Honestly. I like this little grocery store. Some prices on items are good and some are pricey. For a small store they carry a wide variety of gluten-free options and hard to find items that even big chain stores don't have. Staff are friendly and helpful. One thing I will say is there meat is good quality.

Very expensive. If you need more than 3 items it's worth the 5 bucks in gas to drive to north bay. The only time i have ever received friendly service is when the students are working the cash. I guess the old ladies are only friendly to those that have lived here forever!

With the feel of an old time country store, Oshell's Valu-Mart is appropriately named as it is always packed with great values. I am always amazed at the variety of products and seldom leave without everything on my list and most often much more. The produce department always has an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. The meat department which is often the showcase of any grocery store doesn't disappoint. It's difficult to walk past the bakery and deli section without making a purchase. The aromas are just too tempting. And your final stop at the checkout will leave you smiling and feeling good as you chat with the friendly cashiers waiting to ring you up.

The hot counter is great they have a nice selection of grocery items but the store itself is in a serious need of a revamp or they need to build a brand new grocery store and just move out of that one. It is old tired dirty they have carpet on the floors like it is so outdated and quite frankly I find that to be unsanitary for a food store.

I am happy that there is a grocery store like this for such a small town, unfortunately I don't see why everyone had said "friendly staff" in their reviews as I come in weekly to buy things I don't have time to go to North Bay for and I've gotten a rude lady every time except for 1 particular woman who has strawberry-blonde like hair and treats me like a human being. Other people who work here basically make 0 conversation with me and it seems as if it is a hassle to ring me through. hmmm? maybe they treat older people good, but i'm a young woman and I get -10 customer service here. Two stars for location and conveniency.

My cottage is on Wasi Lake. It's a nice drive into Powassan. Prices are ok. But if you want to drive all the way to North Bay then you have Walmart, Sobeys, No Frills etc.

I have lived in many small towns in my life. They are usually priced much higher than stores in a larger city. Oshells is defiantly not the most exspensive small town grocery store I have shopped!!!! The selection is excellent! No you cannot get everything but I can get almost everything I NEED to make a good meal unless it is a specialty item. The sales are great and weekly. The people are sweet!
