe it such attention to detail! A perfect oasis for lunch, afternoon tea or a glass of rose. Great menu. The baking! Where do I start? I love having a coffee and the carrot cake muffins are incredible. We have ordered the Lemon Cream cake twice this year for birthday celebrations and it was consistently fresh and delicious, the presentation was perfect. Love to know also that we are supporting local. So I highly recommend! Two thumbs up!

Nice presentation of food in a box. Slightly pricey for a sandwich of its size but taste pretty good. Meringue was very nice, but oak milk cappuccino was disappointing and just tasted of hot milk. I'm guessing baking is what they do well.

Being in the fourth wave of the pandemic, with so many people being hospitalized and healthcare workers being overworked, it's so upsetting to see businesses still not taking COVID seriously!

We were a large group with several small children, and they went the extra mile to accommodate us and make sure the kids enjoyed high tea as much as the adults. There was a good assortment of food for the high tea, and they had alternatives for those in our group with food allergies.

This bake shop is unbelievably amazing! The pastries and cakes are delicious and the owners are wonderful people. I had a mishap with my wedding cake and needed a replacement. My makeup artist highly recommended Butter Lane and they did not disappoint. The design was exactly what I wanted and the flavor (lemon cream) was so yummy. Everyone at the wedding raved about the cake and I couldn't have been happier. Definitely found my new go to bakery. Just Yum!

Such a wonderful experience today at Butter Lane Bake Shop. If you haven't had breakfast, tea or treats at/from Butter Lane you are missing out. It's the most beautiful and cozy space with absolutely delicious tea and treats. Hands down the BEST raisin scone with clotted cream and jam I have ever had. The service is always fantastic as is the ambiance! It was a lovely birthday brunch and tea for my aunt on a drizzly day.
